A good solid story
I must reiterate that I don't read Westerns, but I am already a fan of this author. There are far too many errors, but the story is top-notch.
The story is about a cowboy named Henry Paul who kills a couple of men who are getting ready to kill an entire family. Since one of the dead men is the boss's son and the boss is a harsh, cruel man, Henry leaves the area.
He meets a man named Henry Miller, known as Killer Miller, who is heading to a town to become sheriff, and they ride together. I won't give away any more, but the rest of the story is very good.

To be completely honest, I had never read anything written by R.J. Hendricks when I downloaded this eBook. The simple truth is I had never even heard of him before, but that doesn’t really mean anything for me because there are many awesome new authors that I have never heard of or read before. When it comes to western authors, Zane Grey is at the very top of my list, but I place Hendricks right beside him. They are both worthies that could ride the river together.
Like every great thriller, no matter what the genre, Killer Miller, begins with action when Henry Paul and another ranch hand rides a rancher’s son to evict a family that is squatting on his land. When the family refuse to; leave, the son shoots the husband in the arm to intimidate him into moving. Then, when he still refuses to move, the son was going to kill the whole family in cold blood and would have if Henry Paul hadn’t stepped between them. In the resulting gunfight, Henry kills both the son and the other ranch hand.. Then after Henry removes the bullet from the squatter’s arm, they part ways with the family moving north and Henry South.
A few days later Henry meets the real “Killer Miller” when he keeps a cowardly cowboy from shooting Henry in the back. Killer Miller was an ex U.S. Marshall who was on his way to accept a job as sheriff in a town being run by outlaws. Since they were both riding in the same direction, they decided to ride together. Just before they were bushwhacked by bandits, Henry decided to become Killer Miller’s deputy. Miller was shot by the bushwackers but before he died, he gave Henry his letter identifying him as the new sheriff. Henry arrives and takes the job, assuming the identity of “Killer Miller.”
Meanwhile “King” Walton, the father of the man Henry killed is mounting an all out effort to find the family and Henry. He finds the family and holds them prisoner on his ranch until he finds out where Henry is and then takes them with him to use as leverage against Henry.
Henry has made a name for himself as the sheriff and brought justice to the town, with the help of another ex U.S. Marshall who once road with the real “Killer Miller.” Henry had not only found a home a woman to love, the young widow of one of the two sherris that had been murdered by being shot in the back of the head. When the final confrontation between Henry and “King” Walton arrives… well, you will just have to read this awesome e book to find out what happens.

As lover of western movies I was intrigued by this book and decided that instead of reading the usual crime books that I love by the way I will try this have to say 1st of all I loved it thoroughly enjoyed it now I know that many of you will go oh give me a break John westerns really! I know I know but if like me you love a western movie then this is a book you will enjoy this is only my opinion but it's a true one I found it fast moving which kept the interest going a page turner the fact I read it in 2 days says a lot I envisaged this in black and white for some reason my imagination making it out like an old 1950s style movie I was watching the characters are purely genius the storyline brilliant and or kept simple I could go on and on but then I'd start giving some of the story away and I refuse to do that on any book if your a western buff like myself then I suggest this is a must read cos I'll know you'll enjoy it and if your not and you fancy a bit of light relief from your normal type books try this you never know you may just enjoy it like I did R J Hendricks II you now have a new follower thank you

Great Read
I really enjoyed this novel and it's plot, however, I only gave it a 3 because of the poor quality in printing the final version without correcting the blatant errors. Twice I had to reread a section where the details didn't make any sense and the author didn't remove the confusing details. I noticed once that the wrong name was used in a sentence. The second section that I still hold fresh in my mind was the gunfight between Henry and Dwight McClellan where two ways of dying are written on the same page and I g ad to reread it several times to make sure I was seeing it. How does a renowned author allow such poor quality when I'm sure these mistakes were brought to him multiple times. I guess he didn't care, he was making plenty of money., but it takes away from the emotional investment the reader has put in.

RJH-II has penned a Texas western action adventure titled "Killer Miller" which begins with a man stopping the son of a wealthy rancher from killing a farmer and his family. He shoots the son and heads for the South of Texas. He meets a man "Killer Miller" on the way and they become friends. They are ambushed by a Mexican gang and KM is killed. Our man on the run assumes his friends identity and all types of troubles start. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

GUNFIGHTS, MURDERS, SQUATTERS, FALSE IDENTIFIES
5 STARS for this Old West Era Drama that should please any western lovers with it's tale of good vs evil, man gets woman, & man overcomes the evil that he is running from! Great fantastic characters with details the reader will love! Hey, even if you aren't a western lovers yet, give this one a try think of it as a man who does his dying friend's last wish sort of an light thriller Action drama with lots of gun shooting Action galore.

The story line is interesting -- thus two stars rather than one or none -- but the errors are almost too numerous to list. Some of the mistakes are just too obvious to forgive and very distracting. Having started the read I stuck with it to the end, but would not do it again. Having lived in Texas all my life I have at least a passing awareness of the culture, language and customs of the past. Hendricks is obviously not from here, depicting characters he cannot know.

Good story ruined by bad writing.
Pretty sure several horses were ruined by all of the constant and unnecessary spurring. The hero removing his "cowboy hat" ad nauseam. It's suppose to be a western story they all wear cowboy hats unless they wear something odd. The story reads like it was a computer generated. If you plan to write western stories the scribe should consider doing some minimal research about the era.

A Genuine Horse Opera
There must have been a million of these on TV in the fiftees🐴
Flat plot, fairly good character development, lots of Bloodshed, murders, and contention for the love of a beautiful woman. Then there is the hero who can’t be killed.
As these westerns go, this was about the same as any.
If you haven’t done Western in a while, do this one!

I have read quite of few westerns and this is up there with the best. A good story with good character development. This is an easy to read story no complex twist in it. However it does keep you thinking and rooting for the good guys. I would recommend this book. There is a second book coming in August.

Good read
This tale took several unexpected twists which kept my interest throughout, differentiating it from many of the more typical westerns which have easily determined outcomes.

Good read
Got me on the first page and just kept getting better. A good story line of the old west without being too brutal. I like his style of writing and would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys easy escapism.

Killer Miller Who
A good western story with lots of twist and turns. Bravado was apparent from the beginning of this book. Every man in the West must had an overbearing ego. It was good to see the bad guy wore a suit and tie not boots and pistol belt.

Remarkably poorly written and edited
Otherwise , it’s a trite Western story without character development. I read it to the end because I could not believe that it was actually published and sold.

OK But Needs A Professional Editor
A decent story but the formatting looks like it was done in too much of a hurry. Not all of the story lines are completed but it still makes for a pretty good read.

Excellent! I love a good western!
It's got it all. Blood, sweat and tears. Oh and a little bit of lovin! Nothing like a good shoot 'am up to get you interest... Highly recommend this one.

Classic Old West - very well told
Excellent characters, page-turning action, tough men and fast guns thread the entire tale. The spoiled son of a wealthy rancher goes wrong and is killed. His father wants revenge. Plenty of twists and a surprise ending. Well worth the time.

Murder and mayhem
