After dealing with terrorist attacks and an EMP attack on America's infrastructure, Talon finally thought he was on his way home. But the tragic death of one of his team has the rest of the groups morale low and everyone is feeling sorry for themselves. The latest encounter with a terrorist cell has inadvertently bought Talon's group to the attention of the Iranian Supreme Command. Which in turn has declared war on Talon's group and ordered other Iranian assets to hunt down and destroy Talon's group. To make matters worse, Talon is talked into an ill-advised rescue attempt in a trade that should have assisted him in getting back to Texas. The obstacles are adding up against Talon, but he is determined that nothing will stop him from getting home to his family.
Growing up in the Ozarks, David spent a great deal of his time growing up with his Grandfather, learning how to fish, hunt, and trap. Joining the Marine Corps (0341) at the age of 17, he enjoyed his time in the grunts, but switched over to Counterintelligence after picking up Sergeant. Staying with the USMC for just over 20 years, he retired in 1998 at the age of 38, attaining the rank of CWO-2.
After retiring he has worked for a few different government agencies and as a contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan. Still active as a contractor, he enjoys writing in what spare time he can find, with his first published book coming out in May 2019, “Lone Star Odyssey-First Steps”. His second book in the series "Obstacles" came out in December 2019. Followed by the third in the series, Choices in 2022. Book four, Decisions, was released in August of 2023. Book five of the series should be released early spring of 2024.
Living in Texas with his wife and kids, most of his time outside of work is spent with his wife and kids, their horses and dogs, and with repairs around the ranch.
This is what happens when you make deals that you think might be good, only to have them turn sour on you. They make a rescue only to find out that other bad things have happened. Can he make it home in one piece? Another great book.
Really a good read, immersive, detailed, and overall one hell of a good series so far. I think my favorite part of book one was when he basically had his run of a bass pro shop. I could only imagine myself being like a kid in a candy store and being able to get what ever I thought I would need. By the way, thanks to the author for letting me know about the yo yo fishing systems and of course the hammock system that I now know I have to have. Added all those to my shared wish list on Amazon with the wife who still thinks I am crazy as ever. Having been a reluctant participant in the rock pile myself and facing some hard choices makes me appreciate the main characters moral dellima he constantly faces at every turn. Again, thanks for the great read and thank you for your service.
Great action and characters in a good plot. Can not wait for the next action. This is a lot like Dan Brown' s books. Realistic action and a touch of humor! Yes, it is war with all it's horror, but the good guys are winning against all odds.
Wilson's attention to detail, gear and tactics is what sets this book apart. Great story and development, cannot wait for the next instalment of this hopefully long series!
Book two reads like the first in the series and is well written and moves fast. Extremely difficult to put down and can't wait for the next book. I have read many books in this genre and I am very impressed. Bravo Zulu
An interesting, fast paced story. Could benefit from a little more editing. Believable characters and scenarios. I would recommend this series. Wish #3 would have come out in time.
I just wonder if the author is getting kickbacks from all the products he has advertised. Don't get me wrong, after he finally got geared up the story is fastpassed and if a bit unrealistic, still good. Yes I'll be waiting on the next one too.
The author has created characters you care about and cheer for. He's drawn a hard line between the good guys and the bad guys. I couldn't put down either book in the series and look forward to the next one.
Great series! I got lazy on book 1 (it was great too!).
An interesting story of a man trying to get home after the SHTF, and still keep his word to those he meet. The story gets tied up on all the equipment references, but I like it anyhow.
When Talon goes off to rescue Diane who is Jake and Maggie's daughter Beth decides that she is going to turn everyone against them and that Talon Is a criminal.
Not normally a post apocalyptic fan, but this series grabbed me. Not just a good read, educational as well, especially for someone who wants to be prepared... Next one ???
True to life. I believe the government would act like this. You know, one of the three great lies is "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you".
Lots of action and adventure. A little too much explanation of how things work such as how to start the ferry and the radio. Still I can’t wait for book three.
