One Night. That was all it was supposed to be; one night for me to be someone else, someone different and let down my hair. But one night wasn’t enough with Jackson Radcliffe and when we met again, under different circumstances, all of it a farce, I wished that our one night together never happened. One night turned into two and then three and before I knew it I was lost in him so deeply it was hard to breathe. How would I get through one more night, let alone a month without falling completely?
Jackson
One night. The woman I saw on the dance floor, with fiery hair and emerald eyes enraptured me so much that I broke all of my rules. But, it was supposed to be one night of rule breaking which morphed into weeks of pretending. I tried to keep my walls up while Liza Deveroux broke them all down. How could one night make me wish to be a better man while my past rolled in and threatened to destroy everything I didn’t know I wanted or needed?
Victoria J. Best writes contemporary romance with a sexy twist. She lives on the east coast with her husband, two kids, and two very spoiled pups. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, baking or crafting (probably in that order).
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I scored this book 3.5 stars. I really liked Liza but found her weak. I would of run a mile if I was in her shoes. I didn't like Jackson at all. I thought he was very rude and obnoxious and very selfish too. The story line was good but had a very predictable ending. Not a bad start for a debut novel though.
Yeah, this was a no go for me. First of all, Liza, I didn’t like her character so much. Strong was used to describe her, but she was nothing but strong the way she kept falling over him. Every time she wanted to stand up to him, she was lost in his kiss. I mean, come one. Really? Was she that much of a pushover? And the secrets he’d had that his “wife” hung over his head was so lame. And who jumps on a plane and agrees to marry someone you’ve know for what, a week?! Plus she’ll stand by him no mater what?! Gah!
First book I had read by Victoria J Best, and it was OK, I would definitely read another, liked the characters, chemistry was good, book kept u interested, glad Jackson and Liza got there HEA, I thought it was a series about the same characters but the 2nd book is about Natalie.
Great debut! I will definitely be reading her next book, One Song!
After being stood up by her friend, it was only supposed to be a one night fling for Liza. A chance to be someone different with someone she would never see again.
Fate has other ideas and puts Liza in Jackson's path. Then she didn't know his name - now she does.
Like magnets, they are drawn to each other even when they try to fight it.
I really enjoyed this story! It starts off with a bang and doesn't let up throughout the story. Jackson is hiding things from Liza and bit by bit they are revealed throughout the book.
The only thing I would consider a let down was the "big, bad secret" that I didn't feel was anywhere near as big and bad as all the others that Jackson was keeping.
Luckily there is enough drama and sex throughout the book that this didn't put me off enough not to enjoy it or want to read the next book about Liza's friend/roommate.
