Michael J. Allen is a USA Today bestselling author of multi-layer science fiction and fantasy novels. Born in Oregon and an avid storm fan, he lives in far too hot & humid rural Georgia with his two black Labradors: Myth and Magesty. On those rare occasions he tears himself away from reading, writing and conventions he can be found enjoying bad scifi movies, playing D&D or the occasional video game, getting hit with sticks in the SCA or hanging out with the crew of Starfleet International’s U.S.S. DaVinci.

Another exciting novelette from Michael J. Allen, an author with an exemplary ability to write across varied genres. This gritty science fiction tale follows a band of mostly reluctant space pirates robbing a luxury liner in order to gain the necessary capital to keep their families fed.
The story is told from the points of view of Gil, the leader of the heist, and his girlfriend Tina. The majority of the band of pirates are simply people forced into a bad situation. Allen writes the bad apple, Hart, in a strikingly realistic fashion. One would not wish to be in the same room with this sociopath.
Allen has a gift for fleshing out characters without becoming bogged down in detail. The reader can easily picture the characters and scenes through an account which reads almost like a personal log. Criminal Justice is an easy read without being overly simplistic. I finished it in two sessions. I had a couple of minor quibbles regarding comma use, in a couple of cases feeling that the comma shouldn't be there and in one case feeling that there should be a comma where there wasn't, but this falls into the category of nit-picking.
My favorite character in the story was the robot Chimney. This charming A.I. stole the show.

Michael J Allen does it again. Fantastic read, in-depth character development, exciting, and worth the read!

As I was sitting here reading my book ignoring my family because that’s what I do when I read Michael book I was caught up with the story of piracy danger complications and betrayal. I don’t know bout you all but that’s going to keep me going. This is a great book it’s what I call a reread. You know when you can’t find anything else to do you and can’t afford a new book so you go reread one you got. Will that’s this one. Ok a little teaser they are working to hack the rail when all of a sudden a battleship comes through and stops

I received this book in exchange for my honest review of the book.

This one at the beginning couldn't actually pick up anything to liked for any reason, now it's not a bad book, at the beginning it's very tense and it adds to the plot nicely.

It has a very fast pace, being short and all, the character that intrigued me more was Tina and Gil really, the others were interesting but they had something special that drawn me to them.

By the end I was bought by Tina and wanted to know more about her and what actually happened to bring them to where they were at this very moment, so hopefully in any other of the books of the author it will be exploiting that.

Very recommended if youre looking for a short read for a trip maybe an airplane.

Well this was def a different type of book for me, it did keep my attention through most of it. I'm not 100% used to these types of books even though i read about 10-15 books or listen to about that many a week. The author of the book was able to keep my attention, it was a very good book and i will def recommend it to family and friends.

Criminal Justice by Michael J. Allen was quite a roller coaster ride. I haven't read too many science fiction novels, but I quite enjoyed this novelette. With that being said it took me a little while to get adjusted to the storyline. Being that this was a short novel, I didn't get the chance to get back stories on the main characters involved.

Allen infused this story with lots of action, and it really did take off with a blast right out of the gate. Tina was one of my favorite characters (I could be partial because I'm a woman); but she to me showed the most range of characters. They whole group had many hard decisions to make out in space on the drop of a dime. Allen moves the story along pretty well to where I did not experience in drag time.

The book did have me feeling a sense of wanting more. I was thoroughly invested in it and believe the storyline could lend itself to a prequel as well as follow up editions.

Okay so first let me say that the ebook is well written and the plot and the storyline is really good. I like all the characters.

I like how the characters handle themselves In that kind of situation, because I probably would of went crazy lol.

With all that being said I really don't like space books that much but it was actually really good.

Love the title that's what first caught my attention.

If it was a chapter book I would finish the novel.

Keep up the good job at writing and can't wait to see what else is in store.

Thanks.

Criminal Justice was an enjoyable read that kept me engaged in the story. I enjoyed the characters and the environment in the story. It's a short story but it'll leaving you wanting to know more about the characters and more of their background because you're left with so many questions. I'd like to read more of this because a lot was left to your imagination. There was so much that could have been done with the story. Hoping this would be picked back up and a more fleshed out story comes from it.

I was offered a copy in exchange for my honest review.

I am not usually a big fan of science-fiction, but this story really grasped my attention, and KEPT IT! There was so much packed into such a short story! This was very well written and most of the characters were developed. I did feel like there were a few areas that needed more explanation, but that is often a problem I have with short stories/mini-novels. Overall, "Criminal Justice" is worth the read!

I'm currently reading this book and what can I say aside from that it is amazing! I have been getting lost in the plotline, don't worry I won't give away any suppliers, you're going to have to read it yourself to find out. It is definitely a page-turner and my family has been getting annoyed when I zone out and become engrossed in reading this book! I recommend this book completely.

So I am not a huge reader but when I do find something I am interested in I usually end up really liking it. This one was a little slow at the beginning and I almost decided to not finish it but I decided to give it a try. And I am glad I did, it turned out to be very good and exciting. I really would recommend this for others to read.

This is a short read sci-fi with awesome characters and a great storyline. Gil and Tina are sort of the focus but the whole group of characters come alive with this author's storytelling skills. If you are like me, you will want more!
