It's such a joy to watch Pippa DaCosta grow and build her skills as an author. Every new series she conceives of is more inventive and vivid than the last. Daybreaker is no exception! There are definitely big things ahead for this series.

This urban fantasy is a wild ride of twists and turns and characters that are unreliable in the perfect way. I loved the setting of the Night Station; it somehow felt both like home and like a dangerous minefield, all at once. Pippa outdid herself with the worldbuilding this time.

Lynher is a human who willingly resides in a nest of vipers: vampires, shifters, and a more colorful variety of monsters. She is the epitome of the strong female character, done right - it's her inner strength and power of mind, rather than an inherent superpower, that makes her powerful. This book is relatively light on her romance, but I believe the seeds have been sown for a slow-burn relationship. We'll see.

If you love urban fantasy with a complex heroine and an incredibly creative world, give Twilight Seeker a try.

✅ Gorgeous cover
✅ Original ideas
🆗 Main character
🆗 Sanctuary (I still don't understand the double life part)
🆗 Relationships

I was so excited when I heard that Pippa DaCosta was writing a new series because I really enjoyed Shoot the Messenger. The summary was promising and the cover is also gorgeous.

The idea behind this book was appealing to me: a sanctuary for demons, vampires, and every other supernatural creature (whether they are friendly or not-so-friendly ones) that is run by an ordinary human. Also, the part where the sanctuary has kind of a double life: a side where it's the night that rules and a side that you can access if you go down a secret staircase where it's day and apparently where humans are treated well. Honestly, the double side part was unclear... Is it like a small dimension where humans are safe or are it only a secret section of the sanctuary? Anyways...

The big problem for me was the main character. I felt nothing towards Lynher except maybe frustration. She is ignorant and apparently happy to stay this way. She lives in a world where humans are treated as if they are worthless and still, I didn't find her very sympathetic or invested in finding out more about what's happening around her... The same can be said for the other characters, they were just bland and I did not really care for any of them.

There is also a weird relationship between Lynher and (just) Jack. He saves her at every turn even though he is supposed to be the evil one and she does not push him for answers. She just rolls with it and tries to kill him once or twice. There is also the "thing" with Rafe... Is it love? lust? A potential love triangle? The romance was not the main topic of this book and it's okay with me, but I felt as though the relationships between the characters were presented to us, but nothing was deepened and nothing really evolved through the story.

Overall the story is good, but the characters, the relationships, and the world-building were all lacking depth and it made it difficult for me to really enjoy this book. I would still recommend it, it is a nice read and if you find the characters more appealing than I did then you will probably really like this book.

OUT NOW!

Stay in the light, avoid locked doors, and resist silver whispers.

On the border between the old world and the new, the Night Station welcomes you. Is it blood diamonds you seek, fair traveler? Or something more intimate, perhaps? Come, take my hand, walk among us. I’ll show you where the vampires laugh, their teeth sharp in the light. Best you guard your delicate throat, for there are worse monsters prowling these shadows.

Our fair hostess, you see her there? Miss Lynher Aris. A dream in satin and silk. Beware the beautiful, dear traveler. Didn’t you know? They say, by night, she entertains the dark ones, but by day, she leads the resistance—by day she goes by another name: Daybreaker.

Hush, let’s not speak of such things. This night is made for revelry. Stay awhile, before the dawn train’s whistle breaks the spell. Drink and gamble and partake in all the sins you wish, for there are no laws here at the edge of the worlds.

Wait. Heed this, dear traveler, do not linger among the shadows. Do not question those with magic in their eyes. Some foolish souls arrive at the Night Station demanding answers. Those travelers do not see the break of dawn. This glorious station, poised on the border between two worlds, caught between day and night, swallows those it deems unworthy. Myth and rumor, of course, but stay in the light, do not succumb to silver whispers, and turn away from locked doors.

There is a hunger in you, traveler. You feel its spell, do you not? The Night Station has you now. Welcome… to the end of the world.

It's no secret that I'm a Pippa DaCosta fangirl so of course I've been eagerly waiting for Twilight Seeker ever since she first announced it but I'm going to say it here and now that she has completely outdone herself with this one. The story had me hooked from the first page with its brilliant world building and fantastic characters. Nothing is quite what it seems when it comes to the Night Station, it's magical, dangerous and full of secrets. I think we've only started to scratch the surface and I can't wait for the next book so we can dig down a few more layers.

Lynher is a great character, she's a normal human in a world full of demons, vampires and fae who all consider her prey. It is her job to run the Night Station and keep the peace amongst her guests but she's at a physical disadvantage compared to everyone around her so she's walking a very fine line keeping everything balanced. It's all about keeping up appearances and making sure the guests see her as someone to be wary of rather than someone they can walk right over. She's not completely powerless though and again I think we have a lot more to learn about what she's truly capable of.

While juggling the needs of her guests Lynher is also working alongside the human resistance doing everything she can to rescue as many humans as possible from slavery to the vampires and other supernatural races. Throw in characters like Rafe, the incubus who has been attempting to seduce her for as long as she can remember, and Just Jack, a new arrival at the Night Station who is obviously more than he seems, and I have absolutely no idea where this series is going to take us next. We've already had so many twists so while I have a few suspicions about certain people I'm pretty sure Pippa will turn everything on its head all over again in the next book.

Series like this are the reason I love urban fantasy and I'm so happy we only have to wait until July for the second book, Night Scourge, although if Pippa could write a little faster and let me have it sometime next week I definitely would't complain LOL.

I found this buried in my Kindle library. I have no idea what prompted me to acquire it, but my best guess is the cover. I'll not deny that the cover is what caught my eye and made me take a shot at it. Also, I was in a mood and this seemed to fit.

And it's a good thing I was in the mood because this story is capital bleh bleak. Had I realized it was really a post-apocalypse masquerading as an urban fantasy I'd have never started. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your view, it has a gripping heroine and an interesting setting and a relentless pace and I couldn't put it down.

None of it survives scrutiny, mind you. By the end I have more questions than answers. And it only just avoids being a cliffhanger by having accomplished the main goal and its consequences. There are lots of loose threads is what I'm saying and it's clearly a setup for a much larger arc. One that I'll be giving a pass to, because see bleak above. Also, I actively dislike post-apocalypse stories so that, too.

I tried to get more specific than the above but kept dropping down rabbit holes so I think I'll leave it at that. Lynher is very engaging, capable but in way over her head. She's only too stupid to live once, at least in a blatant way, and she learned fast once the reasonable consequences manifest.

I'm only giving this the fourth star because I couldn't put it down and stayed up way too late to finish it. That's quite an accomplishment for a book I had to be in the right mood for and that ambushed me with a disliked subgenre.

A note about Chaste: There's lots going on and little respite. And few prospects for amorous adventures. There's enough playing around with the incubus, Rafe, that you could make a case for steamy if you liked. But it doesn't go far, or get specific enough, for me to mark it as not-chaste.

Twilight Seeker was brilliant! The couple of sleepless nights were totally worth it just to finish this book. And now I’m left bereft because who knows how long I’ll have to wait for Night Scourge!
This is the type of urban fantasy I breathe for. Fast paced, with a set of complex characters, multi-layered world and high stakes. Don’t trust anyone and don’t assume you’ve figured someone out, even after reading the last sentence! Even though I know better (as a long time reader of Ms. DaCosta’s books) I still fell for the trap of assumptions for the characters. Sure some things were correct but most were not and even those that were close to the truth had layers upon layers.
Setting foot into a new world always gets my heart pumping and my mind a buzz. What it will be like? Will I like it? Would I want to be part of it or would it be horrifying? Will there be a special character that stays with me years after the last book is out? I have partial answer to the first question. The second one’s should be obvious from my first sentence. And the jury is still out on the last two.
The Night Station is fascinating. It reminds me of Gertrude Hunt from Ilona Andrews’ Innkeeper Chronicles. But while there are some similarities the inn and the Night Station are two different beasts. At best the station is just mischievous, at worst… Well I don’t dare make predictions. The hostess, Miss Lynher Aris, is a lamb in the midst of a pack of hungry wolves. So she’s made an art out of the saying “Fake it ‘till you make it”. And boy, did that raise the stakes at every turn! But just because she’s physically weaker, doesn’t mean she’s not dangerous in her own right. And I adored that. It made me cheer for her all the way, while also secretly wondering “Is she the good guy? What if she’s not?”
Another fascinating part of this book is Ms. DaCosta’s take on vampires, demons, jinn and other “Dark Ones”. Again I drew some parallels with another of Ilona Andrews’ series. But that was only after learning more about the vampire queen. At first they seemed like most other vampires in fantasy – darkly sensuous and utterly heartless. The scene on the platform left me panting! And it’s not like something naughty was happening. Either Ms. DaCosta is that good or something’s wrong with me because this is not that kind of book! I really can’t wait to find out more. Not only about the vampires but about the demons (Rafe is sooo delicious), the elves but most of all about the nature of the Night Station itself. So when is the next book coming out?

I haven’t read a fantasy novel that kept my interest in a long time. This one has a bunch of supernatural beings that claim sanctuary in the Night Station. The human world has been ravaged by these monsters and humans are simply on the menu. Lynher Aris runs the Night shift and her twin brother Kensey runs the Day. While the job is to serve and give sanctuary to the monsters that tore apart their world, Lynher and Kensey fight to save as many humans as possible. Lynher has a friendly demon named Rafe who has more depth without a soul than he seemed to have with it. She also meets a dangerous vampire overseer, Jack, who definitely has many secrets. Neither male character is fully developed for my tastes but there is potential here.

A great start to a fun gothic fantasy series. I would say that there are some rules that feel undeveloped. Fantasy is tricky. An author needs to paint the world and make us believe in it. I still feel like I don’t understand some aspects completely. Lynher acts much younger than her 23 (very full) years. Sometimes it did feel like I was reading about a teenager. Clearly, there are quite a few mysteries going on so hoping some get resolved in the next installment.

This book takes place in a dystopian world where humans are prey and vampires now run most of the world. However, there is one place that is a little bit safer than most- the Night Station.

description

That is where we meet our h, Lynher.
She is the human in charge, and the host of the supernatural hotel catering to the worlds darkest and most dangerous creatures.

Vampires, incubi, demons, fae, and more wander the halls- and its up to Lynher to find a balance between not dying at their hands, finding more about her new mysterious patron, and keeping her deadly guests safe from each other.

I had a lot of fun reading this one, but I have so many questions!!

Finally! A Pippa DaCosta book that didn't have me wanting to pluck my brains out at it's absolute mess.

Although this is probably the second book from this author that I remotely like I am curious to see what the next book is about because this did a poor job of giving us the deets.

Lynher runs a safe haven for monsters. The house is sentient and protects her or maybe it doesn't and has it's own agenda, we don't know. When the Vampire Overseer comes to the haven excepting a high value cargo that's when things start to spiral out of control. You'd read that and think angst, subterfuge and plot but not really, this book left more questions than answers.

Nothing really happens and while Lynher acted like she was a badass she really wasn't, she was just a little girl playing grownup believing she had all the power because she was a hostess. That being said I might read the next book if I remember because I am curious to understand what's going on.

This post-apocalyptic, urban fantasy novel initially piqued my interest with some serious Clean Sweep vibes. And it was good but not Ilona Andrews good. You've got a heroine who acts as hostess at the the Night Station, a neutral territory for elves, vampires, demons, and worse to rest and enjoy themselves. By night she serves them. By day she works to undermine their rule.

But almost any urban fantasy novel will lose when directly compared to The Innkeeper Chronicles so I figured I was being unduly harsh in my evaluation. Cool heroine. Cool clothing. Cool premise. This was good. Until about halfway. Then our intrepid heroine leaves the Night Station and it became so. very. boring.

It shouldn't be boring. She's in plenty of danger. There is romantic tension and scary monsters. But I kept having to force myself to keep reading. I lost the point of the story and when presented with a dramatic, cliffhanger ending, realized I didn't care enough to read the sequel.

Pity. This had potential.

Another fantastic Pippa read! With all the mystery, backstabbing, lust filled and exquisite characters that only Pippa could create.

Once again, I'm torn between "teams." Should I be on Rafe's or Jack's? Why? Why do you do this to me? AAARG! I must read more to choose my side. Oh wait! I forgot how Pippa always tears my heart to pieces. You wouldn't do that to me HERE, would you? Come on, man! Please, please don't rip my heart up this time!

3.5.

Pippa is an awesome writer. Whenever I've read her series' that's always been a feeling I get, but what I do find I sometimes have problems with are some of her characters, and that was my issue here.

The idea behind the book was interesting, with the human run sanctuary for different supernatural species, although the concept is quite similar to another book I've read. But, while I appreciated on a structural level, the twisty turny nature of the plot, I wasn't really invested in it, and I think that's because I didn't really care about any of the characters.

Lynher was a bit willfully dense for my liking. There is clearly far more going on than her narrownworld view, but she doesn't seem interested in finding any of this out and seems happy to stay ignorant. Despite how awful it is for humans, I didn't find her a very sympathetic character. I thought a more intelligent person might investigate this further, but she didn't.

Her relationship with Jack was one that I would have liked to be more nuanced and the fact that is saved her at every turn, multiple times, I felt should have made her demand answers from him. I also don't know what's going on with Rafe. This has the potential to be a sort of love triangle, but I would say this book is very romance light.

So, basically, I feel very torn on how to rate this. Had I connected and cared about the characters it would have been a 4 star read, so this very well may have been a personal issue for me. I would still recommend people give this a try.

I've had really high hopes for this but the plot was all over the place and nothing was explained. The station was magical because the author said so but I had no idea why. Lyhner was annoying and overpowered because of the "station's magic", Jack was boring, Rafe was kind of likeable but also very fake. I guess, I liked Ettiene and Kensey but honestly, they weren't on scene much. I had no idea why vampires are ruling the world if demons and elves are, oh so powerfull. Demons have souls for some reason, Lilith is randomly calling Rafe 'habibi' and there are trains and cars but apparently not phones and guns.

Amazingly, astoundingly and astonishingly awesome.

Normally I jump straight to writing a review after finishing a book, but this time I had to wait and allow my heart, soul, and mind a chance to recover. I'm not sure I know a damn sight more than I did when I started the story, but I don't really care because I am totally hooked on this mysterious, somewhat dystopian, full of intrigue and evil plots, epic fantasy tale.

I made the mistake of starting it just before bed time. Lord alone knows what time it was when I finally allowed myself to close my kindle and attempt some sleep but it was definitely gone dark o'clock. Gripping doesn't come close to describing how much this story held my attention. The story has buried itself into the depths of my being, the characters have carved a space in my heart and I know this story will break me into the tiniest specks of dust before it's done.

Step aside Kesh, there's a new heroine in town and her name is Lynher. Mistress of the many pocketed dress, Queen of the Night Station and pawn of the Dark Ones I totally fell in love with her. Then there is Just Jack, I so want to trust him but he's a vampire overseer so, *sigh*, what's a girl to do?

Oh the twists, the turns, the lies, the secrets, the deals and deceptions. Add into the mix a scorchingly sexy demon too and the possibilities run endless. I do believe I may have died and gone to heaven. Is it odd that I want to climb inside this world Pippa DaCosta has created and meet its inhabitants? Is it normal to want to reside in a world where humanities very existence is under threat, where humans are valued only as a food source? Is it odd to want to play with a demon by the name of Rafe, who's wicked tongue and sparkling eyes suggest opportunities for sinful delight? Should I really be half in love with a vampire with too many secrets? If it is I don't care, I just need more, more and so much more of this amazing new series.

Lynher runs a “safe haven” for the monsters while secretly saving humans whenever she can. The monster run the world but somehow the supernatural force, sentences, behind her hotel like establishment protects those it deems worthy.

The premise was great, I loved the idea and everything in the synopsis screams this book would be for me and here is “the but”… But the execution drove me nuts. It was all over the place and never really gave us any kind of definitive answers to anything at all. Lynher seemed to be EXTREMELY sporadic in her thoughts, and we got an inside seat to the entire roller-coaster of them all.

I gave this book 3 stars. It was more like between its was okay and I kind of liked it. I liked the overall premise and found myself begging for some details that would connect me to the plot but in the end it never came.

I received this copy of Twilight Seeker from Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Holy bananas........ that is all I have to say. This is a PHENOMENAL start to a new series, I CANNOT wait to see where it goes from here!!! This really runs the gamut on your emotions, and knowing the author, we are really in for it in with the next book. I love the sheer atmosphere and world building, its dark and angsty, and piques your interest from the first page. I have actually read this twice in less than a week, I devoured it the first time, then read two different books, and wanted to read it again and it was even better the second time! I cant wait to see where Pippa goes from here!

A brand new series and what a start... My head is still spinning! :D

Worldbuilding was great. Every scene and environment was well described and clear. We know a lot about what happened in the past, how the monsters have the upper hand and how humans are either dead, in hiding or tortured for blood on twisted farms by the vampires. The Night Station is quite the riddle, it's alive and very much aware, helping to keep the staff and the guests safe from the outside world... and each other.

Character development was very, very good. Who is a friend, who is an enemy... are you sure? Are you really sure? Twists upon twists, secrets, revelations, deceit... yep, it's all there in true Pippa DaCosta style. Seriously, I'm not lying, you just never know who the bad guy is and if you think you've figured it out, read some more and guess again. The cast feels alive and very real, with each their own emotions, hopes and fears. Superbly written.

Pacing and flow were good. It felt like an intricate dance, moving slowly but surely all over the place. A great balance between action and conversations.

The book itself was well written with no (noticeable) errors and there is no sex described (if that is important to you).

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and I really do need the second book asap. Not knowing who and what... it's driving me insane!

It's been a while since I read a good vampire book, and this one hit the spot! It initially reminded me a bit of the Innkeeper Chronicles, but darker and more dangerous.
The MC Lynher Aris, a vulnerable human, is the hostess of the Night Station, where all of the Dark Ones are welcome to stay and be entertained. Vampires, demons, elves and the thing in room 3B, all attend the station at night, and Lynher must play her part as hostess, while during the day she works with the resistance to rescue innocent children from the monsters. The vampires in this are definitely the bad guys, stealing children for their blood farms.
But the station is full of secrets, and as we delve further into this world it becomes ever more dangerous and mysterious.
At times I was a little confused with the world-building and the realms of Night and Day, but I adore the colourful characters and I can't wait to find out what comes next for Lynher and the Night Station.

In the interest of full disclosure, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE everything Pippa DaCosta and was hanging out for this one, being the first book in a yummy new series.

If you've read any of Pippa's other books, you'll know you're in for something special; a really well written storyline, amazing world building, punchy and pacey, full of plot twists and characters you love to hate (and sometimes hate to love😈), sassy heroines, layers upon layers upon layers of intrigue, and of course some hot but conflicted male leads. Plus there's always a fine line between good and evil, and all that's grey in between. No surprises then that Twilight Seeker IS NO EXCEPTION and I totally INHALED it today!😊

We're introduced to some fabulous new characters, including our heroine Lynher Aris, the (human) mistress and hostess of the Night Station, a quasi 'safe house' for all things otherworldly (the Dark Ones), including vampires, demons, incubi, shape shifters, fae and worse, Rafe the incubus demon who has a fancy for our heroine, and of course the mysterious Jack, a newcomer to the Night Station's hospitality. But just how safe is the magical Night Station, where things are never really what they seem....

I can not wait to get my hands on book two Night Scourge!

A highly recommended 5 ✨✨✨✨✨

Twilight seeker by Pippa DaCosta⁣
⭐⭐⭐⭐/5⁣

Wow, I was completely captivated the whole way through this book!⁣

Vampires - check⁣
Demons - check⁣
Kick ass heroine- check⁣
A train station, that is its own entity and sanctuary for the supernatural along with its human hostess - check⁣

I requested this copy from Netgalley because I loved the sound of it!⁣

Considering I've read ALOT of vampire fiction - this unique setting was a pleasant surprise.⁣

Lynher Aris is the hostess of a train station that quite literally has a mind of its own. Whilst she plays hostess with the mostest for vampires, fae and demons alike, she battles for survival between night and day. Because what the Dark Ones don't realise is that Lynher is part of the resistance to undermine them when Dawn breaks. But, then, everything changes when the mysterious Ghost, the overseer of the Vampire Guard arrives unannounced at the station. ⁣

This was such a fun, albeit quick read. ⁣

Although this is one of the more original urban fantasy stories I've read in a while - the plot was easy to predict at times but that made it no less enjoyable.⁣

I couldn't put this book down once I had started it. The mystery of the station, the grey characters that I found myself leaning towards, the horrors of the blood farms and the *almost* potential romance kept me turning the pages until I was finished. ⁣

I just have two questions:⁣

When is the next book out?⁣

And what the heck is in 3b?!⁣

A fast paced, fun filled read, reminiscent of early Anita Blake books. This has a strong, independent heroine, vampires and demons, humour, action, I mean it’s everything you want in urban fantasy. I enjoyed this so much I’m off to search for the next in the series. Fabulous fantasy action.

I have really enjoyed other books by this author, so much so that I was really disappointed to skip the last series. Reverse harem is not my jam. But this... Gothic urban fantasy... I am totally there for it.

And it didn’t disappoint.

Lynher is the hostess of the Night Station. It is a place in the in-between. A sanctuary for the world's various monsters. Lynher is human, normally the lowest kind of prey on the food chain, but the station has marked her. It protects her. And it allows her to work in the daylight with her twin brother, rescuing other humans who are not so lucky. Humans who would be food or playthings for the vampires.

As the story begins, she discovers that a formidable overseer of the vampire race, known only as the Ghost is coming to be a guest at the station. Only, he is not who he appears to be. I don’t want to spoil too much, but the unraveling of who the Ghost is and what he is to Lynher is kind of the crux of the whole story.

The world building is fascinating. And I have so many unanswered questions still, even now that the book is over. I’m fascinated by Jack, a character I will give you no details about except to say that he is enigmatic and sexy and... kind of sad I think. Part of me wants to push him away from Lynher, but the romance reader in me burns with the knowledge he is the end game.

Then there is Rafe— Her incubi friend who has some serious problems to deal with as the book progresses. I want to know his secrets too. I want to save him. I want to save Lynher. Dammit, I want to save Jack too.

There isn’t a romance here, necessarily, but I feel confident there will be. And it’s going to be awesome when it comes to pass. I am definitely excited for book two.

As a fan of Pippa DaCosta's work I was incredibly excited for this new series and it did not disappoint! Lynher is the hostess of the Night Station, raised by the previous host it is all she has ever known. She is aware of the darkness and how to manipulate it to her advantage but is wilfully ignorant of the world outside of it. True to the author's style the book is layered with many secrets and the characters and story is never what it seems. There's Jack, the enigmatic vampire, who is not what he portrays. Is he good, bad or something in between? What's in it for him and at what cost? Then there's the charming incubus, Rafe. Delicious and alluring, the closest thing to a friend Lynher has but is it true friendship or is he playing with her? So many twists and turns and you have to wonder what is the end game at the Night Station?

Then there's Kensey, Lynher's brother. The two have a beautiful relationship but Kensey is the idealist of the two. He lives in Day with the sunlight, playing the hero. Lynher's love for him really shines through in the story and Kensey is her biggest weakness. Yet I have to wonder if Kensey loves her the same way. There are a few scenes that make me question if he would be as self sacrificing as Lynher believes him to be if the tides were turned. With betrayal lurking around every corner this isn't too far fetched.

All in all an excellent read. Pippa always delivers on an enticing story that reels you in and leaves you wanting more. Full of complex characters, intrigue and darkness the Night Station is definitely worth a visit.

"Twilight Seeker" had a strong start that left me intrigued by this unique urban fantasy filled with demons, vampires, demons, and more. Sadly it lost its momentum when our 'daring' hostess Lynher is forced to leave the station, a safe haven for supernatural beings, with Ghost before their 'wild' journey begins. Why the fuck am I saying?! There wasn't anything wild about their journey and what it actually was was a whole lot of nothing happening.

There was obviously great potential for this book but I don't think it was thoroughly thought out to really create a solid plot and likable characters. I just found myself bored with this read, and was already done and over it before the halfway way mark which probably was a contributing factor as to why I had skimmed pretty much everything after that. Overall I may follow-up with the next installment but that's a big maybe.

I knew Pippa DeCosta wrote urban fantasy, I just never got around to reading her books… until now. And The Daybreaker series is just what I’ve been looking for!

While she’s her own writer, humans like to compare things, so for me, her writing reminds me of Kim Harrison’s, The Hollows and Laurell K. Hamilton’s, Anita Blake series… before the series was 90% sex… when I really enjoyed it because there was a solid story.

I’ve been wanting to find a new series since I don’t read Anita Blake any more. Kim Harrison had stopped writing the series, although she decided to start up again with American Demon, which comes out in June, and I am so excited! And Jim Butcher hadn’t put out a new book in the Harry Dresden series in six years… although this year we’ll be getting two new books in that series!!!

Twilight Seeker has all the essentials in an urban fantasy; complex characters, a well developed world, it’s fast paced, and the stakes are high for everyone. And by placing the story around a train station and hotel, DaCosta has set up a series with so much potential with new guests arriving all the time, which means lots of new adventures for the reader.

The train may or may not be a living thing (we all know it is…) and it reminded me of the short story arc in Lost Girl that had the Death Train in it, which was a purgatory that exists in a dimension outside of the physical plane. And if you’ve never watched Lost Girl, but love urban fantasy, do yourself a favor and binge.

And do yourself another favor and read Twilight Seeker. I’m going to go get book two now, Night Scourge, and lose myself again in this amazing world!
