Eric Chaisson tiene un libro que es una obra maestra, pero no es este. En este nos habla de muchas cosas. Muchas. Empezamos en el Big Bang, presenciamos la nucleosíntesis, cuando el Universo se enfría lo suficiente para permitir la formación de hidrógeno, llegamos al punto en el que el Universo se hace transparente (cuando baja la temperatura una vez más lo suficiente como para que los fotones puedan viajar y no sean inmediatamente reabsorbidos por otro núcleo) y dando fast forward de vez en cuando aparecemos en la formación del Sistema Solar, Tierra incluida. Luego llega la geología, Pangea, la tectónica de placas, el registro fósil, y acaba mirándonos a nosotros, un mono bípedo con ínfulas.
El libro está muy bien pero da para varios tomos. Está todo, si no apresurado, sí bastante comprimido, y no da tiempo a asimilar.
La parte final, un mini ensayo del autor sobre el futuro de la Humanidad que da título al libro, no pega nada con el resto.
