Amish country girl Hannah Lapp lives for adventure—the kind found in favorite novels and the stories she secretly writes. And at her family’s popular tourist store, she’s fascinated by the different Englischers she meets. Especially when Marcus Jackson comes to town. She’s sure there’s more to the ex-city boy than his quiet, helpful ways, and she’s curious to find out just what it is . . .
Marcus fled Chicago before his brothers’ life of crime ruined his future. He’s not sure exactly why God’s plan brought him to this quaint little town. Or why his growing friendship with the bubbly, inquisitive Hannah has him trusting her with his past. But when local stores are robbed and suspicion falls on Marcus, can he and Hannah come together to prove his innocence—and make their own happy-ever-after ending?
Lisa Jones Baker grew up near a small Amish town in Illinois that she frequented with her family on weekends. She's also a dog lover and a fan of Scottsdale, Arizona, where she spent nearly two decades. Lisa graduated from Illinois State University with a French major, has been on 5 out of 7 continents, and considers her parents the best in the world. Raised in a Christian home, Lisa has always been blessed with love and support.
Promise at Pebble Creek is the sixth book in Lisa Jones Baker's Hope Chest of Dreams series. It follows the love story of Hannah Lapp and Marcus Jackson. Hannah is a kind, cheerful, and family-oriented young woman. She works at her family's store, Amish Edibles, and secretly enjoys reading and writing adventure stories. When Englischer Marcus Jackson moves to Pebble Creek, the two form an instant friendship. Marcus fled Chicago before his brothers' life of crime ruined his future. He has recently accepted Christ into his life and wants to serve him as faithfully as he can. He ends up renting a place on Hannah's family land and becomes great friends with her brother Ben. Meanwhile, the friendship between Hannah and Marcus is turning into love, but can they have a future together? They both turn to God for help and guidance as they decide what to do about their relationship.
This is a sweet and heartwarming Amish romance of having faith and trusting God for the next step. The story is well-written, easy to read, and has a good pace. This was my first time visiting Pebble Creek, and I instantly fell in love with the charming and peaceful countryside setting and enjoyed learning about the roles the other characters played in making Pebble Creek the magical place it is today. Hannah and Marcus are both wonderful characters and you can't help but root for them. I thought Hannah's love of adventure novels added a fun layer to the story. I also really liked the friendship between Ben and Marcus. Ben really supported him and helped him grow in his new faith. Overall, I thought this was a wonderful read with a powerful message woven into it. I look forward to spending more time in Pebble Creek.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I loved going back to Pebble Creek. I am a little bit sad that this is book 6 of the series the final book. However I loved Hannah and Marcus' story. You will love this romance and you are sure to want to read the first five in the series. You can read these books as stand alones but why when you read them altogether you get to spend more time at pebble Creek. I gave this book 4 stars and I recommend the whole series. The Mary Reader received this book from the publisher for review. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are our own.
Promise at Pebble Creek is the sixth and unfortunately final book in the Hope Chest of Dreams series. I have read every book in this exciting series and I would recommend you to do so as well to get the full enjoyment from the series and get the updates on the characters but the books can be read as stand alones as well. This book has been a warm welcome diversion I've enjoyed getting lost in the past several days as I've once again been transported back to wonderful Pebble Creek. I very much enjoyed reading about the romance between Amish woman, Hannah Lapp and Englisher newcomer Marcus who fled Chicago before his brothers’ life of crime ruined his future. He's drawn by Hannah's bubbly and outgoing personality but will the community accept this non Amish newcomer into their midst when suspicion strongly falls on his shoulders for recently occurring robberies? I am sorry to see this enjoyable series come to an end but look forward to the next series the author will release. Pub Date 28 Apr 2020 I was given a complimentary copy of this book. Thank you. All opinions expressed are my own.
This is book number 6 in The series I believe. And I am Sad to say It was Just an ok book for me. Yes It had a lot of what I personally expect from an amish book. romance., family dynamics etc etc. But It Just felt weak. with that being said I appreciated The Main characters. their ability to see beyond their belief and their perspective on life. Thank you to netgalley for this digital copy in exchange for an honest review
Promise at Pebble Creek is the 6th book in this heartwarming series. I have enjoyed each of the novels but this one was my favorite because the characters were instantly likeable and the storyline was so sweet. Hannah Lapp is a happy, kind young lady who manages the Lapp family store that is a tourist attraction in her Amish Community. She is also a huge fan of adventure novels but that’s kind of a hush-hush thing because it’s not really something her family and community engage in. I thought that added a fun twist to the storyline.
I love how fascinated Hannah is with the Englischer clientele who shop there but there is one Englischer in particular who really catches her eye named Marcus Jackson. Only Marcus isn’t just a random customer, he is a new resident. This is a tender story as their friendship blossoms and as they get to know each other and discover what they both want in life.
Overall, I thought this was a sweet novel of faith and new beginnings. It’s a quick read and perfect to take you away to a wonderful community where you’re sure to meet down to earth characters who will seem like friends. I received a complimentary copy of this book but was under no obligation to write a positive review. All opinions are completely my own.
This is a nice read about a lady who works in her Amish craft shop and a new man in town.
While the story is about kind and helpful people in the rural area, I thought an opportunity was lost. Near the end there is a chance for the story to move to a suburban or urban area and we could see from the Amish point of view how this would look. Where did the lady go during her youth and rumspringa? Did she go to the city? Has she ever seen or experienced what she would be asking a man to give up to live with her? If she offers to go to the outside, why was her generous offer ignored by the author? This is a chance for someone to expand her life experience and truly evaluate what life she wants to lead and where she wants to live. Instead, nothing happens. If I am writing and a character makes me that kind of offer, to compare and contrast, I take them up on it.
Good romance for those who enjoy a quiet read with not many surprises. I had not read earlier books in the series, but those who did may enjoy this more.
Also, a man hides a craft item at the top of the hill for his wife's 60th wedding anniversary. And expects his wife who had reared children and done heavy farm and house work for most of her life, to go find it. Tell him sod off and spare her poor knees; spare her the risk of falling and breaking a hip. Give her breakfast in bed.
I downloaded an e-ARC from Net Galley and Fresh Fiction. This is an unbiased review.
I received the copy from netgalley. for me it was short story. but they say the good one's are alway's to short. I love this story. I couldn't put it down. I haven't reas many from Lisa and what I have read are wonderful. I loved all the character's but of course my favorite was Hannah Lapp.. cause she lives for adventure. I love the relationship between Hannah and Marcus. I hope you get your copy.
This is the 6th book in the wonderful Hope Chest of Dreams series. Lisa Jones Baker is amazing at keeping you interested from book 1 to 6. This book show how will a little faith in people and God you can see your dreams come true. I enjoy how she keeps all the characters in all the series even Sam. With every book I feel like I am at Pebble Creek. Hope you enjoy as much as I did.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the series, Hope Chest of Dreams. I’m happy that author Lisa Jones Baker chose to continue it with the children now grown to adulthood.
A charming, heartwarming story, Jones Baker wrote well developed characters who you’ll come to love. Believing in God and giving people a second chance is the common thread throughout.
The simple life in Pebble Creek is well described. So much so that I’d love to go visit and stay awhile. Maybe Hannah would tell me how to make her raspberry jam! If you want a relaxing, enjoyable read then I suggest picking up a copy of Promise at Pebble Creek.
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
An easy read but I didn’t like the strict nature of her district - the lack of physical touch bothered me. It’s a love story and for me, I feel like the main character left something to be desired. They can’t even hold hands? I did like the storyline but had expected a little more of a romantic feel.
Here is a nice story of Hannah, an Amish maedal, and Marcus, an English man, who left his brothers, in Chicago, because of their bad decisions. BUT, will his status of an Englisher and outsider, cause him to become the suspect of the robbery, in the local bakery. Rumors will fly and Hannah will defend him. Read this novel and watch the relationship of Hannah and Marcus develop, with the highs and lows of love outside the community. It was difficult to get going into this story, but keep going and you will be glad you did
Promise At Pebble Creek ( Hope Chest of Dreams #6 ) By: Lisa Jones Baker Promise At Pebble Creek is book six in the series of Hope Chest of Dreams. I love the story and the characters, both were well written and well developed. This is Hannah and Marcus story. Hannah is an Amish country girl who lives for adventure and loves to meet new people. Marcus is a new comer to Pebble Creek and she is fascinated with his. There are some strange things that start to happen in Pebble Creek. This story is believe in God and second chances. I was not disappointed . This is a clean heartwarming story . I was given a complimentary copy of this book, but was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
This is a book you definitely want to read. I loved this story from beginning to end. This is the best book I have read all year. I love the Characters especially Hannah. Lisa writes great books and you will not be disappointed in this one.
A sweet story about a young, Amish woman, Hannah Lapp who runs the town's "Amish Eatables". She has a new, Englischer customer, Marcus Jackson, who has just become a Christian and is very eager to make friends. He ends up renting a place on Hannah's family land and their friendship becomes closer as they begin to explore the possibility of making their relationship last. I enjoyed this very endearing story of Hannah and Marcus. I would recommend it to anyone who loves this type of romance.
I love Amish books and this one is a great read. If you are new to Amish stories then this one may seem a little hard to read but if you give it a chance you will love it. I will be adding this one to my Amish collection.
Promise at Pebble Creek is the 6th and final book in the Hope Chest of Dreams Series. I highly recommend them all. They are all very heartwarming and touching. They make you feel part of Pebble Creek. It's a place I'd love to live. This was one I didn't want to end. Maybe it was the fact I knew it was the last of the series. Very good book.
I loved this book!! Great story!! Wasn't confused by not reading the other books in the series!! 2nd story I have read by this author!! Will read more of her books!! Received this book from Kensington books from netgally!!
I always love going back to Pebble Creek and revisiting friends while making new ones. The characters were well done and there was a good mystery plot as well. The storyline does a great job of addressing the issue of struggling with faith and looking to God for guidance and having faith.
So will Marcus and Hannah be able to rely on God's answers and promises? You will have to pick up a copy of the book and find out! Happy reading!

I fall in love more every time I read a book from this author. She has you really seeing what she is talking about. I sure hope this series never ends. Can't wait for the next book. Great writing Lisa.
Lisa Jones Baker has become one of my favorite authors. I have enjoyed every Pebble Creek book I've read. Promise at Pebble Creek is the last book in the series and I hate to see it end. If you haven't read any of Lisa's book, you're missing a treat.
Hannah Lapp is a sweet Amish girl who has her own mind. She runs a bakery called Amish Edibles; she meets a handsome Englischer named Marcus Jackson at her bakery. They become friends over a jar of Raspberry Jelly. Her life is turned upside down after meeting Marcus. Sometimes God works in our lives in a way that makes us think outside the box.
Marcus has some deep rooted secrets and pain that he's trying to work through. He lived in a big city before the Lord sent him to the Amish country. Ben Lapp, Hannah's brother, is quiet and reserved, but he notices everything. He doesn't have a college degree like Marcus does, but he is very intelligent. He plays a big part in Marcus' life.
To find out how God makes Hannah & Marcus think outside the box, and what Marcus' secrets are, and how Ben helps Marcus sort out his life....... you have to read the book. Happy Reading.
Enter a world immersed in God’s creation—sun and clouds, fields and open spaces, animals and birds . . . and Pebble Creek. Where peace and trust in the Lord rule. Where simple pleasures are appreciated (homemade raspberry jelly, for instance!) and folks take time to stop and smell the flowers. Where family binds together and love is honest and pure. That is the wonderful escape I found in this heartwarming romance. On a deeper level, the story does a great job of addressing the issue of struggling with faith and looking to God for guidance. Its pages are filled with beautiful reminders of the cross.
Good read enjoyed it very much so, kept you wondering what was going to happen to the couple that came from different lives . It was also interesting to read about the town she wrote about because it isn't far from where I live and I know the area . and I have been to the quilt shop she was talking about in the acknowledgments .
I just love Lisa Jones Baker and her Pebble Creek stories! Hannah is a thoughtful young woman and I really enjoyed her outlook on life. I definitely love her because she's a reader just like me! I also loved her wisdom on church people. Not all church members are perfect and neither are the uppity ones who think they are better than others. Marcus is another great main character. And Oh my!! His personality is just the sweetest and kindest thing! I sort of thought that he was over excited about certain things in the book however but still....I know that God will use him just as He does all of his children. I loved this book immensely! It's a great way to end an awesome series although I am sad to see it end because I did make friends. But I can revisit from time to time. All the characters are truly beautiful and flawed. We all are. It's what I love about redemption and forgiveness and honesty all wrapped up into one. Here is one of Old Sam's Proverbs that was mentioned from Hannah's mom and it goes like this " Love's power to forgive is stronger than hate's power to get even." And I love this one e even more from Hannah's mom "Because Jesus died on the cross so we could all be forgiven and have eternal life." Sometimes things happen in life that we don't have control over and then we forget to ask God what we should do. But then,we get angry at Him because of what happened. I just couldn't put this book down! Baker has really outdone herself on this one! She even adds just a little bit of mystery to keep things that much more interesting!! I highly recommend this book. My thanks to the author for a complimentary copy of this book. NO compensations were received. I was NOT required to write a positive review of this book. All opinions are my own
Marcus Jackson is new in town. He walks into Amish Edibles looking for peanut butter and jelly to make sandwiches. What he found was so much more.
Hannah Lapp’s family owns Amish Edibles and she works in the store. A friendship quickly formed between the handsome English man and the beautiful and kind Amish woman. Marcus, being new in town, needed a place to live so Hannah suggested he talk to her brother Ben. Ben and his wife had a small house for rent.
Marcus soon became fast friends with Ben and his family. He went to work for Ben. Went to church with the Lapp family. Being a new Christian, Marcus welcomed Ben’s counseling.
One problem developed between Marcus and Hannah and neither knew what to do about it. They loved each other. She couldn’t be with him unless she left her faith which she definitely did not want to do. He couldn’t be with her unless he gave up his Chevy (a connection between him and his deceased father) which he did not want to do.
So, what becomes of them? Can they find a way to be together? You’ll have to read their story to find the answers to these questions. Thank you Lisa Jones Baker for allowing me to travel back to Pebble Creek in this sweet love story.

Lisa Jones Baker has given us the final tale in the Hope Chest of Dreams series, Promise At Pebble Creek, by sharing Hannah and Marcus' story with us.
This is such a wonderful, well-written story. Marcus has family issues and flees to Pebble Creek from Chicago, his brothers, and their life of crime. He has no idea as to why he has come to this little town, but after finding a new life in Christ, he knows God has a reason for him to be there.
Shortly after entering the town, he stops at Amish Edibles to pick up peanut butter, jelly and bread to make sandwiches for him to take to his new job that just happens to be working for Hanna's brother. This is the beginning of a new friendship.
Marcus ends up renting a cottage from Ben and he quickly becomes entwined with the Lapp family.
As time progresses we are reminded of stories of Pebble Creek and the people that have become a part of our lives because of this series.
The question remains, can Marcus give us things dear to his past to embrace a future with Hannah and her beloved family and community.
You will be unable to put down this last and best of the Hope Chest of Dreams series.
I was given an ARC by the author for an honest review. I am happy to give Promise At Pebble Creek a 5-star endorsement.
