Destin Gerek brings a really unique perspective to the growing thinking around masculinity, approaching it from years of experience having embodied the "Erotic Rockstar" persona, embraced tantra and, as he's not shy of sharing, had sex with many, many women.

The point he gets to is really sound. That masculinity can be healthy, that a man is able to heal a woman sexually (and vice versa), and that the ultimate journey is within past all of the self-limiting beliefs. That the ultimate power of creation rests within. A man can enable a woman to be her best version of herself, by showing up for her, by honouring her feminine.

All of this is great stuff. He tells vulnerable stories about his experiences. He shares valuable insights on how to be a great man sexually (and how that is very different to "getting" sex from a lot of women). I felt it comes across with a bit of braggadocio sometimes, with the occasional lapse into a narrative of "how cool I am, I bedded thousands of women", but he treads a very fine line in this book and it is possible that the interpretation is mine.

I found that reading this book at the same time as Open Her by Karen Brody gave some really powerful insights into how to be within your masculine. And I think this book is best read in that way, a gateway into further and deeper reading on each of the subject points.

This is worthwhile reading for any man exploring his masculine, alongside The Way of the Superior Man (David Deida) and Fire in the Belly (Sam Keen) and, of course, Open Her.

Recommend for men AND women!

I read this book because I am interested in balancing Masculine vs Feminine energies. I found the parts on redefining what how you think of yourself relavante to women as much as men.

I found it inspiring on how he took charge of who he was, his personality, his beliefs and ultimately his daily behaviours. This is something we ALL should do, regardless of gender. We are leas to believe that so much of our personality is just predetermined by genetics and our environment.

We blame the shity parts of our personality we say we have no control over saying “that’s just the way I am” and expect others to move their behaviours and attitudes to accommodate our victimhood.

The author encourages us to rake back our control, redefine who we are according to who we want to be. This is a powerful message if we put it into practice.

As a woman reading the parts on sexuality, I saw where I was giving away my power. By accepting and encouraging my partner in fully demonstrate his sexuality, I would allow me myself to fully step into my own sexual power.

Definitely passing this book onto all the men (and women) I see struggling to find the balance of expressing who they are. No one is a victim of their circumstances, everyone has the power to change who they are showing up as!

Destin’s heart is in the right place as his narrative takes you on a journey of his personal vulnerabilities, life lessons and should do’s and shouldn’t do’s on masculinity, men on the feminine and sex.

Although the integrity of his work brings forth meaning, his encouragement of healthier male archetype is short-winded and biased to the contortion of his life. I felt his pitch was to sell men his archetype rather their own creation. This may not be his intention. I just wasn’t sold

Perhaps it was an illustration of how his life came to be but his click-bait title of his book encourages a sort of car salesman grab.

It’s a good read regardless but don’t expect much tangibility rather enjoy his often obnoxious yet persuasive tone plead humanity the need of a better man.

Man, this guy knows how to LIVE! This book falls somewhere between Self-Help and Memoir, as Gerek shares intimately about his own life's journey as a means to illustrate his teachings. And when I say intimately, I mean it! It takes a lot of balls to share about such sensitive areas of one's life, especially in such a raw way.

Reading this book led me to release shame that I didn't even realize that I had. I understand women better, I understand sex better, and I understand myself better than I did prior to reading this one-of-a-kind book.

Hats off to you, Destin.

The book probably deserves 4 stars. -1 star for my experience in recruitment and participation in a very expensive training series that while seemingly of value for many participants was sold hard with all the concern for discernment and good match that the proverbial used car salesperson has when you show up on the lot.

I think some men will only ever be open to hearing that women really are subjected to violence by men and that society is experiencing a crisis of toxic masculinity from a man who calls himself the “Erotic Rockstar” and buries this message in almost 300 pages centering his sexual exploits. For that reason, this book is useful.

That being said, it’s troubling that this author did not realize that his verbal abuse of multiple intimate partners and inability to control his anger were problematic or should have been explored through avenues like therapy, introspection, and taking a break from dating and physical intimacy until AFTER he had already spent years giving advice to other men about sex, relationships, and masculinity. It’s also concerning that his own abuse of his partners is given such little real estate in the book and down played (ie at least he didn’t hit them).

There is so much garbage out there about men and masculinity these days. FINALLY, I find a book that speaks to me. Destin seems to be a remarkable man and has inspired me to be a better one myself. I really took my time with the book, being sure to journal about the questions posed at the end of each chapter. I found that very helpful. My wife has remarked many times now about the positive changes she has seen in my since I read the book. I have now also been listening to The Evolved Masculine podcast, and even bought his online trainings. This man clearly puts his heart and soul into what he does, and I'm grateful for it. It's a tough time to be a man, and this book makes it a bit easier.

Left me inspired to reshape my relationship to what I thought it meant to be a man. My girlfriend keeps telling me how much sexier I seem to her literally since I started reading this book! I can't really explain it, except that I am showing up differently, see her differently, and yeah, I'm pretty sure that I'm a better lover now, too. If I had any idea how much this book would affect my life, I'd have gotten it the first time that I heard about it. But glad I eventually picked it up. Once I did, I couldn't put it down. Read it. If you are anything like me, you'll be glad you did!

Better than I expected. This is not your typical self-help book. Destin shares intimately about his own wild life experiences while pulling very clear lessons that are applicable to all men (even though you likely haven't lived as crazy a life as this guy has!) I've read the book twice, and most likely will read again. Each read, I pick up new nuggets of wisdom that improve my life, sex, relationships, and just who I am as a man.

A book I didn't want to put down. It is more of a biography than it is a self-help book. At times, I'd have preferred more distance from the author's personal story and more generalistic wisdom. But the author's relatability is also what got me hooked.
