Ever so often, I’m in need of a story based purely on fun and adventure. This was the perfect manga for just that; I had a great time following this cast of charming characters!

A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation follows a young traveller named Lizel who finds himself in a town looking strangely like his own. Subtle changes make it obvious that he is far from it. With no memory of how he ended up here, Lizel is certain he’ll need a local to show him around. He hires an adventurer named Gil as a tour guide of sorts, and together the two embark on a great journey.

The art style was really lovely! I’m definitely a fan of more clean and refined art when it comes to characters, and so the crisp lines in this manga were very eye pleasing. Lizel and Gil both had very distinctive features and expressions, which was great to see from a debut artist/author!

This book was everything that it claimed to be, a simple and fun tale! I couldn’t have asked for much more from this first volume, as I loved the characters and setup for adventurers. There seemed subtle hinting at a possible romance in future volumes, which I know I’ll be fond of. I’m already eager for the next volume! :)

Thank you to Netgalley and Diamond Book Distributors for the E-arc!

Have read volumes 1 through 4, so far. Seems to be adapted from a light novel series.

A mysterious young-looking man finds himself inexplicably transported to another parallel world, neither of them ours. The world-building here is standard D&D fare, with guilds of adventurers like Fairy Tale and its ilk but with less comedy or guts strewn about.

Our protagonist Lizel is for a change very smart (by manga standards) with considerable self-control and emotional intelligence, older than he looks, and he smoothly adjusts to his new situation, soon hiring adventurer Gil as bodyguard and companion. Lots of Fai-and-Kurogani vibes here -- a pair of classic CLAMP heroes I imprinted on early in my manga explorations -- but so far much less angsty. (Well, one couldn't get a much more angsty backstory than Fai's). It appears to be friendship fic rather than boy's love at the moment, though everyone is certainly drawn pretty.

We just got part of a chapter about the world and situation Lizel came from; more to explore there, I trust. The tale is notably mild-mannered, which suited my reading mood. Its mysteries that interest me most are those of character.

Would continue if there were more. I see a Vol. 5 is out, but my library didn't have it yet.

This was my first manga and I was so stoked to read this. Although I like the chemistry between the two main characters and I loved the artwork, the story was confusing. It was confusing in a way that even after I read that particular portion of the book 2 times...I still couldn't decipher the meaning! It was frustrating at times, how the story didn't make sense. I am not sure if I would wanna give the second volume a chance but I can see this as a great anime series.

This story is so interesting. I loves Lizel and Gil’s relationship! I’m a sucker for sweet friendships with gay innuendos. They’re so different from each other; Lizel is calm and composed and always very friendly, even when he’s attacking. Gil on the other hand, is moody and serious. The contrast worked so well. The characters gave me a mayor Black Butler vibe, which was awesome. The art is so beautiful I could stare at it all day. I simply loved it. Can’t wait for volume 2!

This light novel adaptation is perfectly nice in an unassuming way. It is an interesting tweak of the isekai formula in that Lizel is himself from a fantasy world before being whisked off to a different fantasy world, and there does seem to be a decent romance subplot building between he and Gil, the hard-nosed adventurer he gets to take charge of him. But unless it you're a dedicated genre fan, this is just okay, with the exception of the very clear, clean art, which outshines the story itself.

This was really lovely and sweet! I adored the art style so much, and I wish it had been longer because I'm already ready for more. I didn't realize it was an adaptation of a light novel series, but now I want to look into the source material because I could see this being the type of story I would really enjoy reading the original version of! It reminded me of so many JRPG games I've played over the years and that's a feeling that I wish more books gave me. ♥

Representation: Lizel & Gil are both queer

Manga set in a generic fantasy world of adventurers and nobles , with magic.

The protagonist , Lizel, seems to have been transported from his world into a similar world where his country doesn't exist. There is no information about his original world, nor does Lizel seem in a rush to return or if he plans to return at all. He take everithyng in strait giving an image of a laid-back playful young man who intend to became a adventurer as a game for fun and money. With that idead contracts a B-adventurer named Gil as his bodyguard/guide in this world.

There is no surprises or twists in this volume. Almost nothing of action. I don't know if I will go for the second volume.

This was a gently diverting manga with initial hints of yaoi. Was interesting to see this was adapted from a series of novels and to read the novel author's comments about how the main character Lizel is different in the manga, as I found Lizel to be an engaging if maybe too calm and unnecessarily lightly Machiavellian. The friendship/romance aspects were fun and I could see Lizel engaging on a campaign of empire building in the new dimension? time? place? he finds himself in. Fun brain candy.

This had such a strange name 'A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation' that I found myself drawn towards it. I had no clue that it was a manga adaptation of an existing book series, which might explain some of the issues I had with this.

Overall it was a very quick and quite cute read, but when I stopped to think about it, there were some questions. Lizel is transported into this world, and while neither he nor we find out why he is there or how he got there, this seems to be almost immediately forgotten and is not an issue. Strangely, what this story seemed to be lacking most was some sort of conflict. Lizel wants to be an adventurer, here you go - and he's really good at it. There are some very difficult riddles to solve - just give them to Lizel and they are solved in no time.

I am however quite curious to see how the series develops and if there will be somewhat more of an overarching story line and some things to overcome for Lizel.

*ARC received from Netgalley in return for an honest review*

First off, I have to say the art style was nice and easy to get into. It is not as flashy and showy as some manga I have read but it is solid and clear to understand. This makes reading enjoyable and quick.

The world and plot feel very much like you have been dropped into a guild style video game. While not my favorite arc, it has the potential to be interesting.

I struggled a bit with getting a feel for the characters and the timeline. The pacing was a bit slow yet somehow it is supposed to be assumed that Lizel and Gil have been working together for a month. Somehow Lizel seems to pick up on a whole bunch of things in this new world that left me wondering where did he suddenly become an expert. His chill-ness sometimes becomes a bit off-putting.

With this first volume laying the foundation of the world and characters, I'm assuming that the rest of the series may pick up the pace a bit. But for now. This one still felt like there are some pieces missing and the action comes across and predictable and null.

This is charming!

I'm enjoying the clean lines of this style. The author knows human proportions well and shows it in their work. It's very pleasing on the eyes.

The beginning was the most confusing part. We needed to have some sort of knowledge of what was happening, which did eventually come. However, we were thrown into the story in this instance and I feel that wasn't he best thing to do, with their story.

Once you get into the story, it reads like an RPG game story with little quirks. The overall story is deeper than it seems. There is humor but it's cleverly placed. It's obviously not done by an novice because of how rich the story seems.

I don't exactly trust the main character, but he's definitely interesting. His relationships with other characters is quite strange. I'm interested in learning his backstory and his motives.

Can't wait for the next!

I received this manga from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

Meet Lizel, a nobleman who finds himself in a city that looks like his.. but isn’t. He decides to stay calm and enjoy the time off. Yep. The premise to this manga sounds amazing and of course I had to click the Read Now.

From the start I loved Lizel. How calm he was, how he didn’t waver or panic despite how people looked at him. I loved how he inventorized his situations and decided to get some items by selling some of his things. How he calmly went looking for information and people to trust. It was actually quite hilarious how calm Lizel was. Nothing fazed him and I could already see the direction this story would be going and I was very eager for it.
I loved how he asked Gil all the questions and adapted to life at the town/world. Of course, still determined to get back, but why not relax first. 😛 He is really laid-back it seems, though I wonder if it is all an act or not (we do get some hints later on, which made me happy and excited, Lizel in serious mode is just swoons).
I had such a big laugh at how Lizel was in the mornings, or I should specify, when it is high time he gets out of bed.

Gil was another fantastic character, oh and totally my type. 😛 He has ego, but I also could see he was actually quite friendly inside. I was curious to see why he was only rank B, why he went solo, and oh yes, why his nickname. Thankfully, the mangaka gives us all the answers.

Oh, and is it bad that I totally shipped Gil and Lizel together? They just had some kind of chemistry going on and also their banter and chats. Squee!

I loved seeing the town, see how one becomes an adventurer (though it seems to be the same as many other books featuring adventurers), I love seeing the monsters, and oh yes the weapons. Lizel seems to have quite a fancy one. And we meet new people!

The art was just fabulous, I really liked the style of it, plus the expressions on characters faces was just hilarious and great. I often had quite a laugh about it.

All in all, this volume features Lizel’s first month in his new surroundings and I had a lot of fun reading it, before I knew it the volume was over. Argh, I cannot wait for the next volume. I would recommend this one to all in search for a calm, peaceful, magical read featuring a very chill protagonist.

Lizel finds himself in a world that looks a lot like his, but isn't really his. As he is starting to find his way around and make his way, he comes across Gil, a seasoned adventurer. Until Lizel can find his way home, he wants to explore this world he is currently in. He recruits Gil to stick with him as they explore this world.
This series seems to be about Lizel becoming an adventurer himself while he is searching for his kingdom. I found myself not really focusing in on this one, and it wasn't keeping my attention. Sadly, I think I am going to be done with it.

This was absolutely wonderful and delightful! A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation was also exactly what I needed to get out of a reading slump. Lately all the books and manga I have been reading have been dark and gruesome. This manga is the complete opposite. It's full of adventure, lightness, and fun!

Lizel and Gil are such unique characters! First of all I really enjoy Lizel's love of adventure and of course his very laid back personality. He takes everything in stride, he is confident, and he knows what he is doing (usually). Gil is his complete opposite - broody, tends to be uptight, and is more aggressive.

Throughout the volume you can see the development of the relationship between Gil and Lizel. They both have respect for each other and seem to start to understand each other towards the end. While this is not labeled BL or Love x Love or a romance, there is definitely a potential for it. Even if there will not be a romance, seeing these two develop as friends and as a team is going to be wonderful.

What I really love about this unique manga - is it feels like I am playing Skyrim or another RPG world. This world building is surrounded by going on adventure's and completing quests. There is even "leveling up" if you complete so many requests. The higher the rank you are the bigger the quests you are able to go on. The plot and world building is a breath of fresh air when it comes to fantasy worlds within manga. It's unique and It doesn't follow the plots of other fantasy genre manga.

I am really looking forward to the next volumes and the volumes to come from these artists and story teller.

Well if you've read any previous isekai series you'll find a lot to like here. Its a very light adventure story, with hints at a deeper story in the background. I found myself quite intrigued by mentions of the mysterious 'King' and can't wait to find out more about him in future volumes.

The art is lovely, crisp but with an adorable edge. No two characters are the same and are easily distinguishable, even though I was confused at times because there are quite a few of them and some of them are nameless which didn't help! I loved Gil's character design though, and Lizel was very cute, especially when just waking up.

The title is a bit of a mouthful, but this is fairly typical of a light novel adaption. They all have exceedingly long titles for some reason.

I can't fault the translation, everything flows smoothly and I didn't find anything particularly jarring or confusing.

One thing that did mark this down for me was that Lizel didn't seem to struggle with anything in this new world. I thought this effected the suspense a little and would have liked to see things be a bit harder for him.

I would also say that this volume stops in a very strange place. It kind of just ends and then segues into a side story that seems to take place a bit earlier?

That said though I did like the development of Gil and Lizel's relationship and am interested in where it goes in future volumes.

Thanks to TokyoPop for making this book available to me via #Netgalley.
We follow Lizel who found himself transported to a world that seems so familiar to the one he is from (which we never saw) but he quickly learns the way of the new world and how people treated him with much awe and respect. He was dressed like a nobleman and he looked and spoke like one.
Soon he meets Gil who warns him about a group of guys, they introduce themselves and they Lizel employs Gil into his service. This is when he finds out that Gil is an Adventurer who hires himself out and he is very popular in the field.
They go on a tour of the city and they met other lower rank adventurers. After Lizel shows that he has some magical power, his entry into town spreads like wide fire and everyone gets to know about the new guy in town. He uses this fame in hopes that he would become an adventurer too and be a part of the Guild.
He has decided to take his situation and make it into a fun one.
I really want to know more but the characters just felt too one dimensional for me, I don't know how the relationship between Lizel and Gil would progress and I am quite interested.

Intersting premise, but flat with key information missing to grow the suspense (it didn't). I definitely feel like the series has premise, but this is yet another manga where you are thrown into a world and characters with zero explanation and little development along the way. While you get to know the main two characters decently well, it feels like information is purposefully being left out to make you read more just to find out the answers to questions. The teases aren't really compelling, more a mild curiosity. I also have a hard time trusting any of the characters because things feel dubious and falsely cheery.
But, all of that being said, it's an interesting premise, and I'm curious enough to continue.

This was super cute, and honestly there's not much I can say about it because manga are pretty short overall. I like the art, I liked the characters and I loved the story and when I felt like the author was explaining too much they actually stopped right at the moment where I felt like I might get bored. It was pretty perfect actually, the only thing keeping it from 5 stars is that it wasn't very action packed. Everything was a little too convenient and fell into place perfectly there was no excitement.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the e-ARC.

Lizel finds himself lost in a new city that he doesn't know and also he doesn't know how he got there! He meets Gil, an adventurer, and together they become partners and seek the city for answers.

The plot is really great and interesting! I love epic adventures in cities with castles and magic, and this story is one of them! I really like Lizel, he's so gentle and adorable. On the other hand, Gil is serious and distant. But once the get to know each other they start to like their differences. They make a fantastic team.
This is not a boys love manga BUT they have a LOT of chemistry so I hope they become something romantic in the future.

I didn´t expect to like it so much and I'm so happy I did! I can't wait to read the second volume.

I read this for a book club, its different, sort of an Isekai, sort of a comedy.

The art style is really good, and I like the relaxed vibe our protagonist has while fantasy adventuring is going on.

There are some strong potential romance vibes here too.

But overall, I didn't love anything about this either. It isn't bad, it has a few good traits, but nothing to make me feel like I have to read further.

~~ second read ~~

I still love Lizel and his harem the companions he collected along his journey in the world he’s suddenly transported into.

And yes, I still don’t get certain dialogues or scenes. It’s either lost in JP -> EN translation, or lost in light novel -> manga translation. I wish I could get my hands on the light novel.

The isekai genre is a pretty popular one, and for storytelling reasons, it’s easy to see why. Someone from one world magically ends up in another one, and it’s a great way for characters to drop a whole load of world-building exposition on the newbie. It’s a good way to get readers to relate to the protagonist, since the reader is just as ignorant about the new world and gets to learn and grow alongside the main character. Usually this is done with someone from this world getting teleported into a new world, whether that world is a pure fantasy world, the world of a video game, or something based on history but with a twist.

In A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation, we have a character from a secondary world getting plopped down into another secondary world, which, honestly, is something I don’t think I’ve really seen done before. It instantly removes the intended relatability from the main character, since the reader can’t approach the story from the perspective of, “I know the same things as this person because we grew up in the same world.” (Even though, if I’m honest, that relatability is often just a shell; lots of people grow up in this world and can’t understand or relate to each other; the biggest way readers tend to relate to protagonists in isekai stories is through their shared ignorance of the new world, which we tend to interpret as being alike because we’re from the same world.) The main character of this manga, Lizel, comes from a world that’s as much a fantasy to us as the one he randomly finds himself stuck in.

This leads to a bit of an awkward beginning in the manga as we don’t know what Lizel’s world is like or in what ways this new world is different to him. Both worlds seem to involve magic, so him trying to buy a magic bag with infinite capacity isn’t weird or unreasonable in either his world or the new one. But he’s pretty tight-lipped about what his own world was like, so A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation seems at first less like an isekai story and more like an instance of a resourceful person dealing with some degree of amnesia, or just someone who had spent their life very sheltered. It’s difficult to tell sometimes which areas of Lizel’s ignorance are because he’s from a different world, or because he’s just encountering things in life that he hasn’t encountered before.

The world he ends up in seems rather like a generic fantasy video game. There’s a ranked adventurer’s guild, where people sign up and take quests for profit, like killing ten rats outside of town. Some weapons are only found as loot at the end of dungeons. It’s always weird to me to see ideas like this outside of video games, though logically, there’s no reason they should fit into a video game’s world any more realistically than a world portrayed in any other medium.

Which brings me to what I consider A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation‘s strongest point: getting the reader to question preconceived notions. Why is something more believable or acceptable in this form as opposed to that form? What qualifies something to be considered this instead of that? Why do we relate to some protagonists we often have absolutely nothing in common with them? As I read through this manga, I found myself hitting stumbling blocks, and then being prompted to consider why they were stumbling blocks to begin with. Was it a flaw with the manga and its story, or was it just that I’d come to expect things to be a certain way and instead was being given something other than the typical presentation?

I very much want to continue with this series. It gave me some good food for thought, and I enjoy the way Lizel and his bodyguard/tour guide Gil interact with each other, especially since they both guard so many secrets about their respective lives. (Also want to see if the slashy vibe I’m getting off them is actually leading to something or is just there for the fanservice.) The story’s progression revealed that there are connections between Lizel’s original world and the new world he ended up in, so I want to know how that aspect of the story is going to develop. Apparently this manga is based on a light novel, so I’m sure I could just go look up the answers to my questions, but I’d prefer to keep reading the manga for now and be surprised as I go.

I think fans of isekai stories could like this one a lot, if they go in with the understanding that they’re not going to get stereotypical isekai fare. It hits a lot of the same points, but also is its own unique story. It’s a good one for those who enjoy their manga with a strong fantasy flavour, but who are also looking for a combination between the “fish out of water” story and the “rich noble who can do what they want” story. I’m intrigued, and I really do want to follow A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation to its conclusion; my interest has been piqued, and I’m not about to let it lie.

A fun twist on the iseikai genre, with the main character, Lizel, getting dropped into a fantasy world....from another fantasy world. Because of this, and because of his ultra-laid-back personality, he has no trouble navigating this new world. It helps that it is similar to his own world, almost uncannily so. He decides he needs someone to show him around, and after selling his sword for a lot of money, he meets and hires Gil, who unbeknownst to Lizel, is the highest B ranked adventurer in the town. Gil helps Lizel join a guild and train as an adventurer, and there are swoony subtle hints of interest between the two- seriously, so sigh-worthy! As far as the other stuff that happens, it's fairly basic training and introducing secondary characters, with enough hints at future intrigue and possibilities to make me want the next volume now. There's the usual unanswered but hinted at questions, like what is Lizel's background, anyway; who is the requester of the labyrinth quest, and how will he fit into the story; what is Studd's story; and more. The artwork is gorgeous, Lizel's expressions especially are so emotive, fitting his character very well, and the other characters are drawn in a way that really expresses their personalities as well. The character development is good so far; we have a good sense of the characters, and we can guess at the ways they'll grow in the future. A good start, I'd say- while not action packed, there are enough teases of intrigue and mystery to get me to look forward to the next book.

I recieved an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed reading this manga! This was a refreshing take on the isekai genre which I think will really appeal to readers.

Lizel suddenly finds himself transported to a world that’s not his. While he is able to speak the language and understand others, he has no other knowledge of the world he is in. Additionally, he appears to be a nobleman of some kind. Instead of panicking, Lizel decides to make the most of his time in this world. He goes so far as to hire an adventurer named Gil as a form of tour guide and bodyguard. Lizel isn’t sure how long he will be in this world, but he has decided to enjoy this random vacation of his!

This honestly was a short and funny read! Lizel acts really laid-back and aloof for his situation which is very different from your average isekai. The way he goes about living in this new world is rather amusing, especially since it often annoys the usually grumpy Gil. I’m really curious about the backstories of both of them! Fans of the action/adventure genres as well as the fantasy and isekai genres will enjoy this book! It reminds me vaguely of The Rise of the Shield Hero!

I had no idea that this was based off a light novel series. I will definitely be looking forward to the upcoming volumes of this series!

Okay, When I read the blurb for this Graphic novel, I was really intruigued. Mysteriously coming to a city and not having any idea about how and why really sets the mood to the story at the start. It's a story of an adventure and a bit of romance that can warn your heart!

This book follows our two characters: Lizel, who has a very sunny and a happy personality with sass hidden underneath all of it, and Gil, who has a mysterious vibe to him but is such a cinnamon roll to be honest! They both had amazing chemistry and their interactions were super adorable.
.
I absolutely loved that art style and that colour scheme was absolutely stunning! I really love reading Manga for it's unique reading format, and this art just made it ao much more enjoyable! The story line was quite confusing at times and I didn't understand where the author was taking the story, but it was still such a funny and light read. I would have loved to read more about Lizel's Pov and his drastic change of environment. But I love Lizel and Gil together trying to become adventurous and fulfilling tasks. Overall, I absolutely had an amazing time reading the book and I can't wait to read the next volume!

Lizel is a lovely and charming nobleman who founds himself isekaied to the world similar to his own, but not really. First volume sums up his first month of the adventures of the new world. To blend in, he hires a young adventurer Gil to help him settle down and start a career as an adventurer. Lizel wants to enjoy his new vacation to his fullest before he gets back home. He does.... right?

First of all, art itself was really clean and neat and really nice to look at. Storywise, we get to meet our main characters, Lizel and Gil. We also get to see the new world Lizel ends up in. There's a lot of classic fantasy adventuring in the guild going on, so if you love that type of stuff, you'll be pumped. Authors also focus on blooming master-companion relatinship between Gil and Lizel, which I really enjoyed.

A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation is a little fun series I'd enjoy to everyone who wants to relax and enjoy some simple but cute story.

Right off the bat, I am already loving the art style; it’s so pretty, what the hell?

I like Gil more than Lizel; …I definitely just have a type when only certain characters I can grow immediate fondness for while others I cannot, even if the personality is remotely the same as a character I do like.

I could do without the instant attachment between them, though; like, show them slowly bonding, don’t just skip a few days or hours and be like “they are now close and/or fond of each other in some fashion”.

I didn’t quite care about the plot/story but it wasn’t bad. And the characters aren’t particularly annoying.
