What a great action-adventure story, with intense characters and very interesting situations and plots!! Jack Steel is a Blackhood Operative, making a career out of protecting and saving innocents and stopping terrorists for good! But this new Op he is on starts to make no sense, as they are ordered to kill civilians- something that turns Jack's stomach and has him questioning every order given...
Unable to follow these orders, Jack screws up the whole 'mission', and vows to find those responsible for every gut-wrenching order to kill people who were NOT terrorists! Only now everyone has been ordered to kill Him! Jack is already having problems due to his daughter going missing a year ago, now he must use every skill and mental ability to keep his friends and family safe while searching for a monk almost murdered on that mission but whose ideas could change the world...
Suspenseful, with explosive action and exploration of leaders who lose their way, turning to do what they want, Not what the public expects!
I received an ARC from the author, who I thank for an incredible adventure and amazing new character. I give you my honest thoughts and feelings in this review. If you enjoy thrillers, Pick this Book UP!!

Fascinating Web of Intrigue

This is the first novel by Geoffrey Saign that I have read. Jack Steel is retired from the military but now works as a Blackhood operative to carry out specific missions that the US government does not wish to be associated with. On his previous mission Jack questions his orders when he is told to ignore the longstanding explicit directive that no civilians are to be killed. Jack foils the mission by injuring the leg of the military chap in charge of the mission. He then comes under intense scrutiny but is cleared. Jack is carrying a heavy personal burden because his young daughter disappeared two years earlier while playing in the caves on his property.

Jack retreats to his country fortress. Intruders penetrate his outer security on a mission to kill him. The powers that be also dispatch a young woman to lure him into revealing his secrets.

Jack is recruited for another mission which he discovers is aimed at taking out some Mexican generals and a friar who is very popular among the common folk. Jack captures a rebel leader and kills him. He lets the friar escape. Later Jack comes to believe in the friar's mission.

In the background of this plot are dark powerful forces whose motives are anything but good. They have the President and the Director of the CIA under their control via blackmail. Matters come to a head at an environmental conference in Hawaii where Jack, despite repeated attempts to kill him, again rescues the friar from assassination and precipitates the downfall of the web of conspirators.

A very fast-paced action thriller. Though this is not a genre I usually read, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Recommended.

This book starts out with a bang, pun intended.

Jack Steel is on a mission with orders to kill all. When it is obvious that not all of the people in the compound are terrorists, he defies his orders and allows several to escape. Then the hunt to take down Steel begins.

The story is fast-paced with twists and turns that keeps the reader (moi) on our toes.

One interesting thing Saign does is provide the reader with the flora, fauna, birds and insects at most of the story's locations. It make you feel like you are there along with the character. Indeed, it's almost like you along side Steele as he treks through the jungle.

This truly an awesome and exciting book. You just keep wondering how Steele is going to survive all of the attempts on his life because of his actions in that mission.

First of a series featuring Jack Steel. Steel is a major in the army who is working for a covert military organization. The organization has been corrupted by the CEO or a large corporation. That CEO has in turn corrupted the president of the United States, the director of the CIA, and several army generals as well as other officers.

I thought the author overwrote this in several instances. Steel has his own demons (don't all protagonists these days). He's dealing with the loss of his daughter, the potential loss of his marriage and the loss of confidence in his ability to do his job. All of this winds around with several of the antagonists trying to eliminate him.

The author gives Steel spelunking skills which are manifested by the tunnel complex around his property, giving him several methods to move undetected. Reminded me of "Digger" by Joseph Flynn.

This was a great read and a wonderful start to a new series. No spoilers in this review, but you need to know that this a must-read, that gives stiff competition to any other better-known mystery/thriller authors. A fast-paced story that will keep you glued to the story, Jack Steele is my newest favorite character in a series! Well developed storyline, characters, action, and intrigue, get this and read it for yourself. You will find yourself, like me, anxiously awaiting the next installment. This is my honest, unsolicited opinion after receiving an advanced copy.

This book has everything: treason, betrayal, tragedy, family drama, clandestine government ops, a brooding hero, politics, drug cartels and so much more! It may sound like a bit much going on, but it actually blends quite nicely to make an awesome read!

I've already started Steel Trust because I HAVE to keep on this journey!

I received an ARC of this book from the author and I am thrilled to be able to give an honest review!

Jack Steel is a desperate loney soldiers whose daughter went missing a year ago, an event that broke him. Still he hasn't lost his conscience and refuses to kill civilians on a black ops operation to kill 'terrorists'. It turns out the operation really was for a different cause and his refusal brought him on a death list. But he isn't that easy to kill and fights back...

Everyone wants Jack Steel dead. Steel uses all his training in self-defense, weapons and hand-to-hand, to survive. Non-stop action all around the world as he fights off the U.S. government black op
assassins and big business killers. I was gifted this from the author.

Excellent! Well- drawn characters make a believable story. An indictment of leaders who have forgotten public service in the pursuit of self-service.

Non-stop action

Edge of your seat thriller. Quite a few competing bad guys all seem to be queuing up to threaten Jack Steel' s continued existence and that of the people he cares about. Somewhat beyond belief at times but if you are willing to suspend disbelief occasionally ( or perhaps fairly frequently) this is a fast-paced tale of black ops folk, which will keep you engaged. I will certainly be reading the sequel when I next feel the need to engage in pure escapism. Fans of Mark Dawson or Tim Tigner would probably enjoy this - though John Milton is a rather more believable character methinks.

This was one of the better books I have read in a while. I found this author and for the 1st book I have read it was fantastic. It had the kind of mystery and suspense that I really like in a story and with the character being very believable I followed along the entire time in the dark as far as the person behind all the intrigue was concerned. The author kept me in suspense and wrapped up in the tory he was putting before me and doing so with the mastery of the best of mystery authors. I recommend this book and author to all those that love mystery as much as I do, it's a thriller./

Nothing is as it looks

What a journey Jack Steel lead in his life. Lost his daughter but he never gave up on finding her, lost his wife of ten years, lost faith in his ability as a soldier blindly following orders, lost faith when the ultimate betrayal from a man he saw as a father figure. He reached bottom and from there he found the straight to fight back, to keep true to his values, to find love again, and the happiness to recover his daughter. What an ordeal! Violence, betrayal, honor, loyalty, greed, and love. Full of twists. You couldn't ask for more.

A lot of Mixed emotions.

There is action on every page. I don’t know what to make of Jack. He isn’t a super hero or spy. He gets out of problems of his on making, that in real life wouldn’t happen. All of the out comes is the author’s doing. He should have met his maker after the first few chapters. I believe I’m going to have to think about this character a little to see if it is worth reading the other books. Jack likes the smarts to pull off some of his caper’s. His mind isn’t clear enough to think puzzle the problems out.

None Stop Action
This book is the first in a series. Our main character is a highly skilled military man who is now doing black ops for a private company contracted to the government. The story takes us into the bowels of government corruption. The action is only broken up by suspense and intrigue. I found the violence to be more than I wanted to be exposed to. I read for entertainment and I don't find government corruption to be entertaining. This book will be enjoyed by many, just not me. It was well-written and well-plotted.

It's an overly lengthy book. I just skipped most of the parts and grasped the main plot. The story follows a special ops military officer, Jack Steel, who questions orders during a mission, leading to his boss getting hurt. His boss blames him (and he's right) and seeks revenge, sparking a conspiracy involving multiple people and unnecessary deaths.

There's a female spy sent to monitor Steel and there's another plot of Steel trying to find his missing daughter, both really didn't making much difference in the story. The excessive length and unnecessary details made it feel drawn out.

This was a great read and a wonderful start to a new series. Geoffrey Saign has a great new character, Jack Steel, who is former military special forces working for a US government black ops company. Unfortunately for Jack, the US government black ops company is “dirty”. No spoilers in this review, but you need to know that this a must-read, that gives stiff competition to any other better-known mystery/thrillers. Look forward to the next book in the series.

A good book that’s not for everyone.

There is a lot of visceral feelings, killings and horrendous torture in this book. Also white slavery and a lost daughter.

As if that wasn’t enough people are going out of their way to be downright unbelievably nasty to each other.

If love of fighting against the rich and powerful is what one needs to read than this series is for you.

I just finished this book. I found it in my Amazon Prime membership and read it on my tablet in Kindle. I found it to be very good. It was very exiting, it kept me reading, Jack Steel went thru a great deal and kept on going, never giving up even though he did/had lost daughter, his marriage, but........ In the end He was able to move on and find happiness once again.

Great action

I like a good swift action story. This one does it all. Hard to put down, hard to know whom to trust, and hits home in so many ways. We want to trust our government to protect us, but sometimes it's hard to believe that it does. Even though this is fiction, truth lies under the crust. Very exciting action and great ending.

Super cool!

Jack was sometimes too good for the jobs he did. But he couldn't t be anything other than what he was. All people make mistakes but Jack could not just blindly follow orders when it involves a kill order for an environmentally conscious monk. Who should he trust, and who should he eliminate? It' s complicated.

A real action thriller

First time I've read this author, had heard a lot about him, he didn't disappoint. A fast moving story,a little complicated at first, once you understand who the characters are, it's easier to follow . Lots of action and a couple of unforseen twists and turns. Great read!

Tried it on a whim

After struggling to get into other "typical" books this one started off great and i could tell it would be a different kind of action story. Not just any old " secret agent goes on a spree" story. The story was just complex enough while still driving home simple emotional and relatable scenarios. Time to read the next one.

How much can one person fight against? Political figures, malcontent spouse, kidnapped daughter. Jack Steel has a motto.”Stay calm, assess options, look for a solution.” I’m in awe of the way he controls his mind to control his body. I started this book and finished before I went to sleep. Optioned for a movie?, I’m not surprised, but how can they possibly do this thriller justice?

Jack Steel is caught up in a conspiracy to kill a presidential candidate in a South American election as well as assassination of an environmental activist. He doesn’t know who to trust, who is lying to him, who is trying to pin false accusations against him. His world is turned upside down trying to save these two men. ENJOY!
