An excellent book for divers of the Caribbean. The logical next volume from the same team’s Reef Fish ID book. Read it before and during a dive trip to Cozumel. Written for the layperson or beginning ichthyologist.
Reminds me very much of David Sibley’s guide to Bird Life and Behavior but for fish. The first 1/3 is general behavior. The next 2/3 is made up of chapters on various families of reef fish. Makes it easier to identify and understand the fish you see by providing context and relationships.
It will change the way you view the reef. Gives you an appreciation for what everyone is up to. The jacket and pages seem water resistant if not water proof, so the book is a good field guide for a dive boat or live aboard vessel.
