About the author

Award-winning author Elle James grew up as an air force military brat. She received her work ethic from her rock-solid father, her creative streak from her artistic mother and inspiration from her writing partner and sister, Delilah Devlin. As a former member of the army reserves and a current member of the air force reserves, she's traveled across the United States and to Germany, managed a full-time job, and raised three wonderful children. She and her husband have even tried their hands at ranching exotic birds (ostriches, emus and rheas) in the Texas hill country. Ask her, and she'll tell you what it's like to go toe-to-toe with an angry three-hundred-and-fifty-pound bird and live to tell about it!

Her adventures in the army and air force reserves, and the wild antics of her life on a small ranch in Texas give her fodder for mystery, suspense and humor in her writing. Elle writes gothic, paranormal mystery for the Harlequin Intrigue line and paranormal romantic comedy for Dorchester Publishing. Grabbed a bunch of Harlequin Intrigue books from the library after reading several by Julie Anne Lindsey and like the book, but also didn’t know it was going to be a paranormal story (which isn’t really my thing) until the end. That said, it wasn’t really that until the very end, so I liked the story. Friendly/likable characters and a nice story.

4 Stars! ~ Eve moves to Spirit Canyon with her son, Joey, looking for a fresh start and a quiet town to heal in. Eve's hoping to escape from her nightmares and she's praying that Joey will heal from the trauma of watching his father being viciously mauled to death by his own dog. Mac recently returned from Iraq and also recently resigned from the Special Forces. The scars of his last mission running deep not only on his body but in his spirit as well. Spirit Canyon isn't as peaceful as Eve was expecting. There's an animal attacking livestock, it even got one of Mac's breeding goats. And someone wants to scare Eve by leaving her threatening messages. Though trying to fight her attraction to Mac, Eve finds herself accepting his protection and admires the bond he's forming with Joey.

This is definitely a paranormal I liked the characters that Ms. James has created and I hope that there will be more to come about Spirit Canyon. The climax was most unexpected. I think this should be included in the Eclipse series even though most of the events surround the full moon. A very memorable debut for Ms. James!

i love the suspense and twist of this book. if you live in a small town you will know what these people are going through and it will be easier to understand. whether you want a love story or a mystery you will want this book.
