Tom The Dancing Bug is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and it remains as timely and poignant as ever. Cartoonist and Tom The Dancing Bug creator Ruben Bolling has certainly had plenty of material to work with over the last four years, while winning a Herblock Prize, a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award, and being named a Pulitzer Prize Finalist. Into The Trumpverse features more than 200 cartoons covering the political landscape during that time. With a foreword by the legendary Neil Gaiman. "Ruben Bolling's craft and commentary are as powerful and as pointed, as capable of making you laugh while breaking your heart, as they were when we were all so very young." from Neil Gaiman's foreword
My rating 2.5 stars for written content but rounding up to 4 because the artwork/comic drawings are incredible. There are a few jokes/comics in here which caused me to laugh my ass off--but just a few. While not a fan (far from it) of our 45th POTUS, I don't enjoy the same sarcastic gags over and over and over and over and I guess I just don't hate him. Thought DJT was going to be a terrible President before and thought he lived up to my terrrible expectations during 2016-2021. But I am glad he is gone and revisiting the pain is not diverting to me.
So this wasn't for me. I like Ruben Bolling a lot, and appreciate that he is the Weird Al of Comic Strips, very incisive and clever, but there wasn't enough here for my sense of humor.
Loved the Neuron Heroes one, though. Actually, all the ones not about our Worstest President were great in their own way. (And some of those were OK but a little went a long way)
