A Lux Catena Paranormal Romance Series Short Story
Lizette Butler is having a bad day. Worse? It's her birthday. Her twenty-first, to be exact. Even if she had loved ones to celebrate with, she's in no mood for parties or cake. Driving home from the bars with a killer headache, the only thing she wants to do is climb into bed and sleep.
So when her pack Alpha shows up in her living room unannounced and most definitely uninvited, it's one birthday surprise she can live without.
Maxime Simard isn't really one for surprises. He knows Lizette doesn't want him interfering in her life. He did enough of that two years ago, when he made a devastating mistake that left them both reeling.
Still, it's her birthday. And she's still part of his pack. In fact, it's time for her to remember that the distance between them is temporary. Two years ago, he agreed to give her space — to let her attend school and experience a little taste of freedom.

A freebie on my kindle, I didn't realise until I looked on Goodreads that I've read the book this prequel links to. This does end in a cliff-hanger. Part of me feels this little separate novella wasn't necessary (I skimmed the first few chapters of the book it is linked to - luckily it was a freebie so no issues but it would be ridiculous if it cost something.
Overall I have to say, if I hadn't read book one, and I was going on this little novella I would have gone to get Book 1 via KU.
This is a short intro into this series; it’s a prequel for Lizette and Max’s story, which we get the full story in What a Wolf Desires.
Lizette and Max are wolf shifters; he’s her alpha and a little bit older than her. There’s an attraction between them, but there’s also things standing between them; an incident occurs that isn’t fully clear to Lizette. Lizette thinks Max sent her away for 5 years because he doesn’t like her, but there’s more to it than she’s willing to admit; Lizette does need this separation to mature. This short read gives you a look into why Lizette and Max are at odds. A good lead into their full book! This seems like it’ll be an entertaining, unique wolf shifter romance!
The chemistry between the main characters is out of this freaking world!
I felt that the author had the ability to convey some depth to the personalities of the characters bringing life and likability to every person. The writing draws you in and keeps you interested until the end.
I received a copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
Short read that introduces us to Lizette and Maxime. Lizette thinks she's done with pack life until her alpha, Maxime shows up demanding otherwise. They've got issues that must be sorted and a big elephant in the room that must be addressed. This was intriguing towards the end. There was a lot of power dynamics in the story that may be setting up for other booms in the series.
I wish this was a full novel instead of a short with a cliff hanger.. Liked the plot and love interest so far but can not comment more about it...This is just a taste which normally is put at the end of a full novel. If it was a full novel i would no doubt give it 5*.
After sampling the upcoming story through this prequel, I was sold and had to read more of Max and Lizette's story. Great introduction to an amazing tale!!!!!
This is a short introduction to Lizette and Maxime. I like that not only does it give you an insight of their current relationship, but how it got there. I just wish the past and present were differentiated more, as it can become a bit confusing on what is the present and what is a flashback. This is just enough to make you intrigued and want more.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an unbiased, honest review.

This is a prequel to "What a Wolf Desires" but it's a nice beginning and look into the pack. It's the beginning of Max and Lizette’s story. It's a very quick and short story. Having read on to find out the rest of Max and Lizette's story.
This is a teaser introduction to the next in series. It is very short and a quick break time read. It does have sexual situations, so don't let anyone read over your shoulder.
