Savior is mainly told from Penny's POV and boy this heroine is drama queen. Her inner dilema is killing me. Miss Summers made her looks like needy, annoying heroine.
The plot is interesting enough. Savior made me edgy on my seat for the next book, Luca.
I feel like I have been waiting for Luca and Penny's book forever, and I'm so glad I finally get to read it, even if it is only half of their story.
This was overall a good book. I loved Luca, like I have in the previous books, and I'm warming up to Penny too. I know she went through a lot so at times her attitude and reactions can be a bit unwarranted or unexpected, but I also understand why she would act a certain way. They don't really have chemistry that I can see yet, but I'm not going to judge their romance based on this book yet because she has been through a lot and can't even think about anything in the romantic nature. So I am looking forward to what is to come in their next story, and how Luca will help her overcome things that have happened to her.
I'm also super happy to see some of the side characters such as my bae Hunter, and Cole who I am still highly anticipating the rest of his story. I like seeing Decker and Keira more too, but I miss Sarah. This book almost makes me want to go back and revisit all of their stories again.
Overall this was an enjoyable book. There was very little, if any, romance, seeing as it's only the beginning of their story. Nothing really happened in this book either that couldn't be just mentioned, but I get the author probably wants us to have the full experience of how Penny and Luca meet and the beginning of the end of Luther's empire, so I'm feeling like this is almost a prequel to Luca and Penny's actual story. Either way though I'm still really excited to read their next book and what is to come with them.
Oh wow! This fast-paced romantic suspense draws you in right from the beginning and you won’t want to put it down once you crack open the first pages. After all, it is impossible to not forgo sleep when one is completely enthralled with an enticing plot and captivating characters. Be prepared for a rollercoaster ride of heart stopping action, gripping suspense, and a story that is sure to pull at your heartstrings.
For those of you who have read Torian, Savior picks up towards the last few scenes in Torian only this time we get it from Luca’s and Penny’s perspectives. Penny’s story is heartbreaking. A broken heroine, one cannot help but admire her resilience and inner strength. I loved Luca. He is protective and really connects with Penny. The book does end on cliffhanger and I cannot wait to see how the rest of the story unfolds.
Savior is the first book in their duet and is book 4 in the Hunting Her series. In theory, you could read this book as a standalone although I highly recommend starting at the beginning of the series as the stories are interconnected and there is character overlap. I read an early complimentary version of this book.
I have terrible bookzheimer's, so I will admit that I had forgotten when had happened in the previous book, however once I got started I was right back on that island with Penny and Luther and what was going one.
What an adrenaline filled read is Savior. It will get your blood pumping and have you sitting on the edge of your seat as you turn each page.
Being part one of a duet, you know you are going to be left on a bit of a cliffy, however this did not bother me, and I personally didn't find it that bad - probably because I was expecting it.
Oh my heart for Penny. I cannot even fathom things she has been through, things she has seen.
And Luca - is he good, is he bad, can he be trusted?
Once again Eden does not disappoint! Her books just keep getting better and better 🥰
So we jump right back in to this story with Penny in Luther's clutches, my heart breaks for everything her and the girls have gone through, as a reader you can really feel their fear towards Luther. I forgot how much of a monster he is 😡
I love that the girls stick together in a 'sisterhood' to keep each other going, many books that cover these sort of characters are usually bitchy and hate each other so it was nice to see them all looking out for each other with Penny being a mother hen even if she didn't feel like it herself.
There is no hope for escape, no hero coming to save them, "optimism's wings clipped" until Luca 😍 but man does he have his work cut out for him, trust doesn't come easy to Penny anymore 🥺
We also see our beloved men in action once again, Torian, Hunter, Decker and Luca do not disappoint 🔥
The story and action was fast paced, I was turning pages like a mad woman, I couldn't get enough and not even ashamed to say I devoured the book in a day 🙈
Thank you for another amazing story Eden! Can't wait for the next book to find out how Penny and Luca are getting along 😏
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC and this is my honest review 🥰
I barely have words to review this jaw-dropping book. Savior is not just a well written story about rescue, suspense, suspicion and evil, it is a story that pulls you in with raw emotion. Luca works for the evil mobster, Cole Torian. Torian has recently discovered something more evil than himself, his father. As one of Torian's guards, Luca goes with him to help get rid of the evil. What he didn't expect was to find Penny. Now the mission has a new purpose. He has to free her. The danger is like nothing he has faced before, but the risk is worth it.
Savior is part one of the Penny and Luca duet and Book 4 of the intense and amazing Hunting Her series. I have read each book more than twice and will read them again. Why...they are THAT GOOD!
OMG 5 stars is not enough for this book. Pretty much read in one sitting if work didn’t interrupt it would have been. This book is leading up to what I can only imagine is going to be the most amazing ending to Luca and Penny’s story. It takes us back to Torian and fills in what happens when Cole meets with Luther. But it’s Penny’s and Luca’s story. It’s not a love story by any means, Penny is just to broken for it to be. Penny has been through so much has seen so much that it will leave you wondering how this woman has even survived. The story will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat and just turning those pages to get answers. Eden has written the story with great sensitivity to the whole situation of what Penny has been through and is still going through. And with Luca’s character she has placed great thought into how he approaches certain issues that are raised through out the story, with the right word choices in some of his scenes it turned a scene from what could have happened to what actually happens. The final chapter of this book saw Cole make a change that you don’t see coming. I truly don’t think this story could have been written better.
Eden Summers has written a fast paced darker story, full of the strong characters that you have come to know from the earlier books in this series. I am now eagerly awaiting to see what will happen next as this series continues from strength to strength.
Wow! Even having known what was happening, seeing it all play out from Penny & Luca’s POV was eye opening. I felt so many emotions from beginning to end of this book, & well, I’ll be holding my breath until Luca’s book. Great book, great characters, amazing story.
From the moment I opened this book I could not put it down. Savior is a two part duet in which we the reader finally meet Penny. If you have read Decker and Torian you will understand why everyone has waited for this story.
The first few chapters give you the opposite side of several of the last chapters of the previous book Torian and we now get Penny and Luca’s point of view about the showdown between Luther and Cole.
It moves so quickly that at one point I thought I’d only been reading for a half hour when in fact I was three quarters of the way through this story. Each event brings newer more in depth emotions to the reader.
How did she survive the torment, the degradation, the absolute hell she went through? Will she be able to trust anyone again ever?
I can’t say enough about this story. It isn’t a love story by any means but it is the story behind a woman who was trapped, beaten, used, physically and sexually punished and more; yet it shows her inner strength and her ability to care for those who were not as strong as her.
Now that we know Penny and we are aware of the support she is going to need we wait patiently for the second part of this duet to see if Penny’s savior, Luca can be the person she needs to move back into the world.
I was given and Advance Reader Copy of this book and the review above are my own thoughts and words.
This author has a group of characters intertwined by work, family and romantic relationship. The leader of that group, Cole Torian is the son of a bad guy running human trafficking headquartered in Greece. In Cole's book, Torian, he and some of the main characters travel to a Greek island near his father’s headquarters. When he and one of his employees, Luca, go to the father’s compound, they find Penny, sister of another associate, being held as chief of the father’s harem of severely abused women. This is the start of her story. And the start of her romantic relationship with Luca. The impact of human trafficking on its victims is complex. At times in the book, it feels like Penny’s victimization has gone on for years, but it has been just a short time with a lifetime of aftereffect. This, this novel is intensely psychological, highly relational, sometimes uncomfortable to read, and almost impossible to put down. Do know that this is only the first half of the Penny-Luca duet, so little is resolved in their relationship and the reader will have to wait for the next part. I think it will be worth the wait and I HATE cliffhangers. I received this book as an advanced reader’s copy for review purposes.
i feel before i start this review i should add a trigger warning, this book is darker than the previous books in the series, if you have already read torian and decker you will be aware of penny's story, if you haven't and have had any kind of abuse in your past this book might be a difficult read in places,(although not unnecessary graphic the subject mater might be trigger enough)
i enjoyed this book but its one serious emotional roller coaster, within a single page you can go though a whole tornado of emotions, i don't there is a single emotion i didn't experience and some point, while the book is mostly penny's story i find luca a much more complex character then i had expected, the sign of any good book is when you feel the need to climb inside and save people and this happened so often, i cant wait for the next instalment :)
If you have read the previous book Torian then this book picks up just as he meets his father in Greece and is told from Penny’s POV. Penny being Deckers missing sister and the “favourite” of Torians father.
Broken, vulnerable, but surprisingly strong Penny cannot trust that she is now free of the nightmare she has endured and that her brother and his friends are the good guys, when everything she sees tells her otherwise.
Luca is the one that found her and has become protective of her. While he try’s to help her, he has to fight these feelings that are becoming more than just as the one who saved her. Can they have a future? Will Penny ever Have a normal relationship again with her brother , will she let go of the guilt and fully trust Luca?
This is book one of Penny and Luca’s story and I cannot wait for the next instalment.
I've been patient while waiting for this book and it was worth it! This book picks up close to the end of the last one in the series, Torian. This is Penny's and Luca's point of view. I did feel a bit uncomfortable with some of the scenes where you hear of the abuse the trafficked women have endured but Eden does a great job and is not too graphic with the storytelling. I am curious how Penny will get past her abuse and be able to live a somewhat normal life. Even though I know Luca is a bad guy, I am rooting for him and Penny and hopeful that things will work out for them in the next book. I received an advance copy of this book from the author and this is my honest opinion and voluntary review.
Penny is not just Luther’s captive and play thing, she is a friend and mother figure to the other girls in Luther’s house, but most of all to Tobias, Luther’s young son. Luca comes with Cole Torian, Luther’s son, to save Penny and the other captives, and take down Luther’s sex slave operation. He wants, no needs, to save Penny, but will she trust him? Can he save her?
Wow! Savior, the fourth book in the Hunting Her series, does not disappoint! I was prepared for a good story, but this one was excellent. I could not put this book down! The depth of emotions kept me reading long after I should have went to bed. I don’t know how Eden keeps coming up with these amazing stories and characters! I can’t wait for the next book
Wow is all I can say. Definitely deserves a five-star review and had me gripped from the first page and couldn't put it down. Having read the previous books in the series I was unsure about reading this book, as you get some of the heroine's horrendous back story in them. I like my books more lighthearted than that but Eden managed a traumatic subject very sensitively while creating a courageous and strong heroine. Luca was amazing and really came into his own in this book.
Put simply I loved it and am eagerly awaiting the conclusion of their story!
First off. Luca! I mean. He’s the literal most awesome bestest ever...
Secondly... Penny!! Eeppp! She’s a seriously bada** chic. To put Up with what she’s been through. And still put everyone else, in her chosen family, first. I’m in awe of this characters.
Make no mistake. This is a hard book at time. It deals with sex trafficking and sexual abuse. It’s handled well!! Awesome plot. Believable, well thought out characters.
Cannot wait for the conclusion, Luca... Due out by fall 2020!
If you are looking for an emotional, anti-hero saves the day, while the chica is a bada**, this is the book for you!
I have waited patiently for this latest book in Eden's Hunting Her series and I am pleased to say it was worth the wait. Within the first few pages we are back in Luther Torian's world and it's not a great place for a woman to be. Great plot with excellent world building in which we get to know Luca and Penny a little more, however is Penny too broken, can she come back from her treatment and that of the other women she has tried to protect? There is a lot of tension in this story and some of the trauma to these girls is heart breaking. You can almost feel Penny's mood swings as she stuggles with her own self loathing and who she can truly trust. Eden reels you in and you will be absorbed into the world of Torian and what that name means. Brilliant read that should be read after the first 3 books in the Hunting Her Series.
I recieved an ARC from the author for an honest review.
I've enjoyed this series from the start and Savior is another fantastic addition. It continues from Torian and will take you on an emotional roller-coaster ride designed to tug at your heartstrings. This was a fast paced plot that was dark, gritty and raw as it touches on sex trafficking and abuse and the ramifications and struggles of dealing with life after. The story was suspenseful and will have you turning the pages to see what happens next. The characters will consume you, Penny with her strength yet at the same time broken and vulnerable with all the abuse she experienced and Luca with his protectiveness. While there was little if any romance, this was part one of Luca and Penny's duet. As expected it ends in a cliff hanger and I can't wait for the next book to see how it all plays out. This was a great continuation to this series.
Gripping from start to finish. Absolutely loved this book and fell in love with Luca and Penny. The underlying threat of what will happen next will keep your turning those pages. The emotion throughout their journey pulls at your heart strings . Eden Summers has once again delivered an amazing read and I cant wait to get my hands on the next part of Luca and Penny story .
I read the ARC of the upcoming release of Savior. I loved the first 3 books in the series If youu have any abuse triggers do not read this book but otherwise I'm sure you'll fall in love with her series. This is a series so expect cliffhangers.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Wow…Wow…Wow!!! Gripping! Riveting! Engrossing! I love when authors can give us tenacious, resilient and feisty female characters and then temper them with such profound vulnerability and brokenness (sorry...not the best word to use, but this is the word that best describes it). This is what Eden Summers has given us with Penny in Savior. The title of this book is well suited for Penny’s story as many would automatically jump to the premise that it is specifically describing the Hero of the book. Well you would be correct, because the hero…or should I say Heroine in this tale is PENNY! This woman personifies the word Savior. She is a Defender…of all who share her painful present. She is a Protector…of all who find themselves placed alongside her wrapped in chains of misery and destruction. She is a Liberator…of many whose lives were destroyed by greed and evil debauchery. She is her own Savior! If you have read Torian, you will indeed appreciate the opening chapters of Penny’s story as we get to see the other side of the suspenseful and captivating ending of Torian, and we see the progression of Penny’s story from an abstract character in Decker, to an established Heroine in her own right. This story has a dark premise at its base, however, Eden Summers, rather than concentrating on the more disturbing aspects of the subject story, has focused on the emotional intensity and behavioural ramifications of Penny’s circumstance and touches on how devastating the inner conflict she struggles with due to her life under Luther Torian, has had on her psyche. Luca, although in my opinion is a secondary character in this one, is still the rock that Penny clings onto, even when she doesn’t realise she is actually tethering herself to her rescuer. He presents to Penny, via his gentle, yet harsh and merciless exterior, a lifeline that lends her the strength to see that a new future, one she never really thought possible, may just be in her grasp. Note that this does end in a cliffhanger…that there is a book 2 to round off this outstanding story and I am so looking forward to the finale. Bring it on!!!
Penny is as much a ghost to herself as she is to her family and the rest of the world. Stuck, forced to live on an island far away from home, her dreams and hopes non-existent, as she resolves herself to a life with the devil, Luther Torian. Penny takes care of the other girls Luther has collected as his personal playthings, on their way to be sold to the highest bidder or put out to work for him as slaves. She hasn't given up, as most of the girls have. Penny is a fighter and she'll fight until her last breath. Luca works for Cole, Luther's son. Penny doesn't know much about Cole, but really how far can the apple fall from a tree like Luther? Not far enough. Penny was way wrong. Luca instantly becomes Penny's biggest supporter and appoints himself her protector. He knows her backstory and while learning about her ordeal with Luther, he becomes obsessed with revenge. He needs to keep her safe no matter what. Cole is nothing like his father. Cole and Luca are here to take him down and finding Penny was something they never imagined possible. Decker would agree. Decker isn't someone Penny remembers anymore. She has no family, no friends, no past. All she has is now and now is looking pretty dim and her future isn't looking any better. If only she could trust the guy who keeps giving her hope, her new protector, the only man that has made her feel safe. Maybe Luca would see the woman behind the shame and hurt and heal her. WOW, THIS BOOK ! EMOTIONAL, HEARTBREAKING AND HOPEFUL, ALL AT THE SAME TIME ! THIS SERIES IS ADDICTIVE. THE CHARACTERS ARE COMPLICATED AND NOT AT ALL WHAT THEY SEEM. GREAT READ ! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SERIES ! ! !
This is all on me.. I shouldn’t have gone into this book thinking it was going to be a romance which it’s not. Not even close. While the hero felt some sort of lust or some kind of feelings for her, she did not.. and it was expected with everything that happened to this girl I would have been upset if the author had the heroine getting into a relationship hours after she was rescued from the hands of her rapist.
If I have known this was a duet I’d waited for the second book.
I liked hero and heroine but everyone else gets a zero stars.. especially her brother and this Torian ass.. I know it’s not her brother’s girl fault that her father was a rapist and a killer, the POS who kidnapped women and had them as sex slaves and sold them to other men. But I totally understand heroine’s reservations towards this woman.. it makes you wonder who is he going to be loyal to? his sister who spent years being raped by his girl’s father or the woman he’s in love with.? I think the heroine’s feeling of betrayal by her brother are very warranted.
Savior was a fast paced, emotional story with a really dark subject in the middle of it all, human trafficking. The plot somewhat overlaps Torian (book 3 in Hunting Her) but it is done masterfully by the author, told in new POVs without being repetitive. The book can be read as standalone but for more depth and backstory I recommend to read it after Torian, or even better to read the whole series. It will definitely add to the experience. Penny's story was heartbreaking and her inner strenght was incredible. Luca seemed like a tough but also nice and considerate guy. Hopefully he will be the one who helps Penny to find herself again. This book did end on a cliffhanger but I can't say I was upset about it although I'm not a fan of cliffhangers at all. In this case though I felt it was absolutely right. To put this story in one single book would have robbed Penny of her utterly deserved redemption and time and opportunity to become whole again. Savior isn't a romance but an adrenalin-filled story of rescuing Penny and other abused women with a flicker of hope for better things to come. I can't wait to find out how Penny and Luca's story will end.
Penny and Luca! OMG… these two?!… Just wow. After finding out they were going to get their own story and then going into this book, I didn’t realise how much I needed a Penny and Luca story and I’m so glad there’ll be more! Yay! I couldn’t wait to get more of them as soon as I got stuck in to Savior. This book pulled me in and I had no choice but to go along this journey with them and I absolutely loved it. It was a rollercoaster of emotions and my heart just broke for Penny and everything she was/is going through. I loved the way the story started and especially where it started from Penny’s POV, I loved getting to know what happened at that point from another character and what she had to endure. Then along came Luca. I absolutely loved the connection they shared right from the first moment they met. I loved seeing the stubborn sides both had and the protectiveness Luca had within him, I really loved how neither of them gave up and I can’t wait to see more of that. An amazing job done by Eden, I’m itching to get my hands on the second book to Penny and Luca’s story.
Penny has endured so much since she was taken and held captive and although her spirit has been bent it hasn’t been broken. She is more concerned about the people she is with than herself so when she is rescued, she believes he is just another man who will use her to take what he wants.
Luca is drawn to Penny from the moment that he sees her. He senses her pain and is willing to be patient and show her that he can trust her, but he isn’t about to let what happened to her go unpunished.
The characters are compelling as Penny has a strength and resilience that is inspiring while the protective side of Luca is enough to make you swoon. This is the first part of a duet so it does end on a cliffhanger which leaves us wondering what the future holds for Luca and Penny. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Wow! I loved reading this face paced suspenced filled tragic story.
Although Savior is a part of a duet and book 4 Hunting Her Series you could read as a standalone book. I believe that after reading you are going to want to devour the entire series from the start to learn more about the characters involved. Penny and Luca are the main characters in this book and it will leave you captivated by the strength of Penny in face of such depraved heartbreaking treatment and the lengths she goes to protect those around her.
Even though this is the first book in the duet you will not be left hanging too much. I can't wait to read more about Luca's character oh and Penny but seriously more about Luca 😍
