Rate this book
The Dragon Academy wasn’t my first choice of college, but when a dragon took my little sister, I had to go rescue her.

She’s at some dragon academy stronghold, and to get through the gates, they’re making me compete against creatures I never thought existed. The most dangerous of them is Sheridan. He claims to be a dark elf, but I’ve seen his fangs and mesmerizing violet eyes. He’s a vampire who wants my blood.

The trials are designed to cull the weak. AKA me. Sheridan says if we team up against the monsters, I might just get a chance to survive this deadly tournament. I don’t trust him, but what choice do I have?

I’ll to battle through the dragon trials, win a place at the academy, and get my sister… if it doesn’t kill me first.

Surprised

I really like this story so far. I hope it keeps to this caliber and continues to improve. I love the characters, even the less alive one. We are left with questions but no cliffy. It is clean in both language and sexually. It is violent but not too gory (think Hunger Games with magical beings)

I did not care for this story. There was nothing wrong with it, per se, so I did not rate it a 1 or 2. It was just bland to me.

Theme: Quest. I already forgot the main character’s name, but this 17-year-old was the prime caretaker for her 7-year-old sister. The relationship was pretty fun and goofy, but her sister suddenly disappeared on a dragon, leading the 17-year-old on a weird chase through a bizaar bazaar.

Then the story took a left-turn and she fell into the rabbit hole/I mean land of fae. A nice vampire, or dark elf, named Sheridan, tried to pick her up but those fangs terrified her. She ran on her own towards an academy with trials toward success or death. She just wanted to take her sister home, but she was forced into the competition to find her sister.

Although she thought she had no powers, the quest gave her the chance to discover her own powers. Unfortunately, I did not think she grew in any other manner during the story. She was still naive, slow to understand, and pretty dumb, in my opinion.

The magic wooden object was a show-stealer, though. It could turn into a club, a spear, a shield, or a bowl. Anything wooden. And man, did it have a mouth on it. I thought of it as the nagging mother in the back seat.

Excellent new series!

Her sister is taken by a small green dragon. Somehow, she has to get her sister back. Little does she know, her quest will dump her into a different world, where dragons live, where she will have to compete in dragon trials just to speak to her sister. Great plot and characters, fast paced action, make this a must read!
