This is a color book! A brother and sister move through rooms of their house collecting supplies for a siesta under a blanket-tent in the backyard. The text is bilingual, which is awesome, and the story is easy to follow. The soft, pleasing illustrations are hued the same color as the object the kids are trying to find. I wish the kids were laying on a blanket for the siesta. But overall, cute and fun!

This book is about a brother and a sister and it goes back and fourth between them speaking English and Spanish words. This book could be used in the classroom for multicultural purposes!

Super simple for beginner Spanish. No real story. Illustrations look like fuzzy pictures.

The text is large and bold and Spanish is presented first, followed by an English translation. “Ven, osito. Come, little bear.” Colors play an important part in the story, each color word (azul/blue, roja/red, verde/green, amarillo/yellow, negra/black, blanco/white ) is colored in the corresponding color. Short and easy sentences are used, usually one per page. They are situated at the bottom of the page, or around the movement in the illustrations, dancing in a wave when the children sing.

The illustrations of the book are enticing, bold and colorful, done in pastels, watercolors and pencils. The images cover the entire page, easily portraying the action of each corresponding sentence. The pictures are simple and rounded, almost as if the characters are cuddly toys you could pick from the pages. You can only tell which bedroom belongs to which child from what they say they are bringing. Neither room is stereotypically gendered to a boy or a girl by the colors or toys. A mother-like figure also watches the adventure from the background of the images, finally checking in on the children after they have fallen asleep, providing a safe mental checkpoint that a parent provides for young children. It is also fun to find one of the pictures hanging on the wall of the home is the cover art for another of the author’s stories Fiesta! Also enjoyable is the kitten that follows the children throughout the story.

As an adult English speaker just starting to learn Spanish, I enjoyed this book. It wasn't quite as delightful as the author's book, Perros Perros. But, that might just be because I liked dogs better than the subject of this book which was getting ready for nap in a tent in the backyard. Also, I know my Spanish colors so I didn't learn as much from this book as I did from Perros, Perros.

English and spainish board book looking to teach color. I think you would do better with one of the Emberely spainish english books though. A little wordy. Maybe better for someone who speaks the language. Ages 3+
