Lois Reeves and James Leveritt were running out of time. With Adie Dumortier’s life on the line, they must survive their latest predicament because letting their nemesis Alain to win was not an option. But outwitting a madman came with risks that might not be worth it.



The story finally arrived at a critical point. The sadist in me enjoyed the creative torture scenes, even though one of those scenes made me feel some kind of phantom pain in a certain part of my anatomy.

I’m not living my life hiding in some little hole in the back end of nowhere. This is my choice to make and James knows it.

However, I wasn’t quite satisfied with two of my most favorite characters in the series. I didn’t mind where the story ended (even though I felt it was too sweet) but a certain character deserved a more elaborate conclusion. Fortunately, I was appeased by a certain scene that I’ve been craving lol!

Ashes is the final installment of A Special Agent series. The series would appeal to readers who enjoy kinky romantic suspense.

An amazing conclusion to a fantastic series - I'm going to miss these guys so much!

I already know I'm going to struggle to write a review that does this book justice without also throwing spoilers around like confetti at a wedding. Suffice to say Alain continues to terrorize with how twisted, evil and psychotic he is. Which means James, Lois and Adie continue to suffer at his blood strewn hands.

The story is fast-paced and action-packed, venturing repeatedly into some pretty dark territory. It didn't want to put this down, and when my thoughtful teenage son had me awake at the crack-ass of dawn, instead of being sensible and attempting to grab a couple more hours of sleep, I picked this up and read it until it was finished.

Strike that, I didn't read it, I devoured it like the most delicious of meals, savouring every morsel and extracting every last drop of flavour that I possibly could from it. I want to say I loved every single word of it but the author, and those who have already read the book, will know that isn't possible. There is possibly a tiny little lose thread that was left. It didn't play out the way I expected, but I'm hoping against hope that the author possibly has plans for it. Please. Otherwise I may seriously fall out with her.

It's written first person from Adie, James and Lois' points of view and all 6 books must be read in the correct order, this isn't a stand alone. (I made the mistake of attempting to start with book #4 and quickly found myself totally lost.) This, along with Ariana Nash's Silk & Steel series, is my joint favourite series of 2019 and is without a shadow of a doubt my top BDSM/romantic suspense/dark read of the year.

Of course, Alain Dumortier is always a step or two ahead of the game, which leads Lois and James into erotically charged but potentially fatal predicaments. While Adie Dumortier remains imprisoned to his brother, it all comes to an explosive crescendo with irrevocable consequences.

Throughout this series, these characters have faced incredible physical and mental challenges that run parallel to a dark storyline full of action. With strong personalities at play, Lois, James and Adie share a unique camaraderie and also a potent sexual attraction.

“Fuck. This is really happening. He’s going to stay there and take this. I know he’s doing this for me.”

For me, a good portion of the book was intriguing when it came to erotic play and there was one juicy scene that ticked my box. However, once a particular event occurred, it lessened the impact of an integral aspect of the storyline and left me disappointed in the brevity of it. While I am pleased with the relationship trajectory, the tone at the end gave me a bit of whiplash.

Overall, I enjoyed this series for the characters and the erotic content this author writes with fluidity and authenticity. This series would appeal to those seeking an action-packed BDSM romance suspense.

She knows her mind, she knows her body, she knows her guns and she knows all kinds of martial arts, and she is not afraid to use them all.

What she didn’t know much about was the submissive/slave & BDSM lifestyle.
Her next job requires her to go undercover as a submissive slave in a very illegal and dangerous club filled with utter sick and cruel sociopathic cunts.

Five minutes with these guys as well as a pair of tweezers and a cheese grater...that’s all I’m asking!
Anyway, she needs to become a convincing sub who has at least 1 year of submissive training in order to get the highest bids in the illegal auction and then be shipped off to Carte Blanche (the slave club thingy) to find and assassinate the leader, Alain Dumortier.

So she goes to this company that specialises in training people in the BDSM lifestyle and that’s where she meets James.
Jesus-Fucking-Christ on a motorbike!

And...yup...I just jizzed in ma knickers...again.
From this point on her life got turned upside down and inside out.

Oh, and he also happened to be a psychopath. Good combination, right? Out of all the men and women I'd been contracted to kill in the past, none had ever been so deserving of death as Dumortier.

SEX SCENES
Okay, if you’ve read any of my reviews, you know I like to pick my favourite sex scenes and post a wee excerpt.
But this series - every single book in this series - was packed FULL of the darkest, kinkiest and hottest sex!
I know it’s a lot to read but I’ve picked out two scenes that I kinda pulled a muscle reading…

Scene 1

“What do you think, Alain? Can we make her beg?” “Never had a problem making a woman beg before, and I don’t think tonight will be the exception.” Somehow, I had the awful feeling they were right. “Think she can take the two of us at once?” James asked. “Does she have a choice?” Adie raised his eyebrows. "No." James angled himself so he could slide his cock along my lips. Oh fuck. This was really happening. I let out an involuntary moan. "Okay, here's how it works, Alain. No cock goes inside my little whore until she begs for it first. Let's see how long the bitch lasts." Oh, God. Adie took James at his word, of course. With his cock pressed up tight against my entrance, he buried his fingers in my ass and pussy and began thrusting away happily. The index finger on his other hand began to torment my already over-sensitised clit. Meanwhile, James ran his cock backwards and forwards along my lips, slowly pumping himself with his hand. Although this series was chock-a-block with intensely sexy scenes and had no shortage of tongue in cheek humour, it also got extremely dark and fucked up. Which, of course, I loved!
I actually learned a lot while reading this series! Hahaha!
Absolutely loved it and will be adding all of C.P. Mandara’s books to my TBR mountain.

One thing is really bothering me though, I really wanted Adie to appear at the end. Where the heck is he? We know he was not blown up. I wanted the three of them to ride off into the sunset so bad!!!!

The last book in this series and all the events the previous books have built up to comes together in this book. It is a rollercoaster of torture, secrets, despair and love.

I don’t think I ever read about a more despicable character then Alain, the lengths he goes through to get his vengeance are beyond anything. Nothing is too far or to depraved for him.

James and Lois are strong, but are they strong enough? My heart broke for them.

So the series is over and I feel...robbed.

First I will say there were a couple of spots that took me by surprise. Which is always a good thing. How everything comes to a climax and what happens, took me by surprise.

We even get a good last three chapters to show where James and Lois are which also was great.

HOWEVER....I literally read through six books...SIX BOOKS...that go on and on and on about how James can't have sex with someone more than once. He loves Lois and wants that with her, but he can't have it. Oh how they both wish they could be together yada yada. So what we get is Lois forcing him to have sex with her, so not really an erotic sex scene...then we have him being forced to have sex with her at the club in Italy (which was a freebie given by Alain remember, so wasted opportunity), which again, was glazed over. So when they can finally have sex, one would think we would get to read about it. NOPE. We get to hear about all the orgasms Lois has had. The one time we finally could get a scene where these two aren't being forced, coerced, manipulated, and can just be themselves and guess what happens...THE PARAGRAPH ENDS...and then we hear Lois talk about how she's coming off of five orgasms. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?



That's how I feel. I wanted to throw my kindle across the room and scream. What a wasted opportunity. We never get that moment. The moment that was never supposed to happen, that was talked about throughout SIX BOOKS, that moment that we actually have an opportunity to enjoy with them and it NEVER COMES!!!! At this point, I have no desire to read about Adie and now how he's going to torture James and Lois again because he didn't get the girl. Yeah...I'm good.

I wish there was a more complete ending. It left me satisfied except for a few things I would’ve liked to find out, like what contacts did Adie call while Lois and James were on assignment? Was he the one who got the mystery man in contact with Lois? How did she get out of her handcuff while James was away? did Adie know that his friends had actually done their best and returned to try and save his life? I wish we got to find out what Lois’ real name though. I loved Lois’ no fear attitude and sense of humour throughout some of the scenes, it lightened some of the intense gory situations she was in.

This book had its typos here and there, but far less than the previous books. I’m just glad I read this whole series in one go without needing to wait for the next book otherwise I would’ve been just as impatient as Lois was for her next orgasm!

This series went out with a bang.....all kinds of pun intended. I loved this book. I was awaiting every scene from the start till the end with bated breath and the author delivered greatly🖤 I might have felt phantom pain in certain parts of my body during that torture scene though. Ms. Mandara, you are one crazy wicked person and I love it.
It was amazing to see how creative Alain could be while delivering pain. Not only just the torture scene (although it was the stuff of nightmares .....or dreams 😈😛 however you wanna look at it lol) ...but also the whole manipulative mastermind plan of his.

During this whole series ....I loved some things, I liked the other, and some.. I hated. But I can't deny the fact that the storyline kept me gripped from start to finish. So I would absolutely recommend it. Get ready to witness a whole lot of sex, blood, torture and D/s.

James and Lois are sent on a special mission that must be completed to save the life of Adie. The terror, emotional upheaval and almost complete hopelessness experienced by all three characters under the evil control of a sick, sadistic Alain are absolutely overwhelming.

As I read, I was filled with terror, fear and nausea. Somehow, they must survive! But, once drugs are injected, I cannot even imagine how this will be accomplished. Perhaps there is something I have overlooked! Oh,yes! There is! This story is extremely high intensity and full of edge of your seat horror. Another winner, C.P. Mandara!

Couldn't get enough!

I definitely blew off too many things I needed to do just so I could get my fill of this series. Honestly glad I picked it up after all the books had already come out. I don't know if I could have stood the wait! Lois may be into delayed gratification, but I'm all about "now, now, now"! Absolutely start from the beginning, and make sure to allow for some alone time. Ms. Mandara really steamed up this room. This was my first time reading this author, and I'm looking forward to trying more of her books.

What an ending to the series. So happy both James &Lois got the ending they deserved. They finally complete the mission and I love how we get to see them live together after the intense assignment. We don’t really know what happened to Addie and I really hope he gets a book or a novella to know what happens for him. But I really loved this series so much the darkest I’ve read and I’m so sad the books aren’t available to purchase coz I would’ve 🥺🥰🥰 people need to give this author a chance her writing is so good and well thought out and smartly written. This is like the MindFuck series but make it more erotic and extremely dark. Dark romance readers you’ll love this as much as I did

WOW !! Ok Adie I mean I don’t even know where to start with him. He makes me sooo mad at least if I think what happened happened then yeah I’m pissed. Now Lois and James, I just love those two, even though they both can be so naive at times. I mean come on ! The thing is will Alian keep to his word ? Not only about not killing his brother but also his word about taking what he’s wanted for so long from Lois ? So much emotional and physical pain. I grimaced at a certain part.

Time has run out for our heroine. Captured with her partner, their future does not look very good. Can she find a way out of this fix, or is this truly the end of the road?

This is book six of the series and its conclusion. It does okay as a standalone, but I strongly recommend starting at the beginning.

This is a dark romantic suspense story with strong elements of D/S and more. The story is well written and easy to read, but also rather intense. If you are looking for the usual vanilla BDSM, this is not it. That being said, if you like things with a bit more edge, then you are in the right place. The characters are well developed and definitely bring the story to life. The plot is fast paced with lots of action and full of interesting twists and turns. There is also quite a bit of steam along the way. Overall, I found the story highly enjoyable and look forward to more from this author.

Special Agents James, and Lois are sent off to find out why Alain's shipment has gone. They have a certain amount of time to get the information and return to Alain's compound. They do what they must to get back before Alain takes his revenge on Adie He keeps his brother on a short leash. When they return Alain's evil scheme is revealed but they believe that they have a chance to escape Alain's revenge somehow. Things are not going well at all for either one of them but Lois believes there will be an opportunity to take Alain out but not clear on the when or the how. AWESOME READ

Talk about “going out with a bang.” Ashes is just that.
If you were to take a roller coaster and a fighter jet plane and a nuclear weapon and mix them altogether. That’s how mind blowing and energetic and thrilling this book - NO - this whole series is.

The absolute chemistry between these characters are so life like. You can almost feel the sting and the burn of it all.

I’m like the back couple of pages of this book. I’m curious too. We’ll just have to wait and see.

We finally come to an end of a great series. I loved it for the most part but this one seemed a bit quickly and forcibly finished. There were some parts of the story that did not seem to be properly closed and were rushed.
I liked that they finally killed Alain and got some peace. He was a master manipulator and had too much power so it was due to end him.
The chemistry between James and Lois is still burning and they suffering is devastating. I feel like there was something missing regarding Adie, his death seems inadequate like the author didn’t know how to finish with all three of them and have their HEA .

This entire series was wonderful and I am going to read it again and again like I did Pony Tails. I love the way she writes, I laugh, I cry, I scream "yes", it's like she's in my brain, its wonderful. The conclusion of this series was so justified and did things to my body I will not repeat! I've read other erotic books but CP Mandara leaves them in the dust. Pony Tails was wonderful but Special Agent BDSM takes the reader somewhere else. I will not spoil it for anyone, read these books, snuggle and live the life, it's wonderful. Trust me!

I read this book straight- I couldn’t put it down. My heart was in my throat for most of it, and the main shift- that blindsided me. I couldn’t breathe through the pain of some of the sections, and C.P. kept the pace moving so fast that there wasn’t time to focus! Never did I assume there would be a “happy ending” style ending, but she pulled it off expertly. When I finished, although I knew I was instantly moving to the next chapter of this tale (in the start of a new series), I needed a break to decompress.

Lois and James are now deeply entangled in a very twisted world, all for their job, but they never thought of what Adie would mean to them. Can they get untangled from this dark, danger world? Or will it cost them their lives? Can they bring Alain to justice? I really like this dark twisted romance, that is incredibly steamy and ever so wrong. I had to know what was going to happen, so had to keep reading, no matter what.

Great wrap up for the series
I love this series by C.P. Mandara, yes it is dark and twisted read. I can't believe what a twisted character Alain is unbelievable what he did to Lois, James and Adie. Unfortunately Alain didn't suffer enough to satisfy me in the end.
I still want to know what happened to Adie, I feel sure that he outsmarted his brother and I can't wait for the spin off that I think is coming. Sneaky writer C.P we are waiting.

A Stunning Conclusion

Just when I thought everything is going to bits, there’s a turnaround. The novel is very dark and brutal sexually and again, not for the faint of heart. There’s a lot of violence and psychological warfare used that the torture seemed endless.

I’m glad things worked out well. This is the most unusual love story I’ve read.
