A fast-paced, action packed adventure, by USA Today Bestselling author Charlene Hartnady.

We can’t help who we are. Some things are preordained. I was born half god and half dragon shifter. We call ourselves the dragon demigods. Mortal, powerful, arrogant as sh!t.

Being a dragon demigod has definite perks. Perks we have to be very careful about using, since the humans don’t know about our existence. We’re able to shift into dragon form. We have unique powers. Lastly, we’re attractive to the human race. Handy, since we live among them. Unlike others of my kind, I inherited one of those traits.

Only one.

Thing is, I’m okay with that. More than okay. I’m talented at what I do. I own my own custom workshop. I like to get my hands dirty. There is only one rule at my place of business. I never deal directly with the clients. I’m a moody bastard. A loner. Happiest when under the hood of a car. I never once broke my rule, until the day she walked into my shop.

How could he have done this? I should be sad. I should be grieving but I’m not. All I can feel is angry. My brother killed himself because he owed a lot of money to the worst kind of people and now, they’re after me. They want payment one way or another. For the last couple of weeks, all I’ve done is exist. Running from one place to the next. These murderous gangsters are right on my tail. They’re slowly catching up to me. It won’t be long and they’ll have me. Just when I think it can’t get any worse, my car breaks down. That’s when I meet him. A beast of a man. He’s rude. He’s conceited. He might be exactly what I need to get out of this mess.

No cheating! Contains hot alpha males and therefore strong sexual themes/language.

The Demigods, the offspring of the Gods and Dragon Shifters.  A must read.  Love it!!

Poor Ava runs into so many problems after she finds out that her brother committed suicide.  A long time addict it seemed plausible.  But little did she know that the owner of the casino where she worked had something to do with it.  He had a plan that involved Ava.  Her only recourse was to run and run fast and far away.
She runs into some problems when her car quits on her but luckily it's close to a town.  Little did she know that this town was where the Demigods were.  She tries to get help but with no cash to pay for it to be fixed, she appeals to Forge.  He happens to be the Lord of Fire.
The Demigods made a promise as youngsters that they would never seek out a mate or have offspring.  Since their childhoods were very hard on them never to have known their fathers.  They were the unwanted breed.
Such an action filled book in getting to know the Demigods that see themselves as brothers so unified.  But there is an unexpected occurrence with the owner of the casino.  So much drama and action that Forge decides he has to help Ava.  Things get oh so hot with the two of them. The brothers are not happy about it but when they realize what the casino owner is, they all join together to protect her.
This book is a definite page turner and can't put down.  I lost sleep wanting to finish the book.  I am looking forward to other books of the Demigods.
Charlene Hartnady did a tremendous job in writing this book. This is a must read.  Don't hesitate, get it.  I totally fell in love with the Demigods.

I am volunteering to leave an honest review for an ARC of this book.

DNF. So! many! Exclamation! Marks! Holy! Fuck! Shit! No! I’m sure you get the point. 55 pages in and I’m still not hooked. Still very confused and just not interested. Sorry but gtg for now. Might revisit in the future as it has good ratings but for now catch ya on the flip

Ok so I have now read and finished this book. The exclamation marks slowed down. And I’m no longer rating it a two 🌟. It’s a three star 🌟 lol. It was just a bit jumpy for me and such little detail. I felt very disconnected to everything that was going on. But at the same time I wouldn’t mind reading the next book in the series.... it’s clear I am somewhat conflicted.

Lord of Fire is the first delicious book in the The Dragon Demigods series. Sexy Demigod shifters who have sworn to a life alone.

That is until unsuspecting women in need fall on their radar. meet the one and their lives are changed forever. But there are dramas along the way. A fun and angsty journey starts.

While each book can be enjoyed as a standalone, it's best to read them in order to fully appreciate the rich paranormal elements and exciting themes they offer.

The characters are fun and loving, but what they discover more than they ever imagined.

Strong, sexy alpha males!

DNF'd around 15%. With an overabundance of explanation points, corny dialogue, and unbelievable premise (this coming from someone who loves reading fantasy and alien romances), this book was just not for me.

Oy. So good characters, good storyline.. But oh man...
The answer to: How many tropes do you want?
Should not be: YES.

Issues:

he doesn't know his "magical" power... until her.

She doesn't know her power/ that she has a non-human status... Until him.

Mafia threats that make no sense.

Everyone has mysterious, literally - 'who's the daddy issues' (Wooooohuuuhooo - wiggles fingers like Mentok the Mindtaker).

Dude crew, who made a totally wacky nonsensical childhood pact as a plot device. Will he break this nonsensical pact for her? STAY TUNED TO FIND OUT...

Characters (of the dude crew) with super weird names. Listen, you meet someone called Forge, you're going to ask, so what's your real name? Forge tells you, hey baby I got some dragon in me. Your response is not going to be 'cool cool, he's sexy, totally believable.. show me your scales dude with comic book name'.

The Duh = ever see Mitchell and Webb's "The Look" skit - Identity Killer? (cops show up to crime scenes with dead bodies, and stand around wondering who the killer is - while the killer is clearly obvious...As in, one scene, the dead body is wearing a t-shirt stating "I was killed by" with the killer's photo on the shirt"). It's a similar duh. The main characters sit around wondering who and what the villain is.. Can you imagine if some dude called Sup Erman was a character and everyone is thinking hmmm he's an odd one, what's his story - but no one figured it out?

It's a shame. Good idea for a book, technically well written.. But the tropes. Sigh.

You MUST read this series❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Lord of Fire is the first story in a brand new series by Charlene and it is simply put OUT OF THIS WORLD❣️I could not put it down and if you are a paranormal lover like me, then this is the next book you want to read😱

Forge is a custom designer and a moody guy, but when a sweet woman asks him for help when her car breaks down - he eventually helps her....but everything is not as it appears🤩 Absolutely sucked me into the story and I fell in love with the characters and all paranormal elements too - I can’t wait to read the next one😍

I was entertained, but it’s quite a simple story & didn’t seem to be fully fleshed out. I didn’t connect with the characters much, but there were some good moments. I thought it ended pretty abruptly too. I probably won’t be picking up the next one.

4.5* + fav’s list

I read this series a couple of years ago, but never got around to writing reviews about it. Honestly, I was obsessed back then and loved every second of it. And I kind of needed something that would male me feel good again, so I decided to do a re-read and finally write some of my thoughts and opinions on this great series.
I know that when I first read it, I didn’t expect to love it so much, but it hooked me from the beginning and this is still true. I realized I didn’t remember much of the details of this story, but I remembered enough to know it was one of my favorites in the series, even though it’s quite short.
I honestly wish this was a longer book, because this couple and their backstories are to die for. They have so much chemistry and provide so much entertainment from the very beginning. And I loved discovering this new fantasy concept together with the heroine. She was strong, resilient and quite funny. The hero was gruff and grumpy, but with a true hart of gold. Their relationship was so cute and heartwarming.
This was back-then my first book by Charlene Hartnady and I really like how easy her writing was. Her world building was truly incredible and that was the only time that I heard about dragon demigods, even if I looked for something like that afterwards. I will truly enjoy reading this series again and getting back to this amazing urban-fantasy novel that made me smile the whole time.

I was so prejudice when going into this read and assumed the whole plot for this book but boy was I wrong!

It had a very good strong line, a good romance and good characters.

Trigger warning though there is a heavy theme of assault and rape.

If gods and dragon-shifters walked among us, what would their lives be like? Would they fall in love, or rage war with each other? In the Dragon Demigods series Charlene Hartnady explores the lives of Demigods, the children of both gods and dragon-shifters.

After the death of her brother, Ava is on the run with a debt-unpaid. Her casino-owner boss is closing in on her, and the last thing she needs is for her escape vehicle to break down. Luckily for her, across the road is a car mechanic. Unluckily though, this mechanic is anything but human. Forge is a Demigod who prefers to be left alone, and isn’t too happy about this human girl Ava calling him out on his rude and unhelpful behaviour.

Lord of Fire is a the first book in the Dragon Demigods series. At the time of writing this review, there is nine books in this series. Each book in the series is focused upon a different couple, expanding the world.

It’s a contemporary set paranormal romance involving shapeshifters. There is very little shapeshifting in this novel, however the plot does focus around the use of other magical abilities (I won’t say to avoid spoilers!). Suffice to say that each character in the Demigod group has their own unique abilities.

Lord of Fire is a short novel at only 217 pages long; don’t expect this book by itself to be too deep. However Charlene has shown that the world and characters in the series as a whole can grow and develop richly. Neither Ava or Forge go through any fundamental character growth, however their personalities do develop as the book progresses.

I found the beginning events of the book seemed unbelievable, with characters continually being in the right place at the right time, however I really enjoyed how Charlene carried this luck (or lack thereof) to the world-building (no spoilers!).

Charlene Hartnady has a uniquely fun writing style with snappy dialogue and interesting prose. The descriptions are so often minimal, and yet can be vividly imagined.

I won’t stand a chance if I’m on my own. I might just live for one more day if I’m with Grizzly bear over there. The big meanie owes me for trying to steal my car. Because that’s what he’s doing.

This is definitely a book for mature readers; it touches on some delicate topics such as sexual assault and rape, and includes detailed consensual sexual scenes. Despite the questionable topic matters, the overall feeling of this book is relatively lighthearted. The characters, whilst initially unwilling, work together to overcome threats and problems. It’s definitely an “us vs the world” book.

If you are looking for an author with snappy dialogue, interesting prose, and an overall fun read, then Lord of Fire definitely fits the bill.

I personally enjoyed this book for its light and fun read. The world-building left me hungry for more, and I’ll definitely be reading more of this series.

Heather's Notes
This was not a bad first book. I really liked Ava and Forge but boy were they obviously. I figured out Sly was a demigod almost immediately. I also figured out Ava was a demigod and would get pregnant while they were promising not to. Hello it was obvious. Still I liked the books and will probably read the next one. Which will be Night's book because he said he would not be one to break the "pact" so of course he is noxt

This is a little more over-the-top than I normally go for, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The hero is a half dragon shifter/half Greek god (son of Hephaestus) who made a pact with all his dragon-demigod pals to never mate and have children. He meets Ava, who is being chased by a crazy also-non-human-dude who's obsessed with having her, and ends up helping her against his better judgement, and the relationship builds from this protector role he takes on.

Despite not being my usual style, I thought the book was really fun to read. The pacing is good, and it's easy to just fly through this in one or two reading sessions. Sometimes the story does feel a bit rushed, though. Lots of chapters skip ahead weeks. The cast of characters was interesting, although more surface than depth. I think the author did a good job of setting up the series without taking too much time away from the main characters in this one, though.

I do think the story itself feels a little YA-ish, with just a few steamy things thrown in at the end in an attempt to age it up a bit. And Forge's character changes a little too much as the story goes on in my opinion. I loved the gruff growly guy we meet in the beginning, but I think he softens a bit too much by the end.

Overall, I think it's a nice, little read. Not as dark as a typical shifter book, and light on the steam. But it's a fun way to spend an afternoon or two. I'm not sure if this is a series I would want to binge, but I'd definitely pick up more when I just want something light and fun to get through.

I have really enjoyed this book! As the first book of The Dragon Demigod series Lord of Fire has me excited for book two! Fantasy creatures obviously aren’t reality ,but by adding just the perfect light smattering of them when describing a world that readers relate to the author has become the architect to something new, refreshing and enticing. The only two somewhat negative critiques that I can even mention are not necessarily issues that everyone would recognize. 1: The software that I use doesn’t understand random punctuation marks so it then reads what is on the proverbial paper. I hear “dash” word “dash a lot. 2: I often listen to at least an entire series and usually all series from that author one after another. I find that when describing scenes that often occur many times in a book such as sex scenes they can be a bit repetitive using the exact same words to describe the feeling or action. Both are very minute issues or nonissue should I say.

Charlene Hartnady is quickly becoming one of my “go to authors”. She’s a beast in her own respect when tasked with creating an interesting scene, snappy prose, compelling characters, and the plots are always moving. There’s no doubt that this author writes sexual encounters that are next level steamy.
The Character writing is exquisite as I’ve come to associate with Charlene Hartnady’s writings.

Finally, in short if you’re looking for a new series or author I HIGHLY recommend!

Holly Cow This was Excellent!

I love this author. Her world building is amazing, even the detail in her characters. I loved this story. Loved all the characters, well except for Sly. But he's the villain and I'm aloud to hate him lol and I do.
This is a spin on Dragon shifters with gods/demigods and I'd give this book 10 stars if I could. Slow build of romance. Plenty of action. A hint of a mystery. Yes please!
I'm totally in love with our hero Forge. So grumpy and yet has that yummy sweetness that finally shows :) And he's a ginger with a beard.... yum!
The lead female is Ava and boy did she find herself in a mess. But with everything awful thing that happened she stayed strong even when all she wanted to do was cry. Thank you Charlene Hartnany for making Ava a strong believable 30 year old woman. I was so happy she wasn't a whiney 19-20 yr old. You are one of my favorite One-Click authors and your writing/stories keep getting better and better :D

I highly recommend

I liked the twists and turns. Stories about gods, dragons, etc. are always welcome on my shelves. It's a solid read with manly men, sassy females, and bad guys.

Ava finds herself in a pickle when her brother commits suicide and leaves her with his debt. She has not nearly enough time to gather a big amount of money... or pay another way if you know what I mean. She chooses to run instead and finds herself asking a bear of a man for help with her broken-down car. And he's about the only one who can actually help her, not just with her vehicle.

He's a dragon demigod, a mixed species of power, and with an attitude bigger than himself. His name is Forge and he finds himself helping the strange woman who smells like his favorite cookies. She's running from a bad guy and found a more dangerous group.

During her journey, she'll find out things she never thought were possible, about the world and herself. And in the midst of the chaos and running for her life, she'll find a real home, a real family, love. There are surprises waiting until the very last chapter.

Mean beard and ginger bear

Such a great new series! I love the god twist. You get to have more fun with powers and drama when demigods and gods are involved. Ava is on the run after her brothers death leaves her in a bind. Her car breaks down in front of Forge's shop and their first meet goes terrible. Forge is a grumpy ol grizzly bear who refuses to help her until after she leaves because he is intrigued since she put him in his place and was not afraid of him. She is thrust into his world and ends up finding out more than she bargained for. The tension between her and Forget is palpable only Forge refuses to take it to the next level because of a stupid oath which to him becomes void when he learns something about Ava's past. The scenes between them after he finally gives in are explosive and worth the wait. A great read and I can't wait to dive into the other guys books to see how things play out for them considering all the crap they gave Forge and Ava.

🔹ARC kindly provided from the author for an honest review.🔹

At first I was like “this is gonna be a miss for me”.
There was just something so rushed about the beginning.
There were to many things to wrap your head around and you only got a few chapters and you had to feel all these emotions and I didn’t feel like they caught up with it.
But THEN - a fist fight happened outside a dragon mechanic’s shop and I was pulled in immediately.
Hartnady succeeds in a full storyline (however a bit flat) , cool paranormal beings and her books are light. Sometimes a bit too light (emotional wise), but plot wise, Hartnady always gets us from A to B.

Loved we got a ginger male lead 💪

Lord Of Fire: The Dragon Demigods Book 1
By Charlene Hartnady
Kindle unlimited purchase
Being a Dragon Demigod is hard, so hard, in fact, they took an oath to never take mates and children. But plans change. When ava walks into Forge's garage needing help with her car.
They fight what is going between them for so long that it is explosive when it finally does. (Like we knew it would.)
This is the first book in this series. It's such a great start I don't know how CH is going to top this book. Sorry, even though it takes a while to get there I recommend readers 18 years and older.

The Lord of Fire was amazing in the way the burly Dragon Demigod shifter was resisted to love because younger mistakes. Learning to except that the past is just the past and looking towards the future is a better option. The youthful pact made between friends realizing it was a stupid rash decision and the woman you love is there to show you how dumb it really was. I read this book nonstop without having to take a break that is how good it is and as a series I can say out of all the books this is my favorite, but Trident is my favorite character because he's a hoot. The sexual build up was a great plus side as well and the villain was also a great add to this story. The series is a great read!

Demigods and dragons

This seems to be a totally different world than what her other books are written in. This world has God's who impregnated dragon shifters. So now the men in this story are demigod/dragons.
Forge is the main hero of the story and Ava is the heroine. She is running from a man who says that she is either with him or she will be killed. Her car breaks down in front of Forge's body shop.
He is one of the demigods and him and his "brothers" took an oath never to find a partner and never to have children. So he can't give in to any feelings in may start to have while protecting her.

Loved it!!

When I saw the title and the cover photo I thought this book was gonna be a sequel to the Royal Dragon books following the royal's kids or whelps.... It wasn't. But wow I was so enthralled by the book from the beginning . Loved Ava , Forge and his brothers. These 2 had quite the journey . I hate waiting to see what's gonna happen with them next I want to know now😣😢😢 . Saying that I'm looking forward to Night's book and Triedent .
Who would've thought Demigods are a thing? I love how this author's brain work I love mythology and the way she joined gods and dragons I was taken into this new world that I can't wait to learn more about.

This is a fantastic new series by Charlene Hartnady! I wasn't sure what to expect, but I shouldn't have been worried because everything she writes is great!
Ava is on the run. Forge is a loner who works on cars. Of course they run into one another and sparks fly! These two are great together, and I love the different theme in this book than the others. It wasn't repetitive or similar, and it hooked me from the start. Make sure you have a comfy spot because you won't want to put it down until it finished! It'll keep you wanting more, and now I cannot wait until the next book!
I higy recommend reading this book.

***Hot as fire***

I've loved the Dragon bride series but I think I loved this series more. It's not as heavy as the former, it's witty, smart and enough heat to melt my knickers *grins* I love how Ava is not a pushed over and that she gave as much as she got. Forge is an absolute hottie pun intended *fanning myself sighs* his an absolute alpha all gruff and moody but has a heart of gold or might I say a gooey creamy center *coffs* I will never eat Oreo the same again hehe
This series is the bomb Its exciting and I can't wait for Night's eating his own word and also Trident the handsome playboy haha.

Awesome!!!

First book of dragon demigod was intriguing, kind of figured Ava was somewhat like Forge because just like him she never known her father. Oh that Sly got what he deserved, never thinking to be nice..no he wanted to dominate Ava and have her like a slave then throw her away when he got his son. I am happy for Forge and Ava, but now what's going to happen seeing that Ava is actually pregnant which is good, but how will the others take it. I guess we will find out when Night story comes out, I wander how he will behave when he meets the girl who takes his breath away..looking for that big fan as always Winzie19☺💞.

Soulmates

Forge was what I call grumpalicious, red hair, green eye, and a rocking body. He is also a demigod who can shift into a dragon. He's a loner who works on custom cars. Forge belongs to a brotherhood of dragon demigods who all have special powers. Then he meets Ava who is being stalked by her evil boss, Sly. Loved how Ava was rescued from Sly by Forge, who turned him into a crispy criter. Turns out Forge can project fire like a dragon. Turns out Ava is a decendant of a demigodess and she and Forge are soulmates. My only complaint is that it took too long for them to get together romantically.
