This cookbook will help you to avoid the “there’s-nothing-to-eat” problem. From soups and sides to desserts, you will find a huge inspiration to cook at home and stick to your diet. To make this collection simple to use, I have selected the dishes according to food group, so you can easily search for a certain dish.
For someone who is starting to learn about Keto, this is a good start. The intro is very informative and has a lot of great info to get started. Wade shares her personal experience with the Keto lifestyle and she does a great job in explaining the benefits and how to make it work. It has a list of recommended Keto foods, as well as a list of foods to stay away from. That is always helpful.
The recipes all sound delicious and I like the variety. The Breakfast Keto Muffins and the Double Cheese Baked Stuffed Peppers are just two of my favorite recipes I discovered in this cookbook and I'm excited to try them out. And the desserts!! Since sugar is a big no no, so I was pleased to see that there are a bunch of Keto approved desserts to try out.
The only thing that I found disappointing was that there are no pictures. The images of the plates made are one of the things I really look forward to in a cookbook, and unfortunately there weren't any. Especially as it is marketed as a book for Keto Beginners, I really think the pictures would have been helpful. Besides the lack of images, it is a good cookbook!
Overall, the recipes and layout and information on Keto are decent. I love that there was an included meal plan - but some things on the meal plan were not well explained. Like one of the items was "shake" - is that a recipe in the book or a premade thing somewhere? Also, the recipes listed in the meal plan could have had a link to the actual recipe in the book as a helpful thing (kindle version). Overall the recipes were pretty lengthy on ingredients and some may be too complex for a beginner cook. Also there are no photos of the meals included which is odd. And there is no index to search by ingredient so it can be cumbersome to some. I would say this is an ok cookbook but not great for someone starting out in cooking or on Keto.
