Skeeve and Aahz return in the hilarious (and visually fantastic) Myth Adventures Two—the conclusion to the graphic novel adaptation of Robert Asprin's Another Fine Myth.
A popular science fiction fan artist in the 1970s, Phil Foglio began writing and drawing cartoons and comics professionally in the 1980s. His work includes Magic: The Gathering,Buck Godot, and the popular series of comics and novels, Girl Genius, co-written with his wife, Kaja Foglio.
Awards: Hugo Award for Best Fan Artist (1977 and 1978) Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story (2009, 2010, 2011)
I enjoyed Myth Adventures Two even more than the first volume, which is saying something. Phil Foglio’s adaptation really hits its stride here: the pacing is tighter, the jokes land more consistently, and the characters feel even more alive on the page. The humor is sharp, playful, and wonderfully visual. Foglio clearly understands the spirit of Robert Asprin’s original work, but he’s not just translating it—he’s enhancing it through expressive art, clever panel composition, and perfectly timed visual gags. The banter feels effortless, and the comedic beats often work on multiple levels, rewarding both longtime fans and newcomers. What stood out to me most is how confident this second part feels. The world-building is clearer, the action flows better, and the story balances absurdity and heart in a way that makes it genuinely engaging, not just funny. It’s the kind of book where you keep smiling while reading and occasionally stop just to admire a particularly clever illustration. If you enjoyed the first adaptation, this one is a definite step up. And if you’re a fan of humorous fantasy in general, Myth Adventures Two is a delight—smart, silly, and full of charm.
I have always love the Myth series by Robert Asprin. The mixture of Fantasy and Humor is not something that is seen too often, and Robert Asprin has perfected this fine art of writing in this style.
I have always hated the covers of the regular novels because they never drew the characters as they were described in the books. Yet when I first saw Phil Foglio's version of the Myth characters, I rejoiced because someone had finally listened to the descriptions of the wonderful characters that Robert Asprin created. This graphic novel is perfectly drawn and incredibly funny. I only wish that these two artists has collaborated on more books.
So, if you are looking for some of the best fantasy out there that will tickle your funny bone, try and find a copy of Myth Adventures Two by Robert Asprin and Phil Foglio. It will definitely be worth the effort.
The second half of Phil Foglio's delightful adaptation of Robert Asprin's "Another Fine Myth," with inks by Tim Sale (!). Hysterical material, delightfully drawn and written. This series was my intro to Foglio's work, and I'm glad of it.
