On an early-morning walk through the nature preserve on the east end of Folly Beach on their way to photograph the iconic Morris Island Lighthouse, Chris Landrum and his friend Charles Fowler’s peaceful morning takes an abrupt turn. They encounter a woman who tells them she got separated from her husband during a storm, then claims they’d been relic hunting. Her husband can’t verify what he and his wife were doing. He’s dead—murdered. With the horrific death on everyone’s mind, Theo Stoll, another of Chris’s friends learns his recently widowed daughter-in-law is moving to Folly saying she wants to be near her only living relative. But, what does the woman Theo has never met really want? A family connection or to con the wealthy retiree. Lies, contradictions, stories of ghosts, pirates, Civil War relics, and buried treasure, combine with no shortage of murder suspects to challenge Chris and his friends to solve the crime that’s stumped the police. Not only solve it but solve it before more are killed.

I am reading a real book ( not a Kindle). In this book Chris and Charles get right to the mystery. Page 9 already sees mysteries.

I received an ARC from the publisher at my request and this is my honest opinion. Relic is another great addition to a terrific series. The Folly Beach series always delivers on its promise of an intriguing mystery, plenty of surprises, awesome characters who feel like old friends by the time you have read the second or third book in the series, and a "bad guy" that you didn't see coming. I don't think I have ever figured out whodunit before the end. I have read almost all of the Folly Beach mysteries and Mr. Noel has yet to let me down. The only "bad" thing about the series is that once I've finished the last one I have to wait for Mr. Noel to write another. Sometimes that wait is very difficult. I miss my friends between visits. If you aren't acquainted with the people of Folly Beach you should be. You're missing out.

Always a pleasure

I've read every single one of the books in this series and when a new one comes out, I feel like I am doing reunited with old friends. Folly Island used to be a favorite vacation spot for my family years ago, so that makes this series even more special. The story is fun, the characters are always interesting, and it's a book to read while curled up in your favorite chair. It also gives hope to senior citizens as the main characters are in their late sixties and they still manage to get into trouble while sticking their noses in where they don't belong. Loved it and waiting anxiously for book 18.

Great mystery series!!

I've read all of the books in this series and you definitely want to read these in order to get the most out of these wonderful characters. I anxiously await each of these books! The only reason I didn't give this one a five star was the fairly large amount of typos and errors. This book was the only one I've noticed this in. Just thought the author should know so he can correct this in his future books in this wonderful, fun series. Love these characters and their relationships with one another! Can't wait for book 18!

Great Series

I really enjoyed this Folly Beach Series! Hopefully this won't be the last book! I live right across the river from Louisville, Ky and feel a kinship with Charles! Love Mr. Noel's humor.

Nice light mystery

I love Folly Beach, have been making memories on that stretch of sand for many decades! That alone was enough to draw me to this book, but it turned out to be a good diversion for a rainy day.

I love his books! I really like the quirky characters and feel as if Chris and Charles are friends. I have to admit I had a pretty good idea who the murderer was and the end proved me correct. There were other questions to be answered throughout that remained unsolved until the end.

I love this book series. The plots and dialogue are predictable, but the characters are endearing and I look forward to each new book.
