Adorably naive and shockingly brilliant Harrison Lessardi only needs two things in life: his pet iguana, Steve, and his undying love of science. That is until he witnesses his best friend lay eggs, and a third must-have strolls into his apartment - the sardonic and mischievous Everard Drake.
Everard Drake, celebrated doctor of the tremendously wealthy Drake family, has one goal in mind when he arrives at the scene of his youngest brother's latest disaster: incinerate Harrison Lessardi. Unfortunately for Everard, the moment he spots Harry, incineration becomes an impossibility - he must have the gorgeous beta as his own, even if it means holding him captive on his estate.
But something else lurks behind Everard's interest in Harry - something that tugs at Everard's soul in impossible ways, and that will send Everard and Harry down a rabbit hole of discovery that will change the world as they know it.
An alpha and a beta can't share a bond.
Can they?
Bond is a 78,000 word steamy omegaverse mpreg-ish romance that will leave you in stitches. It contains an unexpectedly consensual kidnapping, giant magical lizards, an iguana with a full wardrobe named Steve, never-ending nicknames, and a HEA that may, or may not involve mosquito nets. For maximum enjoyment, Bond is best heard following the events of Clutch.
Piper Scott debuted as a trio of authors looking to write together for fun. Their collaboration led to three novella-length books (Love Me, Save Me, and Keep Me,) before life sent them in different directions, leaving just one author with an omegaverse plot bunny that wouldn’t leave her alone. Obey was born several months later… but the plot bunny never left—it multiplied.
Left to her own devices, Piper Scott writes scorching but heartfelt contemporary omegaverse romance about men you can’t help but fall in love with.
This was my favorite book when I read it and it’s still my favorite in the series when I did a reread by listening. Michael Ferraiuolo added a whole new depth to my favorite Dragon Mpreg book. Just spectacular! 😍
Original review: Edited version
I loved Nate and Alistair’s love story but I knew that I’d fall head over heels in love with Harry’s story. 😁 I mean the inquisitive, innocent and quirky Harry and his pet iguana Steve! And a snarky, impatient but super handsome Dragon Doctor Everard?!?!?! This story has my name written all over it! 😉 And boy oh boy, how I loved my omega-beta and his Eggy daddy Ev! They are purrrfect for each other! 😍
The endearments are getting more and more preposterous and hilarious and I looooooved every single second reading/listening this book. 😍 Harry’s story is everything I hoped I would get and more! Harry and Everard might be one of the most hilarious couples I’ve ever read. 😂 The banters are just so funny and awkwardly hilarious that I snorted out whatever liquid was in my mouth several times! 🤣👏 And Steve!!! Oh, Steve the big dragon brother iguana with adorably quirky t-shirts!!!! 🥰 And baby dragons and a dragon manny!!! And miracle egg laying!!!! 😱 This book was everything!!!!! 💜 Now, I freaking can’t wait for Ian and Geoffrey’s book because that’d be onehelluva interesting story to unfold. And again, Harry!!!!!!! Innocent, gullible, super inquisitive and adorably oblivious Harry! 😍 And that kinky bastard Reverard who sullied my boy’s innocence! 😁 Ok, I forgive him because they are so cute together!!!! I just wanna go all “awwwwwwwww” now! 😍🥰😍🥰😍 So sweet! 💜 Undoubtedly, one of the most satisfying books I’ve ever read/listened. 😌
5 Dragons really love to eat virgins stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Audio – 5 +++ Star! Masterful performance by Michael Ferraiuolo!! Story – 4.5 omega-beta stars!! Round up for Harry
Harry gets all the stars!! OMG! Talk about a genius who is beyond adorable and clueless. He'll drive you crazy, but at the same time, he’s irresistibly loveable! He's side kick, Steve, gets the love too.
This story was fluff at it’s best!!
To my Bestie, Lorraine, your deal breaker threat is null and void! I agree, BEST EVER!!! :-*
Well, well, well. I thought Everard was kind of douchey in book 1. I hated how he talked to Alistair or about him. So color me surprised when he won me over and I actually wanted him to fall for Harry his little crumpet, pot pie, lamb chop, creme brulee, sweet pea 😂. His names for Harry cracked me up.
Harry, oh sweet, naive Harry. No filter Harry. Adorable reptile loving Harry. What else can I say...he was the main reason I even picked this one up. I wanted him to get his egg and his eggy daddy.
I'm a little curious as to how book 3 is going to go...Geoffrey hasn't been that interesting for me but I like the idea of a menage so we shall see.
But guess who I can't wait to see get snagged by a "Disgrace"? Dear old daddy Grimbold. I hope his omega brings him to his knees 😈.
I absolutely LOVED Harry!! I loved Ev too but holy shit he was so rude to poor Al. The two of them together was adorable and heartwarming; and the nick names!!! I liked this book so much better than the first one and couldn’t put it down. The secondary characters were fun to read about and I never got bored. In conclusion is was utterly and adorably perfect
Reread 6/21 Ahhh loved as much as the first time!!! Was Ev a bit rude? Yes but I think that’s just siblings for you. I know I’m a duck to my little sister sometimes. The nicknames are just as good as the first time, when he called him bon bon 😍 or this funny little expert “When it comes to you cum pet I’m always agreeable” Harry blinked “What did you say?” “I said I’m always agreeable when it comes you, crumpet” *sight* I love them so much!!! Harry has to be my favorite literary character of all time, he’s incredibly kind, sweet, intelligent, and just so sweet🥰🥰🥰 And snarky little Ev, although there were doubts in the beginning, treats him like a king. And we can’t forget our favorite iguana Steve!! I will definitely be reading this again in the future❤️❤️
Audiobook August 2019: 5 Stars for the narration!!! 4.5 Stars for the story!! And all the stars for #TeamSteve !!! I LOVED IT WAY MORE LISTENING TO THIS! Beware, lamb chop, this WILL MAKE YOU LAUGH OUT LOUD!!! I also love that we have an MC on the grey-ace spectrum (Harry)!!
Original review: Jan 2019–
I love this series!!
This dragon-shifter egg-preg romance parallels the story in book 1. Here we get to see Harry and Ev's story and it's delightful. And it's funny as hell!!
I admit that Harry was annoying in the first book, but here the same personality makes total sense!
And....that's it for the review. Sorry, but I'm tired.
ETA: Felt like having a re-read of this and chose the audio this time around, and I just love it just as much. Maybe more, listening to it again. Harry's voice is just beyond precious and I love how Michael narrates him.
HARRY! <3 <3 <3 Harry is actually a cinnamon roll, no question about it. And I love him, will fight for him, and want to give him a big hug!
I’ve loved Ev and Harry since they were first introduced, so getting their full story has been just perfect. Harry is obsessed with all things dragon - after all, his studies are in reptiles. He’s full of questions and is very scientific in his approach to things. He’s delighted when he finds out that Everard is kidnapping him, and then when he gets to babysit Sebastian and Percy’s baby dragons, he thinks life couldn’t be any better. If Harry can’t be a dragon’s mate and have what they have, then he’s got the next best thing…right?
I loved the progression of this story, that the relationship between Harry and Ev was slower than that between Iggy and Alistair. Also? This story wins for best pet names, ever! Kumquat, chicken cutlet, crumpet, sweet potato, little creme brûlée, I don’t know what my favorite name was that Ev called Harry at some point in this story, but they were adorable and I loved them! Might be the first story where overuse of pet names didn’t bug the hell out of me.
I also like the idea of updating dragon traditions and how people like Harry and Nate are helping bring some equality to the dragons and modernizing their way of thinking.
All in all, a fantastic book. It’s a bit cracky, but it’s also brilliant. It’s sexy, funny, romantic, and so unique! I can’t recommend this highly enough as it's some of my favorite work from these two authors. They are magic together. Highly recommended, start with Clutch!
Cannot wait for the next book with Geoff!
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Generally as I read a series I am always hopeful that each book improves as you go along. Often it's more of a bumpy ride, yet at times you get lucky. This is one of those times. I gave "Clutch" book one of this series 5 stars cuz it deserved it. This one gets 5 stars as well, but the authors have outdone themselves and created perfection! I had HUGE hopes for book two simply because one of its two main characters is Harry, who we met and I fell in love with not just because the authors did such an astounding job creating him but simply because Harry is Harry and he stands head and shoulders above most characters in his uniqueness, brilliance and sweet naiveness. He also is Ffing hilarious. Paired up with Everard the two are unstoppable not too mention sexy as hell. Harry and Everard may be my favorite book couple ever! The snarky humor, Ev's too cute food nicknames for Harry and the way Harry more often than not takes everything anyone says literally are just a few of the reasons I love them so much. If I could give this book 10 stars I would. The authors have written an awesome story and they have continued to build their world in its complexity, diversity and wonder. Any world with dragons in it is magical (yes, I LOVE DRAGONS), the people in this book are enough to hook me but the authors have taken this series in directions that fascinate me and will guarantee I will be reading all the rest of this series and soon as they are released. I can't wait to read Geoffry and Ian's book and learn what other dragony and magical excitement the authors will think up next! What a truly awesome, humorous, sexy and fun rollercoaster of a read this was!
I’m really in love with this series, the story and narration are perfect and I am goo on the floor over Dragon babies 😭😭😭. Also second book is hilarious and I lived for what food Everard would call Harry because it seems he’s an encyclopedia of foodie endearments (my heart).
While I like certain aspects of this series, there is one thing that prevents me from really liking it, and that’s that I hate the dragon world/rules.
I hate how these dragons think having millions is being poor, and how they have to be billionaires to be able to have a mate and children. And I get that this has been the dragon council’s way of thinking for centuries, but I never felt as if the rest of the characters disagreed with them.
I noticed several times that Everard told people that he had billions and that he wasn’t poor like his brother Alistair who only had millions. I did not like that message at all.
I just can’t handle a world where everything is determined by some ancient council and people and dragons just need to go with it.
It did have some nice fluffy moments, and of course I LOVED Harry, but not even Harry could make me like this world more.
And I liked the slightly more ‘serious’ feel to Harry and Ev’s story. Saying that, this is still very humorous and on the light side of reading.
Ev’s habit of using food vocabulary for addressing people is hilarious (‘lettuce leaf’ is one of my top favourites, the author must have had a ball with this!), and it’s even funnier when he’s using them for terms of endearment. Harry’s endless rambling of questions (not unlike a toddler) might have been a tad much for me to start with, but I admit it, the guy totally grew on me, and it was quite endearing to be honest, particularly as he is very clever and brilliant at the same time. Meeting his parents is one of the funniest scenes in this book, I think.
Harry is innocent enough for this century, (and another, as Ev drily comments at one point), but once he gets a taste of sex … the heat is more than on! Loved the virgin vibes and all the firsts, Ev’s very sexy way of using his fire and their needy love making.
I also appreciated a couple of plot twists and one or two surprising revelations, some also concerning Nate from book 1, as well as finding that there IS a plot arcing over each couple's story That is exactly what I’d hoped for!
And of course, there are baby dragons galore! The connection between them and their parents is totally precious and very cute. (Can’t believe I’m really saying that, LOL!)
Audio Review 31Dec2019: After listening to the last one I thought having Michael F narrating was a great choice. Listening to this one? It's a positively inspired decision. He gives Ev's scathing cuts the perfect amount of derision & makes his food-based nicknames for Harry even more adorable. Still loving Harry & Steve...and I want some of those outfits for my doggie!
Original Rating 02Mar2019: That extra star is all for Harry. I loved him. And Steve. OMG Steve. Adorable. Also, for Science.
This is really a fun series and I am doing my damnedest to not take it seriously.
But Everard does not make it easy. He was hard to like in Clutch and I had a hard time shaking that feeling. He is much better in this one but he still bugs me and I can’t exactly figure out what it is.
Everyone seems to love Harry and yeah, I can totally see why. He just didn’t knock my socks off. He was really cute and he made me smile but he just seemed so freaking naïve to everything and I wonder how he has survived at all.
I am not a huge fan of books in a series taking place at the same time. I don’t think we got a new time frame until at least 50% or so. Now, it wasn’t a retelling but I still couldn’t wait to get past what I already knew to have happened.
Anyway, I like where this installment took us with the dragons and the magic even if I was slightly confused. I can’t even imagine how the next book is going to go, YIKES! Should be really interesting.
Forgive my negativity. I did enjoy myself. I’m having a really shitty day and I am not used to having bad days (my life is normally sunshine and rainbows, seriously) and probably should have held off on writing this review.
Reread/Relisten#3: April 2024 Bumping up the rating to a 5 star!
Love these two, they are my favorite couple that i remember from this series, and that still holds true at the moment haha!
Reread/Relisten#2: May 2022
Same rating as before. I just love Harry and Ev's dynamic, its so cute and nerdy haha.
Reread/Relisten#1: June 2021
Still the same as before Harry is such a sweet innocent character that you just wanna squeeze!
Can’t wait to read about Perry now that the audiobook is out!
Original Read/Listen May 2021 Audio: 5 stars Book: 4 stars
I enjoyed this I think more than the first Harry is such a sweet and innocent character you just want nothing bad to happen to him.
This timeline is almost parallel to the first book, you see some of the same major events playing out in this book but obviously in another perspective haha
Everard and Harry are great their banter is perfect and made me laugh more times than I could count. Also I think it’s also because of Michael Ferraiuolo’s narrations, he does such a good job with the timing of all the jokes and how people should say them.
Now on to Geoffrey’s book, I am a bit hesitant since I am not a huge Geoffrey fan but maybe the next book will change my opinion!
3.75 stars How this author came up with so many different food endearments was entertaining. I was waiting for each new one thinking she was going to run out...she didn't lol I really liked this one better than the previous. Harry is really sweet, quite naive and so endearing. Everard was a nice surprise. He was kind of a jerk in book 1 but his relationship with Harry really changed him, well at least to Harry. Let's not forget Steve and his awesome t-shirts. I loved it! Overall another fun read. Bring on book 3.
Bond is the second book in the Forbidden Desires series, following the really enjoyable Clutch. This book actually overlaps the timeline of that story almost completely, beginning when Nate lays his eggs and continuing until shortly after he gives birth. Some of the same events are touched upon, only from Harry or Everard’s POV, like when Harry witnesses Perry’s eggs hatch, but there is a lot of new story here as well. So I definitely think you will benefit from having read that first book, both to keep up with the events we see here, and also to be familiar with the world these authors have created.
As I mentioned in my review of Clutch, I really wasn’t sure what to expect from a series with dragon shifters and mpreg, but I was really impressed with the world building and character development, and that continues here with this story. Without giving anything away, the world building really takes off here as a result of Harry’s scientific brain and some research he and Everard conduct at the behest of Everard’s father into bonded mates. So as the guys discover more about this world, we do as well, and I think the authors continue to really build an interesting and engaging world here that is unique even among omegaverse stories. This is one of the strongest aspects of this book for me and I think it is done quite well.
This book was so cute and funny! Harry and Everard were brilliant together! I’m heavily invested in this world already and I can’t wait to read the next book!
5 ☆s I loved this book so much. I Had a huge smile on my face the whole time I was reading it. I fell in love with Ev a bit more everytime he used a new ridiculously adorable nickname for sweet, clueless Harry. Looking forward to Geoffreys book! X
The fun continues in this, the second installment of the dragons version of The Young and the Restless. So many distinct alpha males in the Amethyst family. So many stories yet to be told. Here we have Everard, the doctor. I will say Everard didn't pull me as much as Alistair in the first book. He's a little too cocky, and mean to his brother Alistair. You can let go of the shitty commentary at this point Dear Author, we get it. Alistair was the runt of the litter. Move on. Everard loves Harry though, our bright and shining star of book two. Harry is brilliant and adorable. Completely clueless. Innocent. The show stopper? Steve, the handsomely dressed iguana.
The story arc comes out in book two, which will ultimately connect all of the books. Very interesting. Serious but not. There is drama but surprisingly enough, no eye rolls. I like that.
These alpha shifters could care less if you like them or not. Dragons are so cool.
This book was so much fun and I demand that Harry appear in every book in this series! He is possibly the sweetest, smartest yet most naïve, man I've read, but his willingness and joy at the thought of being eaten by a dragon for SCIENCE!? His stream of consciousness questioning of the world he stumbles into? He got me every time he opened his mouth. Everard's ridiculous yet hysterical series of pet names for Harry and his initial annoyance contrasted with the reverence with which he made Harry (and by extension Steve) the most important thing in his hoard was all kinds of sweet.
Anyway, I liked that this book gave us more about the dragon world and explained a bit of what I questioned in the prior story, merging both magic and science to make it all more believable. The story took an interesting turn and the setup for another story also has me wondering what direction it will go. I just hope that we get another dose of Everard, Harry, Darwin and Steve along with it.
I will admit to being a total Harry fangirl. I love him and I hated every time someone was mean to him. He is the best omegabeta and deserves to be happy.
Dragons are not really nice people in this world and I'm glad Harry is there to save the omega dragons and make it a little better.
This is my favorite book of the series and I have read this in audio over and over again and this is definitely a comfort read.
Michael Ferraiuolo's narration was perfect and he was the best choice for the series.
Well this was fun! I liked Harry and Ev's quirky relationship a lot better than Nate and Alister's. Also, Ev's endearment terms for Harry definitely gave me the munchies. LOL
This second installment makes me howl with laughter. I have never read such a clueless and naive person like Harry. Omg. How did he even survived for so long in this world is a mystery. The timeline in Bond is almost parallel to Clutch, so we get to see what happened between Harry and Everard while Nate was nesting with his eggs. Prior to reading this, I thought Harry's behavior is too OTT, he seems too enthusiastic about everything dragon and his verbal diarrhea can be tiring. As for Everard, I don't like the way he was so rude to Alastair. However, I have definitely warm up to him, as I learned that Everard is just naturally rude to everyone and not just Alastair. He has this air of superiority about him. And what's up with all the different food related endearment? Everytime he blurt out one of those, I would burst out laughing and subsequently feeling hungry. Harry and Everard together just make me cackled most of the time. Harry's mind is too cray cray and Everard is perplexed and just try to go with the flow. I do find that their relationship development is much stronger compare to Nate and Alastair. They seems to have more time to get to know each other before getting together. In fact, in the beginning Harry seems almost asexual to me as sex is not something that cross his mind. Oh, how I love the way Everard corrupted him and brought our little virginal Harry to the dark side.
Yes, yes, I know that's a komodo dragon but let's just pretend for a minute that it's actually an iguana. Steve, in particular.
Bond was a great follow-up and I loved getting to know more about Everard. Throughout Clutch, he always entertained me when he would pop up at the most inopportune times. He didn't disappoint me in this book, either! Although, I did get a little tired of the food nicknames. But it made it all the more special when he did use Harry's real name, which I think, is the point.
I also liked getting to know more about the Drake family. Geoffrey is an intriguing little dragon lawyer, isn't he? I can't wait to find out what kind of information he's hiding. Heh.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Everard slowly grew on me...he's a tad abrasive but his food-based nicknames for Harry won me over (clementine, pork-pie, tenderloin, crumpet, pot-sticker, dumpling...etc).
It was cute how he would get offended when people thought his dragon was pink.
Harry is just adorable with his un-tainted view on the world. He was pretty much asexual until he met Ev and is so blunt with all his questions.
