Welcome to Diablo Falls, where the world of the supernatural is out in the open, and where fangs, fur, and magic are the norm. Join the authors of Bite Club and meet those who are experiencing paranormal firsts in our growly, filthy collection of thirteen steamy “First Time” short stories.

Because we all know... you never forget your first.

---First Cursed---

“True love can break the curse, Hazel,” the witch said, laughing in my face.

Ever since leaving my coven, everything has been going wrong. None of my spells work, my potions turn to ash, and now I think my dog is losing the ability to talk to me. I don’t deal in curses, but after that witch reveals her intentions, it's clear that I have been living under a rather potent one.

Things change when Jamie Ross walks into my shop. All it takes is one brush of our hands and everything’s different. I always thought curses were meant for fairy tales, but the joke’s on her because I just met my happily ever after.

First Cursed by Fiona Starr a five-star read that will steal your heart. This is a stand-alone in the Diablo Falls series, if you like your stories with a paranormal twist then you can’t go wrong with this series. This is not my first by this author as I have just adored and been hearted by her work previously with Flirt Club and because of that, I am so thankful to the Flirt Club for introducing me to Bite Club. Hazel was a great character in this story, but it was Skip that stole my heart, I have had a soft spot for Fiona Starr and her writing, she just has a way of writing that speaks to me, much like Skip. This is a great story and one you need in your life.

Hazel is a witch who lives in Diablo Falls her spells have been going wrong lately and her familiar Skip who’s a dog that talks is barking between sentences so she’s worried. The mean witch from Hazel’s ex coven Marissa comes into Hazel’s shop she’s blaming Hazel for other witches leaving the coven so she throws something on Hazel’s floor and said something that Hazel couldn’t hear and then Marissa said that true love will break the curse now Hazel is in trouble. Jamie is back in town he used to spend summers there in Diablo Falls with his family visiting his grandma Gertie now she’s retired and Jamie is staying at her house and something told him that it was a right move. Jamie is nearly hit by a VW beetle screeching out from a shop that sells homemade tea and Jamie loves tea so he’s going to get himself some. When Jamie meets Hazel he feels like he has been punched in the gut and when they shake hands Jamie see’s stars and Hazel’s eyes roll in the back of her head and then she passes out. Fantastic story I loved it and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

I really enjoyed reading about Hazel and Jamie- my only gripe is that I wish the story was longer.....and that it had another book....oh maybe a trilogy would have been good! There are a lot of events happening in the short time that Hazel meets Jamie...its wonderful how fate works mysteriously at getting people in the right spot at the right time.
The writing is amazing, the characters are wonderful and the story kept me engaged from start to finish. Reading short stories can be a tad frustrating sometimes - having all the events happening in such a short time, but this has been one of the best short stories that I've read in a while.

Can we please have a series of Hazel and Jamie? I need mooooooorrreeeeeeee........ :-)

Iv read many books by the author and liked them, but with this book she came in to her own i loved everything about this book.

Hazel is a witch shes in a bit of a tough patch when one of her former coven members curses her... or so she thinks. Her magic is not up to par and nothing going right. Then Jamie comes in...

Jamie's Grandmother is Hazel mentor when he comes by her shop and Hazel faints he doesnt know what to think but...... its an instant connection and both experience something.

This book takes a very entertaining turn which i dont want to spoil but its flaming awesome. ooo and i have to add the smexy scenes were spot on i feel like so much more went in to them.

And i loved the epilogues

When a curse isn't really a curse and brings True Love
Hazel is cursed or so she thinks until Jamie walks in to her shop. Is it True Love or just a messed up spell? The chemistry is off the charts, now Hazel just needs to keep Jamie safe after the visions she's had of him in danger and make sure what they have is truly real. Great story. I'm loving these quick, magical stories of finding the one.

Very short read. Good for a lunch break. The book is very fast pace and skips a lot of in betweens. We have Hazel who left her coven and has been cursed. Jamie comes to town and sparks fly. What really was the curse? Did the curse bring Jamie? Is this true love?

It's not bad. Though it tried to include way too much, and managed to get everything half-baked. There are two epilogues with time skips, and we're told a lot but shown nothing there. It should have ended when they made love and her magic was restored. No need for all the dragon nonsense that doesn't even get fully explained anyway.

The Witch and True Love. Short romantic read about a witch who thought she lost all her powers through a curse but, in reality, was cursed with a love spell. Her attraction to her mentor's grandson was immediate but it took some time to realize they were fated mates.

For some reason, Hazel Bishop’s magic has been failing her as herbs she is using in the salves she is making for people turn black and crumble. She doesn’t know what is wrong, but her orders are backing up and she can’t afford to keep replacing the ruined supplies. She talked about it to her dog familiar, and strangely as he answered her he let out a small “bark” in each sentence! He had never done that before. Was he losing his ability to talk to her? The door to her shop opened and Marissa Warfield came in to tell her that 7 other witches quit the coven after she did. This was extremely unusual. Marissa was angry and blamed Hazel for turning the witches against her. She spitefully had put a curse on Hazel and laughed scornfully when she said only true love could break the curse, knowing Hazel had confided in her that she would never love again!

Jaime arrived at night at the cottage his Grandma Gertie had offered him in Diablo Falls when she retired and went to stay with Jaime’s brother and his family. He went to buy camping supplies the next morning, and was intrigued with the custom tea being sold in the Bishop Magick & Apothecary Shop, so he stopped in. He spotted a picture of Grandma Gertie standing with the shop owner! They introduce themselves and shake hands which has each of them seeing a vision, then Hazel passes out in front of him!

Jaime packed his camping gear and laid on his sleeping bag beside a fire at the waterfalls. Hazel again had the vision of his being injured and writhing in pain as he called her name. It woke her and she raced out of the house to heal him! She startled him as she knelt beside him and checked his body for wounds – until it became clear to them that he was not writhing in “pain”, he was fantasizing about HER! They spent the night together in his tent, their attraction so strong and so right. Then she left early in the morning while he slept. Her familiar Skip was talking in complete sentences again! And when she turned around, her magic was cooking up breakfast! But at the thought of why, she wasn’t ready to admit she could love again like that. She screamed, “No!”, and the bowl of eggs fell to the floor as the whisk slid across the kitchen.

As Jaime packs to return home, something shiny in the woods seems to be watching him. It suddenly attacks, a giant lizard-like creature as big as a Rottweiler and with a spiked tail. It tears at his stomach and licks the blood, and Jaime’s bleeding stomach burns like fire. A larger creature goes after the one that attacked him, but his keys are missing, lost when he was attacked. He is weakened from blood loss as he rolls onto his back. Will he survive this? What attacked him? Why didn’t Hazel see this in a vision?

This was a good story. The characters themselves are wonderful and the story line kept me engaged from start to finish. Just when I thought the excitement was over, the author throws in another surprise! Grab your copy and see whether Hazel and Jaime will lose the HEA they seemed to be heading for!

Being a witch in Diablo Falls isn't something that's out of the ordinary, given that Diablo Falls is a hot bed of supernatural activity. But when you're a practicing witch, who seems to have lost the ability to cast spells that don't backfire, you start to question everything you ever knew to be true. Especially when your "rival" tells you that they've cursed you, and only true love can break the spell.

Jamie is looking for a new start in Diablo Falls, where he spent summers as a young boy with his grandmother, Gertie, who happens to also be a good friend of Hazel's. When their paths cross, everything that each of them was seeking seems to start to fall in to place. With just one giant obstacle.

Reading this story was like walking into a modern day fairy tale. I enjoyed seeing how Hazel and Jamie's relationship developed, and how they overcame obstacles to be with one another. I would have liked to read more of their story, to see how things developed more. Otherwise, this was one that was definitely enjoyable, and I look forward to reading more!

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is a new series by The Bite Club, a group of authors that write paranormal romance. This series takes place in the fictional town Diablo falls. In this book, Hazel is a witch who runs a store that sells a variety of potions. When Haze;s friend and mentor Gertie retired, she left her coven, and others followed, angering Marissa, who curses Hazel so her magic doesn't work. Hazel meets Jamie when he comes into the store for tea and she has a vision of him. Jamie is staying at his grandmother Gertie's house, but goes camping for a few days first. When he meets Hazel, he is attracted to her. When Hazel thinks Jamie is in trouble, she goes to him to help. I really liked this story. I liked Jamie and Hazel together. Hazel's familiar Skip was adorable and i think he was very funny. I think Hazel and Jamie had an instant connection and i think Hazel learned things were not what she first thought. Good one.

Hazel's magic has been going crazy since she left her coven. Everything she tried went wonky on her and she didn't know why. Until a witch from her former coven accused her of starting a new coven because more members left after her. She was stunned because she wasn't practicing with others but more because of the curse the witch used her fear against her only true love would break it. Jamie recently lost his job due to downsizing so his grandmother offered her cottage for a place for him to go. He ends up stopping by Hazel's place to see her and Hazel faints. They both experience flashes of something and a connection between them is made. Could this be how Hazel's curse will be ended?

This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I didn't want this story to end. It was great. I love reading anything by this author. I am really enjoying the Diablo Falls series.

Something is going on with Hazel's magic and she can't figure out what. When a member of her former coven curses her, she isn't sure how to break it. Jamie is moving into his grandmother's home and stops in Hazel's shop for some tea. They have a spark and she has a vision of him in danger. Will she be able to get her powers back in time?

I thoroughly enjoyed this paranormal short story! It's very creative and well written. Diablo Falls seems like a very intriguing place and a safe haven for most creatures, that is unless you have a newly hatched dragon and a witch cursing people. This a fast paced and addictive story. Very interesting and intriguing plot. Hazel and Jamie meet and it is instant; almost love at first sight. I like the fist time she tries to save him. The added bonus is the dragon and the dog. This is a very sexy, steamy story with some danger, action, twists and unexpected surprises.

Hazel is a witch in Diablo Falls who had just been cursed by another witch. Hazel’s powers are all wonky now. Jamie has been given his grandmother’s house and is just moving to town. When hazel and Jamie touch hands they both have visions of each other. They have an interesting story to their HEA with the least likely of creatures.

Well written story full of magic, action, danger and steam

This is a first read for me by this author and I have to say that I absolutely loved my intro to her work! There isn't a lot of time, in a short story, to pull of well rounded characters, back history, current drama and a steamy romance but Ms. Starr managed it very well. I look forward to exploring other books by her. I am really loving this Diablo Falls collection of stories for their variety in supernatural adventures.

A quick enjoyable read. I felt that the author had the ability to convey some depth to the personalities of the characters bringing a greater sense of reality to her story.

The writing draws you in and keeps you interested until the end. The chemistry between the H and h is great plus their attitudes and events going on make the story even richer.

A magic connection
What an amazing story about putting into the world what you hope to get back. This book starts with a curse, that may end up being a blessing, but certainly leads to a HEA you won’t want to miss. You are in for a surprise that will rock your world. I love this book and can’t wait to read the next one
