Every being has a true name, a name that must be held close with magic. To be born without magic means to lose one’s name, and a person without a name can’t survive: their soul splinters apart, piece by piece, until they die. The only salvation is servitude, hoping that a kind person will bestow a name and keep the Nameless soul in one piece—at the cost of freedom.

How many names has he had now? Far too many to remember. His new saviors are his only hope. They give him a name and a home, but navigating a household where he needs to please two people instead of one is far more complicated than he expected. He knows how to look pretty and how to be enticing—but he doesn’t know how to follow their contradictory orders and keep them both appeased.

He doesn't know how to keep the jealousy from eating at him as he watches these two men who are so in love. All he can do is mold himself to fit their ideals for the smallest scraps of affection.

If he doesn’t figure it out fast, he’ll die the same agonizing death that befalls any Nameless who is cast free for too long.

This M/M/m novel contains dark themes. Read at your own discretion.

I write almost exclusive m/m, but I have a fondness for bisexual protagonists. I enjoy a lot of darker themes, so you'll see a lot of that around here.

When I’m not writing, I’m reading, painting, playing video games, and rescuing cats. I also enjoy learning about languages and other cultures.

"When people said that nameless are a reflection of their masters - that's not just a ."
Wow, I thought Blue Storm was so well done!

WARNING: this book is not for everyone, so many of my friends can stop reading here.

But if you're interested in an unquestionably dark, disturbing and harrowing fantasy read, feel free to continue on, lol.

Instead of a review that gives away the plot, I think I'll give a list of triggers:

Just know that what seems obviously delineated at the beginning has its lines blurring as the story moves on. I loved that things weren't exactly as they seemed.

This book will make you think.

I saw a few reviewers mention that this is not a romance and I would mostly agree. I'll just say that I really liked how the author brought it all together in the end.

Happy reading my depraved friends! <3

Hmm... I find myself liking this story in spite of the plot not being likable.

Emotionally this book hits the middle ground between the futuristic sex fest in Acquainted with the Night and the horrific non-con torture porn in The Vessel: Nothing. It was almost too dark for me to enjoy, repulsive at times and yet I couldn't stop reading.

I loved the way it was written, solely from the point of view—and more importantly—limited to what the main character Blue Storm knows and sees of the world he lives in. It's a world where magic exists, and all living things need magic powers to stay alive. Blue Storm is one of those unfortunate to be born without magic abilities, and his very survival hinges on being picked by someone with magic to serve as their slave. Just like a rescue dog, the main character has been discarded by several previous owners and each time is closer to dying. Since it's a life or death situation for him now, he has to obey his new master no matter what is asked of him. Only this time he gets two new masters. How does a slave obey two people? Please two people? Make sure they both want to keep him so he's not discarded again?

Since the world building is limited to Blue Storm's experiences as an uneducated and low standing being, this is not a book rich with elaborate world building details. Most scenes play out indoors, inside the home. The drama that makes the story interesting is the constant updated survival strategy going on in Blue Storm's internal dialogue. And his reactions to the horrid treatment he receives as someone seen as less than human.

In my opinion this book is not a romance, even though the main character desperately is looking for love, searching for a family to belong to. Be seen and be safe. I wanted to reach into the book and pull the poor soul that is Blue Storm out of the pages and into safety. He's treated as property, including by his new masters. Those parts were hard to read, and I was so happy when an ally appeared in a character I had written off as not caring.

Even though the story isn't a romance, hasn't a traditional HEA, I'd say it ends in a happy place. Since truly dark books aren't my thing, I was relieved to see the story finish in such a way. For a good while there I was worried.

Wow...

Wow...this was intense. I honestly didn’t know where this was going and really didn’t know what to expect. This was definitely NOT a romance. There are no hearts and kisses. Literally.

I don’t quite know how to describe what this book is though. It was definitely an alternate universe where magic is common and non-magical people are treated worse than animals. It was heart wrenching to actually see and feel how the nameless were treated and not only that, it was physically torturous to be nameless and between masters.

It got me thinking though. Is this how we humans treat and look at other people who don’t have the same skin colour as us? Who don’t speak the same language as us? And who don’t believe in the same Gods as us?? Somehow because they are different, they have no feelings, they have no brains or they aren’t as human as us?

Philosophical questions aside, this book definitely held my attention. I just had to know where we end up being with the three of them. It had a well thought out plot which quite literally kept me on my toes. There were a few grammatical errors though....

For a non-romance story, it was good. I don’t want to live in that kind of universe though *shudder*

I'm not sure what to say here. This was a real miss for me - unusual with this author. There was little to no character development. They don't connect with each other - maybe the two masters but, even that, felt strange. I couldn't even get a read on Blue Storm as he seemed to vacillate between "poor me" to "I need to maneuver the Masters to let me stay and stay named" and having it all be his perspective limited the emotions too much. I felt pity for him- but I didn't see any growth --- it felt flat. I didn't get the world as there was not any real world building for me to attach too which was clear - that lets me imagine this place in my head. I felt like I got dropped in the middle of a story and it is never really explained. Neither the people nor the place. I mean I felt like there were points it was but this is a case of the sum not adding up from all the parts. Separately yeah - but collectively? There is just no point to it. Very unfortunately, I found the sex utterly void of emotion and summative - and that could have upped this star rating a lot because there is nothing I like more than dark erotic content - the darker the better. This author can write far better sex -- some of her scenes in the other books are smokin' hot. I found very little hot in this one. And not because it is more slave type - that stuff floats my boat to the middle of the ocean and beyond. I just felt nothing - again maybe pity for Blue Storm.

This is a fave author for me and an auto-buy but I really really struggled to keep going in this and finish.

In Blue Storm his head he can’t win. No one will ever keep him. Especially two guys who are so into each other and love each other hard. Nothing he’ll ever do will be enough.
He is plotting to find a way one of them want to keep him. Without a name he is nothing.
He desperately tries to find a way they will like him, but it seems every time he does something wrong, he doesn’t know why he is never enough for his Masters.

He is jealous, annoyed and irritated with André and Julien so affectionate to each other.
He’d mope and grumble inside and hated it how wrong he anticipated every time. He hated not knowing. How is it possible for the Masters to be the worse and the best.

One thing he knows for sure. He will do whatever they expect him to do, he could be whatever they want him to be, he just wants to be named.

Woww this was quite a different read. A lot of impressive magic and spells. It had an excellent plot and I just couldn’t put it down. It was so captivating and had a wonderful original content. I didn’t know what the expect and what the next step would be.
At times my heart hurt for Blue. The uncertainty, the unpredictability, the ever unfulfillable longing, and yearning. On the other side, he could be annoying and very manipulative.
The dynamic between Storm and André and Storm and Julien is different and for Storm very confusing.
It’s all about manipulation, trust, fairness, doing right and being loved.
All three men beautifully flawed, kind of unpredictable and somewhat unstable. There is a lot of heavy sexual activity.
An amazingly written extraordinary story. I’m not sure how to feel about the end. In the perspective of the story is a proper one.
The whole story is very consistently written, I think that’s the strength of it.

This is the most emotionally brutal Adara Wolf book I've read yet, absolutely incredible.

He wanted to know why they’d given him the name they did. He wanted to know why he didn’t have a name he could see himself. He wanted to know why he’d been born without magic. He wanted to know why that meant he had to suffer. He wanted to know—

the saddest boi

I was hooked in the whole way, so many feelings happening all at once. I don't have many extra word to add, the experience was so much (positive). A+ emotional destruction.

I kept hoping that Blue Storm would find his voice, find his sence of self, find an ounce of respect from anyone but that didn't happen. If he was acknowledged as a person I would have loved this book, if he had more character development, which he had, but it was never acted on or made worthy which frankly pisses me off. Without that very vital part, of his freedom, his choices being acknowledged, this book was just a long read on pure torture, horrible deeds and horrible people (Andre and Julien). I was so disappointed at the end, why give him a personality just to throw it all away like it was all worth nothing? Then the writer did that thing which I absolutely hate in books, the "it ws just a dream" strategy, where Blue Storm had to restart with no memories. Really?

If you enjoy the dark side of erotica, this book will probably peek your interest.

This is an interesting story. I cannot really label it as a romance, although there are some romantic encounters between two of the MCs. The characters are developed throughout the story, but there is little to no back story for anyone besides Blue Storm, and that is fragmented memories at best.

The setting of this book is a world in which magic is the norm, but occasionally, a human is born without any magic: a nameless. These beings cannot exist without the magical aid of a master giving them a name, and constantly replenishing the magic used to hold the nameless together, creating a virtual slave.

Julian and André are in a committed relationship and decide to get their own nameless together to supplement Julian's needs and André's curiosity. They cannot agree upon a name, so they compromise with André's Blue and Julian's Storm.

Blue Storm is desperate to keep his name, so he strives to make himself invaluable to his masters. He decides he will try to ingratiate himself with one master, while avoiding attachment to the one he doesn't understand.

Some of the acts that Blue Storm are subjected to, although he does not say no, are definitely dub-con. His chosen master is petty and a bit sadistic, and encourages many harmful situations, while the other tries to protect their slave. Blue Storm soon realizes his mistake, and his manipulative side comes to the fore.

When things start to unravel, Blue Storm realizes what has to be done. However, when his masters finally agree to his wishes, there are unforeseen consequences to their actions. In the end, I felt that the three MCs got what they deserved, even if it was a twist to the story I had not anticipated, although I should have. I suppose it would be considered a HEA.

Happy reading!

This one was brutal with multiple trigger warnings. BlueStorm has a new binding but this time he has two names and two masters to navigate and make sure they don’t get tired of him.

The story is simple, dark and twisted, but the relationship between the three of them is complex, filled with jealousy, misunderstandings, kindness and cruelty.

It’s thought provoking and I read through in one sitting. BlueStorm is pretty much a sex slave so there is a lot of sex. Julien was pretty much as expected but the relationship between Blue and Andre was heartbreaking.

I enjoyed the ending and was happy with how things were wrapped up.

I'm really disappointed.
I felt no connection with the characters and I found no development of them.

This is the kind of book that grabs you and doesn't let you go. I seriously couldn't put it down! Do be aware, when it says it has dark themes, they mean it.
It's an amazing story, overall!

Big part of the book made me very uncomfortable

The whole world imagined doesn't sound very appealing. Of course, it ends 'happily' as usual, but I didn't really think so. I'm not sure if it's explained properly why nameless can't know their name or use magic and other things. However, I feel uncomfortable with the whole narrative, and it brings mind games to a whole another level.

This was interesting but I had trouble with both Julian and Blue Storm for too much of the book. It's not until the last 10% or so that either are tolerable. And...for a book that the sex should have been erotic and titillating....it really wasn't. It couldn't be when Storm was really just suffering through too much of it to try and ensure his long term safety. I'm glad they all have Andre to keep their humanity in check.

Dark, dark, dark. I normally like Adara Wolf books, but this one, not so much. In fact there were a couple horrific scenes where I had to walk away from the book to clear out my head. I got to the point where I was hating all the characters! Then the ending was such a switch where everything was now hunky dory. Had me dizzy beyond any suspension of belief in this confusing magical world. Sorry, but this was not a good read for me.

The ending of this seemed rather abrupt to me, and a little disappointing.

I would LOVE to read more in this world of the nameless and magic. What a unique world Adara created.

This book is not for everyone. Read the warnings and take heed.

This book was dark, twisted, and complicated. There were moments of sweetness and tenderness, and there were moments of anguish and fear. Blue Storm is a magicless slave in a world where he cannot survive without being dependent on others who have magic. From the moment Blue Storm was born, he was destined for a life that was unfair and cruel. His owners, Andre and Julian, become his world, but they also become his tormentors. It’s a dark and disturbing book, but I loved it. I also love dark stories and kinky sex. The sex is this book was fantastic – it was very heavy on the D/s, poly, and other kinky, delicious elements.

Overall Rating: 5 Stars. I loved everything about this book. The writing was wonderful and the worldbuilding was incredible. The characters were intriguing and interesting. The sex was hot and intense. This book was perfect for me and I adored it.

So... It started out so well but disappointed so much : Blue Storm's a nameless, a lesser being, unable of using and seeing magic, therefore a mere error of nature to be used and discarded after. He needs a master to bind his soul into his flesh unless his drifts apart and eventually dies.
There comes Julien and André, couple of magicians, bent on binding a slave and integrating him into their household. But Blue's not as docile as it might seem and often attempts to manipulate his masters. Drama ensues.
While I'm usually sold for this kinda plot, I couldn't feel any empathy towards Blue Storm and that might have been what didn't work for me. He's also very dense and character development is minim at best.
The ending was unsatisfying even while making sense in a way.
All in all, I wouldn't recommend. Something feels incomplete.

Hmmm. I'm so torn. I was propelled forward by my need to know how the book ended and then once I saw how it ended I was super frustrated. I hate that all the fight seems to have been stripped from our MC (and yeah, I know fight really doesn't serve a whole lot of purpose in this situation BUT it feels like a core piece of who he is was removed and we were left with the mindless shell). Julien sucked balls, and Andre was pretty spineless...overall ugh. But I didn't hate it lol. I'll be sure to check out at least one more work by this author because I liked the writing just not so much the characters in this book lol. 2.5 but I rounded up.

An enjoyable read....the relationship between Blue (trying to keep his identity) and Andre and Julien (in a relationship with each other) is very complicated. The dynamic and interaction is very intriguing and entertaining. The character building is good...generating feelings of both dislike and cheering on. However, this book is not as dark as expected. It does not detract from my enjoyment thereof though.

Really did not enjoy this one

I hated this book. I felt no love or even connection. It was awful how they used blue storm against each other. I am more than willing to read non-combatant, but not when it’s in this false form. I also really felt that the two masters could have just gone without. It was stupid to get a pet for that. I liked the last 8% better thus the second star.

Oh man the start and middle of this book was soooooo good. It was so different and I was really enjoying it.

But. The ending was so disappointing for me, the writing wasn’t bad, perhaps the ending was a bit rushed? but I just hated the ending I hated the way things turned out I so wish that bluestorm had gotten his love story moment. It felt like fork about half way in you’re taken on this massive build of angst and then - no rewarding ending for the reader :(

I was REPULSED but I couldn't stop reading. Ultimately I landed on 3.5 stars. While I almost like the set up and the plots, one of the main characters was a little too cruel in the beginning and I just CANNOT handle soul slavery and physical pain to the level that this author went. I personally like my depravity a tab bit sweeter I guess 🤷‍♂️.

I feel ambivalet towards this book. There were parts of it that I really enjoyed but most of it, I really didn't.

What it worked for me was trying to figure out the main characters personalities, particularly the masters. The author did a wonderful work there. She kept me guessing all the time and reading between lines and gestures. It was so intriguing and the fact that we don't get to see their point of view, was even more brilliant. I also loved, in a way, Julien and André's relationship. It was not even close to be perfect, and it make things more fascinating.

What I didn't liked about were a few things. It felt too slow paced, and it felt there wasn't much going on for a while. It rely too much on sex on times, instead of developing a little more the plot or the characters. Sometimes it felt appropiate and with a purpose, but some others just felt off. It was such a sorrowful book. It made me feel sad, with not really much redeeming elements at the end or at least not the way I expected it. And I am not a reader who runs away from angst, I actually enjoyed it quite a lot if it serves a purpose and it gives me, either a happy ending or a satisfyingone even if not happy. But this book just made me feel sad.

Overall I think it was OK, maybe is not the right book for me, or it wasnt the right time to read it. Either way, I think the author is really good and not loving this one, wont keep me away from reading more of her work.

That’s gonna take some processing

1st, read all the triggers. Sl@very is a core component to the plot with all the emotional gore and trauma one would expect. Brutal. Contains s/a scene (background on page, vague references to what is occurring, focusses on character’s thoughts/inner dialog)

The characters are interesting but tend to swing between nuanced and one-dimensional. The story is hardcore M/M/s with dubcon themes. Poorly executed communication in the relationship, with toxic behaviors demonstrated well by all. (And each in keeping with what we learn of each character.)

All that said, I really truly thought I wouldn’t enjoy it once I got into it. Somehow, though, there was always just enough of a hook to keep it going. It took until the last few chapters fill in for a couple of the plot shortcomings and it REALLY worked for me. I consider it well worth the patience/heartache. That ending is so sweet. There are so many places where it feels like your heart will crack open and spill you everywhere.

I love how it’s both a straightforward story about the horrors of slavery but also an allegory for something else. I see toxic-polyamory, toxic swinging, racism, infantilization of mentally ill or physically disabled persons… the list goes on.

I really, truly enjoyed this one, in a harsh way. That’s all I’m gonna give you. You’ve been warned.

I had no idea what I got myself in to when I started reading this. I felt as confused as Blue does when he wakes up after being purchased.
And slowly a world started building as I got to know Blue more along with his owners.
This was not a forgiving world as one born without magic, and the book is quick to remind the reader of the disadvantage that Blue is under.

I felt his confusion with his two owners, the way he wanted to please both but leaned towards the one that was similar to what he had grown accustomed to. And his inner turmoil while he did his best to make sense of everything.

He wasn't the brightest, but he never had the chance to -be- and I liked the way his character changed during the book, giving a somewhat happy ending. Though as most of this author's books, it's still a bitter sweet ending.

There's plenty of difficult things on page that Blue have to go through and it made me feel even more for him, and sometimes you just wish to either shush him or have him speak up.
