---------------------------------
The Garden Girls have planned the perfect baby shower for Andrea and her husband, Brian. The decorations are in place, the delicious dishes lovingly prepared by the friends and nearly half the town of Belhaven has been invited to join in the joyous occasion, but there’s trouble on the horizon.
As if dealing with the unexpected wrench in their perfectly laid party plans isn’t enough, Liz, Gloria’s sister, has arrived for the summer, and invited the friends to stop by for a tour of her swanky new summer digs.
The friends tour the beautiful home and grounds, and Gloria can’t believe her sister’s good fortune. It seems almost to be too good to be true.
But all is not perfect in Liz’s slice of paradise. She hasn’t even unpacked her bags when the women make an unsettling discovery, setting Liz up as the prime suspect for a murder investigation.
With a killer on the loose, will Gloria and the Garden Girls convince Liz to give up her dream summer home long enough to clear her name and keep her from becoming the next victim?
Gloria and the girls are once again involved in solving a murder. The primary suspect, this time, Gloria’s own sister Liz! Somehow Liz always seems to find herself in crazy situations and brings Gloria and her friends in order to bail her out. This time is no exception! First, why was Liz even in Bellhaven to begin with?
Liz’s significant other, had a friend, who knew a friend, who was kind enough, set Liz up in a famous golf-pro’ mansion for the summer. Liz of course, was anxious to show off her good fortune to Gloria and her friends. The day she arrived she quickly invited them to tour the palatial estate, excited to be in such a lavish home.
The girls agreed since there was a turn of events at a baby shower they were giving. Impressed with the very elite neighborhood and home, they were eager to get the tour started. Liz’s exuberance being contagious, they ventured out to the remarkable pool house. Liz had requested that Ruby bring her lock-picking set since the key to the pool house was missing. With the pool house opened, there was much excitement as they went from room to room. The excitement quickly gave way when the body of the golf-pro was found murdered. Once again, the girls are on the trail of a killer.
With this being book number 22, Hope Callaghan has this series down! The Garden Girls feel like family and I always look forward to their hijinks that ensue whenever they set off on a sleuthing adventure. The story is always well written, as well as each character brings their own attribute to the story. I love this series featuring a group of older women who have been friends for a very long time. This is a fun, entertaining, and humor sprinkled throughout. I look forward to the next adventure with the Garden Girls!

This story begins with a baby shower that was interrupted with the babies' arrival. From there, we go to Gloria's sister's arrival to her house sitting job. She is looking forward to a glorious summer sitting in the luxurious mansion of a golf pro when they discover the home's owner dead in the sauna. From there, the story goes chaotic with the Garden Girls doing their own investigation while they wait for the police to solve the crime. The list of suspects grows and finally Gloria solves the mystery. I loved this book with its interaction among Gloria's sister, Liz, her friends, the Garden Girls, and the police. Hope Callaghan's books are never boring.
As usual Gloria and her buddies land in the middle of a murder. Liz has agreed to house sit a luxury home in Michigan. She does have to sign a rental agreement giving the owner a couple thousand as a security deposit. Then she can't get in the pool house. When Ruth uses her lock picking tools they find the owner dead in the sauna. Why can't Gloria leave the murder to the police? Hope Callaghan has another cozy mystery home run.
Liz gets a job babysitting a luxury home on the lake and when they toured the house they found a dead body in the sauna. Liz asked Gloria and the garden club to investigate and help solve the murder. Everyone helped except Andrea and Alice because of the twins and they were soon making progress and Gloria was able to put the pieces together. Another great story with a little religion thrown in
Another great book of the garden girls. So glad Brian and Andrea had twins. Love the interaction between Gloria and Liz. I don’t know if I could have my sister live with me! I love how The characters have evolved from the first books. Keep writing Ms Callahan and I will keep reading.
I love all of the books by Hope Callahan...the grandmother/Golden Girl types of women still have lots of spunk & love watching them come together to solve the cases, and prove that being older doesn't mean you're either not "with it" &/or dead!!
Love this series. Following all the characters through their "normal" lives makes me forget the problems of.the day. Seeing a real time problem, drugs, showing up in their town made.it so believable.
I love the garden girls. This book was one of my favorites. Parts had me laughing out loud ( the moped) and shaking my head. These women all feel like they are your friends too. Great job Hope 🌷
I liked the book, but it seemed to go on and on. The Garden Girls are fun though. They sure get themselves in trouble! I liked the Houseboat book better. It made m laugh a lot. Can’t think of what it was called.
Really enjoy this series. Starting next book in series, can't wait to see what the girls are going to get up to next. Great characters and love this is a clean wholesome Christian read. Quick, fun and easy to read.
This book was interesting, fun read and guessing who the killer was, fun and not obvious. These ladies are true Sleuths and great friends to each other
Gloria's sister, Liz, is house sitting a Mansion of a house for the summer. As she shows the Garden Girls around they run across a dead body in the pool house sauna. The next thing they know the police suspect Liz. The girls must clear her name and find out who did it. It is a wild ride but a fun read.
Murder on Summer Lane is the 22nd book Hope Callaghan’s awesome Garden Girls Cozy Mystery Series. Once again, Ms. Callaghan has provided readers with an intriguing mystery without the inclusion of any gratuitous sex, graphic violence, or adult language. The writing style flows smoothly, the storyline is well-plotted, the mystery is well thought out and interesting, and the well-developed characters are delightful. There’s a strong message of the importance of family, friendship, and community. I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy well-crafted cozy mysteries.
Gloria Rutherford-Kennedy and the Garden Girls have planned a wonderful baby shower for Andrea and her husband, Brian. Most of the community has been invited, and everyone is eagerly anticipating the announcement of the baby’s gender. Gloria’s sister, Liz, is visiting from Florida and housesitting for an acquaintance of her boyfriend, Martin Heemstra. The owner of the Lake Harmony, Joel Everling, is a golf pro who will be touring for the entire summer. Liz invited Gloria and the gang to tour the luxurious estate. Mr. Everling forgot to leave the key to his pool house, so Liz asks her sister if Ruth can bring her tools and open it. Ruth successfully unlocks the pool house, and when they discover a sauna, they find the owner’s body. Detective Green is in charge of the investigation, and even though he’s competent, Gloria, Liz, and Gloria’s friends can’t resist investigating on their own, which leads them to the discovery of some surprising things in the mansion.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

The girls, Gloria, Ruth, Lucy, Margaret, Dot and Rose, come to see this extravagant house that Liz is sitting for, when they find the owner's body locked in the sauna.I Of course they can't stay out of the investigation, and the twists and turns they go through will make you laugh out loud! But this fight knit group care for each other and together solve the mystery but not without the chagrin of the police detectives! I have been waiting for next edition of The Garden Girls, and here it is. Every new book brings adventure and insight to friendships that have been nurtured for many years. The ladies known as The Garden Girls are strong and supportive of one another in good time and bad. By there always seems to be a mysterious death in the mix. The girls always wind up in the midst of the investigation whether one of them is a suspect or not, and they are always instrumental in solving the mystery. Hope Callaghan is so good at spinning these tales that as soon as the reader is finished with the newest one they are anticipating the next one. If you love a good cozy mystery give this book a try. The Garden Girls will become new friends of yours.
Summer Lane is filled with lots of suspects and misadventures. The twist and turn plot kept this avid reader guessing Who dun it. With quirky and nosy characters - like Gloria, twist and turn plot, and a satisfying resolution makes Book 22 a delightful read. Hope Callaghan is a talented author, who crafts a well written and realistic story about drugs, gated Michigan beach communities, nosy neighbors and more. Recipe for a scrumptious easy to prepare Greek Orzo Salad is included.
Though this edition of the Garden Girls adventures was not as exciting as many in the past, it still felt like hanging around with old friends. I found inspiration with Margaret' s story and applauded Eleanor for "getting back up on the horse" after all these years. I know that all good things must come to an end, but I sure hope this isn't the last time we hear from our Garden Girls.
When Gloria's sister Liz comes to town to house sit for the summer the girls look forward to taking advantage of all the amenities afforded in the "wealthy" gated community. But they find more than they wanted to find, and the Garden Girls detectives are in the midst of a homicide yet again. These ladies are friends through every storm and love each other. I love these ladies that are not afraid to look for the truth and fight for each other.
Lovely cozy mystery, Hope Callaghan writes some really lovely heartwarming books. The main characters are all loving people who care very much and help solve the mysteries. I enjoyed reading this book very much, Gloria's sister Liz is house sitting for the summer when a body is found in the property. Andrea goes into Labour and there is a wonderful surprise. I do hope there will be more books.
Gloria and her gang of senior sleuths find a body in her sister Liz's summer rental. Liz is naturally suspect, so they ladies snoop, investigate and theorize. Good friends, humor and dealing with life's disappointments and joys make this cozy an enjoyable read.
And the Garden Girls Mysteries continue. I love all the wonderful characters & animals in this series. This book is just as fun as the first 21 books. If you love good clean fun mysteries, this book & series are for you. I highly recommend this book. I hope we get to learn about Eleanor's big date in the next book!
Each garden girls story gets better with each book. It was nice that the sisters got along better in this book. And of course there is always a good mystery to solve. Great story.
