Tattooing is more than a job for AJ—it’s his life. When he bought Skin Deep, he immersed himself in his work. Focusing on the shop and his work leaves AJ little time to dwell on what he doesn’t have—a sweet boy who likes to dress up in pretty clothes. Oliver’s worked hard to overcome his start in life. Kicked out of his house at seventeen, he sold an app he created for millions at twenty-one. Objectively, Oliver has it all. What he doesn’t have is someone who loves him for him, including his collection of sexy lingerie, cute pajamas, and the occasional skirt and pretty top. When Oliver goes into Skin Deep, he expects to leave with a beautiful tattoo to represent how far he’s come in life. What he doesn’t expect is a sexy tattoo artist who sees way more than just a pair of pretty panties.
This was rather sweet short story about a tattoo artist and a programmer with a mutual interest in lingerie, make up and pretty clothes. Despite it being really short, there was enough background provided to fully immerse into the story and care for both men. My only regret is that it ended too abruptly. I felt like it needed another chapter to make it perfect. I like Daddy/Boy dynamics, and this was as cute as they come! Ms Marie didn't disappoint!
Loved this sexy, sweet, sensual story between a tattoo artist looking for his baby boy. Loved how nervous and sweet Ollie was as he was getting to know AJ and figuring out what he should wear.
2.5* rounded up. This was a freebie which is basically a guy who likes frilly undies and occasionally women's clothes who kind of develops a relationship with his burly tattoo artist who gets excited when he sees some pink lace undies and starts dropping hints that he gets off on more feminine things, but Oliver isn't sure HOW far the guy is into it. This involves the Daddy kink, but not Daddy/LittleBoy exactly. It's not covered all that much.
My problem was not the relationship or the frilly girly angle, mine was the tattoo details. I think he only waits a few days (in one case 2 weeks) between appointments for a large piece. Having just had 3 hours of work done on my leg 2 weeks ago I am probably more aware of the details than most readers. I guess the 2 weeks between sessions is on the border of acceptable (I still have lots of healing areas on mine and would not be looking forward to more today but depends) but after he's done he just puts his shirt on. No covering the tattoo and after working on his back, he takes him home and lays him down... on his back. I'm sorry but my leg hurt like a bitch and I have a very high pain threshold. Laying on your back on a freshly inked piece that has not been covered? The guy did not appear to be a masochist. LOL So I kept thinking about that stuff and less about the relationship.
But given my recent experience with tattooing, my opinion is probably more critical than if I could have just "gone with the flow" so don't let me influence your decision. If the Daddy kink, lacey undies and tattoos are your thing, go for it.
New to me author. This is a short contemporary mm novella about AJ, a tattoo artist Daddy and Oliver a lingerie wearing boy, looking for a daddy. I'll read this author again.
This is fine. It's a freebie little short story about a tattoo artist and a client and the story itself is fine. My issue is the details about tattoos that are in it. As someone with probably upwards of 100 hours of tattoos you can't go back for a second session in a week. So the guy getting a tattoo is getting a huge piece and not only do the details in the writing make it sound like each session is only a couple hours max, but it also talks about how it's only like a week or two between these massive sessions and that's just unrealistic. If it's going to be a multi-session tattoo your sessions are going to be between 4 and 6 hours and you're going to have to wait a half to amount of time for that to heal before you can get more ink done. Other than that, this book is fine. Did I say fine already. It's pretty much how I feel. I'm going to forget about it and probably 2 hours and I probably won't reread it.
Short and sweet story of two men who find they have complimentary kinks - one is femme and loves to dress in pretty things, the other is a big muscular man who just wants to find a boy to be his.
Freebie from author as part of kinky m/m author giveaway
I’ve been dipping my toes in books where men wear lingerie. This novella had a bit of age play too. I liked it. I would love to read more about Oliver & A.J! See how their relationship develops.
Give me a full story about these two. Omg, it was too cute with a such a large size gap that I need more. Not to mention a sweet Daddy Dom who just happens to be into femme littles.
The only niggle for me was the fact that Ollie got a tattoo that goes from his arm, around his back and shoulders, onto his collar bone, but was able to be put on his back to have sexytimes. I mean just a quick ouch would have worked for me.
This has a couple of tropes that make me swoony, a hunky lumberjack type man attracted to a slender fem twink, and also a man in lingerie. Love. It. AJ, a tattoo artist, and Oliver, a client, are immediately attracted to each other, especially when AJ spies a glimpse of pink undies poking out the top of Oliver's jeans. Gorgeously sexy, this short story is a satiny sweet read.
It was such a sweet story. Likeable characters. Not a big plot on it but it was quite enjoyable. I think it's the first thing I read from the author but, by how I liked it, I'm sure it won't be the last.
This was a sweet, sexy short story that I felt ended too abruptly. Could’ve used an epilogue, honestly. AJ is a tattoo artist who owns his own shop, Skin Deep. Oliver is a young multimillionaire getting a tattoo. They’re into each other. The whole short is basically AJ and Oliver flirting with each other over the course of three appointments that AJ does Oliver’s tattoo. They also get to know each other a bit at these appointments, which soon makes it clear that these two are very compatible with each other. AJ is a Daddy Dom who likes to take care of his boys and also likes his boys to be into pretty things. Oliver happens to be a boy who very much likes pretty things. It seems like a match made in Heaven, really. And the sexual tension ratches up each appointment, until finally Oliver’s tattoo is finished and one of them will have to make a move. This was just really sweet and I enjoyed it. AJ and Oliver were great and their flirting was cute. I really would’ve liked to see an epilogue of the two of them at some point in the future. The current ending leaves them in a nice place, but it is pretty abrupt. All in all, would recommend.
I love boys in lingerie. Pair that with a burly tattoo artist and yes, please. Give me more! I loved the tease of AJ catching a glimpse of Ollie's pink panties and how things developed between them during the course of AJ inking Ollie's tattoo. Ollie was adorable. Loved when he was trying to decide what to wear.
Nicely written short story. Both characters, AJ and Oliver, were very likable. This story was just a bit too short for me. I was really getting into the flow and enjoying watching their relationship begin its first tentative steps, but then it abruptly ended. The remaining third of the book was just a preview of an upcoming release. Those pages could have been better used to enhance this story.
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow- Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile' or ‚Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the at he kids' series from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or 'Liberty' from Seth King), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey’s books) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times a year (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader, maybe 2-3 times a year. It’s like a B
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time- reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok). It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
This short does a great job at the beginning steps of building a relationship. Both Oliver and AJ imagine finding someone to be in a relationship with, but with their rather specific needs they have resigned that it probably won't happen. The two are attracted to each other at the first meeting but between keeping it professional (AJ as he is the tattoo artist) and fear of judgement (Oliver as he is wearing the feminine clothes) they don't go to far with it. Light flirting ensues but they each need to have the courage to go one step further and show what they really want and need if this can go any further. It was a very sweet story with a slow build between the two as they work up trust through their conversations and flirting in the successive appointments. Very cute!
I loved it!! I need more. More of AJ and more Oliver. Heck anything by Carly Marie. Their interactions were beautiful and I’d love to have them in a longer book or get more of Skin Deep world. How does the author keep giving us characters I love so much and never want to leave?? I know I’m keeping a lookout for whatever she gives us next.
SKIN DEEP was just a glimpse into how these two guys meet with just a HFN at the end, but it perfectly fit the timeline. While their kink isn't really my thing, it's obvious how much they care about each other and that was really sweet.
The ending was way too abrupt, and I was uncomfortable with some of the characterization.
I enjoyed this, it was sweet, but it felt a bit stereotypical, and leaving it when they just got together was annoying. I would check out other books by this author.
