Welcome to Spellbound, where paranormal is the new normal.
Thanks to Daniel's efforts as the director of tourism, the World Market is visiting Spellbound, giving residents of the formerly cursed town the chance to purchase merchandise they didn't know existed. When a bad-tempered werecougar ends up dead at the market, the fortune teller that predicted her death is the main suspect. As usual, though, Emma has another opinion on the matter and is determined to clear the suspect's name and keep Spellbound tourism from becoming another casualty.
With a new healer in town, seismic contractions, and a promise to recite Gareth's poem during the first annual poetry slam, Emma is teetering on the brink of an epic meltdown. Will she manage to identify the real culprit and safely deliver the baby or will the conniving killer bring a whole new meaning to the term labor pain?

Oh the joys of pregnancy are never ending (at least it feels that way)
Wonderful and I loved the way the shortfalls of being pregnant are used in the story and I must admit it did make me chuckle. A great plot - the town saviour and lawyer (married to the resident angel) and very, very pregnant has a case to solve (probably her last one before her maternity leave starts). A murder of one of the stall holders at the World Market that has come into town. The dead woman was aggressive, rude and obnoxious but she is sure that the person arrested isn't the killer. Magic potions, heartburn, evidence that others had fights with the dead woman, feeling like the largest whale in existence, a power hungry temp lawyer, a ghost vampire bent on keeping her healthy and a gorgeous angel are all woven into a plot that might be the end of her and her unborn child. Will they catch the killer? Will either the mother or child survive? Are there surprises and shocks to come?
As usual, I thoroughly enjoyed this story like I have from every book in this series. You know how some people say they wish they lived in the Harry Potter universe? I want to exist in Spellbound!!
She has to find out who there murderer is, no matter what her condition. She throws up on people, pees on the floor and trips everywhere. She gets insulted and says sweet things to the people who insult her over and over. She stumbles around until she finds out who killed who and thinks "I really need backup" or someone says she's crazy for going alone but she says "I'm so powerful I don't need anybody". Every single book she almost gets killed and someone has to happen by to save her. Does she ever learn? No, never does the story line change from book to book. The lowest self esteem and highest self delusion of any cozy heroine I've read. I know the author is stretching things to churn out more books, but please move it along character wise. It's free with Prime is all I can say. But the whole thing is boring me to death at this point. At least learn a few hard lessons or change up each book's plot a bit.
The residents of Spellbound now have the opportunity to revel in pop culture references and everyday minutia until a most inconvenient murder occurs. Swollen ankles, compromised balance, and imminent motherhood won't keep Emma off the killer's trail to save her husband's job and her client's freedom. I enjoy my visits to Spellbound and the characters there, but Emma seems to be regressing into inanity. In the last couple of books she has been a bit of a dingbat. Hopefully the end of the pregnancy will solve this, because Emma and Daniel (and Gareth!) will have their hands full with two new additions and an unlikeable potential career poacher!
Daniel bring the World Market to Spellbound so that the citizens see what is outside of their town But one of the sellers is found dead near her booth and Emma takes it upon herself to try and solve the woman's murder By now Emma is extremely ready for the birth of her child but that doesn't stop her There is a poetry contest that Gareth wants to enter but since he is a vampire ghost he gets Emma to recite his poem...which they don't get to finish The characters in this series are great not to mention humourous
.. Daniel is working hard at the World Market. A n idea he had to bring new ideas to Spellbound. But the stall holders seem to be causing more trouble than anything else.. there's the pies that made so many people ill, the werecougar who's pet stall also sells vitamins that prevent shifters from shifting, the fake potion psychic who makes it up as she goes along.. the council want to close the market and shut out outsiders once a body is discovered.. can Emma get to the bottom of the case before the baby comes?
I kept worrying about eclampsia with all that talk about swelling. I told myself that these characters are prone to hyperbole. I also doubt (as a tasseographer) that amaranth would remind anyone unfamiliar with tea leaf reading or the plant of a flower, a hand or hassle maybe. And when Emma "pops a petal into her mouth" , again, I doubt she'd think of one of the blossoms or clusters as a petal. That's what happens when real witches read paranormal cozy mysteries.

This will always be a top favorite series of mine but I hate that Emma constantly puts herself in danger. Thought it would be different because she was with child but no such luck. Of course Daniel says nothing because he’s so in love with her. Let’s not forget to mention her routine revelation of who the murderer is while having a causal conversation with someone. Ugh, but still I love it.
It's a page turner! Solving a murder while nine months pregnant is crazy to me. The funniest part is when Daniel (who has been on this earth a long time) never realized what all the nursery rhymes actually meant! Lmbo! I'm still giggling to myself about that. Annabel Chase does an amazing job with every book and each character, I seriously can't get enough of this series! On to the next!
Love the mysteries and surprises you always get with Ms. Chase’s stories, even though sometimes you can see the development, you never know when the bomb is going to drop.
The World Market Fair is in town and of course there is a mystery to solve, why should an advance pregnancy preclude the fun? Read on as Emma figures out who done it and see if you are right on your prediction.
It's world Market Day. There's a fortune teller who is really nasty. Things don't go well as five people are poisoned by blackbird pie. There's also a death and the reaction of the Council is to shut down the entire market.
There's also a birth, an unusual baby and a person from Emma's past shows up unexpectedly.
Still loving the further adventures of Emma and Daniel...and Gareth, hellcat and the rest. That was quite a little stinger on the end, so now I need to rush into the next book and find out what happens next! I'm afraid the author has acquired a new stalker ;)
I've loved every book in both Spellbound series, but the entire book aimed to make fun of Emma during her pregnancy. It seemed like every interaction with someone was about Emma's weight and how big she was during her pregnancy. It was off-putting reading the story and seeing all the fat jokes to a pregnant woman.
How do I wright this, and not tell you a huge spoiler?? Deep breath. Ok let's just say Emma had the baby, and is getting visited by others. But there is a surprise visitor at the end. Freaking cliffhangers, oh how I hate them so I'm of to read next book
Another great story in this series. With Emma heavily pregnant no-one wants her to rush about. But t That is not our Emma! Murder most confusing....so, any suspect, but Emma is determined to sort it all. At last - a HEA for Emma and Daniel.
Book 5 has humor, angst, murder, mystery, a very pregnant sorceress, a magic market, a bunch of suspects, and love. Emma is in the thick of things, even though she is fighting all the pregnancy problems. And a big surprise ending. Highly entertaining.
