INSIDE THE MIND OF CASEY ANTHONY
Keith Ablow The trial of twenty-five year old Casey Anthony for the death of her daughter Caylee was the most sensational case in America since O.J. Simpson's--with a verdict every bit as stunning. After being acquitted in July 2011, Ms. Anthony instantly became one of the most infamous women in the world. Dr. Keith Ablow distills tens of thousands of pages of documents he has obtained, his behind-the-camera, one-on one interviews, and his decades of experience in the world of forensic psychiatry to make sense of a woman whose defense attorney described as an innocent victim of childhood sexual abuse, but the state insisted was a cold-blooded murderer.
Inside the Mind of Casey Anthony delivers an incisive, riveting way of understanding this troubled young woman.

I was obsessed with this case. This book talks about the psychology of the family. It's disturbing how many times the author mentions George's comments about being in the delivery room with his daughter and seeing her genitals.

Cindy was a domineering, controlling, and manipulative person stemming from her upbringing.

George was an addict whose background was submissive to his wife, but also abusive. He was having affairs and bounced from job to job.

Lee, the brother, was allegedly sexually abusing his sister, and Cindy would blame Casey.

Casey was a pathological liar, thief and sexually aggressive. She denied her pregnancy at 30 weeks along all the while telling her mom she was a virgin. Claims both her brother and father sexually abused her.

This family is one of the most dysfunctional I've ever seen. They denied their daughter's pregnancy until they were called out by a family member when she was over 7 months along. They then hounded her about who the father was and insisted they meet him (they never did, obviously). But they never questioned "Zanny the Nanny". I don't believe it. She had a history of lying and stealing; why wouldn't the parents question her story of the nanny?

Regardless of what theory of what happened to Caylee you believe. It's obvious that Cindy controlled, manipulated and gaslit Casey throughout her life. She took control of Caylee and claimed her as her own; she treated her adult daughter as a child.

Bottom line an innocent child is gone and these adults are still walking around free.

The book talks about interviews and the case files and gives opinions and theories about what could have happened based on their mental state.

Finally done - took me a little over a month because I ... hated it.
Definitely an interesting read since this all happened when I was younger, but if I don't ever have to read this man's work again, I'm okay with that.
