Disappointing end to an ultimately disappointing series. From an interesting start in 'Sandstorm' the story devolves into a mishmash of 'Dune' and 'Jaws' but with neither the astonishing breadth of the former or the fearful anticipation of the latter.

More for pre-teens, these novels had a shortfall of interesting characters. If the story itself had any unique or intriguing features perhaps it could have overcome this deficit. Unfortunately, it just dribbles on in a lifeless and bland manner with nothing in the way of surprises (except for how unbelievably the characters behave).

Have enjoyed most of this author's previous works so am hoping this is just a temporary dip in quality!

The last book was the best of the series. It probably would have been a much better read as a whole if it had been 2 books shorter.

Well, this series turned out to be quite meh. I was looking for something different, and I got that, but boy was it a chore to get thrown these 4 short books.
I think I will be avoiding Piperbrook books from now on.

The last book in the Sandstorm series brought the colonist to a peacefull conclusion not without confrontation and some retribution for Neena and of course the monster. I couldn't be more pleased with the way the author imparted justice and then some for the colonist of Red Rock on some far off planet.

A fitting ending

Thankfully this series ended well. Where the main characters survived . I can picture an offshoot series about how Red Rock and New Canaan survive. Like this series immensely. Cheers

Very good

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. The characters are interesting. The leaders are power hungry and vicious. But Neena and her friends prevail against the odds.

I have the box set so will just say that this last book in the series was well done - plenty of action and sense of place.

A satisfying end.

An interesting end to the series. Always wonder why non-metric measurements are used in the "future".
