I enjoyed this because I was researching how to create the "perfect" fantasy world, while also understanding the way different regions of the world function as well. It combined the geographical settings of the world and how it influenced human beings in the process. How cultures that were once reliant on specific survival needs in countries adapted and shaped their cultures doing it. With the right mindset, this can be a very engaging book for understanding how to design fictional worlds as a writer.

For school: I read the 2020 version in 2021 and it felt completely caught up to the present moment, sans pandemic. The authors present information straightforwardly without biased terminology. Lots of clear maps that show boundaries, then explain how those boundaries are formed.
