Before the now-infamous count Dracula ever tasted his first drop of blood, Sorin Ambrogio owned the night. Humanity fearfully called him the devil. Sorin wants one thing more than any other-to kill Dracula with his bare hands. But the coward refuses to leave the protection of his castle in Europe.

After taking over Dracula's operations in New York City, Sorin has more than enough problems to deal with in the city. As the various supernatural groups scramble for power witches want Sorin and his shaman ally, Nosh dead. Sorin soon learns that his so-called friends have more secrets than they ever let on, and that those secrets threaten to undercut his own efforts to maintain control of the city.

But Sorin is a schemer like the world hasn't seen in hundreds of years. And he has his own secret plans to drive Dracula from his castle and put the city on notice that the Devil of New York is king. Period.

Why waste time building a new army of vampires when you can simply use a necromancer to raise an undead army? But the
Gods decide to intervene, and Sorin realizes that everything he thought he knew is only the barest drop of truth in a raging ocean of lies.

Because the world cannot handle the truth, and there was a very important reason that Sorin was supposed to die. Every breath he takes, every drop of blood he consumes threatens to destabilize millennia of myths and legends.

The world will never be the same. Not for Sorin, and not for humanity itself.

When the Devil of New York cries, gods shall die.

I skipped a bunch, just wanted to get through the plot twists of this one. Left, right, Left again!~ All over the place.

And Soren finally got himself some at the end (which is not explicitly written). That man has more control than anyone!

It was fine. I could have done without the pseudo-sex scenes and love triangle. HATE love triangles.

But oh well. This is a diff kind of book than I usually read, so I have to keep my expectations adjusted. Everything and Adam and Eve are in here:
Dracula
Devil
Adam and Eve
Frankenstein
Mr. Hyde
Van Helsing
Werewolves
witches
warlocks
shamans
skin walkers
undead
and of course vamps
gods! the whole Greek pantheon!
I probably missed someone but I think this is already a pretty long list of various mythologies pieced together.
Oh yeah, Renfield and Mina Harker too
Gracious!

I liked book one and approached the sequel as a guilty, pulpy pleasure. Unfortunately, the plot is all over the place. That said, if you wanted Sorin to get laid, your dreams do come true.

I’ve been a fan of this author almost since the beginning. I have to admit to a little skepticism when he started a new vampire series; I’m a little over vampires. I should have trusted the author however. He’s turned the vampire legend on its head, and he’s made his own legend. I love Sorin and his sidekicks, and I admit I liked him better in this book than the first one. This book deepens Sorin’s past, and it brings up more questions…just like this author always tends to do! LOL! Fair warning: there is more heat in this one if that isn’t your thing, but you should still try it. I’m looking forward to the next, and I hope it continues this interesting pace. Highly recommend! I was provided a copy, but I bought it anyway.

This might be the end of the road with my with this series. I found myself skipping around a lot to get to the plot of the book. The first book was better than this one.

Once again, my review most likely will not be received well. However, I've always said I will only write honest reviews, so here is where I keep my word.

I believe most writers have a niche, a strong-suit where their writing is at its best. They may be able to move outside it by a small amount, but for the most part, there is one type of storyline where their hearts lie. Staying within that niche seems to serve them best. Some authors can do well in multiple genres if they contain some of the same elements. For instance, a writer can be excellent at Urban Fantasy using a small amount of sex and/or romance, then hop over to Paranormal Romance and still do well. That usually comes from the ability to write romantic scenes well enough to go from mild to heavy with no issues.

There are, however, certain types of storylines where romance has almost no place, particularly in the UF genre. These storylines concentrate on the action, intrigue, and imaginative characters to capture a reader's attention. Inventing creatures, such as monsters, gods, or mythological beings who comprise a world of exciting supernatural adventures, is where they excel. These have a definite place in the UF genre and can be so well-loved they become classics in their own time. An author capable of creating this type of series has most likely found his strong-suit and would do best to stay with it.
Unfortunately, this author didn’t do that. I don't know whether it was boredom with his famous Templeverse world, or whether it was just a desire to spread his wings that enticed Shayne to take this chance, but I do understand the drive to at least try. But, whatever the reason, it was a brave experiment that, sadly, failed. At least in this reader’s opinion.

If a writer is uncomfortable writing a sex scene, if they don't have a feel for the necessary elements, then they should leave it to those who do. A botched sex scene can ruin the entire flavor of a book. And when the book becomes nothing but gratuitous sex (whether it be the act or just in the dialogue), it then loses any semblance of a storyline. You suddenly find yourself with what has become an unfortunate attempt that went far afield of their comfort zone. The best you can do is hope that they realize their mistake and goes back to their true calling.

One of my rules when writing my review is I will not give away any storyline details. However, I will say this; if you read book one, then very few of your questions will find a satisfactory answer in book two. And if you were hoping that book two would bring some real action, you may need to wait for book three.

I will be thrilled to buy the next Nate Temple book the moment it hits the shelves. I am now, and always will be, a big fan of Shayne Silvers and his Nate Temple Universe in all its variations. That I cannot recommend this series does not change that. Do I feel bad? Yes. I feel horrible about this. But I have known Shayne Silvers as an author for a long time now. The one thing that makes him the consummate author is, he prefers the truth. He knows catering to his feelings won’t help him be a better writer.

In conclusion, I'd like to say that Shayne Silvers is an excellent writer who can create some of the most exciting UF stories, and he should be willing to take that step outside his usual style. But he needs to take more time to learn how to write the new types of stories he has kicking around in his head. The time will come when Shayne Silvers will be an unparalleled PNR author, I am sure. Unfortunately, that time isn't now. I'm sorry, Shayne.

An outstanding read, twisting multiple mythologies anew. Sorin has staked his claim in NY, and now sets up multiple crazy plans to further his wants, a family, a home, and Dracula's head. But, new enemies interject, violently, and Sorin finds himself still catching up to the 21st century and all its components. Suffused with action, a bit of heat, revelations, and often hilarious quips &/or consequences, Devil's Cry was a hell of a ride, captivating from beginning to end.

The master of red herrings and misdirection did it again.
Well, we thought we learned one thing in the previous book, Devil’s Dream. But now, in Devil’s Cry, it isn’t/is, may or may not be true. And then *that* happened at the end, tossing it all in the air. Oh, we get answers to prior questions in DC, but I’m pretty sure I’m more confusticated than I was before. Shayne Silvers will do that to you. And does. With relish.
And Sorin’s still sexy as hell. First, Sorin is *very* romantic, no question. His thought process in thinking about his women - his lovers - makes that clear. There is a scene that’s hot as hell, but still poetic, somehow. I was raised on Hammer and other horror films, so the fact that vampirism is as much about sex as blood is not a new concept for me at all. And the way Silvers wrote the scene is a bit reminiscent, the modern banter notwithstanding. But there is much more to the writing, to how Sorin perceives and feels about his sexual encounters that pushes the right buttons, too.
As always, snarky humor is peppered throughout. A few references were misfires for me, but it’s endless fun watching Sorin navigate the hazards that are women with far more trepidation than he confronts an angry giant. Read on, friend, read on.

There’s no place like home

The worlds first vampire, Sorin Ambrosio,, is awake and ready to take on his snot nosed, upstart of a creation, Dracula. After Dracula decimated his own followers leaving nearly every vampire in New York City dead, Sorin must regroup and craft a plan to bring his sworn enemy to his knees. What he learns very quickly is that the definition of devil and angel are a lot closer than they may first seem. Sometimes you’ve got to turn an angel into a little bit of a devil in order to win the battle. Sorin is going to attempt to do just that, all while juggling a vicious ex he may or may not be able to trust, a puppy with hurt feelings, lots of new kids on the block, and a squatter of epic proportions in his house who needs evicting—oh and throw in a vindictive Olympian just for fun! The worlds first vampire may have bitten off more than he can chew this time, but with a little help from his friends, all angels and devils alike, he just might get to go home for the holidays!

The Devil is Back!

Sooo many things to love about this book. I mean. Shayne Silvers has found a way to bring Jekyll and Hyde into it. So, we have Olympian forces, Victoria Helsing, Dracula, Doctor F.Stein and Jekyll and Hyde! Some of the most memorable characters from literary history given new life! (He is the Doctor Frankenstein of story writing).
What can I say about Devil's Cry? - I didn't see that coming! Shayne has outdone himself as I found myself immersed in the story to the point I could feel the dirt beneath my fingernails as I read a particular scene in Central Park. As with most vampire stories, things get a little heated. Things get sexy. And there is blood. And magic. I still can't get over how much I am enjoying a Vampire story!
Sorin Ambrogio is no ordinary vampire.
He is the Devil, and he has enraptured me.

Vampire lore with an exhilarating twist. Move over Dracula, there's a sexy new vampire in charge and his name is Sorin.

Devil's Cry grabs your attention (or should I say pierces your soul) and doesn't let go. It's exhilarating and takes vampire lore and breathes new life into it. Sorin has quickly became one of my favorite characters. He's snarky yet vulnerable, has old-world charm, yet is sexy as all get out; he's arrogant and brutal, yet kind and loyal. Devil's Cry takes you on a fast-paced, gut-wrenching and brutal path, that has many twists as Sorin fights to reclaim his rightful title and reign as First Vampire. This is one wild ride you don't want to miss and one you won't want to get off of.

Devils Cry is an absolute one click! You not only have Sorin who is the very first vampire, but you also have werewolves, witches, Greek Gods and so much more set in New York City. I’m pretty sure Central Park will never be the same! This one had a naughty twist that I absolutely loved! Shayne always delivers with a fantastic storyline and characters that you can’t help but fall in love with, he takes you on an adventure and just when you think you know what will happen next he surprises you with an unexpected tweak! I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc, but I loved it so much I purchased my own copy!

I was a big fan of the first Shade of Devil book, so when I received the Advance Copy of Devil's Cry, I was thrilled. The plot twists were absolutely incredible, I really enjoy Sorin's story, and some of the side characters (Dr Stein, anyone?) leave me nearly doubled over in laughter every time they popup.

Shayne doesn't write this story just for laughs, though. There are plenty of those, but the action, the emotion, is almost palpable. Even after just two books, I feel connected to, invested in the lives, trials and tribulations of these characters. And the revelation toward the end of the book had my jaw hitting the floor. Once again, Silvers has done it, and fashioned a detailed, incredible world out of nothing.

Ever wondered why Sorin ? Why Ambrogio ?
There is power in a name, some more so...

Sorin has some juggling to do between the love of his heart - and the love of his soul - which is currently residing in hell of course. Between this and finding ways to bring down Dracula and decipher the book of his life's secrets, courtesy of his favourite Shaman - there is some unfinished business regarding the identity of Nosh. All will be revealed - not as you expect!

I really enjoyed Sorin and his vamps wooden -spoon dodging abilities, very impressive, although my money is on Mrs Stein..

I've read an awful lot of Vamp books and this one gets thumbs up and 5 stars for its fine threading of intrigue, humour and sexiness.

Wow!

Shayne Silver is a master wordsmith!!

This fresh new take on the classic Dracula story is fast becoming my favourite vampire story ever. Sorin is one of the best characters in any book ive ever read.

The story picks up where book 1 Devil's Dream left off, and as usual the rollercoaster of emotions starts from page 1! After waking from a 500 year slumber, Sorin Ambrogio is about to reclaim his legend from Dracula and make sure nobody will forget the first vampire ever again! I personally hope this series goes well past the 3 book mark.

Very well done yet again.

I loved this book! There was so much happening, it really grabs your attention and then you're hooked! I love the characters, especially Dr. Stein and her wooden spoon! Sorin is the best. He's smart, protective, bold, crafty, a little confused about his bond to his 'devils', and has impressive plans involving Central Park. My favorite characters beside the above mentioned, are Adam, Eve and Hyde. This action-packed book is full of danger, suspense, vampires, werewolves, witches, Nephilim, mystery, magic, war, laugh-out-loud humor and more, This series is addicting!

This book really went off at a full sprint and it's turned some of the greatest monster legends on their heads!

It picks up almost after the end of the first book and the jokes are again side splitting funny and helped break up the tension of the more serious action scenes.

If there is anything I could say to sum up this book is "Daddy Issues"!

I love how Sorin lands himself in some hot water, only to discover he's now going to have double trouble in the love department, but with a big bonus at the end!

Can't wait for book 3 next month to come out!

Book two in the series picks up where book one left off. Sorin has let his presence be known Dracula. let the repercussions begin. With enemies knocking at the door, Sorin begins to find out who he can trust, and who has been playing him since he woke up. This is a fantastic continuation of this new series from Shayne Silvers. I hope this is a sign of things to come, and that the series will run for quite some time now.

I thought everything had been said about vampires. I was wrong. The second book in the series (get the first one!) and the ride continues. Shayne silvers delivers his usual completely unpredictable book with twists and turns galore. This is one of the few authors that I can't anticipate. This is a must read.

This is another wild ride through the original vampire’s life and is a masterpiece of imagination. It combines witches, vampires, werewolves, Greek gods and every combination of plot and twist you can’t even begin to describe. There is so much going on in his story, it was so exciting, and so totally engaging I couldn’t put it down. I adore this author!

The second installment of the Sorin Ambrosio series is even better than the first. Sorin continues to build his power and his army to fight Dracula and anyone that stands in the way of that. The introduction of new characters is done quite well. And some questions from the first book were answered and then unanswered and then answered again......I think. Typical Shayne Silvers plot lines mess with your head, but in a good way.

I am loving this story line. Sorin is a truly likeable character, his actions not only make sense, they come from a genuinely good place, for someone who thinks himself a devil, he acts in the very opposite manner. Looking forward to the next instalment.
