The Past | The Present | The Future For these friends, the past year holds memories; some they’d like to forget and others they’ll always remember. They’ve experienced all kinds of things but with each other, their families, prayer, and God; they’ve made it through 2019, to the month of December. But not every relationship salvaged will make it to the future. In this Holiday Short Story, Special Edition of When the Vows Break, you’ll get to peek into the lives of these friends and see how they’re spending their Christmas holiday. Will the past they’ve endured affect their present, attempting to shatter their future? Or has the past given them instruction to treasure the present while preparing for the future? You’ll have to read to find out.
Lakisha Johnson, native Memphian and author of over ten titles was born to write. She’ll tell you that “Writing didn’t find me, it’s was engraved in my spirit when I was created.” Along with being an author, she is an ordained minister, co-pastor, wife, mother and the product of a large family.
She is an avid blogger at kishasdailydevotional.com and social media poster where she utilizes her gifts to encourage others to tap into their God given talents. She won’t claim to be the best at what she does nor does she have all the answers, she is simply grateful to be used by God
Loved it! It’s crazy I love reading and read all the time. I’ve been reading all kinds of books lately and I’ve read some of Kishas books before, well anyway it has been I believe almost a year since I’ve read any I read the vows series last year and loved it and her way of telling stories. Anyway I forgot her name I knew part of it lol but I couldn’t remember all of it. So I scroll and search for the vows series and I see this book. Mind you like everyone in the world probably this has been a trying year but for me this week was rough and I wanted to read one of “that” authors books again hence my search lol so I read it and was in tears I feel like I was meant to read this because not only was the message leaning towards what I been going through both of my very favorite songs were mentioned as well as some scriptures I’m familiar with. Now some may say yeah well that’s purely coincidence and blah blah but I say it was nothing but God that led me to this book. I am a forever fan of Ms. Lakisha! You are using that gift woman!! Peace and blessings to all!

My Opinion:
Another beautiful read by this author that puts the icing on the cake. It was wonderful seeing how everything was turning out for the 5 best friends after all they had been through so much. Yes, there will be plenty of 'hurt, pain, and guilt,' but when it is all said and done, there is one that is with us, ready to rescue us.
I love how 'The Past, The Present, and the Future all is summed up in the beautiful holiday short story letting us see how each one spent their Christmas holiday. I loved how the story was so relatable and showed 'not every relationship salvaged will make it to the future,' realizing it wasn't in God's plan. The story gives a good ending to the Vow stories 1-2 and 3. Also, let's not leave our Shattered and Shattered 2, which were all good reads.
No matter how many pages this author writes, i always finish it in a single day. I absolutely love the friendship of these ladies & how the author makes their pain & happiness so relatable. I love Cam, & I see a lot of me in her. Although Lyn has passed, I still feel her. Depression is so real. That's a personal topic for me. Gosh I want the best for Ray. I hope Kerri & Michael figure it out. Thomas & Cam have come a long way. Shelby & Derrick will be so happy together. Chole's character wasn't as strong as the others. I appreciate the direct relation of the title & the story. But should I be shocked? After all, this author is completely amazing!
So many of us go through things and hide them from our love ones. We cover our depressions, addictions, and all daily. At some point generational curses must be broken and through God is the only way. With each sister friend I have been there. People look at drugs as an addiction but there are others. I love this because it touches on many. Continue to pray for me as I do you
I love the updates of the girls. I hope this is not the last time we read about them. I love the scriptures and the fact that despite their pain or past there is always something I can take from each book written and apply it to my life and letting go of my past, living now in the present and planning for the future. Thanks Pastor Johnson for your continued ministry not just to me but millions around the world.
Bringing two different novels to a wonderful conclusion.
Thank you for giving us some resolution to When the bow breaks and Shattered. You have a wonderful gift and I thank you for sharing it with the world. I've read both series and I find myself taking notes, writing down scripture, songs I would not have ever known about it not for your novels. You have made me laugh, cry, scream, pray and self reflect on my life. I look forward to reading more of your work.
This was so very great indeed. I enjoyed catching up with the girls on their new adventures and their Christmas. 's Johnson once again you are awesome with your writing. Good luck in the future to you. Don't seem like you will need much luck cause you are top notch right now as far as I'm concern. I'm going to go now and see what else you have for me to read that I haven't read yet. Lata
I love reading this story about these friends in this book. Watching their transformation has been an awesome experience. This book is an example of what true friendship is. When one hurt they all hurt and when they are all happy everyone’s happy. Every book in this series has had some great life lessons. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
This is a very powerful book/series. I really enjoyed this book as much as I did the other ones. If you don't believe in God or don't want to read about him then this is not the book for you. Before you read this book i recommend that you read the series first so that you will know the back story on all the couples.
Another awesome book. These sister friends are amazing ladies. They had heartbreak, loss of a loved one, knew love and addiction, but they made it by the grace of God. This book was awesome to read. There are times when we will go through things in life but having a sister friend and God you will make it through.
Emotional, inspirational & uplifting! Having read the other books & being familiar w/ the characters, Ms. Johnson does an outstanding job bringing this story home. Powerfully written, this body of work undoubtedly touched a lot of people in need of peace of mind & understanding. GREAT read!

Another awesome work by Pastor Lakisha Johnson. My summer has been used to read all of Lakisha's works. What a journey to restoration of my broken pieces. She is not just a writer, this is her ministry! Bless God for her work!!!
This book was a great addition to the others. The more I read the more the strength I get. The lesson I am learning is you can conquer anything. Just keep God first.

This book told how everyone has moved on in there life. But still never forgetting there friendship and love for each other. Also keeping Lynn in there heart/lives.
This was a really enjoyable Christian short read. The prayers alone would make you read it twice. These ladies have a great friendship and they learn to get through their struggles.
This six book series was the best I ever read. I hope there there more books about these friends and over coming there problems with God and each other.
