It’s autumn, which means it’s time for CARNIVAL! But the rainy season comes early, and high winds and torrential rain lash down across Animal Boulevard. Can Anna save the day?
Series: Hotel Flamingo When young Anna inherits a dilapidated once-grand hotel, she’s determined to restore it to its former glory, but this is no ordinary hotel – all of her staff and guests are animals! As she soon finds out though, running an animal hotel is no easy task.
Read- May 2020 for the Medieval-A-Thon (a shiny book) - Ngl, its almost 2am and I'm starting to get very tired but I just don't want to stop reading these books.
Another great book in the "Hotel Flamingo" series. Me and my daughter really love these books. I can only recommend them. Both for reading together as for starting readers to read them by themself. The story is great, full with nice moments and enough adventure. The drawings are nice and well done. The characters are great, one by one!
Welcome to Flamingo Hotel, enjoy your stay, and oh yes be sure to stay for our super exciting event: The carnival is coming to town and we got BIG BIG Plans.
The third book in the Hotel Flamingo and once again I enjoyed my stay! This time we have a world famous band Nocturnal Animals, a carnival, we discover a new room, and there are new friends and guests joining the team!
As you can read there is plenty of things happening and I was reading with pure joy at every thing we discovered. The hotel is really getting better and better under Anna's management. She is really doing fabulous with her job, I was impressed when she stood her ground with that mean manager guy. I love that we still have new things to discover about the hotel. I also love seeing all the guests and what kind of animals visit the hotel (though I was laughing at the skunks and how jumpy they were).
I wasn't always a fan of the band, but later on they grew on me. Most of it was due to the manager I guess and when things happened with that guy I liked the band more and more. I do hope we see them more often in the next books.
Oh, and Anna did something superduper sweet. Or well more superduper sweet things. I won't spoil what they are, but wow! Go Anna!
The carnival and all the preparations? Fabulous! It was bright and musical and feathery. I just adored what Stella made for the float, she is amazing!
I would like to know if there are more humans in this world, we know of Anna and her family, but other than that... nothing. While I understand this is the animal boulevard, I would still like a human here and there, because as of now I am curious if the animals and humans are living together in one world, or if there is something else happening. Or maybe I shouldn't overthink it. :P
The illustrations were fabulous and fun again. I love how the animals were drawn, and the carnival was just a delight, just like one was there for real.
Quite "good feel" read for kids. Idea of an animal hotel is fun and how all of them are so different, not just cats and dogs but some little more exotic animals too.
My six-year-old daughter enjoyed this book as a read aloud. Carnival Caper is the third book in the Hotel Flamingo series and while it still carries the same themes of teamwork and acceptance, I feel like there was almost too much going on in this book. The main event taking place is the autumn carnival with the parade being front and center for entertainment. In addition to making a crowd pleasing float, Anna, the manager of the hotel has to contend with Mr. Ruffian (competing hotel owner of the Glitz), new hotel guests and their varying needs, the discovery of a new room in the hotel, The Nocturnals (world-famous band staying at the hotel and slated to perform at the carnival), the band's nasty badger agent, a brewing storm, and the various staff animals of Hotel Flamingo. The book does have a lot of action, humor, and great characters, it was just a very busy story.
Hotel Flamingo: Carnival Caper is the third book in the Hotel Flamingo series. This book is an adventure book. There are little spiders to spot all the way through the book which was fun (there are even some drawings which look like spiders but are actually not) and the illustrations were good.
I found some smelly skunks in the book that made us laugh. The baddies in this book were Mr. Sweet the honey badger, who’s new to this book, and Mr. Ruffian the lion, who keen Hotel Flamingo readers will remember from the first two books! The baddies made the story even more exciting.
This book made me feel excited and left me guessing about what was going to happen. I would recommend it to other children and I am looking forward to reading the next one in the series.
As carnival time approaches the hotel has to design and make a float to represent them and their unique hotel.
Meanwhile a skunk and his partner as well as a family of parrots arrive to stay which proves very unique and funny! As well as a demanding band and a homeless sheepdog who Anna takes in she discovers a secret part of the hotel too so it's all action ahead in this addition to the series so far!
This is my favourite book so far in the trio of novels with plenty of colourful characters and side storylines from the main carnival one too I was hooked and flew through the book Anna was a strong girl manager too facing tough situations at times too.
“It’s autumn, which means it’s time for CARNIVAL! But the rainy season comes early, and high winds and torrential rain lash down across Animal Boulevard. Can Anna save the day?”
We finished Carnival Caper (book three of this four-book series) this morning and my girls LOVED it—especially my oldest who felt inspired to craft her own puppets of her favorite characters!
As with the previous books, Carnvial Caper is a fun story brimming with loveable characters and age-appropriate lessons about working together as a team and treating everyone with kindness.
Though recommended for ages 5-8, younger children will enjoy the story and be captivated by the illustrations throughout. 😎🌴🦩
Hotel Flamingo: Carnival Caper by Alex Milway was such a joy to read with my daughter! This story takes us back to the sunny, quirky world of Hotel Flamingo, where Anna and her delightful collection of animal staff and guests are gearing up for the big carnival on Animal Boulevard. Anna is determined to win the prize for the best parade float, even as unexpected guests (including a world-famous band!) and a surprise early rainy season threaten to derail the fun. It’s full of humor, teamwork, colorful characters, and just the right amount of adventure that kept us smiling from start to finish. We both loved this book!
Third in the series. The fun continues at Hotel Flamingo as they prepare for the annual carnival. All of the characters participate and readers meet new ones as guests arrive. I love the support for the homeless sheepdog as they show compassion and care at a level younger readers will understand. Of course, they save the day when a storm comes through during the parade and everyone celebrates together in a newly discovered hotel ballroom. A delightful read together series.
Another cute installment of the Hotel Flamingo series. My 7 year 11 month year olds LOVE this series. J liked when the band came to the hotel. She says "I liked the fox band member!" A liked when Lemmy went crazy over his favorite rock band coming to the hotel. She says, "My favorite band member was the bush baby." I loved how the book addressed homelessness and treating people with kindness and dignity. The hotel gives the homeless dog a home and then he gets a happy ending.
We still love these stories! They are full of kindness and fun clean adventure. In this hotel story they are getting ready for a carnival, and of course some trouble comes along. Anna and her crew are a good team and work though many problems together as you can guess they work though these as well. I highly recommend these stories to anyone you likes animal adventures, and good clean fun.

PASS: Hotel Flamingo Carnival Caper is still a really clean read with the same “gee whiz” “golly” and “goodness gracious.” This book focuses on a Rock and Roll band that comes to stay at the hotel. If that’s not a problem for you, then it’s clean. Once I discovered this, I didn’t bother to pay too close attention to the minor details because, we will pass on this one for the kids.
I want a book filled with character origins! I absolutely love the uniqueness that each guest at the hotel brings into the story. Now I need confirmation that Nocturnal Animals is indeed a rock band like I feel they are!
Kolmas osa sarjassa, ja kahden vuoden päästä mun suomea-taso on parantunut todella paljon - osasin lukea melkein 90 sivua päivässä ilman tulemisesti väsynyt. Mä oon tosi ylpeä musta, ja olen lainannut neljäs kirja kirjastosta!
Another nice book filled with imagination. I would love to visit hotel flamingo myself. I loved the positivity and caring approach. Its exactly the type of kindness we need to bring to this world. And yes, characters are lots of fun as well, not to mention cool illustrations.
Loads of fun, trouble and kindness! I’d love to go to the carnival with the staff of hotel flamingo! They’re all great. Anna is a great little character to have in these books.
Another adorable story about the adventures at the Hotel Flamingo. I especially liked the story of standing up to bullies and helping people who are mean to you.
