What an incredible read! This is a fast paced action book that is filled with suspense and a little bit of love as well. It is richly descriptive of the Hawaiian Islands and I felt as if I was in each an every location. I was in awe of the main protagonist, Sophie Ang. She is so strong willed and yet had a softness about her that she tried to hide behind her strength. She was extremely well developed and I felt as if I were a friend of hers. I wanted to hug her and scold her. She is very stubborn! The secondary characters are also well developed and you never knew what to expect from some of them. This book made me feel exhilarated and alive. Sophie also suffers from depression which I related to on a very personal level, as I have bouts of it myself. The story flow is off the charts and Toby Neal knows what she is doing. It had great flow from the first page till the last. The ending is a big twist and you may guess it , but maybe you won't. Who knows? This is a great book and I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Great job Toby! I was given a copy of this book from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

Toby Neal never disappoints, every book she writes is riveting and memorable in so many ways.
I love it when an author loves what she has created so much that it rolls on into new and wonderful stories. Lei Texeira started it all and now one of her best friends Sophie Ang has her very own series and it is just as thrilling as and the Lei Crimes stories.

Sophie is back in her second novel and life takes a new turn for Sophie but she is not sure it's the right one. Transition is never easy but Sophie has so many factors coming at her and there are pro's and cons to everything but then when she really thinks about things Sophie realises it's time for changes and sometimes things end.

Sophie is having a huge identity crisis but I know she will pull it together because that is just who she is no matter what crap comes flying at her Sophie wont just roll over she will fight with everything in her, I really love that about her.

I was really glad when Sophie decided to start therapy that showed a huge switch in her personal growth and I really love when Marcella wont take any crap from Sophie it's funny.

Sophie Ang is a young woman who worked for the FBI as an IT expert. When the Bureau tries to take away a crime fighting computer program she created, she resigns and starts working for a private security company, who just started on a case the FBI determined was merely a civil matter.
.
This is the second book in a series, but the first I have read. The character of Sophie is very well-developed, with all the strengths and weaknesses of any good protagonist. She may be a computer whiz and an amazing MMA fighter, but she is also an introvert who is dealing with clinical depression. Her backstory is engrossing, and make her a very sympathetic person the reader will enjoy rooting for. The story was an interesting one, and the tale flowed smoothly, with little in the way of wasted words. This book definitely has me wanting to read the first book, and then continue Sophie's saga.

Enjoyed every moment of the suspense in the islands. Some characters were crossovers from the "Lei Series," and it was enjoyable to reacquaint myself with old friends. Would highly recommend a rainy afternoon, and "Wired," or just about any time. Toby Neal does not disappoint, and I will anxiously await her next release, and another visit to Hawaii.

Wired Series

I've now read the 3 wired books by Toby Neal. I've also read most of the Lei Teixera novels. Ms. Neal breathes life into characters you won't easily forget. The mysteries hold your interest up to the last word written! These female characters are just what I was looking for in my mysteries. Kudos to Toby Neal!!!

I enjoyed Toby Neal's "Lei Crime" series, but I can't seem to connect with Sophie Ang in this one. I found this book to be too repetitive and reading over and over about her depression was well, depressing. I won't be continuing with the "Paradise Crime" series, but I will still always try other books by this author.

Sophie is fed up with the FBI and quits, angering her supervisor. She soon lands a job with a security company and her first assignment, along with new partner Jake, is to rescue some children from a cult. She wants the Oahu PD to investigate the cult, too, but they say they can't unless there is some really compelling evidence of wrongdoing. Sophie finds that evidence, gets seriously injured, and is drawn to a mystery man as the novel draws to an exciting conclusion.

I knew I’d love more of Sophie. I love more that Sophie’s story follows the same timeline as Lei’s story. And while the timeline is the same, the story isn’t repetitive.

I love reading series because you see such character development. Agent Ang does get injured during this novel but you watch her deal with the physical and emotional side effects of the injury. It’s an enjoyable series so far … headed to book 3!

Sophie's dilemmas

I love Sophie, she goes through a lot of changes, self analysis, and discoveries about herself in this book. It had me on the edge of my seat a few times. Sophie takes a new job, no longer an FBI agent , and meets lots of interesting people. I don' t want too say too much to spoil anything for the reader. All I can say is that Sophie will capture your heart.. With Toby's descriptive writing,, you are there in Hawaii, seeing and feeling everything Sophie goes through. She is one tough cookie. And there is love. Sophie saves two children from a cult and then goes back to find evidence of the murder of 3 women ( Sophie wants to save their children left at the cult's home with their father, the cult leader.) She also has difficulties with FBI, the Honolulu PD, and a love triangle. Can't wait for the next book! If you have not read book # 1 , please read that first, there too many spoilers in book # 2. And I think you need to see Sophie's growth and her discoveries to really enjoy both books.

No surprise here,as usual Toby Neal delivers

From beginning to end the twists and turns had me in suspense. When you thought it was going to turn out one way, you got turned in another direction. The ending was a complete but pleasant surprise. Now to the next book and more adventurous action.

I liked the early Lei Texiera books reasonably well so wanted to read and like this. But now we have yet another tortured soul (beautiful and sexy though) who can barely manage her own life yet seems to be what the FBI hires these days........ Could hardly finish it.

Sofie Ang

This very enjoyable addition to the series can be read without reading book one, which is what I did. I have read books from the Lei Crime series, however, which did help with context. Sofie is an FBI agent who has wanted to get out of the IT lab, so when given the opportunity for field reconnaissance at a cult compound she's been researching, she takes the assignment. But when she's told afterward there isn't enough evidence for the FBI to take the case, she has to make some hard decisions. And possibly for the first time, she begins to explore who she is down deep, and what it is she really wants.

I liked parts of the book, I read to escape reality and some bits were too real Sophie's fighting her depression was depressing and I didn't enjoy them, you could argue there not meant to be enjoyed but to if I read a book I want to enjoy it.
For a trained FBI agent she was pretty dense on the identity of the Ghost or maybe the reader was supposed to suss it out rapidly.
I don't get when a known murderer is on the island and would likely be after her why she would go wandering on the beach at night unarmed

I received an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review of this book.
Once again, Toby Neal invites us into her world to tell us a story. This is the continuation of the story of a woman, Sophie Ang, who has been torn apart and is putting herself together slowly. Sophie has been working for the FBI but realizes the relationship is not going to work for her any longer. She goes “rogue”, in the sense that she begins working for a security consulting firm. There are far fewer rules than with the FBI, everything feels fast and loose, and for a while, Sophie, who has spent her career in IT, feels lost. As she finds her footing, though, she begins to feel empowered.
Toby’s strengths as a writer come from her ability to draw three-dimensional characters whom the reader begins to know as well as any real person, from her ability to create a sense of place where the reader can see, hear, and smell the surroundings, and from her ability to weave a tight plot with believable twists and turns. The action never stops in this book, and I could not put it down.
In terms of character development, we learn much more about Sophie’s battle with depression, and her struggle to give and receive love. We are on a journey with Sophie as she learns who she is and what drives her. As she strives to save the children of an ex-cult member and solve the disappearances of several women in the cult, Sophie begins to see more clearly who she is. A serious accident gives her time to think about what will happen next in her life.
Wired Rogue is satisfyingly rich in detail. It’s a fast-paced wild ride with excellent plot twists. Although I had already guessed at the ending, and I won’t spoil it for you, it still felt good when Sophie solved a major mystery in her life.

Once again Toby Neal has written a book with so much character and charisma in her multi-dimensional protagonist, exotic Sophie Ang, you'll feel intimidated when she launches into explosive action in Wired Rogue. While book 2 of Paradise Crime series could be a standalone, you might want to read book 1 first to gain some insight and back story into Sophie's ongoing battle regarding DAVID with the FBI with whom she's worked tech for five years. First, the bomb is dropped that she actually quits the FBI and moves into the private sector with Security Solutions. What??! When her friend Lei Texiera did the same, I was shocked with the change of employment. But the carrot regarding children in a cult society secreted in the lush and secluded Waipio Valley of the Big Island is too much for Sophie to ignore keeping in mind her own extreme issues from her childhood. Severe bouts of depression are dealt with in a physical manner as Sophie continues to hone her MMA skills, which come in very handy when she finds herself in the field for the first time and out of her safe IT haven. The characters from Security Solutions are fleshed out as we get to know the dangerously handsome Jake Dunn, but it's the enigmatic "Ghost" that continues to capture our interest--and that of Sophie's. While the scintillating descriptions of beautiful Hawaii continue to feed our senses, it's the strong character-driven plot that keeps you on edge. Bravo, Toby. I was sent this book in exchange for an honest review. I'm looking forward to the next installment and know Ms. Neal's fans are as well.

Wired Rogue by Toby Neal is like combing a thriller from Brenda Novak and the Bourne Series onto one compelling read. The danger was intense. The operations were realistic and the characters were amazing. An unknown enemy sent shivers down my spine. This tale was centered on a cult that used children. I felt frustrated and sad. The bad characters were real dirt bags. I haven't read the previous novel before this one, but it was easy to follow. I understood what was happening and why. The main character, Sophie Ang, is super cool. She's the woman every man wants on his team. Her skills are frightening good, yet she still manages to get injured several times throughout the book. There are moments her partner, Jake Dunn, thought she would die on him. I almost thought so too. But somehow fate, let her survive. Sophie Ang is a leading protagonist that readers will admire. Despite her obstacles and the number of times she could have died, she keeps on working.

Toby Neal has brilliantly created a thriller suspense. One that I won't be forgetting. This story ends in a way that has me excited for what is to come. Sophia Ang and Jake Dunn have more work ahead...or at least I hope so. I have come to love these heroes. Wired Rogue is indeed a great title for this rough yet deadly plot. Fast-paced, mysterious, and a whole lot of action. Every page is thrilling to read. I couldn't stop once, I started it. Never a dull moment inside Wired Rogue. Overall, I highly recommend this powerful novel to all.

Another solid entry from Toby Neal.

This novel contains several upheavals in Sophie Ang’s life. Sometimes those types of changes can throw a story out of whack and turn the reader off. That didn’t happen here.

There was a big twist in a story arc carried over from the last book, but I suspected from early on what it would be (or Ms. Neal planted the clues so skillfully, I read them but didn’t pick up on them), so it wasn’t as big an ‘Oh, my God!’ moment as it might have been.

I’m a big fan of Ms. Neal’s Lei Texiera (Lei Crime) series, and these books starring Sophie Ang are just as good.

The second book in Toby’s Paradise Crime series featuring Sophie Ang has all the excitement and cliff hanging moments that one expects from her writing. Although this book can be read alone, it does help to have read the first in the series, as background to the characters and situations slot more clearly into focus.
Initially given a job by a mother to infiltrate a cult compound and retrieve her two children, Sophie is suddenly out from behind her computers and thrust into the fieldwork of the FBI. But frustrated by the outcome and the establishment trying to curtail a project which she has invested her knowledge into, Sophie decides to leave the safety and security of the FBI.
She ends up working for Security Solutions (see the first novel for the background). And the private company picks up the case on the cult. How does it pan out? I won’t spoil the surprises in store!
Toby has delivered another first-rate read. Sophie is fast becoming a character in her own right, not just a side character in the Lei Crime series. I can’t wait to read more of Sophie’s adventures.
I was gifted an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.

The second book in a great new series

(I received a free copy of this book for my honest review.) The character Sophie Ang has appeared in many of the Lei Crime Series books and now has her own series of which Wired Rogue is the second book. Toby Neal writes wonderfully strong, complicated female characters, characters you want to know better, characters who become your friends as you get to know them. This book is no exception. It is not a stand-alone book, you must read book one first. As with ALL of Neal's books, it is well written, has an intriguing storyline, and is enormously entertaining. It also doesn't hurt that her books are set in beautiful Hawaii. I highly recommend this book (read the first one first), but if you really want to treat yourself to hours of enjoyment, start with the Lei Crime Series first, then move on to the Paradise Crime Series. You will not be disappointed. I never am.
(P.S. I would have gladly bought this book if I hadn't received a free copy, and my review would have been the same!)

Sophie Ang is my newest hero! Forget Jason Bourne or even Sydney Rye, Sophie Ang is a woman to be feared in the tech world and on her feet. We first met Sophie is the Lei Crime series while she worked for the FBI, creating DAVID and solving crimes with her tech specialties. She has since branched out into her own series, first Wired In and now Wired Rogue. She has proven to be skilled with her hands and now we know she is one bada$$ operative. Many men have tried to woo her but her issues with her previous life weigh heavy on her heart. It appeared she had up to four men in this book alone that may have wanted more than friendship from her. Incredible! Ms. Ang is quite a woman but to do her story full justice I recommend reading the books in order to better understand her past and her connections to the people in her life. I was thrilled to get an advanced copy of this book and it was my pleasure to read and review it, voluntarily.

WIRED. ROGUE book 2 in the Paradise Crime Series. Another gripping story by Toby Neal. We have a cult, that is to be a peaceful one, but why is it guarded with firepower. Why are children doing manual labor. Mothers are missing. A woman comes and wants help to get her children out. Can Sophie who has been "wired in" with her computers and the office like cave. What can she do, she' s not use to being out in the field. Sophie had more ways than most to get things done. When a project that is dear to her, is taken from her, she leaves the FBI. Going as an independent consultant, things heat up. With the assignment and the people she now meets.
Another fast paced , emotion filled story, that you will love.
Looking forward to the 3rd one, and Sophie.

As always - Toby has done it again!

I would have to say that Sophie Ang is my favorite character from the "Lei Crime" series. In the Paradise Crime set of books (this is #2 of - so far - 2) she is more than "just a sidekick."

I love that she's moved from "behind the desk" to out in the field. Contains all the adventure, excitement, plot twists, intrigue, bullet dodging (& a little bit of love) that you can expect from a Neal novel.

As I mentioned, it's the 2nd book in the Paradise Crime Series. Though you don't need to read the first book, it will give you a better background into the character of Sophie.

If you have read any of the previous "Lei Crime" series books with Sophie in them, you know her a bit - Paradise Crime helps you delve deep into this interesting character.

Sophie Ang tech genius for the FBI, is back, in the private sector and she’s badder than ever. Still haunted by her last case- searching for the Ghost, trying to find her ex and now, a way to rescue innocent children from a cult in the jungles of Hawaii, she is in for the fight for her life on every level.
Having lost her badge, her safe haven, and her identity; Sophie has to recreate herself all while trying to solve her worst case yet. Toby Neal has brought life to an amazing cast of characters who are rich and deep. She makes us understand that sometimes to be the best, to get the job done, you can’t always go by the book; sometimes you have to go rogue. While this is one of several books in the Sophie Ang series, there is enough back story to get you up to speed but for the most fun, read them all.
