Salvage - A Shadow Files Novel
Former marine turned Private Investigator, Walter Reed, has been given yet another strange and amazing opportunity: to become an agent with the FBI’s NightShade division.
Though confident her training will make Quantico a cake walk—even with only one leg—Walter is discovering her shot at a new career has disaster written all over it.
Her first hurdle? Walter doesn’t graduate training if her new partner GJ Janson doesn’t graduate, too…
After previously being arrested by the FBI, GJ Janson hopes to redeem herself with the chance to become an agent. Unfortunately, her snooping around her grandfather’s laboratory reveals he’s been hiding strange skeletons—with strikingly similar anomalies to those she notices in her friend Donovan.
When a weekend visit to her grandfather’s lab yields a fresh body, GJ goes into investigation mode. But the body is that of a fellow NightShade agent, and Walter and GJ quickly realize that nothing in NightShade is what it seems—not the case, the other agents, nor even their job descriptions. Only one thing is clear: the killer is coming after them next. And they suspect it’s someone GJ knows.
Garden of Bone FBI Agent Eleri Eames was there the day her sister disappeared at eight years old. However, Eleri is the only one who knows that her sister is already dead and has been for quite some time.
When a skeleton is unearthed in New Orleans, Eleri is convinced it belongs to Emmaline. The age and ancestry of the remains are a match, and there’s something telling Eleri that New Orleans is the place where her sister lived and died.
As Eleri hunts for answers, demons—old and new—begin following her. The Lobomau have been entering the city in ever-increasing numbers, and that might just have something to do with the Dauphine sisters and their long family history of witchcraft and voodoo. Eleri desperately needs her partner Donovan on this case with her, but can he risk his own job to help her?
Eleri’s ancestry may have imbued her with some powers, but compared to her own great-grandmother and the Dauphines, she’s untrained and untested at best. When the bones turn out not to belong to her sister, Eleri has to ask how a case so similar to Emmaline’s even exists…and is it an arrow pointed to her own twisted family history?
The Camelot Gambit Can Eleri and Donovan outsmart a killer who leaves no evidence behind or even a discernable cause of death? How will they track down someone who is more intelligent than both of them together?
Curie, Nebraska was designed as a research haven for the ultra-intelligent. In fact, applicants must pass a rigorous IQ test before they can call the strange town home. Nearly every resident—including several child geniuses—is suspect and no one is safe.
Going undercover as the new neighbors leaves the agents struggling to find even the most basic clues. Eleri and Donovan can barely maintain their false identities against their overly-curious and stunningly intelligent new friends, let alone solve a murder.
Can they figure it out before the next body turns up? Or has the killer already found them…
If you love reading books with a supernatural bent that are well thought out with layered characters and a completely new perspective on a realistic world then buy this book NOW! I am so glad I came to this series late because there are over 10 books in it now - I'm afraid I'm going to have to start reading slower! You can read the basics about this series in any review. What makes this series so special and different is that the author herself is a scientist and that background allows her to bring a radically different perspective on this genre. The wonderfully imagined world that Scudiere has birthed is a completely rational one - mostly! Trust me - just BUY it!
This volume continues Eleri & Donovan through cases they investigate as agents with the Nightshade offshoot of the FBI. Each agent in this secret section so have special talents, very special talents, and their exceptional skills are utilised in each case. This is a superb series, the boundaries of every day beliefs, pushed just that little bit further, whilst you know it's fiction , there is that little inner voice telling you strange things do happen, could there possibly be......
I found this series by accident and tried a sample. I was hooked! I find it smart and interesting and not bogged down with any sultry scenes. Each character has a very interesting background and over time, you really want to know what they think and see what they do! Keep up the good work! I will be reading more as their story unfolds!
I bought the first book some time ago, then got sidetracked with another series. This past January i reread number one and immediately order the next three then. Five through seven. They are very well written but I do wish Me Scudiere would get a proof reader to catch typos and repeats as they detract.
I love this author and these books. The Nightshade characters are very entertaining and enjoyable to follow. The cases they solve are enlightening and you want to find the answers. Each book makes you want to continue to the next. I am always satisfied at the end. Werewolves and a witch, a great read.
These remarkable books will captivate you. The writing is excellent and the characters are compelling, fully fleshed out beings that you can actually envision! For good entertainment you can't go wrong reading the entire series!
Scudiere has done it again... Yep. I'm now a true fan of Eleri and Donovan! There is really nothing personally relatable about the characters, but I don't care. I fall into The Nightshade books and will continue as long as there is a new one to read!
This was a great series I enjoyed all seven book. Volume 1 and 2. The writing is excellent, great details into the concepts for the story. Very believable. Just read, you will not regret it
Good stories...and even though the inclusion of supernatural content is not my preferred genre, I keep buying the books. And want more. Book 7 needs some serious editing, but it doesn't spoil the read.
If you like your stories to have a bit of mystery, a it of realism, and a bit of the unusual, then this series is the one you want to read. I highly recommend it.
Really enjoy the books and the characters. Full of action and you really root for our favorite Nightshade FBI team. I love how the writer keeps the other characters involved in each book.
More in the NightShade series! I'm binging on the 9 books, so getting the combined volume was both a time saver and a cost saver. :) Way more world building in these "second volume" books. We finally get some more exposure to why NightShade is needed. I'm loving this series and the characters.
