A lionhearted hero + scheming shifter factions = unforgettable PNR!
“Rebel with a cause” Gemma Archer flees Boston one step ahead of a creepy stalker. Now she’s in London, trying to build a new normal — and absolutely, positively not getting involved with any men. That is, until an irresistible stranger prowls into her life. Liam is a sweet, sexy modern-day knight who sparks her sizzling desires. The problem? He’s as loony as some of her relatives. Dragons? Lion shifters? Werewolves? The poor man really seems to believe the tales he spins.
Liam Bennett is fresh out of the military and doing his best to adjust to civilian life. But fitting in was never his forte as a shifter of mixed blood. He’s part lion — a member of London’s most noble family — and part rogue, with “undesirable” dragon blood. When the Guardians of London hire him to help maintain law and order, Liam jumps at the chance to prove himself. Soon, he discovers nothing is as it seems — not among his allies, enemies, or even his own family. The only thing he can be sure of is the danger Gemma is in.
A deadly foe has stalked Gemma for thousands of miles, and Liam has no choice but to spirit away his destined mate to his ancestral dragon home — the remote castle in Wales he’s been avoiding for years. But hiding out is not enough. Can Liam and Gemma survive cunning enemies and the deceptions of the past?
Anna Lowe’s FIRE MAIDENS: Billionaires & Bodyguards series Danger lurks over Europe, where a ruthless dragon clan plots to seize power in the grandest, most glamorous cities. The guardians of old have summoned a new generation of shifter heroes to protect the castles, cathedrals, and cobblestoned streets of their ancestral homes — and to seek out the last of the Fire Maidens, women coveted by the dark lords for their royal blood. Those women are absolutely off-limits to the young warriors tasked with protecting them. But destiny, of course, has other ideas…

If you like smoldering hot shapeshifters, military heroes, and royal intrigue, you'll love these books. Join these strong heroines and their alpha heroes in atmospheric locales filled with danger & suspense!
USA Today and Amazon best-selling author Anna Lowe loves putting the "hero" back into heroine and letting location ignite a passionate romance. She likes a heroine who is independent, intelligent, and imperfect — a woman who's doing just fine on her own. But give the heroine a good man (not to mention a chance to overcome her own inhibitions) and she'll never turn down the chance for adventure, nor shy away from danger.
On any given weekend, you might find her hiking in the mountains or hunched over her laptop, working on her latest story. Either way, the day will end with a chunk of dark chocolate and a good read.
Book 2 in Fire Maiden book by Anna Lowe I was apprehensive to read/listen to this because it is the London one. I love audiobooks but not many narrators pull off British accent and I love Kelsey Osborne narration and I shouldn’t have worried. Even though Kelsey Osborne didn’t really do accents as such with the characters but got posher when dealing with the upper class characters instead. This a totally enjoyable instead of me thinking that is a terrible accent I was just able to enjoy the story and get completely suck in like I usually do with a Anna Lowe book. Gemma leaves America to stay with her British father after being stalked by a weird guy but when she get on tube to go to a rally she comes across another weird creepy guy but before he can do anything Liam a lion shifter steps in a saved her. I absolutely love that this is based in uk and that the writer took the time to really research London and even tube stops but also has beautiful Wales in it as well. Really looking forward to more in this series especially Liam friends that helped him in this book.
Wow! What a beginning! Action from page one! Gemma Archer is on the run! She is being stalked by a crazy guy called Petro. He tells her that she is his maiden! I mean, who talks like that these days? Gemma can’t understand why he’s pursuing her. After all she considers herself to be more the girl next door type, not a beauty. Luckily she can go to her father in London but she makes a number of plane changes and pays in cash for the tickets. She’s taking no chances! Once in London she gets a part time job and finds a house-sitting job on a cute houseboat. Then, DISASTER! She is on the Tube, on her way to work, when she sees a man who looks uncannily like Petro! He sees her and immediately boards the train! He is making his way towards her with that smarmy, creepy smirk on his face that Petro had and he is mouthing the same words! You are mine maiden! She frantically tries to decide what to do when ‘Sir Lancelot’ gets into the carriage between them. ‘Sir Lancelot’ is Liam Bennett who we last met in Fire Maidens: Paris. He has finished a ten year stint in the Foreign Legion and has returned to London to take up his duties as a Guardian but he’s also walked back into the same old problems that he’s always had. Why? Because he is the son of a highly ranked Lion shifter mother and a Welsh dragon! His maternal family take him in as a child after his parents died but have always put his father down and denigrated his dragon blood to the point that he is ashamed of it. He is on his way home when he steps into the situation with Gemma. He immediately recognises the creep as a dragon shifter, probably a Lombardi a clan of evil dragons who have been causing problems all over the world. The Petro look alike backs off from a confrontation with Liam which gives Liam and Gemma a chance to meet. They are both immediately smitten and would like to get to know one another but duty calls and Liam is called away. Don’t worry! Fate is at work here and you’re in for a great ride! A mixture of action and romance, this is a gem of a story that will appeal to all fans of Anna Lowe and anyone who likes their romance a bit more adventurous! It can be read as a stand-alone but I’d also recommend Fire Maidens: Paris! I have voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving an ARC from the author.
Gemma is enjoying London, despite trying to escape a stalker being the reason she's there. She's determined to avoid any complications aka men, but that is impossible to do when she instantly feels a connection to Liam, her rescuer. Except it seems he may not be quite stable, talking about shifters and such. Just her luck.
Liam is a shifter with mixed blood, making him somewhat of an anomaly, and not exactly popular with some. So, when he's offered a job with the Guardians, he accepts, wanting to show the naysayers his worth. And then he meets Gemma and all his skills will be put to the test as he must keep the woman he knows is meant to be his safe.
Will truths are revealed about both Liam and Gemma, how will she react to the news? Does it have anything to do with why her stalker was so determined to claim her as his? Will Liam's duty get in the way of love or can the two be combined? How far will some go to use Gemma for their own purposes? And are they willing to take on a shifter such as Liam to do it?
One-click now and follow along as two halves are made whole. I can't wait to see who finds love next.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
European Dragon/Lion-shifter story – Highly Entertaining!!
Gemma is running from a stalker. She moves to London to be near her father who worries her with tales of dragons and things which cannot exist. When a knight in shining armor also speaks of shifters frustration rules. No matter how sweet and sexy he is, she can’t deal with any more tall tales.
Except those tales are true, and she is in danger.
Liam is part dragon and part lion. Looked down on some because he is not “pure”. When he saves a young woman, who turns out to be his mate things get very complicated.
This series – and the related ones set in Hawaii are all full of intrigue, danger, shifter antics, romance and humor. They deliver every aspect you could want in a highly entertaining package.
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
Second in the Billionaires & Bodyguards paranormal romance series and revolving around Fire Maidens, who strengthen the magic of their cities. The couple focus is on Gemma Archer and Liam Bennett.
My Take Issues. Issues. Issues. Subway is New York. The Underground, or Tube, uses carriages or cars. The series name? I have no idea how it relates to the story. I think it strayed over from somewhere and got lost.
And if you’re looking for an example of tell, Fire Maidens: London is it.
Everything we experience is through third person dual protagonist point-of-view from Gemma’s and Liam’s perspectives.
Ya gotta give Gemma credit for wanting to help make the world better, and it does play into Gemma’s final role. As for her kindly approach to the obviously mad Liam, I had to laugh. It’s too bad Lowe didn’t take advantage of any of this to create drama and tension. I must give Lowe credit for taking advantage of Gemma’s parents’ divorce to color how Gemma looks at marriage. Although, then again, she doesn’t really make use of it.
Lowe’s characterization of the various species of shapeshifters different approaches to love was a crack-up. And another instance of Lowe letting a opportunity for drama/tension go by.
Other than overweening pride, no pun intended, why was the maternal side of Liam’s family so anti his father? Bloodlines couldn’t have been the only reason for their nastiness.
Although, when you read of the Guardians’ “plans” for Gemma, you’ll be appalled by their arrogance.
With all the chat about those bracelets, I’m surprised Lowe didn’t actually go anywhere with this. As for Gemma’s dad constantly telling her how awful dragons are, why? Since both sides of Gemma’s family were all dragons?
It’s a lightweight story that is a too-easy read. There are a few exciting bits, and my favorite part is the end when Gemma steps up and stands Electra down, lol.
The Story Fleeing a terrifying stalker in Boston, Gemma has joined her father in London, relieved (and hopeful) that she’s safe.
Liam Bennett had such hopes for helping to protect London until his eyes are opened by the Guardians’ ruthlessness . . . especially since he’s met and is already in love with their target.
The Characters Gemma Archer (she has a degree in sociology, a minor in geography, and a slew of fencing awards) is enjoying her independence by house-, er, barge-sitting in Regent’s Canal on the Valhalla. Her father, Alastair, is a retired lawyer with a lifelong fascination with fantasy, who keeps his hand in with pro bono causes. Winston is Dad’s slobbery bulldog. Steven owns a map shop and is Gemma’s boss and her father’s friend.
Liam Bennett is a half-breed shifter who has recently retired from the Foreign Legion. His parents were a Welsh dragon and Elspeth, a lion of the Blackwood pride. Shifters. Members of his unit (and the protagonists in other series stories) include the very fashionable Sergio Monserratti, an Italian wolf shifter; Tristan Chevalier (Natalie is his Fire Maiden mate; Fire Maidens: Paris); and, Marco.
Liam’s mother’s family includes his cousin Brianna and the autocratic Aunt Lucinda (Electra is her aunt). Uncle Hendrick is dead. Jensen is the butler. Gareth, a raven-shifter, has cared for the Bennett family (and their castle in Wales) for decades.
The Guardians are . . . . . . shifters whose headquarters in London is Lionsgate Hall where the Council of Elders meets. Lions are the dominant members and include the very imposing Electra Huxley, Augustus Llewis-Jones, Frederick Ainsworth, the egotistical yet weak Archibald, Daniel, and, Thomas. Rutland is a mercenary lion shifter. Fergus MacGregor leads the Scottish unicorns. Eamonn Barley, one of the last of the giant deer, is from Northern Ireland. Cian Talog is the leader of the Welsh dragons. Lady Miriam Burke-Smythe is the suggestion for personal secretary.
The Lombardis are a dragon clan which had been exiled from Europe decades ago. Their leader is Enzo with younger members including Lorenzo, Petro (Gemma's Boston stalker), and Jacqueline.
Fire Maidens are ancestors? of Queen Liviana, a dragon. Wouldn't that be descendants? Their bloodline protects the great cities of Europe. Their existence in the city alone reinforces the power of the ancient spells. Rhiannon was a Fire Maiden in the thirteenth century.
The Cover and Title The cover is of blues and purples for a night sky and pink splotches with a partial moon in front of which a dragon is flying. A lit-up Big Ben is part of the background. In the foreground is a well-cut male torso with his hands in his jeans pockets, a line of his underwear showing above his paint-speckled belt. Starting mid-chest is the golden, fiery title gradating into a deeper pink. A gold crown tops the "R". The author's name incorporates that pink at the very bottom. Above her name is an info blurb in white. All the text is shadowed in black.
The title is prosaically informative, as the story is of Fire Maidens: London.
First let let me start off by saying this is the second book in the Fire Maidens series and while it is the second book it can be read as a stand-alone, however I would suggest you read the first book just to keep with continuity. I am loving this new series. The characters are wonderful and so well written. I can not get enough of them. In this book we have a lion shifter name Liam and a fire maiden named Gemma. Gemma is in the run from a stalker who has chased her from Boston to London and Liam is just the lion to protect her.
this was amazing and wonderful. so fast paced and interesting.. kept me on the edge of my seat curious to see what was gonna happen next. it was amazing and i loved it
A knight comes to her just like the stories told, a mate to wonder what his future beholds and soon a battle unfolds as they fight against the odds. Gemma is heading to a rally and she is riding the train when she sees a man approaching towards her direction. She left Boston to escape a creepy stalker called Petro and she made a move to London where her father currently lives. Suddenly, a man boards the train standing at the exit and she immediately thought of him as Lancelot. Then, the man notices her and he must have noticed her reaction as he look towards the stalker. The knight in shining armor holds the stare of the stalker who seems to be telling her that she belongs to him. Then, the stalker senses that he cannot get her and departs the train. Liam introduces himself to Gemma and he is surprised that they are departing at the same station. He wants to go to the rally with her but his boss needs him at his job. He gives his cell phone number in case she needs his help if the man appears again. He is unable to move as if he does not want to leave her and he tells her to call him if needed. His soul yearns to go to Gemma and then his lion tells her that she is his mate. He is born as a half-breed lion shifter and he is one of the Guardians designated in London. They are attending a meeting held by the Council They must get the Fire Maiden quickly before the Lombardis claim her. Gemma cannot stop thinking about Liam and her fantasies of him. Her father has been telling her his dreams about dragons, fairies, vampires, and werewolves and she thinks he is a delusional. As she heads back to her work, she accidentally meets Liam where he offers to walk with her. When he tells Gemma that her life is in danger, he wants to protect her and he mentions about shifters wanting her royal blood. Nonetheless, she does not believe him and he thinks he is crazy just like her father. However, danger follows her as the enemies want to capture her and claim her as a mate. Liam wants to protect his mate and he needs to take her to a safe place where no one would find them. He has not been telling her the whole truth of the reason why he came to protect her and he knows how badly it would go as soon as she knows his predicament. Liam is a strong, honorable, kind, determined, sweet, protectiveand a dedicated warrior. Gemma is a sassy, independent, strong, hard working, and a fierce woman. The story is amazing and I like how the plot is so interesting to read especially the danger of being a Fire Maiden in a city along with shifters who want to get her power. The characters have a great chemistry, plot twist that I was not expecting, and the action scenes are incredible. The book is amazing and I love that Liam and Gemma have a HEA ending
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. What can I say? I LOVE reading Anna Lowe’s stories. Each couple has their own story to tell and their own way of coming into their HEA. This story is no different. Like all of her destination stories, when Anna Lowe describes a sight, taste, smell, or sound, you can practically experience it as if you were right there! There are all kinds of scheming, wheeling, and dealing in this story an no one is as they seem. I think that is what made story move so quickly once you get past the initial introductions. Gemma is a fierce social justice warrior on the run from a stalker that she thinks is crazy. Liam is a lion shifter of mixed blood who knows the instant he meets Gemma that she is something special. To keep her safe, he must take her to the one place he has spent a great deal of time avoiding. There’s so much I could tell you but I don’t want to give too much away because a lot happens in this story and there are a few surprises that you don’t see coming—even if you’re a long-time fan of Lowe’s shifter stories!
This is the second book in the excellent Fire Maidens (Body Guards and Billionaires) series. Anna Lowe has done it again, with an excellent instalment.. Gemma has recently moved to London to escape a stalker in her home town and now works in a book shop and lives on a canal boat. On the tube on her way to a rally, Gemma feels that someone is watching her. Also on the tube is Liam, a lion shifter, he is instantly attracted to Gemma and knows that she is in danger. He helps her escape the threat but loses her. Later at work, where he works for the Lombardi, London Guardians he is shown a photo of Gemma and told she is a Fire Maiden and told that he needs to protect her. Liam is a hero and whilst you expect Gemma to be a weak girl who needs protection, she is nothing like that, she takes no nonsense.
I really enjoyed this book. What I love about Anna’s books is they are all stand alone as have no cliffhangers, but in my opinion should be read as a series. I’ve loved both books so far and I think Anna has another hit series.
Gemma Archer is determined to change the world one rally at a time. Unfortunately, there is a creepy stalker after her who she can’t seem to get away from. When Liam Bennett steps in to save her she realizes there is more to the world than she thought. While fighting enemy dragons, dealing with past deceptions, and finding out she is a Fire Maiden, Gemma falls in love with Liam. But will it last?
I really loved Gemma. She was smart, strong, and wasn’t afraid to wield a sword. She was everything I love seeing in a heroine. Liam was strong, caring, and protective. I love these two together and was so glad Liam got his HEA. Also, I really love the side characters in this book. Sergio, Garrett and her father were great characters and I really want to see more of them in the future.

Another fantastic read. This is Liam's story with his Fire Maiden Gemma. Liam comes into her life just as she fears she's being stalked. She was. Liam also has to deal with the Guardians and their agenda for himself and Gemma. Life works out very differently for them both as they deal with the threats and accepting of their own personal life journey. I also enjoyed Sergio, the wolf and Liam's close friend. His story will also be great, I hope. He too, deserves his own Maiden. We see the evil from Paris still hounding those in London, but a few surprises are in store thanks to the good guys!! You need to read to discover just what! I loved Gareth, quite the crafty Raven it appears and one wise with knowledge to calm the soul of a lion... I was gifted a copy of this book and happily review as always. A wonderful read and look forward to more fun and exciting adventures.
Gemma was through running, she'd be doing it a long time.....Could it really be true what her father has been ranting about all the time, dragons, things that go bump in the night? Only now she's got another lunatic claiming that there are people that turn into lions and have been protecting London forever!!! But this one I can swallow because man is he hot, so what if he wants to protect me and follow me around.
Liam knew from the moment he set eyes on Gemma that she was his mate and now the Guardians are telling him he has to mate her because she is the Fire Maiden they've been looking for? No way, no how is he going to make his mate do the things they are claiming they will do with her! Yes he will protect her from those dragons that would wisk her away, but he will protect her from them too.
The Guardians of London assign the job of taking care of and keeping London safe to Liam. He is part lion and part dragon and wants to prove himself to the Guardians. Gemma is on the run from a staker and winds up in London. Liam will do everything and anything to keep Gemma safe; especially when he feels that she is his mate. He has one place in mind that they could go. He thinks this place will be safe but no everything goes according to his plan.
This story had twist and turns that will surprise you; making you anxious to see what the next page will bring. These are great characters and you want them to find their HEA. I absolutely love this series and can't wait for the next one.
I loved that strong, loyal, Liam got his own story, and found his own truths, and mate. Gemma, on the other hand, was too busy chasing her worldly political causes and just humoring her father and Liam. She wasn't nasty but she wasn't that endearing either. The only reason you care is you hope she wakes up soon before it's too late, and London falls. I don't understand why Gemma never heard her own dragon since both her parents were descended from dragons? Why did it take Liam's bite to bring out her dragon? I would think her dragon would've been even stronger than Liam's. I wasn't real clear on her Fire Maiden treasure either. How did the bracelets help her? Okay story I guess, but I liked Book 1 better. Hopefully, Book 3 will be better.
I loved this story. Gemma is a star. Unlike her predecessor Natalie in Paris, Gemma is a go getter, and self assured. Although she thinks Liam is as crazy as her father, she is still kind and caring, also there is that chemistry that Liam stirs in her. This one is a winner and I thought the Guardians were bad in Paris, they are even worse in London. It's no wonder the magic that hides the shifters is weakening. The narrator brings a certain life to the heroine. I also think if the book was read by both a male & female reader, reading the perspective from the hero & heroines point of view would bring a whole new dimension to this story.
This is Liam's and Gemma's adventures, I absolutely loved this one. The shy unsaid things were so adorable, the heroine Gemma is feisty from the very start. Then there's Sergio and Gareth, I'm not gonna say more about them except I totally loved those two. The storyline in this one whilst it still revolves around the fire maiden, the guardians are much different than those in the first book. I'm completely looking forward to reading the rest of this series, the side character in each book is the main character in the next. This is something I loved because you get a taste, then in the next book you really get to know them. This really is a fantastic series that should definitely be read.
I really loved this book mostly because Liam was so adorable. Gemma was a fun character, having not believed her father that shifters existed and then, when faced with the truth of this world, having to shift her views. But it was really cute how nice she was to Liam, even though she thought he was crazy. But Liam was just so sweet- a happy go lucky attitude that just spoke to me. It was so fun to watch them fall in love. And throw in a fair bit of action, as Gemma, the latest fire maiden, is chased through the streets of Paris, and this is a well rounded paranormal romance. Can't wait for the next one!
Audio book Book 2 in a fantastic series . Anna again wrote a mystery, action packed story. Even then it’s part of a series each one takes place in a different city . The story is face paced full of surprises . Heroine is Gemma. Hero is Liam Gemma meets Liam in London UK when she tries to run from a stalker. Little does she know what she’s getting into . Liam knows what Gemma is going through because he went through that when he was young from his family. Grab it and see how Gemma reacts when she finds out what Liam reveals
Kelsey Osborne Performance is great. She does all of Anna stories great .
Gemma's an American who thinks her English father's obsession with dragons is nuts. Liam barely remembers his parents and his relatives constantly belittle his dragon and lion heritage. Liam recognizes her as his fated mate but is torn by his insecurities and the Guardians machinations of a mating between the two. Gemma thinks Liam is as nutty as her father but begrudgingly allows him to be her bodyguard. When the danger following her is revealed she gets a crash course in her lineage and shifters. Liam's dual heritage means she has a powerful protector, a fitting match for her own royal and powerful heritage.
Gemma and Liam have a really great dynamic. I liked Liam from the beginning and felt so bad for him when the council essentially ordered him to seduce his mate for their own purposes. Frankly, I expected things to blow up more when he finally told Gemma. She took things in stride and I loved her sword fight moment. That was badass. I feel bad for all these fire maidens who keep having other people thinking they can dictate their lives. But I’m loving their quiet, understated “go f*** yourself and the horse your rode in on” confrontations with the councils. I wonder what Sergio’s mate will be like.
Two shape shifter friends, a lion and a wolf, walk into a meeting that will change their lives. On their walk the lion tells his friend about the wonderful girl he met on the underground. She was the most important thing on his mind. Obvious research went into the writing of this story, roads, shops, the colors of houses, adjacent landmarks, etc. I enjoyed the flow of the story and the growing love between the main characters. I would recommend this book for all adults. This is the second book in the series but it can be read as a stand alone story with a HEA ending.
4/5****. Fire Maidens: London is the second book in the Billionaires and Bodyguard PNR series. The story features Liam Bennet, a guardian and halfbreed lion shifter, and Gemma Archer, a young woman who supports humanitarian causes in London.
Gemma believes that someone is stalking her and Liam is determined to be her bodyguard. A dangerous world of hidden shifters is revealed to her as well as the fact that she has an important role to play. The only one she trusts to keep her safe is her new friend and bodyguard Liam.
I really enjoyed this couple’s slow burn journey getting to their HEA.
Gemma flees to London when she’s stalked. Liam meets her by chance on the London subway and becomes her knight in shining armour. Great heartwarming talk that has him ready to give his life to protect Gemma. This Ex-soldier is at a loss on what to tell his would be mate about his world and life. Laughed cried and thoroughly enjoyed this shifter tale. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Format: audiobook Another winner from this author with great characters and stunning locations. Liam’s shifter side is particularly interesting. I Loved Gemma’s character she’s feisty and I couldn’t wait for her and Liam’s showdown with the scheming guardians of London. This narrator does a pretty good job with the British accent, as a Brit myself it didn’t have me cringing and so didn’t distract from the story.
I have enjoyed reading these series of books. Reading these books is so scenic and switching between romance and danger gives the reader an emergence into a chance for an intense view of a whole new perspective on love and how it relates to the heart. Although I have only traveled to Spain and Hawaii, the travel details and scenery places a person right in the mist of all that the author describes. Oh the romance and everything in between.
I really enjoyed this book! The main characters were really easy to like, and it was fun to see her become aware of the supernatural world. This story had intrigue, danger, mysteries, friends, family, love and romance! The romance was super sweet and I loved the HEA!
