Family…country…or the woman he loves…

Navy Seal Ford Marshall isn’t the kind to stand by and let a woman get hurt—especially when it involves his twin sister, RJ. So, when she makes the news, accused of sparking an international incident, he doesn’t care what it takes—he’s going to find her and bring her home.

But he might need a little help, so he calls on the woman who has had his back during the last three years—Petty Officer Scarlett Hathaway, former communications expert-turned Rescue Swimmer candidate. She’ll help him get into the country, watch his back, and…well, they might be able to have one last mission together before she leaves for a new life, a life he very much wants to be a part of now that she is off his team. Maybe he can convince her to give them a chance to kindle the spark that’s simmered between them for years.

Scarlett Hathaway isn’t sure what future she wants—not when she suddenly has to care for her little brother. Maybe she should quit the Navy and start a life with the man she can’t seem to get out of her heart. So yes, she’ll help Ford find his sister. And maybe, along the way, figure out if they have a future.

But finding RJ somewhere in the vastness of Russia with the FSB chasing them will push Scarlett beyond even her courage and make her question everything she thought she wanted…including Ford. What will it cost her to love a man who saves the world?

And when Ford is asked to choose between saving his sister, saving the world from a war, and rescuing the woman he loves…can he live with his decision?

I can't help be amazed at the gifts God has delighted me with - a wonderful husband, four amazing children, and the opportunity to write for Him.

I've been writing as long as I can remember - I won my first book writing contest in first grade! Over the years, writing has become, for me, a way to praise God and see Him at work in my life.

Although I have a degree in Mass Communications from the University of MN, my real writing experience started when I penned the The Warren Report - a bi-monthly newsletter that detailed our ministry highlights.

Living in Russia meant I never lacked for great material - and those experiences naturally spilled out first into devotionals and magazine articles and finally into my first published story, "Measure of a Man," in the Tyndale/HeartQuest, Chance Encounters of the Heart anthology.

Susan and husbandI grew up in Wayzata, a suburb of Minneapolis, and became an avid camper from an early age. My favorite fir-lined spot is the north shore of Minnesota - it's where I met my husband, honeymooned and dreamed of living. The north woods easily became the foundation for my first series, The Deep Haven series.based on a little tourist town along the shores of Lake Superior. I have to admit - I'm terribly jealous of Mona, the heroine of my first full-length book, Happily Ever After, a Christy Award Finalist published in 2004 with Tyndale/Heartquest.

Our family moved home from the mission field in June 2004 -- and now we live in the beautiful town I'd always dreamed of! God has amazed me anew with His provision, and blessings -- and allowed me a season when I can write full time for Him.

I 'm delighted you've stopped in to visit. My hope is that you'll be blessed and encouraged by soul-stirring stories of regular people interacting with a God who loves them.

I'd love to hear from you! I love getting mail, especially from readers and I welcome your questions and comments. Write to me at susan@susanmaywarren.com. This series just keeps getting better!!! Ford is a complex character and I appreciated seeing more layers of his personality, strengths, and struggles revealed as he undertakes a personal mission to rescue his twin sister in Russia. We got to know the dynamic between him and Scarlett in the previous book, Tate, so I recommend reading the series in order for full enjoyment and understanding. They have amazing chemistry that just increases in this book. I love how they support each other and bring out the emotion in each other. They both have some internal issues to work out and as they develop their faith in God they grow closer together. The plot is non-stop and full of action and suspense as many factors come together and the characters barely stay one step ahead of the danger. A total nail-biter and I'm so excited for the next book, Wyatt!

“For a second she saw the brother she’d known better than herself. Proud, strong, faithful, determined, and yes, just reckless enough to save them all.”

Ford, the highly anticipated third novel in award-winning author Susan May Warren’s Montana Marshalls series, is a must-read for fans of adrenaline-filled, action-packed, swoon-worthy contemporary romance. The Montana Marshalls series has the perfect blend of romance, action, and of course, those handsome Marshall family cowboys!

It is highly recommended that the Montana Marshalls series be read in order, since there is an overall story arc that follows throughout the entire series. Readers will miss much of the backstory if they have not read the previous books in the series first.

The novel, Ford, continues the storyline from the previous book in the series, Tate, as younger sister Ruby Jane (RJ) Marshall is the prime suspect in an assassination attempt on Russian General Boris Stanislov and finds herself on the run and in the fight for her life. While growing up with four older “superstar” brothers, Ford felt like he was never capable enough in his father’s eyes. After much strength and perseverance, Ford is now a Navy SEAL and will do anything to protect his twin sister. With the help of his teammate, Petty Officer Scarlett Hathaway, who is dealing with her own personal turmoil, they embark on a dangerous mission to Russia to bring RJ home.

“And then, in his kiss, he promised her his heart.”

In the midst of intense action and danger, Susan May Warren seamlessly weaves romance into the story and leaves readers with their hearts swooning and adrenaline racing at the same time. With his strong faith, his role as a protector, and his great love for his family, Ford easily finds a place in Scarlett’s heart, even as she questions God’s role in her own life. Susan May Warren shares the powerful message of God’s love and His constant presence in our lives even when we feel alone or undeserving.

“Out of all of them, Wyatt led with his heart. It made him a personality on the team, charming, a magnet for the women…and sometimes reckless.”

The unresolved storyline at the end of the novel incorporates the overall story arc from the entire series into the next book, Wyatt, which releases in October 2019. Ever since reading the first book in the series, Tate has always been my favorite Marshall brother, and the cover for his story is my favorite in the series. Tate, a former Army Ranger turned bodyguard, is definitely a bit reckless and trouble always has a way of finding him, but he has such an amazing heart. When he falls in love, he falls hard and will do anything to protect the woman he loves. However, after getting to know Wyatt a little more in this novel, I think he is definitely going to give Tate some competition as my favorite Marshall brother.

The Marshall brothers (Reuben, Knox, Tate, Ford, and Wyatt) each have their own unique personalities that readers will fall in love with, but they all have a protective side to them, especially toward their family and the women they love. Readers will have fun trying to pick a favorite Marshall brother or just loving them all equally instead! You can’t go wrong with any of these brothers!

Ford is highly recommended for fans who enjoy action-packed contemporary romance. If you have not had a chance to read the Montana Marshalls series yet, you need to start reading Knox, Tate, and Ford right away. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!

Susan May Warren has a unique formula for her books. You have your main couple; in this book they are Marshall brother Ford and Scarlett. They will get their HEA after a lot of trials and travails. You also have a secondary couple, Marshall sister RJ and York here. RJ and York get a lot of page space, but no HEA in this book. Ford and Scarlett have been dancing around each other for a couple of prior books and got really close in the last book, only to be pulled apart. We also get introduced to Marshall brother Wyatt's love, Coco who has an amazing backstory. There is an abundance of things going on in this book and the action and suspense is top notch and fast moving. What sets Susan May Warren apart from other authors who write clean or Christian Romance is that she is a fantastic writer who can craft a wonderful Romantic-Suspense plot with lots of action, family and romance.

Ford Marshall comes from a perfect family. Five brothers and one sister, all high achievers, not a dud in the bunch. But as perfect as this family is everyone has a crisis or two in their lives and Ford has had his which just makes him who he is. He is a SEAL with a strong commitment to God, his family and his team. One member of his team in particular, communications expert Scarlett Hathaway. When his sister, RJ, goes missing in Russia Ford is determined to find her. He needs backup and calls Scarlett, even though their relationship has been strained since she left to team to become a Rescue Swimmer.

Scarlett Hathaway had it rough growing up. There was nothing perfect about it, at all. At eighteen she joined the Navy and never looked back until her mother died and left her seven-year-old half-brother. Her goal was to be the best she could possibly be, but her dream of being a Rescue Swimmer smacked up against the reality of being the only living relative for her half-brother. She can't be a Rescue Swimmer and full-time caregiver for a little boy. She has a big decision to make and when Ford calls her, she goes with him hoping to find some answers both to her and Ford's relationship and what to do with her career.

The Russin FSB, Bratva, assassins and their feelings are just a few of the things Ford and Scarlet face as the traverse Russia looking for RJ. With their lives on the line and nothing guaranteed, they both face who they are, what they want most and that God can indeed give them the desires of their hearts.

Ford is the third book in the Montana Marshalls series. After reading the previous two books I was eager to continue the series with Ford. While this book was different than the first two, it was still very good.

I loved getting to read more about Ford. The little tease we got of his story in Tate made me excited to read more and see how it went. I felt for the heroine right away...to have things go the way they did for her was...heartbreaking at times.

All in all, Ford was a very good read. I don't think it is my favorite of the series, but it was still good.

Oooooh. I think this might be my favorite of this series so far. That is saying something because I loved Knox and Tate! But Ford. . . Ford was, wow! Intense, fast paced, full of danger, growing attraction and yummy kiss scenes. Yup, I had a hard time putting this one down. Maybe part of my extra love for this one was because I actually got TWO love stories in one. RJ (Ruby) has her own story going in this book running parallel to Ford's as he tries to find her. In Russia. They eventually intersect but until then we have RJ and York, which was also so, so good.

The hardest part about this book is reaching the end and now I have to wait for the next book to see how things play out. I hate waiting. I'm feeling almost desperate but in the most amazing way. I can't wait to read Wyatt!!

You really need to read this series in order. If you haven't started it yet, you are in for a treat!

Content: peril, violence, death. Kissing. Christian fiction.

I was so excited to dive into Ford's story! I love these characters and the family dynamic makes the series all the more intriguing to me. Warren never disappoints on the suspense front; this book is jam-packed with crazy intense action that leaves you on the edge of your seat. From page one, I did not want to put this down! The romance was a bit heated for my tastes, and I found myself skimming several scenes. For that reason, I docked a star and a half.

Overall though, I enjoyed this addition to the Montana Marshalls series!

'Ford, you seem to think it's your job to save everyone. When did God step off the throne and put you in charge? The last time I looked, you were not the Savior of the world.'

The highly anticipated next novel in Susan May Warren's 'Montana Marshalls' series is Ford and it does not disappoint! If you thought Knox and Tate were good, wait till you get a gander at Ford! Hang on tight, because Ford will blow you right out of the water. This is one of Warren's most powerful books, in my opinion. It fills your heart up and still keeps flowing over the top.

'If Ford didn't get his head in the game, they were doomed. People were going to die. Probably him.'

Ford's twin sister, RJ, had just made the international news when she is accused of causing an international incident. Ford doesn't stop to think too much before heading out, except to take Petty Officer Scarlett Hathaway, his former communications expert, with him. Scarlett can watch his back and well, he does have feelings for her. Scarlett has just had some serious issues of her own back home, but she has two week's leave from the Navy and she likes Ford, so she agrees to go. But how in the world are they going to find RJ in the middle of Russia, especially with the FSB dogging their every move?

Warren carries the reader along on a wave of excitement in a dangerous and unfamiliar setting, where even her descriptions of the settings grab your attention. Ford is a protector, a rescuer, but sometimes he needs to step back and view things from a different perspective. Warren communicates this very well indeed. These Marshalls! Swoon worthy heroes, romance to beat the band and a spiritual theme that just won't let go of your heart. Those themes never fail to touch my heart. I feel as if I've just gone to church when I read a Susan May Warren book. They are such a blessing with deep emotional truths in them to not only entertain as a powerful read but to built your spiritual walk as well.

Again, these Marshall men are the best romantic heroes ever! One is a total cowboy, one a former Ranger, one a Navy SEAL and one a powerful hockey player. All with great personalities and hearts for staying true to the one they love, protecting them with all their might. We meet Wyatt in this one and I am so stoked to read his story next! I very highly recommend Susan May Warren's books. They hold pride of place on my shelves.

Ford is an extemely intense, action-packed thrill ride! This is the third book in the series, and I would definitely recommend reading these books in order so that you understand the overarching threat that is building throughout the series. As with the previous two novels, Ford contains both a main and a side story. Ford and Scarlett mount a rescue attempt for Ford’s twin sister, Ruby Jane. However, Ruby Jane (RJ) has her own story that begins developing in this book, as well. I really enjoyed the interaction between Ruby Jane and York.

Occasionally RJ and Scarlett made some choices that I was frustrated with them about, putting them into even more danger than they were already in, however, it made for some exciting rescue attempts. The developing love stories between both of the pairs of main characters were just perfect and added some wonderful emotions to the story. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series now!

"He used to say that he didn't show up where God hadn't gone first. That he didn't worry about fixing anything - that God already had it figured out. He was just following orders."

Oh, my. How does Susan May Warren's books get better and better as the series unfolds? Wait... did I say this about Tate after reading it?!?!
Well, somehow the series does keep getting better and this book 3 in The Montana Marshalls series will totally wrap itself around your heart and mind, even after having loved and cherished Knox and Tate. I was not expecting an adrenaline-filled, action-packed, complex international suspense thriller when I picked up Ford (though I knew it would take place mostly in Russia) and was absolutely delighted as the plot picked up pace and rolled at bullet-train speed. As always, the writing is clever and emotional with great dialogue and banter, the characters are beautifully flawed and intensely lovable, the romance is totally swoony (and we get quite a few couples in the book by this point in the series), and the faith element is spot-on.

Ford, our Navy SEAL hero, traverses the world to find his twin sister who's been framed as an assassin in Russia. He's got a haunting demon from the past that drives his reckless and impulsive need to prove himself and he prefers to be the lone wolf, depending on his skills and strengths. Scarlett is his teammate whose terribly broken past prevents her from really loving and being loved....and tragedies of the present suffocate her even more. Despite their brokenness, Ford and Scarlett combine their bravery, strength, resourcefulness, and intelligence to find his sister RJ in the vast Russian underworld. Add to this great plot RJ's flight and romance through Russia with a mysterious protector named York and a little taste of Wyatt, and the book will have your heart pounding from the spectrum of emotions and head spinning from the intricate threads in the overarching plot coming together. And the plot twists! There are enough of those to cause a twister throughout the story. And through so many near-death incidents, Ford realizes God's power and gives Him the glory and control as Scarlett slowly de-ices her heart to hear God's calling.

And now it's "hurry up and wait" time for Wyatt (book 4) and Ruby Jane (book 5) to release! Oh, the anticipation!!

“Brace yourself. Because you’re about to get in over your head.”

Oh my goodness...this is so much more than a cowboy book if that’s what you are thinking! Ford takes us from the US to overseas, SEAL team ops, to covert ops in Russia! It continues the search for who is trying to amp up Cold War relations between the USA and Russia. However, this time Ruby Jane Marshall is pulled into the mix when a trip to Russia pins her as an assassin. Ford can’t stop himself from going to her rescue, but even with his SEAL team experience he’s in over his head in Russia. Now he must choose between the woman he’s falling for and his twin sister, RJ. And, who is this guy York who’s helping his sis?!!

“And then, in his kiss, he promised her his heart.”

The kissing...y’all it’s so over the top in this book! Which, I loved! You might need a tall glass of ice tea for reading. Actually, better add a whole pitcher with extra ice! Yeah, it’s that good!

RJ goes to Russia as a CIA analyst when intel comes in that there may be an assassination attempt and can’t reach her boss. She never dreams she’d be the one running from the FSB. As the mysterious York steps into rescue her, is he friend or foe? I love her story, it’s like a flipped Jack Ryan or Sydney Bristow as York likes to call her. You just have to read it, you’ll love her!

“We always think of God as our reinforcement…but He’s our breacher. He’s the first one through the door.”

“’Trust in the Lord—he is our help and shield.’ Psalm 115. David knew that the only way to victory was to let God lead him into battle and watch his flank and shield him when he was in over his head.”

I loved these quotes. Ford is a protector at heart. That’s what makes him a great Navy SEAL. Ford’s story just stole my heart. How he thinks he can do it on his own, but really needs others. His struggles to measure up to his brothers and to not let anyone down were so heartfelt. His love for Scarlet and his sister were woven so well around his relationship with God. I loved seeing him transform from lone wolf to trusting God and others more. Warren does an amazing job tying in the spiritual struggles of all her characters and seeing how God is wooing them.

I’m so in love with this series and Ford knocked the other books of the series out of the park. I loved Susan May Warren’s Mission: Russia series from years ago, so taking us back to Russia just made my day! Seriously, if you love action, adventure, romance, and seeing how family comes together, you’ll love this series! And...Ford is well, just run don’t walk to get this book, because Wyatt is next and it’s going to be phenomenal!

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher and JustRead Tours. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I also, bought the book, because I loved it that much!

An intense rescue mission

Ford's poor choice when he was twelve haunted him his entire life. Drove him to reckless actions and had him isolating himself.

This fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat story has Ford dashing around the world in an attempt to rescue his twin sister, RJ. As he and Scarlett find themselves deep in Russia with fake passports and without the sanction of their SEAL team, they fight to save RJ and to get out of the country alive.

RJ wasn't at all what I was expecting. With the hints in previous stories of her involvement with the CIA, I figured she was an agent, out daily subjecting herself to numerous risks and perils. When the truth is revealed, it is clear that her situation is even more precarious than I imagined. I fell in love with this plucky woman who pushed herself beyond her limits time and time again simply because she had to!

I love the way Susan May Warren has crafted this series where each book seems to entangle the Marshall brothers more deeply into something much bigger than anyone had imagined (particularly me!) As more pieces come together, the individual stories are clearly a part of a much larger puzzle. I can't wait to see what the big picture will turn out to be!

High suspense, powerful romance, and deep spiritual truths fill the pages of this fascinating story. Be sure to read Knox and Tate first, though, and be prepared for Wyatt and Ruby Jane's stories to conclude the fascinating Montana Marshalls series in coming months.

I am enjoying this series of the adventures of five brothers, one sister, and a foster sister from Russia. In Ford's story, we go to Russia where RJ (Ruby Jane) has disappeared after making worldwide news where it appeared that she had shot a Russian general. RJ is a CIA analyst, not an agent or operator. Her twin Ford along with his friend/teammate Scarlett and a SAR friend of a friend, Hamilton Jones, head to Russia to find her. Scarlett is his voice in his ear during SEAL missions in the Navy but really more. RJ has been grabbed by a former Special Ops guy working in Russia. He has her in a safe house until they are found. This is a crazy time as RJ and her rescuer fight to get her out of country while Ford and company try to find them. What a time they have! As all Susan May Warren books, expect suspense, danger, personal obstacles to overcome, romance, all with a thread of faith woven through leaving you thinking about it long after finishing the novel. Another great story to add to the Montana Marshalls.

It wasn’t bad. It wasn’t good either. I can forgive realism. Sometimes I need something fake to get lost in. But as soon as it started I was rolling my eyes. Social services would most definitely How traumatic. Then we have the whole Russia twin sister thing going on. With an over the top crazy person. In the book’s defense this is book 3 and I didn’t read book 1 or 2. But honestly, it was beyond difficult to see Ford and Scarlett as a couple. I don’t buy that love since childhood crap they were trying to convince me about. It was also extremely boring.

Seriously, I don't know how Ms. Warren does it. She is incredibly gifted at writing edge-of-your-seat tension, both romantically and otherwise! I was pulled into this story pretty much from the first page and then was only further hooked as I got to know RJ better. Because I have to admit that I came for Ford and Scarlett, but I stayed for RJ and York. (And now I have to wait so long for their story! Humph. ;)

Let's begin with the fact that most of this book takes place in Russia. What a harsh and fascinating landscape to have as a backdrop. The uncertainty and fierceness felt by our characters is only enhanced by this country. I confess that I really want to visit just to experience it for myself! :) Ms. Warren's descriptions of the area create an atmospheric-feel to the story. All the (practically) non-stop action is fueled on by this feeling, which means I spent most my time anxiously turning each page, wondering what was on the horizon.

Then there are the characters. Watching Ford be confronted with so much of what he fears and how those who love him and know him so well help move him into growth and courageous-living (as if he wasn't already courageous! But he did need a little more of a push in a certain direction...) is wonderful to witness. Scarlett has some growth and courage to learn as well. These two are one of those couples that understand and fit each other so perfectly. Enough so they can also preach some good truth to one another when needed. And then there's RJ...and York. Oh my heart, I was utterly captivated by those two! *happy sigh* They face a scary situation, yet each has a fierce determination that captures the other's notice. There's simply something so vivid and pivotal between them. I cannot wait to find out more of their story.

The plot turns and twists all over the place and you never know just where you'll end up next. There is really such a great lot of things all going on at once and somehow Ms. Warren pulls all the threads just so, perfectly timed, and the picture becomes a whole lot clearer. With still a lot of threads yet to be pulled! So yes. I am now officially onboard the Montana Marshalls train and will (sort of) happily wait for more! (It's a good thing there are two previous stories to help me through the waiting period....)

Ford continues Susan May Warren's excellent Montana Marshalls series. As the youngest Marshall brother, Ford has always felt the need to prove his worth, which led him to become a Navy SEAL. When his twin sister Ruby Jane (RJ) becomes the prime suspect in the assassination attempt of a Russian diplomat, Ford enlists his former teammate (and current love interest) Scarlett, and they head to Russia to find RJ.

A CIA analyst, RJ gets herself tangled up in an assassination plot and ends up on most wanted lists worldwide. York, a mysterious security specialist, swoops in to help get her out of Russia, and the two quickly fall for each other. As they try to escape, they come face to face with someone from RJ's past who has secrets of her own.

Once again, Warren has written a book with two love stories—Ford and Scarlett's story continues from Tate, and RJ and York's story begins. (Plus, there's Wyatt, whose love story is just hinted at but will get top billing in the next book, Wyatt.) I don't always like books with more than one love story, but Warren's "two for the price of one" romances never disappoint!

As for the non-romance part of the story, the plot is rather intricate and convoluted, but when you read it, it works. In fact, I enjoyed this particular story far more than the stories in Knox and Tate (and I liked those books very much). Ford marks the halfway point of this five-book series, and it's while reading it that I realized everything regarding the bombings in the first two books would carry through the series. (Perhaps I should've picked up on this sooner 😂.) Ford has a completely different feel from the first two books—maybe because of the setting and the involvement of the CIA and the FSB, the stakes just seem higher. I felt like the suspense aspect was amped up in Ford while still keeping all of the romance, and the result is a really good book!

Yes, you should read Knox and Tate first (though if you're going to jump in partway through the series, Ford would be a good place to do it), but the series is so good that you'll want to start from the beginning, anyway!

FORD is a thrilling ride of danger, subterfuge, and romance with inspirational elements weaved throughout. Fans of the series and genre will love this one!

I felt like the first two books in this series, Knox and Tate, had plenty of suspense but compared to Ford were tame. Ford just racks it all up a notch, both in the danger and suspense elements but also in the romance department. Lots and lots of chemistry, swoon-worthy moments that had plenty of heat without going over the line. The action pretty much kept me riveted in this story and I loved every tough minute.

I've really fallen for these Marshalls (all five boys and the one girl) and their drive to protect and succeed at whatever they set their mind to, even if they don't always think before they act. I loved Scarlett and Ford from Tate's story and so I was really looking forward to finding out what was next for them. Half of the story focuses on them while the other half starts RJ's story, which I'm curious about her love interest's future as well.

In the end, was it what I wished for? Full of action, adventure, danger, and romance that will keep readers entertained. At the same time there are quiet moments in this book where the characters face their own internal battles as well as deciding if they will trust in God. Definitely worth the read!

Eeep! *swoons over Ford*
If only it was possible for me to give this book more than 5 stars! I have been loving the Montana Marshalls series, and having already met youngest brother Ford (and fallen head over heels in love with him!) in the previous book, Tate I have been eagerly anticipating Ford and Scarlett's story, and wow did it surpass all my expectations! I loved the first two books, but Ford is by far my favorite book of the series so far! This book was everything I dreamed it would be and so much more!
In my opinion Ford is Susan May Warren's best book yet! I absolutely adored everything about this book, and I couldn't stop reading! There's so much more I want to say about this amazing book, but I don't want to risk giving anything away so I will just say that this book kept me enthralled from beginning to end! I was totally and completely spellbound by this story, and I absolutely loved every moment I spent reading it! This whole series so far is incredible and I highly HIGHLY recommend it. The books in the series can standalone if necessary, but trust me, you're not going to want to miss a moment of this fabulous series! I am dying to read Wyatt and see what happens next in the Marshall family saga!

I received an ebook copy of this book from the publisher which did not influence my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own.

Only one word to describe this unputdownable read and that is, WOW! This is my first Susan Mary Warren book and I am a fan! Ford is the third installation of the Montana Marshall Series. Though this is my first read of the series, I would have to say that it worked for me as a stand alone and I definitely will be picking up the other books as I cannot get enough of the Marshall family.

Ford Marshall, a Navy Seal, is on a mission to save his twin sister Ruby Jane "RJ", a CIA analyst who has gotten herself mixed up in an assassination plot in Russia. Petty Officer Scarlett Hathaway's mother has just passed away and with feelings of abandonment and disappointment she leaves her position as Fords' communication guide for the past three years, to become a Rescue Swimmer. Ford calls on Scarlett for one last rescue mission to Russia.

The story from beginning to end is a page turner full of action, adventure, and of course Romance while also intertwining the importance of Faith and Trust in God. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend this series, the author and this amazing book!

Thank you to Justread Tours for the copy of the book for my honest and objective review of this book.

Forget my usual edge-of-your seat descriptors 'cause you won't be sitting down for this action-packed, swoon-a-licious read. If you're like me, you'll be collapsed on your fainting couch or breathing into a paper bag...or both at the same time!

Once again Susan May Warren has bound me up in her story telling spell and I'm not quite ready to shake my way free from the delicious bibliophile afterglow. And, hooray me, I still have two Marshall novels to read so I don't have to say goodbye to this wild and crazy clan just yet.

I love the way the author gives some quality page time to RJ and York, setting the stage for the next book...well the book after the next book because Warren likes to make her readers suffer through agonies of anticipation. In fact, she likes to make her characters suffer just as much, and, mercy but Ford and Scarlett have to work through a lot before they can look forward to a happily ever after!

High stakes espionage. Complicated layers of deceit to work through. Intense danger at every turn. It's the kind of plot stuff that keeps a reader glued to the page. Especially when it's broken up by intensely sweet moments of toe-curling romance. Happy sigh.

And God bless Susan May Warren for her audacious penchant for weaving a strong faith thread into every story. In Ford, Scarlett struggles with finding God in all the hard places. In fact, she's been waiting for Him to show up her whole life without realizing He has been leading the way all along. Moving and inspiring -- just the kind of message I need to remember as I stumble on the rocky path of my own faith walk.

Another Epic Warren Read!

Ford by Susan May Warren is a thrilling contemporary Christian suspense that will have your heart racing as you follow the action. It is the third book in the Montana Marshalls series but can be read as a stand-alone. I however enjoyed catching up with familiar faces.
Once again the Marshall brothers continue to fight against corruption and rescue others. Their motto of no one being left behind continues. There is the theme of trust as characters find themselves stranded in Russia. Can the law enforcement agencies be trusted? Who exactly is telling the truth? As life seems to be unsure we need to know the One who always has our back. “Life is… unpredictable… But with God at the helm, it wasn’t out of control.” No matter how crazy life seems, nothing surprises God. He sees our end from our beginning.
There are characters who have never felt ‘good enough’, continually working for a parent’s approval. The good news is that our Father God loves us. We never have to work for His approval because we already have it. Sometimes we believe that we have petitioned God enough, now we need to go it alone. “God had already answered enough prayers, so maybe [he] had to handle this on his own.” God never gets tired or worn out. We are never alone even if we feel like it. Our feelings are not markers of God’s presence. Our feelings are unreliable gauges.
If we seek God, He will be found. Sometimes we do not see Him because we are not looking. “God abandoned me a long, long time ago.” God abandons no one. As with the Marshall brothers’ motto, He leaves no one behind. “What about the places God does not go?” There are no places that God does not go. To quote Corrie ten Boom “ There is no pit so deep that God’s love is not deeper still.”
We are called to do life in partnership with God. “When did God step off the throne and put you in charge?” Sometimes we try to fix things in our own strength and we pick up burdens that are not ours to carry. We need to seek God in prayer at all times and in all situations. Watch God do amazing things when we call to Him in prayer.
People will always let us down. Sometimes we build walls to keep the world out. These walls have the opposite effect, they imprison us. It is time to break those walls down.
Family is important. Sibling bonds are strong. Sometimes we think our loved ones think badly of us. Do not assume the worse. Without asking, we never know what others are thinking.
I am really enjoying this Montana Marshalls series. I cannot wait for Wyatt book four to see where life will take him.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

OH, I WANT TO PUT MORE THAN 5 STARS!
I think I’ve said this before, but with this latest book by Susan May Warren, it really needs to be said again. WOW oh WOW!
I wonder if I was ever a character in one of Susan May Warren’s books I might not survive. Her characters all go through so much, yet, they come out at the end of the story having learned so much. The cool thing is, as a reader, so do we!
The lessons each of her characters learn are lessons we can all understand and learn to apply to our lives too. I have found, anytime I pick up a book written by Susan May Warren I will receive many life lessons. She has a beautiful way of speaking truth to our souls through her words. That we have a God who is bigger than we can ever imagine, and He is there. He is our rescuer. He will not leave us, because He loves us. Not because we earn it or deserve it, but because we are His and that’s enough.
One of the issues the characters in this book are dealing with is the desire to belong. Whether it’s in a family, or what they do as work. They seem to struggle with their purpose and place in life. Then life throws them in a tailspin when they try to make it all right.
Ford Marshall is from a big family where there is constant competition to “one-up” the members. He’s never felt he made the mark, even though he’s a Navy SEAL.
Scarlett Hathaway has lived her whole life trying to just survive, now her mother dies and she needs to care for her little brother. She really doesn’t know what her future will be.
These two find themselves on a mission to save Ford’s twin sister who happens to be in Russia.
In this story, there is non-stop action, romance, drama, running for their lives, kidnapping attempts, shootings, Oh! And the part I really couldn’t survive is the water. I feel so sorry for these characters and what the author puts them through. She does it all in a way which will keep you stuck to your chair, not wanting to put the book down!
I am totally enjoying getting to know this whole Marshall family. I wish I could meet this very larger than life family from Montana. I think I’d love to have them as friends.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I'm at a loss to have words eloquent enough to convey the depth of emotions and feelings I get each time I pick up one of Susan May Warrens' books.
Whatever Ms. Warren writes I'll read because I know I'll be captivated and blessed in a way that is life-changing.
I was given this book by the publisher which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Yowser! This series is turning out to have everything a romantic suspense lover could ask for. With Susan May Warren, great romance and high-stakes suspense are a given, but there’s action, espionage, politics, world travel—you name it, you’ll probably find it in this series. And there are two books left to go!

You’ll definitely want to read this series in order, because Ford and Scarlett’s story starts in the previous book, Tate. As a result, I was totally primed and eager for more Ford and Scarlett as I began this book, but then York walked onto the page. Well, walked is probably a pretty tame description, but HELLO! And from that moment on, I couldn’t get enough of RJ and York! I mean, it was clear from their first scene together how well these two were going to play off one another:

“So, are you gonna club me with Dostoyevsky?”
Oh. “Maybe.”
“I would have gone with Tolstoy, personally.”

But back to Ford and Scarlett. Not only did I love the romance, suspense, and all that other stuff, but I really enjoyed Ford and Scarlett’s personal growth through the story. Ford has lived his life continually trying to prove he’s enough, that he can get the job done, but needs to learn that God isn’t our reinforcement; He’s our breacher. And Scarlett has never felt like she’s enough, is used to feeling discarded and wonders what it would feel like “to be wanted just for whatever was inside.”

All these elements combined seamlessly into one fantastic, completely absorbing read. Thank goodness we don’t have long to wait for books #4 and #5!

Susan May Warren has such a talent for balancing romance, intrigue, and spiritual nuggets in her stories. Ford is another installment in that category. Ford struggles with feeling like he has to rescue, to, in a way, control the outcome of a situation; he puts himself in the position of savior. But what happens when things keep going wrong?

I highlighted some deep Biblical truths that were presented as wise advice, questions, and internal conversations with God to apply to my own life. My favorite is the idea that God is not our back-up, He is who makes the way in front of us and we are his back-up. It was a timely reminded.

I appreciate Scarlett's questions that stem out of her difficult upbringing; they're questions I've asked and and many others through the centuries. Susie doesn't shy away from those questions, nor does she gloss over them, but show's how God can overcome those situations.

All that faith is wrapped up in a page turning story with two pairs racing the clock across Russia. It was fun (Ford would NOT agree with me) watching Ford, a navy seal so prepared for every situation, be so far outside of his element.

I also enjoyed getting to see the perspectives of 4 characters as we also have RJ's and York's story.

I can't wait to see how Coco and Wyatt's and RJ and York's story concludes as well.

Oh! And don't forget to read the author's note at the back. It's a good one!

I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are honestly my own!

"Who do you depend on?"

That's a question Ford Marshall will ultimately have to answer if he is ever going to allow his fondness for a certain Petty Officer to grow roots. Navy Seals are known for their survival instincts, and since Ford is determined to rescue his sister while renewing his relationship with Scarlett Hathaway, his lone wolf tendencies may need to undergo some serious tweaking; after all, Russian assassins play for keeps.

C.I.A. specialist Ruby Jane Marshall is in deep trouble; her face is plastered all over television screens world-wide, as an apparent suspect in a foiled assassination attempt on a Russian general. While fleeing the scene she is forced to depend on a man whose skill set is beyond valuable, but whose emotional walls seem grimly impenetrable. Remaining in Russia is proving to be far more difficult, and dangerous, by the minute.

"We always think of God as our reinforcement . . .but He's our breacher."

What an explosive read! Albeit in the end, the acceleration proved to be a bit confusing as multiple characters in multiple places eventually intersected, but in their wake left numerous unanswered questions; presumably, and most assuredly, for the next book in the series.

“What—?” Sonny said. “She was on the team. She knows about Ford and his addiction to crazy stunts.

Oh, I was looking forward to Ford's story when I've met him in Tate. This strong Seal who goes into the most dangerous situations, but who actually need some rescuing himself. Scarlett with her own background and hurts were a great female lead and I loved Ford's gentleness, yet protectiveness with her.

Ruby Jane and York...I want to see more and what happened with Wyatt and Coco and how their story will end.

The action in this book was again fast paced and well written. I could feel the punches and danger. Ford, along with Tate, is my favourite of the brothers. I loved that both Scarlett and Ford had to realise that God is already where we are headed and He has our front and back! We just need to learn to trust and search for His presence.

Because He’s very very interested in showing us how much he loves us. Which means the more we don’t deserve it, the more realize we need help, the more he gets to wow us.

Susan May Warren always provides a great story which I love, but also leaves me with some lessons learned as well, which is why I will keep reading as long as she keeps writing.

This series is best to read in order.

Warren does it again. A wonderful book.

Susan May Warren sure knows how to keep her audience begging for more. With family members and plenty of action and romance, Warren captured the Marshall family in all its glory and downfalls. I always think the one I am currently reading is the best than Warren comes out with the next book with more thrills and bullets flying. Ford is no exception. I really enjoyed getting to know Ford and RJ and watching how they interact. Twins are different than normal people. They have a deeper connection. Something us non-twins don't quite understand. Anyways, the plot in Ford is definitely a chase through Russia and hoping to escape with their lives. The romance got a little too detailed at times for me, but I know some readers enjoy that. For me, I just skipped right over it and moved back into the chase. I continue to love hanging out with these family members and can't wait to read Wyatt and RJ's stories. I highly recommend everyone picking up Ford and all the books in this series. Or anything written by Warren.

While I haven't read the first two books in this series, I felt like it didn't hamper my enjoyment of Ford's story! It would of been nice to have the background that the other two stories would of provided, since the stories do intertwin, but one can still enjoy this book when read as a standalone. I liked the different setting, that of Russia and going on a covert mission to rescue his twin sister, who just happens to have a big target painted on her. I love that Susan has more than one story going on with this book, since the reader gets to see things from RJ's standpoint too. This is an excellent, fast paced story that you won't want to miss!
There are some trigger points in the story, since Scarlett has a hard time trusting due to abuse at the hands of her mom's boyfriends growing up.
I received this book from Just Read tours. This is my honest review and is in no way influenced by receiving a complimentary copy.

Ford is book three of the Susan May Warren, Montana Marshall's Series! In book two, you meet Navy Seal Ford Marshall Ford and Petty Officer Scarlett Hathaway Scarlett. In this book, it continues their amazing story. Scarlett does not know what her future holds and Ford has always been a one-man show even in the Navy but together they have to give up control to the One that has control, God. This book was hold your breath, can’t wait to turn the page, don’t want to put it down kind of read! This book follows the same intensity as the other two in the series and you will honestly not be able to put it down! On top of following the story of Ford and Scarlett, you learn a little more about Ford’s other family members, RJ, Wyatt and Coco! I cannot wait for the other books to come out!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The thing about reviewing Ford is it is the third book in the series and cannot be separated from the series, so I have to review it in the context of Knox and Tate (and reviewing without having read the next one yet). It continues the storyline and moves the characters all forward at the perfect pace.
The author has some fun stylisms in her books which are cute the first two times and by the time you get to the third book aren't cute anymore, they're old and tired. But take Ford away from the first two books and this probably would have been fine.
I enjoy this series because you get into each sibling's head and hear how they think about each other and growing up under their late father, who was larger than life. As a result, most of the sons grew up feeling to some degree that they can't measure up to their father or the others and therefore are out of place. So there's a whole lot of each of them trying to prove to themselves and the others that they're tough too. By the third son, you're beginning to feel like you've heard this twice before. It manifests itself a little differently with each one- Tate, for example, needed to believe that he was loved just for who he was and not what he did, whereas Ford needed to learn that it wasn't up to him and his sheer grit to save the world but God is in fact still on the throne.
I liked this book better than the last because the faith message was stronger and had a bit bigger of a role, also because Ford was more of a man of character who did want to do what was right. The author writes emotion spectacularly - I feel all the things as I'm reading. This one also took us away from the ranch and to the other side of the world so we got a new setting and a whole lot of Bourne-esque action.
There were a few scenes that I absolutely fell in love with and drove this to a five star for me.
1. The brothers together at the ranch telling Ma the news about RJ. The way it was written was completely believable. I felt like I was there and they all acted exactly as tough grown brothers would have acted together. Loved it.
2. When RJ tells Ford about what their father did while he was in SEAL training. This was the scene where I started sobbing. I give it 💯.
3. On the train where (spoiler alert) Ford and Scarlett tell each other that they love each other and he was just like, I need you and I don't have words for why! I just do! You make me better just because you're you. It was lovely.
