Let s Read Math is about combining reading with math. The idea is to read a children s book, then do related math activities. The activities cover a wide variety of standards-based math topics. Each Funbook has math activities related to 16 different children s books. High-gloss covers fold out to reveal two full pages of punchout math manipulatives. For example, in Funbook 2 there are different combinations of ice cream cones, fish to count, roses for making bouquets, and fraction circles for exploring fraction equivalence. There are also prompts to encourage children to read and write about math, and to look for connections to math in the outside world. Funbook 2 is targeted to elementary grades K-4. (Funbooks 1 and 2 are at the same grade level. They are not sequential, so you can use Funbook 2 before or after Funbook 1.) The 16 featured books featured in Funbook 2 Amanda Bean s Amazing Dream, Apple Fractions, Chrysanthemum, Emeka s Gift, The Fly on the Ceiling, Graphs, How Much How Many...is 1000?, Math for All Seasons, Measuring Penny, Picture Pie, A Quarter from the Tooth Fairy, Shape Up!, Six-Dinner Sid, Spaghetti and Meatballs for All, The Sundae Scoop, and Wanda s Roses. Most books are available through Amazon.com. There is an accompanying guide for parents and teachers, sold Let s Read Funbook 2 Teacher s Guide. The guide has the answers, an overview of the math topics addressed in each lesson, teaching tips and lesson extensions. There are other Let s Read Math Funbooks for your review, Let s Read Funbook A (for primary grades K-2), Let s Read Funbook 1 (for elementary grades K-4), and Let s Read Advanced Funbook 1 (for upper elementary grades.)
