*Spoilers*
This book just wasn’t good.
It’s badly in need of proofreading and editing, with myriad mistakes throughout.
The characters are cliche stereotypes that have no depth. The romantic aspect is terrible, its all surface with no emotion. The entire book tells instead of shows.
The final straw was the complete recounting of the wedding ceremony, including full prayers, and the coronation.
I didn’t enjoy this at all.

Nathan lives on another planet but comes to Earth at times. Humans don't know about the aliens that visit here and his people want to keep it that way. Nathan is a dragon shifter and the king of his people after his brother who had been the king, died.

Ivy is a singer hoping to make it big one day but for now she plays gigs in places that pay her. Nathan meets Ivy and finds himself drawn to her so he asks her out and she agrees. They only go on a couple of dates before all hell breaks loose for both of them.

There's a rogue dragon shifter that has been killing werewolves and in order to stop a war between his people and the wolves, Nathan will have to figure out who the killer is. But before he can make any headway in that case, the killer targets Ivy and it's only her quick thinking that saves her from being killed as well.

I wasn't sure how Ivy was going to react when Nathan tells her what he is and where he's from but she takes it better than some might think. Poor Nathan has a lot of his plate with a killer on the loose, his sister in law being very sick and trying to look out for her as well as finding Ivy who might be his mate and trying to tell her who and what he is and what she means to him. It's a lot.

A decent read

I enjoyed the story, but the spelling and grammatical errors frustrated me somewhat, when I had to re-read to get context.

Loved it

Loved this read, loved the writing and the dialogue of the characters. Nathan and Ivy are good strong characters. I loved how even though Ivy never imagined herself as a wife, she was such a loner she’d even estranged herself from her own family for no reason other than she needed to do her life on her own. So imagine when she meets Nathan, who is very polite, buttoned down and regimented. Their chemistry is immediate and even Ivy can’t deny it, though she also can’t admit to herself how much she’s grown to love him in such a short time. She has been focused on her musical career so single-mindedly for so long she can’t imagine being confined in a relationship. When a family emergency brings Nathan back home and he finally admits to her they are fated mates. The idea is so restricting to her she rejects him and runs. Only as soon as she gets home and a villain seeking to destroy Nathan sets his sights on her and she has to figure out how to warn and protect the man she loves

Realistic characters, romance and interesting plot

I'm hooked on Renee Carr's writing.
Nathan, Ivy, Devon, Sarah and the secondary characters are believable, interesting people. Nathan's and Ivy's life circumstances are worlds apart but they can't help loving each other with all they are.
Great world-building again, with some very moving events along with plot surprises and action.

Good

This was a good story. It didn't say but I assume when they shift and than shift back that they aren't naked. It also amazes me that even on other planets that greed and wanting power is at the front of such sick violence. I wish that people everywhere could just be happy with what they get. To bad that won't ever happen. Thank you for this interesting story, I really enjoyed it.

Love totally connected with serving devine power.

Truely enjoyed this story. Many neat twists but what truely won my heart and mind was the wedding and coronation words and vows. Such truth, beauty, and connection to God, by whatever name you believe in and use, brought tears to.my eyes and goosebumps to the rest of me. I believe you will truely enjoy this story. I hope you connect with the loving spirital ceremonies at the end. But it is your decision

My Opinion

I wanted to like this story but I couldn't. He's Dragon but a different kind of dragon. His diet is unusual. I don't know how because the author tried to make that secret of something like it's the recipe for Coke or something. Lost interest, just too much going on for me to get a true connection with these characters. I'm just gonna cut my loses with this book and call it quits on this series.

If you love dragons….

A good read, a gentle read and an enjoyable one. A couple of minor bits of clunky editing/writing but mostly well written. Love the main characters so enjoy finding out about them!

I received this book as a gift of an advanced read copy and I would like to give an honest opinion of what I read.

I really enjoyed reading this story. I loved the plot or I should say plots. I love when a character has one way of thinking at the beginning of a story and as the story goes on they themselves begin to grow and mature into a completely different person. This story has so much going on in it that it truly needs to be read for one to see the full potential of it all. I will admit the ceremonies are a little lengthy but I did like they way that it was put together. It a definite five star book for me.

Ivy has been working herself to the bone trying to make a name for herself and to get the kind of pay that she feels she deserves as a singer. She spends her days going to auditions, and fittings for different shows she has been hired on for. She finally gets a break by getting to sing at this one club that has a lot of scouts that go there looking for new talent. She is told that there is only one person in the VIP section that it was all sold out just for him so at some point during her singing she should pay him some attention. Ivy is a woman at takes on life in her own way. Head on. She doesn’t take anything from anyone she is strong willed and determined. So much so that many of the people that work around her have given her the nick name of the Ice Queen.

Nathan is the Dragon King. He is exhausted from all of the work that he had been doing. His friend Devon the Werewolf came to see him to tell him about a rash of murders being committed on his kind. He showed Nathan the pictures and it showed that a dragon had killed these shifters and on top of the these were Royals that were murdered. Nathan explained that he needed a break from what he was doing and wanted to go back down to Earth with Devon. This is where Devon arranges for Nathan to go to a club later that night. The very same club that Ivy is singing at.

When Ivy comes out and starts her set she doesn’t think anything about what she is doing she is in her eliminate. As she sings her last song she goes out to the audience and hands out flowers the last flower the gives to the man in VIP. And that is how they meet. Nathan a very proper button up Dragon King, and a very strong willed career minded singer. Will they ever be able to come to an agreement with each other. And what about the murderer that is out on the loose. To read how all these things slowly combine and weave together into a story in a real treat.

A well written dragon shifter story with romance, drama and likable characters. Nathan, the Dragon King, is tired of the responsibility of ruling, the final straw is that a report came about a family of Royal wolf shifters that were killed by a unknown dragon on Earth. Nathan and the Royal Wolf King Devon are friends and just got the two clans to establish peace between them so Nathan assigns his brother Joshua to find the culprit. Nathan decides to take a couple days off on Earth to unwind. Devon sets up Nathan for a night at a club which he meets Ivy who is singing there. Nathan has a instant connection to Ivy and asks her out. Ivy agrees and is attracted to him but she's a career lady devoted to her singing. When Nathan realizes that Ivy is his fated mate will she choose him and become his Queen or her singing career that is being recognized among her peers? Will Nathan and his brother Joshua find who killed the wolves? I enjoyed reading this romantic and action dragon story and look forward to other books written by this this author. I'll be curious and looking forward to stories about Nathan's brothers and Devon and his people. I volunteer to read and review this ARC via Booksprout.

This was my first time reading this author. As a new series, it was a good start. A good read that is a mix of PNR and a bit of sci-fi. The dragons, while they do frequent Earth, actually live on another planet. Nathan thinks he's found his mate when he meets Ivy. He is immediately drawn to her. But, what will happen when she finds out what and who he really is. There is action, suspense and a little romance. But Nathan is King of the dragons, the story wouldn't be complete without betrayal. Someone always thinks they can do your job better. The question is, can he have his mate and save his kingdom at the same time. The author did a good job setting up this new world and introducing characters. I'm sure we will learn more about each of them in the future.

The fated mate theme starts off as expected: he's a stressed dragon prince trying to take a break from ruling at a nightclub and spots the singer a the club. Instant attraction. He thinks she's the one, but of course, he's got a secret that he's a dragon. How will she respond? Of course, his rule is also being threatened which adds some mystery to the plot. Will their love survive? The formula is common, but what makes this book different is the character development. Ivy is strong and ambitious and Nathan is righteous and flawed. This world of dragons, werewolves, and humans, is well set up for future stories.

I receive an ARC of this book in exchange for a voluntary and honest review.

The Dragon and the Singer is a perfectly paced story! It flows from beginning to end leaving this reader anxious to visit this couple again. Nathan, the hero, was nothing one would imagine a dragon to be. Even tempered, wise, sophisticated and extremely loyal to a fault might be dangerous for some leaders but it works perfectly for him. Ivy seems to be his exact opposite but as the story progresses we learn they may be more alike than not.
As their relationship progresses the danger increases and their unity will be instrumental to their success.

This story is about finding your true dream and if its what you want. Nathan is a Dragon King who has many responsibilities that it gets to him and does not rest much. Now Wolves are dying and could break the truth between them. Ivy loves to sing and goes from one gig to another. When she is singing she meets Nathan and feels a connection. What will Nathan do to get her? What will Ivy do to reach her dreams? Who are killing the wolves? Will they go after Ivy or Nathan? Can they protect each other? Can each change who they are?

This is an excellent summer read for those who like shifter stories. What a lovely book to relax with and enjoy the summer break.
This story has it all. A feisty woman who knows her own mind and won't be pushed around. A gorgeous Royal who is struggling with his life and rule.
Murder, and a relative trying to sabotage the peace between different shifters; who will use any means to achieve his goals.
And through it all an attraction blossoming into love.
I thoroughly enjoyed this and recommend it as a summer read or as a winter read snuggled up warm, depending on where you are.

Nathan, now walks in the footsteps of his brother, never expecting or wanting to be King of the Dragons. He is determined to do his best for his subjects, but in need of momentary respite. His ally and friend a wolf shifter suggests he come to Earth for a relaxing night out. Ivy is singer, music resonating through her soul. She's working hard, certain her big break is on the horizon. Quietly enjoying his night out Nathan is captivated by the songstress performing. The attraction between the pair is immediate. However he has secrets, she has ambition. Can they make it work, even as danger lurks? An interesting and fun first time read.

This story is kind of fun and whimsical. Ivy is sassy and knows what she wants. Nathan is King of the Dragons and knows he can lead his people. One night when Nathan is relaxing on earth; he comes face to face with Ivy in a nightclub. He knows that she is his fated mate. Nathan is kind of stuffy and old fashion. There are lots of problems running a kingdom and trying to romance your mate. This is where it gets whimsical and sometimes mushy which makes for a couple of giggles. I liked the characters and although Nathan is slow on the intake; he eventually gets the issues and knows how to handle them. The ending is good and I can't wait to see how the author handles the next book.
