Bestselling author Hildie McQueen loves unusual situations and getting into interesting adventures, which is what her characters do as well. She writes romance because she is in love with love! Author of Romance in Highland historical, Western Historical and contemporary, she writes something every reader can enjoy.
Most days she can be found in her pajamas hiding from deliverymen while drinking tea from her David Gandy coffee mug. In the afternoons she browses the Internet for semi-nude men to post on Facebook.
Hildie's favorite past-times are romance conventions, traveling, shopping and reading.
She resides in beautiful small town Georgia with her super-hero husband Kurt, an unruly boy Chihuahua Pepito and a spoiled rotten girl Chiweenie named Lola.
Ian’s Bride by Hildie McQueen Highland Romp series #2. Historical Scottish romance. Sorcha Hay has had a good, if not rich life in her small village. She expects one day to catch the eye of a merchant and eventually marry and have a family of her own. She didn’t expect to find out she was a direct descendant of Robert the Bruce and then have to marry a Laird! Nor did Ian Murray ever expect to marry. But duty and protecting are part of his core beliefs and he finds himself married. All is not well in their home after the marriage. They have a lot to talk about to figure out if they can have a future together.
🎧 I listened to a audiobook recorded with digital voice which was impressively good. I heard emotions that I didn’t expect. The only negative was a slight skip in each chapter title.
A fast agreement and then a slow romance as Sorcha and Ian come to terms with the changes and how to live in their new reality. A Scottish afternoon delight.
Ian & Sorcha. It happens that she is a distant relative of the King. The King had a bastard son who's wife was barren. The son had another woman give birth to their child but the mother gave her daughter away to protect her. He relationship is found and she is to be married to a "somebody". He is the nephew of the laird and despite them not really liking each other (a misunderstanding) he offers to be the family member to be married to her. Now what isn't shared is that he lost a lot of his manhood in battle and it is believed that he cannot sire children (ends up he can't). Not wanting to take away motherhood from her, he asks his cousin to lay with her to get her pregnant (he declines). She overhears them talking and loses trust in him as her husband for suggesting she sleep with another man. Eventually she ends up trusting him again and he returns home with an orphan that she decides to raise as their son.

This was a sweet novella and a quick read. Ian and Sorcha are both nice, although the premise for how they end up together is kind of out there. It was a bit weird that the story was meant to follow or take place in the same clan as Declan’s bride, with recurring characters, but between the two books there were some inconsistencies that were noticeable and it was distracting. I’ve loved a lot of this author’s books, but I really wish they had a better editor.
Ian is another Murray that doesn’t have marriage on his agenda. He and Sorcha had a fight about how she thinks she is he is treating an elderly couple in her village. She thinks he is taxing this couple but he is actually helping them and making sure they have everything they need. So, they have been avoiding each other ever since. A weird twist of fate have them in the same orbit again. Secrets are spilled and lives are changed! A great story.
It was soo hard to put down. Its a page turner from start to finish. It was well written. The heroine finds out that she has Robert the Bruce's blood flowing through her veins and now she is to marry whoever her Laird picks for her and she not happy. The hero steps up and offers himself to his Laird and uncle to marry her.
I liked the characters and the arranged marriage. The only real problem I have with the book is I would have preferred it to be longer. The end did speed by a little fast for my liking.
I enjoyed the tension between the two main characters. I had previously read about Ian's brother and it was a good decision to read Ian's book. I would definitely recommend them both. I am finding that I enjoy this author's arranged marriages. This was a good read.
I know it's an 'highland romp', not a history essay, but come on! Potatoes on a Scottish table before the discovery of America?! Try it make it just a little bit believable, at least the bare minimum!
Ian has always noticed Sorcha but she was a village girl. It wss discovered that she was born into the bloodline of King Robert and would be married to an appropriate man which turned out to be Ian. Adjustments would be required.
I love reading about the Ross Clan! This is about when Sorcha and Ian Ross get married. They work through problems loving each other more! I recommend this book.
I cannot stand Ian. Oh how he thinks he is better than I. What, what do you mean I am to marry Ian. He does not even care for me. Who knew that a love such as mine for Ian could exist. What a world wind of emotions. This was a great short read.
I've enjoyed reading this story, Ian's Bride. A Highland Romp, a story that the author has done a superb job of telling, is a very entertaining story of a young woman's life as a heir to a king. The characters were well placed in the tale, by the author.
