Harper
Love causes hurt, hurt causes hate.
I’ve learned this the hard way.
I fell for a guy who is made up of angry bones, a dark heart, and eyes that can see my soul.
One night changed everything.
Now when he looks into my heart, he pulls out the weakness and he uses it to his advantage.
He taunts me, breaks me down, and is trying to destroy my first year away at college.
So why can’t I stay away?
Why am I so drawn to the boy who used to be my friend—the guy who broke my heart, and the man who wants to destroy me?

Axel
All it took was one night for me to see Harper for what she really is—a fake. An imposter who cut me open, forced me to bare my soul, then tossed me aside without even sewing up my black heart.
She was the first girl to ever stir emotion inside of me.
It’s been a year, but I still feel the sting of what she did to me.
No matter how hard I try, I can’t escape her.
Now we are away at college and she thinks she’s still part of this group we’ve had since we were kids.
Little does she know, she’s been cut, and it’s her turn to feel the pain.

The Bad Boy and The Good Girl!

If you read the previous book, you know a bit about the relationship between Axel and Harper in High School. They had been friends since childhood and they are in the same group of friends together. They went out for three months in high school, but Axel changed when his Mom died and he wouldn’t let Harper help him.

He treated her like crap while drinking heavily on the night of his Mom’s funeral and she left him because she didn’t want to stand around and be treated like that. She hadn’t meant to break up with him, but he took it that way and has been treating her like the worst possible bully ever since.

He hates the fact that they are attending the same college, hates even more the fact that she is living in the house across the street and that his friends are her friends too. He tried to get them to turn against her but they wouldn’t so she is everywhere and she makes him feel.

I like the fact that so much of this is told by Axel’s point of view. As much as he says he hates her, he can’t leave her alone when she is in the vicinity. She is like a magnet he is drawn to. She distracts him at his fights, not to mention what happens when he finds out that she lost her virginity to her new boyfriend Nate.

Axel is a jerk and he definitely owns it. I like that about him. He knows exactly what he is doing and makes no bones about it. He grows up a lot throughout this story. This is one of those books that is just about the relationship. There are not a lot of side stories in this one. It doesn’t have any mafia, murders or intrigue and that is nice sometimes.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

LIKE HATE: is the third full length enemies to lovers romance book in the series 'Redwood High', by Rachel Leigh. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.'

Forgive me father for I sinned again by signing up for an arc because of the cover!! 🔥

She's the good girl with the straight A's and he's was the king A-hole.

God this book put me through the wringer, the angst, the feels, our hero Axel all made for such an angsty stabby kind of read.

Since childhood Axel and Harper used to be the best of friends, then dated for a few months in highschool, they ran in the same crowd so they also had the same friends, things turning to custard the night of his mother's funeral due his destructive behaviour and how he was treating Harper that night made her walk away. And that was the defining moment when Axel started picking on her.

One year later and a new chapter in their lives begins as they start a new year at UCLA but along with it, comes Axel with one big chip on his shoulder, having just three goals.
1: party hard
2: Kick ass in the ring
3: make Harper miserable.

Mission accomplished..

He hates that she's going to the same school as him, he hates that she's renting a house right across the road from him, he hates that he sees her everywhere. He can't ignore her forever not when she's in the same class as him.
She turns him from cold to hot and he's not used to feeling anything. She makes him feel too much. When she tells him a few home truths it opens his eyes, to how he treats people, to how people view him.

'Like Hate' is the third book of the 'Redwood High' series by Rachel Leigh. Told in dual perspectives , this book was absolutely amazing to all the levels!

The blurb of this book was so mind-blowing that this book became one of my most anticipated!! And the moment I got it on my kindle , I dived straight into this one! I have read the previous books , so I knew that Axel and Harper would be getting their own story soon!

The author did an amazing job of building up the hype for this book. I was so excited. Harper and Axel are explosive together! My heart broke with the misunderstandings they had with each other. So much pain could have been avoided if only they both talked for some time. They had a complicated history and had dated for some months in the past.

After Axel's mom died , he wanted to stay away from Harper. But she kept insisting on being with him so he pushed her away and he did that in a pretty rude way. That lead to Harper breaking up with him , which further lead to her being bullied by Axel for years for that. Axel's logic was sort of reasonable. Even though she didn't mean to break up with him , the evening his mother died. I like that the author went through the pain to giving us a few chapters from Axel's pov , it gave me a real good perspective to see things from his side.

Axel was a jerk . There is no excuse in that and he did horrible things to Harper. Said horrible things to her. I was so happy when after so much troubles these two finally somehow became civil toward each other and got their HEA! Axel hates that the one girl who hurt him is everywhere near him. So he makes it his mission to destroy her life! This book had some amazing twists and turns and had me at the edge of my seat for the whole time!

Recommended to all the dark gritty Romance lovers , who would love a healthy bully redemption Romance!

“Hate is rich and love is poor.” That really is the mantra of our characters as we start on this wild, dramatic second chance love story set in Rachel Leigh’s Redwood world. Like Hate explores what happens when love becomes mangled, when passion and intensity are no longer an expression of your love, but an expression of your hate, of your anger- and when hate becomes the security blanket you need to guard your heart from further pain. If you wrap enough hate for someone else around your heart, will it eventually stop beating for the person that hurt you?

Our story begins in high school, the evening after Axel has just laid his mother to rest. His devoted girlfriend, Harper, wants to be there so support him, to help heal his heart and care for him during his grief, which has included putting up with him being a less than stellar boyfriend over the last few months as his mother got sick. Axel loves Harper, she’s the girl he wants to be a better man for, but his only way of coping is to spiral- only this spiral results in unexpected consequences, and by the end of the night this couple is no more. Both feeling betrayed by the inexplicable actions of the other, their pure and tender love quickly turns to hate. We flash forward a year to find Axel at college- living his playboy dreams with Harper long out of mind. He was cruel to her until they graduated, action that was entirely off page, and has been free of her at school until she decides to transfer to his college. Not only do they have all the same friends, but she’s also now living across the street, so they can’t escape each other.

This is a quick paced read- the overall storyline (enemies to lovers, second chance) with the push pull is something I generally enjoy, and Axel has some alpha tendencies that are yummy. We move pretty quickly into the heart of the conflict without a lot of exposition- which given that I don’t super love second chance romances that are the result of easily-resolved misunderstandings and that span long time periods, I was glad we didn’t dwell there. But, the limited exposition meant that I also had little window into their past relationship, which means I didn’t really feel or buy into their purportedly intense connection in the future until much later- I just saw two young adults being hostile to each other. I did read this as a standalone, so there may have been context in prior books that would have helped me dial in emotionally earlier- characters from prior books appear but there is plenty of context here for me to “get” them without reading the previous books. For this couple though, these two have been friends since childhood, have already dated, but I just didn’t get a strong enough sense that they really knew each other emotionally, which made me less torn by the angst, even though it was entertaining. There are a few key emotional moments where the story does fade to black/off page impact (normally to flash forward), and I think actually being with our characters in those scenes longer and some aftermath moments could have also heightened by connection. Both characters have their charms, although Axel is a much louder, more vibrant character, and his growth is a little bit more substantial and more complex than Harper’s.

The writing style is crisp and accessible- and the plot is focused, which keeps things moving. Thematically, the subtleties of loving and hating- the bizarre sameness of them- comes across clearly. For Axel and Harper- hate isn’t a separate emotion. In Like Hate, hate is actually just a type of loving. The emotional investment, the intensity, the all consuming passionate fixation- it doesn’t exist if you don’t care about someone enough in the first place to exert your energy in hating them. I did start to feel more tied to them later in the story, and I was definitely rooting for them as a couple. The glimpses we had of other characters also made me want to pick up some other books. All in all, this was a fun and fast read- with a lot of angst, but easily digestible. Overall, 3.5 stars.

Axel and Harper’s love/hate second-chance romance did not disappoint! They’re both very flawed characters, and I love how neither of them was truly innocent in the circumstances behind why they broke up in the first place a year earlier. That said, I loved how Axel really grew as a person. Harper develops more of a backbone as Axel figures out who he wants to be. While this book wasn’t quite as good as the second in the series, I still couldn’t put it down and I was incredibly invested in the relationship. 5 stars!

Like Hate is book three in the Redwood High series. In book three we get Harper and Axel’s story. We got to meet this pair in the first two books in the series and have an understanding that the pair have a fierce rivalry. Even if that rivalry is mostly one sided with Axel being the instigator or the dis-rest between the pair.

Regardless of his traunting Harper knows Axel needs a friend and is always willing to stand by his side even when he doesn’t want her to. However, there is only so much taughting that Harper can take and Axel has the ability to push even her away. But when the pair end up at the same college things are bound to get even more interesting.

Book 3 in the Redwood High series and a good enemies to lovers/bully romance. Axel and Harper’s story will pull you in from page one. Their story is an emotional roller coaster ride. He loves her but he hates her. He can’t stand being near her, yet he can’t stay away. They have a pull that is so strong that no matter what, they can’t stay away from each other. Great chemistry between them. Another great read from this author and I can’t to read what she has coming next.

I read an early review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This was my first book that I read by this author, and it will not be my last one! This book was fantastic, I loved it!!!
It was a heartfelt NA love story. They used to date but things spiraled out of control, and they brokeup....this is book 3 they are all now going to college. We have a hurting young man Axel that's turned into a bully. It does have its moments of dark angst. Then a young lady Harper that's hurting, and has suffered from his hateful words for the past year. Can they surpass this in-between them? Can they forgive each other? They both have the same friendships whom try really hard to get them into forgiveness, growth, but have failed.
They have a hot chemistry in-between them! There's something about this book that gets into your heart!
They do finally figured things out in the end!
I can't wait to see what comes next from Rachel Leigh, and this group of friends!

This is my first Rachel Leigh ARC and read. I've the blurb and thought that this book is right up my alley, so I signed up.

It's like any new adult bully romance that one would expect. Parties, jealousy, threats...

Overall I enjoyed it. I read it in one day... I just wish there were more exhilarating parts—like more build up leading to part where they get together. Like more jealousy, the right amount of push and pull—both coming from Axel and Harper, but this is probably just me.

If you're a fan of Tijan, LJ Shen and Penelope Douglas, then this book is right up your alley.

Axel is a boy numbed by the pain in his heart, the loss of his mother took a major toll on him and it sent him down a destructive path. One that also cost him the love of his life, Harper use to mean so much to him, now all he feels is hate for her. She left him when he needed her the most, but he is also the one who pushed her away because he was too damaged to see that he truly needed her. Now he has made it his mission to get even with her, and he torments her every chance he gets, he wants her to hurt as much as he does.

He thought going to college would be his way to escape her, but she is there too, and now living across the street from him. It is pure torture for him to see her all the time, a part of him still wants her love, but the other hates her so much, it's a constant struggle for him. Will he ever be able to escape her...

Like Hate is story of two wounded souls who love each other fiercely but also carry so much hate for one another too. Misunderstandings and loss drove a wedge between them, and since then it has been a constant battle to avoid one another. With them sharing the same friends they both feel like there is no escaping the other, and every interaction they have becomes more heated and hurtful than the next. My heart broke for these two, it was evident that they had love for one another, but Axel was too stubborn to let go of the hate he carried for Harper, and it pushed him to be a man that was hard to love or be around. His destructive habits cost him dearly, and made him a shell of the person he once was, and all Harper wants to do is save him...which is hard since he won't let her near him. This is one of those stories that will completely annihilate your heart and have you a complete mess emotionally because there are so many ups and downs, and so much hurt to sort through. At times I thought these two were never going to find common ground and heal my broken heart, as well as theirs, but little by little I began to see glimmers of hope there, and eventually forgiveness take hold. I have to say this one stole the top spot as favorite in the series, the emotion was so palpable and the hurt it inflicted on my heart was so worth the outcome. If you like angst filled heart torturing tales then I have no doubt this one will give you everything you crave and more... it's words are destined to wreck your heart in the best possible way!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

Let me get something out of the way before I start this...AXEL THORN belongs to me. I claimed him and Rachel Leigh even agreed...just head on over to her group Rachel's Ramblers and you will see the proof. I am also putting it out there RIGHT NOW that I have claimed Talon Porter too (he is Blakely Porter's little brother and his story is yet to be told so I am just getting a head start). So you ladies should all back off since I refuse to budge! 😛

Like Hate, the third book in the Redwood High series, was an angsty romance that gave me all the feels and left me utterly breathless as I eagerly inhaled all the words of this epic story. Rachel Leigh captivated every inch of my soul and was the puppet master pulling on all of my heartstrings as I found myself wholeheartedly enthralled by this bully romance. I really liked Like Gravity and loved Like You, but I freaking LIVED for every moment of Like Hate! This story managed to exceed all of my expectations and I was left absolutely stunned time and time again throughout. AND just when I thought I had it all figured out, the author left me even more on edge in anticipation.

The chemistry between Axel Thorn and Harper Ambrose was addictive and I am beyond O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D with these two. Their complicated journey spoke to my soul and made me feel all the things. I ached all throughout my body as this storyline took control of my heart. Their journey towards happily ever after was nowhere near easy. They both fought hard for their love and it was a slow burn love hate kind of relationship...

Honestly this book is the BEST book in the Redwood High series (for now...fingers crossed there are more books to come) and I cannot wait for you all to get the full story of Axel and Harper. You may think you know what their story is, but you have got no freaking clue!

MY REVIEW-Thank you Grey’s Promotions for gifting me an E-ARC of LIke Hate. All opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this book, I didn’t get the chance to read the other two interconnected books before reading this one, but that really didn’t cause any issue. It did however make me want to read them even more. There are some characters that I need to know more about!

I really did enjoy the lovers to enemies trope, that was something that made this book stand out amongst its peers. I liked Harper, I liked that she was sweet, and nice, and she had insecurities that many of us women do, in that sense she was very relatable. I love that the Author made her feel so real. Axel, while I understood his anger, he was a bit over the top for me in the beginning, but man oh man did I love his softer side!

I cannot wait for the next book, and I am hoping it’s about Axel’s sister Marni. Because I need to know her secrets.

WOW! This story sucked me in and I read it in ONE sitting!!!!!
Axel and Harper were MAGNETIC together!!!! My heart felt like it was beating out of my chest for the entire length of the book. This author is so amazing at her story telling. I never want it to end. This book had it all.
The incredible enemies to lovers trope that I am addicted to.
The fact that they were close at one point in time and then hated each other. I LOVE when that happens in books! Oh and them being neighbors/living across the street. Hashtag EASY ACCESS!
Axel was so easy to love even though he was a major jerk. But those are my favorite boys to read. I cannot wait to fill up my home library with all of this authors work. Really great at writing my favorite enemies to lovers reads right now. I NEED MORE AND MORE! 5 STARS AND BEYOND!

Despite not having read the other books in the series (yet) this was a good book to start. I've wanted to read a bully story for a while and this one met all my expectations.
Axel was a big-time A-hole... I wasn't his fan at the beginning. He was petty and mean for a misunderstanding. Harper was a bit of a pushover... but that dynamic, weirdly enough, was that made the story work, because you could see how they move on beyond that, became better versions of themselves.
I would have liked to read a bit more of that last part. To see more of those new versions to be really happy with the ending they got.

I don't know if I liked this book so much that it became super short or if it was actually a quick read. Axel and Harper are one of my favorite couples so far this year, even though at times I wanted to get into the book and shake them both so they would wake up and stop being stubborn. Some of the decisions they made were questionable but they are eighteen years old therefore I wasn't really mad about it. Overall it was a good book, I liked the back and forth between Axel and Harper and loved their happy ending.

OMG Axel is such a turd for the majority of this book. He is so stuck in his own pain and immaturity that he can never see how hurtful he is. Eek. I can’t decide if I want to smack him or hug him. My momma heart aches at what his experience has been.

Harper... I LOVE her. I see her heart and am impressed with the hard choices she has had to make. She tries to distance herself from Axel when she realizes how toxic he is. The challenge is they have the same friends and go to the same school. Yikes. When Axel goes out of his way to try to destroy her that is when Harper has truly had enough.

Axel, Axel, Axel... your journey in this story is impressive. I am not sure how this author did it. Axel your transformation not only felt real (true depiction of growing up) but turned me into an emotional mess.

This book is my fav in the series so far... all I say, it is worthy of five clapping hands. 👏👏👏👏👏

Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO

Good lord that was torture… Like Hate: A Bully Romance was my first book I’ve read by Rachel Leigh and I can say my last. Geez was the book writing by a teenager? It was that bad…

I’m lost for words that I don’t even know where to start...I had to force myself to continuing reading. I told myself I am not doing another DNF review.

The story was all over the place that you never get the chance to connect with the two main characters or any of the characters in the story. One minute your reading how Axel hates Harper, the next minute how he loves her to her hating him, then her loving him… my god I was getting whiplash with all the back and forth drama…

The dialogue was horrible that I gagged at times. It had absolutely no plot. Not sure what the author was going for in this book, but she seriously fell flat on what she was trying to accomplish. She completely skipped over so many key points that needed to be addressed. One being senior year, apparently Axel made Harpers senior year awful.
Oh don’t worry readers, you just get to hear Harper tell us thoughout the book, how awful Axel made it, but never get any details...Like really? Your not even going to give your readers some flashbacks.

What annoyed me was the Author so desperately tried to portray Harper as this forgiving and overall nice person. Umm no… Harper was a doormat! There’s a difference Rachel Leigh! Harper definitely was pathetic, never sticking up for herself. What a complete disappointment!

Was Axel supposed to be a bully in this book? Axel was more of an entitled Prick. Thinking everyone owes him something. I did not find Axel one bit interesting or hot in anyway. He had a brain of a Toddler and acted like one too. Didn’t get the college vibe at all from this book.

Anyhow, I’ll stop with my review here..no need to waste anymore of my time..

Audiobook review: Both narrators sounded like robots. Not sure if it was due to bad writing or it was just them. Stephanie Osborn I probably could listen to again, but Christopher Rain needs work. I gave it a 3 star because of Stephanie Osborn.

If you love high school drama, this is one you definitely need to read!

I was new to Rachel Leigh's writing and by the time I got to the third installment in her Redwood High series, Like Hate, I realized just how much I was hooked on her writing as well as this series. This one is Harper and Axel's stories and it's one of those love/hate relationships. It seems in each of the stories there's been one character that's gotten under my skin, in a grated on my nerves kind of way, and in this one it's Axel. I didn't hate him per se, but it took me a while to accept him. Axel is troubled and has difficulty dealing with his emotions because of what's happened to him in his past. So rather than be an adult about it, because he's now in college, he's cruel to Harper, the one constant he had in his life, the one who understood him more than anyone else.

Harper deserves better treatment, but Axel is determined. When they're friends with the same circle, how do they ignore each other. I loved the growth between these two and honestly, I did want them to be together again. You have to wonder, though, as the story progresses, if this is even a possibility. I mean, how mean can one individual be to someone?

I love the journey that Leigh took the reader on as Harper and Axel battle it out. Emotions were at an all time high and truthfully, these jagged feelings is what made this story stand out among the two previous ones. If you like enemies to lovers, and you don't mind that the characters are younger, then I can't recommend this story enough. You don't necessarily have to have read the first two but I think you'll appreciate all that the author has to offer to the series.

Lots of emotions and angst! Five stars.

This is the first book I have read by Author Rachel Leigh. I loved it and it really makes me want to go back and read the other ones before this one.
Harper is a good girl! No sex, no drinking.. wears dresses always tries to do the right thing.
Axel is the exact opposite, he fights , he drinks too much, he’s a big dick and he knows it.
Their opposites were fine growing up.. being friends and even dating for a hot minute but when Axels mom dies and Harper tries to be there for him.. he drinks way more than usual and pushes her away.. he’s mean to her.. Harper leaves, refusing to allow him to be cruel. Axel takes it as a break up on the worst day of his life and from that moment he declares Harper enemy number one!
He hates that they have the same group of friends, he hates that she goes to the same college, he hates that she lives across the street .. and he really hates her new boyfriend. She’s everywhere and he hates it. Their friends refuse to pick sides .. so they are forced to hang out together.

I guess I have a thing for BDE because I love Axel and I love that he knows he’s a dick.. when Harper loses her virginity to her new boyfriend Nate well I think you need to read it and find out .. what? I’m not giving you everything !
I loved this book. I hope that you will too ..

Like Hate is the third book in the Redwood High Series. It centers around Axel and Harper and I have been waiting for their story since the last book. This friends to enemies to lover’s story was emotional and angsty and I loved it.

Axel has hated Harper since they broke up in high school and he did everything he could to make her life miserable. He’s not happy when he discovers she was living across the street from him at college.

To put it bluntly, Axel is so cruel to Harper that I wasn’t sure how she could ever forgive. He goes out of his way to be mean to her and I wasn’t sure how she would forgive. However, I couldn’t help but be fascinated by Axel and I came to understand why he acted the way he did. He was in so much pain and didn’t know how to handle it.

Harper was a sweetheart and I felt how hurt she was by Axel’s actions. She was struggling and all of the adversity that she faced made her a stronger person.

The chemistry between Axel and Harper was obvious every time they were in a room together. I was rooting for them to be able to heal and move past all the pain and misunderstandings.

Like Hate is angsty, emotional goodness. Honestly, I think it’s my favorite book by Rachel Leigh and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

~Axel and Harper's story~

Bully romance at its finest!

Axel and Harper were best friends turned lovers...
Axel, being a teenager, made some immature decisions that ended his relationship with Harper.
Unfortunately, at the same time, he was dealing with another hard situation and he blamed Harper for making him feeling all emotions.
And that was how he started to become Harper's tormentor.

Harper is the sweetest girl. She is the epitome of a good girl: she follows the rules, she doesn't drink, she studies hard, etc.
Therefore, even though Axel made her senior year hell, she kept going to school.
She didn't want to divide their group of close friends to choose which side would they be.

Until college comes...
Destiny shows her card by reuniting Axel and Harper.
They become neighbors and classmates.
And they finally clear the air between them and start over.
Axel proves can be a good guy if he wants to. His grand gesture at winning over Harper is the sweetest!

Damn, Axel and Harper's journey is the hardest one from the series.
It's like in every turn there will be something that will hold them to be together.
I am very glad they can find their happiness together at the end.

Harper and Axel were first friends, then a couple and now they are enemies. Axel is a very reserved boy about his feelings, but he let Harper into his heart until his mother’s illness began to take its toll on their relationship, until Harper couldn’t take it anymore and on the night of the funeral she breaks up with Axel. Axel tortured her during their senior year of high school to such an extent that Harper even considered changing schools. Now they both go to UCLA, they live close to each other and Axel is still determined to make Harper’s life hell, starting by blackmailing her into leaving her boyfriend, despite the fact that he doesn’t hesitate to sleep with other girls. Harper, fed up, asks him what it necessary to be able to have a cordial relationship and prevent their mutual friends from continuing to suffer this situation. They both have an open-heart conversation about the day she left him and they both start to have a better relationship until the old feelings surface and they get back together. But one of Axel’s moves causes them to break up again and spend time apart, until they both can be together again.

In the darkness of my soul lives a man who has constant thoughts about revenge. If you hurt me, you are the one who will feel the pain.

I knew I’d never be able to forgive her for that night, and I knew that she’d never forgive me for this past year. My heart has never healed. I had hoped it would; now, I’m not so sure it ever will.

“It’s not what I want, it’s what I need.” “And what would that be?” “I need to feel again. Show me I’m alive.” He hates that he wants me. He hates that he needs me. Most of all, he hates that he has no idea what I’m thinking. I can feel his desire to open me up and see every delicacy that he can’t touch. Turning to look at me, I realize that I gave him what he needed.  I made him feel again.

“I’ve tried to love you. I’ve tried to hate you. Loving you was always the easiest, but it’s time to do what I should have done in the first place.” I choke out, “it’s time to let you go.”

Harper & Axel grew up together, had the same friends, and even dated for a bit in high school but all was ruined in one night.  His mother died which had him drinking big time on the night of the funeral & treating Harper really badly, so she left setting off a bad series of events in the aftermath.  Since that moment, he's decided that he hates her & is trying to do his best to destroy her while they're in college.  He infuriated me so many different times, and yet, I wanted to hug him as well.  Harper was just trying to move on as a young adult, and now she has a new boyfriend, but she's still drawn to Axel like he is her since they're soulmates who were torn apart from a hurt place.  She was a total sweetheart in my eyes making me all the more enraged with Axel's questionable decisions. However, fate is definitely involved, and we all know that fate doesn't ever give up.  So, can Harper & Axel move past the past for a brighter future together?! Hit those one click buttons to find out!  HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

The 3rd book n the Redwood High series.
This book begins with the year previous to the main story to give an insight in to how the relationship between Axel and Harper fell spectacularly apart in the evening of his Mums funeral.

What can I say? Axel.......grrrrr, he was so horrible, he actually made me really not like him until about 3/4 of the way through. He continually made Harper’s life hell and I felt so sad for her. She stayed pretty strong throughout and she stuck with always being her nice self and not showing Axel how she felt. Rachel’s ability to write characters so believable that I was right there in the book with them, wanting to shout at Axel. This book had the bully romance in spades, along with angst, tension and betrayal. I willed for Axel to calm down and be who he was prior to his Mums passing. The story didn’t disappoint and covered everything, I particularly enjoyed the way their mutual friends were all affected by Axels’ treatment of Harper and how they could see the whole picture and try to guide Axel in the right direction.

"I have three rules for this school year.
1. Party hard
2.Kick ass in the ring
3.Make Harper miserable"

Axel and Harper, childhood best friends to former couple turned enemies. Axel pushed Harper away after his mom died and has spiraled down from there. After high school, Harper ended up at the same college and let the games begin.

"We all have history, and I don’t mean a Bella, Jacob, Edward kind of history, it’s more of a Katherine, Annette, and Sebastian kind of story. There is no happily ever after for us, neither gets the guy. It’s tragic, but it’s life."

OMFG, this was so angsty. I was getting whiplash from their love-hate relationship. I think the ending was a bit rushed, I'm glad they finally got their happy ending. This series has been pretty good. Just a reminder, you can read these books as a standalone, but it's best to read the previous books because previous characters makes appearances.

Rachel really took this one to a level of emotions that I can’t even comprehend. It has angst, forgiveness, growth, and a character that is the epitome of fallen.
Axel is damaged, hurt, irrevocably broken, and just filled with anger. His character growth is my favorite part of the entire book! He’s such a complex and aggressive character that his softer moments make him more human.
Harper has this innocence about her that makes her the beacon for her friends lives, her relationship with Axel is one driven by her being a light to his demons. Even if she herself is one of his demons. If that makes any sense at all.
Like Hate is by far my favorite of the series because of how emotionally attached the characters are to not only each other but the story. It will give you all the heartache while slowly healing you to being almost whole again.
