Kendall Ryan is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author of flirty, feel-good romance filled with heart, heat, and plenty of banter. An American author who has lived all over the world, her books have sold millions of copies and been translated into multiple languages. She writes swoony heroes, bold heroines, and stories that make you laugh, blush, and fall in love. When she’s not dreaming up new plotlines, she is a proud mom to two amazing sons and the wife of her real-life hero.
I typically enjoy Kendall Ryan’s books but not so much this one.
This is an age gap romance...younger man, older woman. Layne is a successful corporate attorney. She has it all except for what she wants the most...a husband and kids. Then Griffin shows up to her office to give her a massage and the sparks fly. Griffin is a student making extra money as a masseuse when he meets Layne. He is immediately attracted to her and asks her out. Shot down by her imagine his surprise when he finds out she is his sister’s best friend.
There is not a huge age difference between Layne and Griffin, just ten years. It follows the development of their friendship to relationship over a four year period. I didn’t connect with Layne at all. On one hand she is supposed to be an independent super-lawyer that kicks butt but then she is always ruminating over the fact that she is getting old and her eggs are getting old and she really wants children. This is prominent in most of her discussions throughout the book which was kind of tiring. It was overemphasized in my opinion. It may her appear needy and weak.
Griffin was the typical twenty three year old ex-frat boy. He made silly jokes and was very lighthearted but I liked him. He had a sweet side and I feel like Layne exploited his feelings for her. This was just an ok read for me. Not good, not the worst. I will still read the author’s books and I look forward to her next release.
Have you ever wanted something for so long, and when you get it, it's even better than you could have imagined?
Griffin and Layne meet when Griffin is in his early/mid twenties and Layne is in her early/mid thirties. They are both attracted to one another, but the age gap puts Layne off right away. She can't imagine Griffin will be ready for the big things in life she's ready for. Griffin also happens to be her best friend's little brother which further complicates anything happening between them.
Griffin has real feelings for Layne, even though there is only friendship between them for years. Eventually, Layne sees the light and they decide to try to see each other on the down-low. They don't want anyone to know incase it doesn't work out, which makes sense. But then complications arise...
I always enjoy Kendall Ryan's books. I know they're going to be light, fun, and flirty and this one was. I liked it a lot, but I hated waiting so long for the couple to get together. I can't even say it was a slow burn, because it was such a short book that it read really fast. If you don't mind that, I recommend giving this one a go. It was a sweet, steamy, and enjoyable age gap/best friend's brother romance.
This is another one of My little gems that I found shopping in my own Kindle
So, this is a fun age gap romance...younger man, older woman with a bit of a Slow burn.

He’s gorgeous, but he’s also ten years younger than her and a cocky playboy/ Frat boy ……. He has a Unique personality that could just make anybody fall in love with them Including me……
Honestly, I can’t lie. There were times around the 40%- to 50% Point, where I was about to give up on this book Due to the fact it was too much of a slow burn. I felt like at times where. There was no connection between these two, Yeah there were friends and Griffin was Madly In lust with Layne…….. now Layne was too damn stuck into her head over the age gap thing…… but thankfully the story came around and when the steam finally kicked in , than I finally felt the connection between them….. I have to admit, this was actually a fun read……… So, all in all, I enjoyed it. If you could get past the super slow burn. You’ll be just fine and I would recommend this one.

How To Date A Younger Man by Kendall Ryan is a fabulous friends to lovers, slow burn, age gap, best friends brother romance where age is just a number. It’s a sexy, fun, flirty story full of humor, emotion, and explosive chemistry!
There are a few authors whose rom-com I love to read and Kendall Ryan is definitely one of them.
This book is a little different from her previous books but that doesn't mean that it isn't good.
"How to Date a Younger Man" is a contemporary romance with age-gap and best friend's brother tropes.
Layne is a female character who knows what she wants but from time to time when she's not successful at getting it she becoming insecure.
Griffin is a funny guy who took my heart from page one. His persistence to win Layne's heart even though he knows he's 10 years younger than her is adorable.
Layne and Griffin's relationship from the beginning is a sweet and a lot of fun but over time it becomes more serious and turns into a passion which they are both aware of.
If you're looking for a funny and quick summer read, then this is a book for you!!!
How to Date a Younger Man is the newest full-length romance novel by one of my favorites, Kendall Ryan. It's a sexy, sweet, age gap romance between an older woman and her best friend's younger brother. This story is fun, flirty, swoon worthy, and I absolutely loved it.
Layne is a smart and ambitious lawyer who successfully started her own law firm. She's worked hard, day in and day out, to get to where she is today. But while she's been devoted to work, she's watched all of her friends find love, get married and have kids. Now she's decided that she wants that too. The only problem? She has her standards set just a bit too high.
Griffin is a massage therapist who's working his way through grad school to become an architect. From the second he meets Layne, he knows that she's the one for him. For four whole years he relentlessly pursues her only to be shut down each time. Not only is he her best friend's brother, but he's also ten years younger than her. He can't possibly give her what she needs.
I absolutely loved Griffin! He was so laid back, sweet and funny. Layne on the other hand, frustrated me at times. I really liked her, but her whole age gap fixation drove me crazy. If the feelings are there and he makes you happy, what's the big deal? Go for it and see where it leads. Thankfully she finally comes to her senses and does just that.
All in all, I found this to be a thoroughly enjoyable read. If you're looking for a sweet and sexy romantic escape that follows a handful of tropes, then please be sure and pick this one up. Five stars for Griffin, Layne and How to Date a Younger Guy!
I enjoyed this story so much. I would rate it a high 3.8🌟 read for me. It was a funny, slow burn age gap romance. I'll start with the books positives. It's Kendall Ryan duh!! So there were quite a few positives. I loved that it was a reverse age gap, older successful woman. But Layne Anderson wasn't a cougar and she didn't have body issues. It was refreshing because she was the alpha. The slow burn drove me crazy, but in the end I saw how it was necessary for the story.
Kendall Ryan spins the whole friend's sibling trope on its head in How to Date a Younger Man with an older woman and younger man who just so happens to be her friend's brother and ten years her junior. The sex scenes were juicy and hot. But they added depth to the story.
The younger man was to die for. Griffin, besides being sexy and so caring he was just perfect. You will soon over him. This was a nice light, read on the beach type of book. If you are in the mood for an easy romance with casual laughs and sexy parts then this is the book for you.
3.5 Stars And since I am a hard task master and round down, that makes it a 3 stars.
The characters were interesting and I like Griffin more than I did Layne. Even though she is a strong, high-powered Lawyer, she just came off a bit too into her head and not really connected to her heart. She comes up with some of the most ridiculous excuses to ignore what is between her and Griffin. She often annoyed me. Griffin I liked, but I would have preferred him to be a bit more assertive and confident.
There are also some typos. A couple of them I highlighted in kindle notes, but not all of them.
My biggest problem was with the lack of connection between them during the 'Slow Burn'. I don't mind a slow burn as long as I get my steamy. But, I really needed them to have more tension and scenes dealing with that throughout.
Now, I have to admit, this was actually a fun read. If it hadn't been for my above problems with the story, I would have given it at least a 3.75 and it would have rounded up to 4.
There is humor, and I love humor. When the steam finally kicked in it went to Hot, sweaty, adult sex steam. And I finally felt the connection between them.
Oh, a quick little note. I never really figured out the character Wren.
I loved this couple! A sexy, sweet, age gap romance between a successful older woman and a younger guy just starting to make his own way. It's a story of self-discovery, getting older and finding love when you think your time to have it all is running out.
He's totally hot and a bit cocky. She's gorgeous and self-assured. He's made his interest known, but she shuts him down. She's not looking for a hook up...she wants forever. He'll just need to bide his time and show her he's all the man she'll ever need.
Layne is an ambitious lawyer. She's made her own success when she started her own firm. Work has been her life since graduation. Now she's watching all her friends get married and have kids and she's wondering when it will be her turn. Priorities are shifting and she wants her own HEA with a husband and kids.
Griffin is ten years younger, working his way through grad school for architecture. The first time he meets Layne, he knows that she's the end game. Good thing he's patient, because she's not going to make things easy for him. He is a really great guy, the kind you keep.
This story is emotional and a bit angsty. Layne has a mindset of what she wants and it's never been a younger man. She wants a mature guy, with a good job, who is ready to settle down and give her her dream. She has tunnel vision when it comes to relationships, so much so that she can't see what's right in front of her. She'll have to kiss a bunch of frogs before she realizes her prince has always been waiting for her to open her eyes.
This is a best friend's brother, age gap, friends to lovers romance with high emotion. Their relationship starts out as a friendship. Both of them lead their own lives, but they become each other's person. The one that helps you through a break up or gets drunk with you after a bad day. Layne needed time to "see" him and Griffin needed to mature into the man she needed. Their relationship frustrated me at times because I just wanted to shake some sense into her. I felt her pain and frustration. I felt their sexual tension and undeniable attraction. Age was her hang up, but love trumps all.
How To Date A Younger Man is an all new sexy stand-alone age gap novel from author Kendall Ryan.
How To Date A Younger Man, follows the story of Griffin and Layne. When we first meet up with our two main characters, it's impossible to not fall for them. Their chemistry is instant and you just know that you're going to be in for one special treat. Usually, I don't go for books where the woman is a lot older than the man. I don't know why, but they really appeal to me. There is a pretty decent age gap between Layne and Griffin, but somehow, these two made it not only believable, but they made it work.
Griffin is young, completely sure of himself and isn't afraid to go after what he wants. He might be cocky, but he is no way immature. When he sets his sites on Layne, wild horses wouldn't be able to keep him away. He'll do anything to be a part of her life, even if it means being a friend with benefits. Layne is just as awesome. She's in her late 30's and is tired of trying to find the one. She knows he's out there. What she didn't expect was to fall her her best friends younger brother. She tried to fight it and came up with a million and one reasons why they would never work. But, chemistry like what the two of them have is just too impossible to ignore...
How To Date A Younger Man is a fun and entertaining read. I loved getting to know Griffin and Layne. I loved their push and pull and looked forward to seeing how their story would come together in the end. Yes, there were some bumps along the way to their happily ever after. Yes, I was left feeling a little crazy and frustrated at times. But, I'd be lying if I said I didn't love every second of it.
How To Date A Younger Man is a great age gap, best friends little brother romance. It's got some angst and drama, with a fantastic balance of romance and sexy goodness. All in all, a great book to spend your day wrapped up in.
*I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*
How To Date A Younger Man is an enjoyable read but I have to say it wasn’t my favorite by Kendall Ryan.
I found it fun, sexy and swoony but it lacked that WOW factor Kendall usually gives us. I know I am probably in the minority with this, but I would still recommend this book to all Kendall’s fans.
I think what I had trouble with with this story was I thought it was going to be different after reading the title and blurb for the story. Where the story went in the last 40% of the book is what I expected for the whole story. When I see how to DATE a younger man as the title, I kind of expected them to date a lot more then they did in this story. To me this was more of a friends to lovers story than an true age gap romance. Yes there is a 10 year age difference between Layne and Griffin, but it just wasn’t the focus of this story….in my opinion. Layne had other hang ups when it came to Griffin besides the age thing.
Now just because I said that, I don’t want you to think I didn’t enjoy reading this story. I really did and I liked the storyline but I just would’ve marketed as something else, or written a different blurb for it.
This is a standalone novel that is told in Dual POV. I thought the flow and pace of the story was great. I also thought Kendall gave us fun and relatable characters. I really liked Layne and I LOVED Griffin :) Although I do think they needed some better communication skills. But their chemistry and banter was great, I truly felt their connection.
As I said, even though this wasn’t a 5 star read for me, this was still worth the read and perfect if you are looking to escape for a couple hours. All fans of Kendall Ryan should read this book!!!
Okay, so…..can I just say, YUM?! ‘Cause, daaang…Griffin is delicious!
How to Date a Younger Man is a slow burn, swoony, age gap romance with lots of fun, flirty, and emotional aspects sprinkled throughout.
Griffin and Layne have insta-chemistry. From the minute Griffin gets his hands on Layne (calm down, this is a slow burn romance, remember?...he was a massage therapist when they first met), their attraction to one another only grew over the course of the story. And by grew, I mean 4 years worth of growth. Yeah, 4 flipping years! Now, granted, they both needed those 4 years to not only mature (*ahem* Griffin), and realize that age is just a number (*cough* Layne), but they formed a tight and close friendship that I think made the story so even better.
Griffin was a great character! I loved how laid back and caring he was. Yeah, his age may portray him as some young stud, wanting to seek out women’s greener pastures. But he never acted like it. So to feel like Layne constantly held that over his head felt totally wrong. She was also constantly hung up on their age difference. To certain types of people, I can see a 10 year age difference being a hard pill to swallow. And as for Layne, her age-insecurity continually prevented her from getting over that last hurdle. But once she finally let go and allowed herself to accept Griffin for the kind of guy he was and not what she thought he should be, did Layne finally find happiness and what she’d always been searching for.
I really, really liked this story! The title doesn’t quite match up to the storyline, as there’s not much “dating” involved between the characters….remember, slow burn. But the cover?....omg, YAASSS! If I wasn’t already a huge fan of the author, I’d be one-clicking this book so fast JUST BECAUSE of the cover. HAWT!
This standalone romance is a sexy and entertaining quick read. The progression of the storyline flows smoothly along with the development of the characters. It’s the perfect summertime read for those wanting an enjoyable romantic escape.
I can't deal with you Kendall Ryan! Every new book you release becomes an instant favourite and well this one is just another on that list!
I'd like to first start by saying Griffen is one of my favourite book boyfriend's he's the complete package, along with the mental and emotional growth he executes in this read!
Secondly, this story follows two of my favourite tropes. The dating a best friends sibling and the age gap romance! Two tropes if done perfectly make for a great read!
I usually enjoy those tropes more the emotional side but reading How To Date a Younger Man was a breath of fresh air. The easy energy between Layne and Griffen was amazing to read and the humour throughout kept this book solid in the Rom-Com area for me!
Don't get me wrong it had the emotional tang when it needed it and I loved that it lasted just enough to keep you moving forward but not too long that you scream at the characters to get their heads on straight.
Layne is a strong headed lawyer, who owns her own firm and is 10 years older than Griff. Griff is in grad school and working as a massage therapist when they both first meet.
He likes her instantly and she does too but the age gap is a thing she can't deal with, or at least tells herself that it's a problem.
When Layne discovers Griff is her new besties younger brother it causes for an interesting cycle of years to come as they both star heavily in each others lives.
A well written story, that is short and sweet with low angst and high amounts of banter and humour. An instant classic by Kendall Ryan that you will for sure be asking for more from.

Another amazingly good-time feel-good read from Kendall Ryan!! I will admit tho, I would have enjoyed the book (more?) if the age-gap would have been a bit more pronounced in the story. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed reading them because they had great chemistry but it’s right there in the title … younger man (lol) … But let’s get back to the greatness of the rest of the story shall we!
I found the friendship that built between Layne and Griffin to be the core of this story more than anything else. I mean Layne was a bit slow on the take, if you get my drift, but once she got over her hang-ups they were quite the pair. The reason I didn’t use sexy at the beginning to describe the story wasn’t because of their chemistry but more so because I felt like I was reading more of a friendship journey than anything else. YES, there’s sexual shenanigans (it’s a romance after all) but … UGH, I don’t know, it just felt secondary to their friendship. It is still a very good read and I would recommend it to anyone!
If you love age gap romances this is one to check out. How to Date a Younger Man takes place over the course of four years and at times will lead to frustration, however, it is easy to get completely invested in these characters and their relationship.
Layne is a successful attorney. She is also smart, classy and gorgeous. However, there is something missing from her life and that’s a family. She isn’t getting any younger, but when it comes to finding the perfect man for her that isn’t so easy. Griffin is kind of a play boy when he first meets Layne. However, he checks some of Layne’s boxes. The downsides? He is ten years younger and her best friend’s younger brother.
Layne and Griffin form a friendship. I love how Griffin is there for Layne through the good and the bad. It was instant for Griffin, from the very first meeting and he was giving Layne a massage. Layne on the other hand, well, despite being an insanely smart lawyer, she’s not so smart when it comes to Griffin….hence my frustration.
How to Date a Younger Man is full of laughs, steam, some great banter between Layne and Griffin and a whole lot of swoony moments when it comes to Griff. A MUST READ if you’re looking for an age gap, best friends brother romcom.
From the minute Griffin met Layne he has wanted her. He never not once cared that she was older than him. Layne thought that he was handsome but was concerned about his age. And when she found out he was her best friend younger brother?! Forget it; she immediately placed him as off limits. Griffin didn’t care that she was 10 years older or his sister’s best friend, he saw her as a strong independent gorgeous woman. They became very good friends and years passed and his feelings were still the same. The finally she threw caution to the wind and didn’t care about anything else. She realized that Griffin was what she needed all along and what she was missing from her life. The best part?! She was worried for nothing because everyone around them including her best friend saw that they were meant to be and were just waiting for them to open their eyes. Cute read, no drama.
The story was just so so. It took a while for me to see the chemistry between Layne and Griffin, along with several inconsistencies and typos in the first several chapters. The book would've benefited from another thorough editing.
I did like the characters some. Layne, I identified with in a few ways. Griffin, I liked that he had a spontaneous nature and wasn't deterred by Layne's age.
Also, the title is really misleading because for much of the book, they're not even dating.
This was a really lighthearted read so if you're looking for something easy with surface level emotion, give it a go.
Another great read from Ms. Ryan. Age gap romance between an older woman and younger man. Loved it. Layne and Griffin were so cute together. They first met four years ago when he was a massage therapist. She was unaware that he was her best friend’s little brother. Their relationship started out as friends but they more they were together, the chemistry they had for each other was hard to fight. Loved watching them come together. Highly recommend.
I read an early review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
"The guy has six well-defined abs. I have a jiggly ass and muffin top." ~~ a 33-year-old woman is "over the hill"? Huh.
I’m beyond obsessed with age gap romance, and find the chemistry, heat, and passion to be totally incendiary. Flirting transcends to a whole new art form. It’s sort of emotionally taboo terrain, but not really. There’s just something raw about proving the attraction and feelings are real between lovers with an age difference and whether it can work long-term, or sends the MCs into overdrive to work each other out of their systems in the process. After having issues with Penthouse Prince, this book was to be a redemption of sorts. Well, that was my mindset going in …
That said, I love the guy and hate the girl. Griffin was hot, straightforward, interested, respectful, and clearly didn’t care about the age gap between him and lawyer lady Layne. Their 10 year age gap really didn’t even seem like one. But, spare me the clichéd setups, the heroine continuing to push the guy away because “he’s too young” and she wants a husband and a baby. Undeniable chemistry, histrionics, push-pull, a guy who won’t give up and a girl who won’t give in -- when she eventually will anyway. The first several chapters were nothing new other than the way this pair meets over a birthday massage in the office. After that it flat-lined for me. A setup that goes on and on. The spark was lost. I couldn’t even get past the fact that Griffin is the baby bro of Layne’s bestie and yet she’d never met him before, or knows any of bestie’s sibs. How close are you if you don’t know any of that? He actually lives with bestie for a year before the couple meets and the year after – neither of which Layne knows because she obviously never goes there. The chapter flow was jerky. I wasn’t sure what the time-frame was between scenes or encounters. A whole year skips from one scene to the next and jumps from one thing to another. I don’t want to be taken out of the story like that. It wasn’t even entertaining. Layne was just whining and saying no all the time. And the doormat thing – she couldn’t tell that Brian was dooshie after 6 months, when that was everyone else’s first impression of him?
Small segue … Being quarantined by Covid for most of this year made me stir crazy, like … permanent detention ... maximum security prison ... inescapable POW camp. There was alot of re-evaluation. One of those things is the inordinate amount of time invested in reading and reviewing romance novels. What’s the payoff any more? I've started reading other genres and reviewing more products and fewer books. Why buy new books when I haven’t read the old ones yet, and why are so many books not worth reading? Why are authors publishing books like some assembly-line race to Armageddon? Why, why, why? Well, I have some theories. The biggest one is money or rather money grabs, followed closely by lack of original ideas, plagiarizing, and lazy writing. All this does NOT apply to all authors, let alone all the time. And I'm NOT suggesting it applies to this author. But, I'm changing, and my investment in reading and tolerance of bad books is changing, too.
Lightning may strike or I may get torpedoed straight to hell for dumping on two books in a row by an author I've loved for so long, but started to feel ambivalent towards. Recently, it was Penthouse Prince which didn't deliver. Now, this book. To guilty authors: quit writing crap. Stop recycling the same ideas or copying from others or using that not-so-secret program that basically writes the story for you. As for me, truth to power: my patience is worn thin.
As I said, life seems shorter now because of Covid and endless quarantine. If a book doesn’t hold my interest, then I won’t finish it and this book is my jumping off spot. Time to move on to another book and not waste time. I really hope this book didn’t turn into something spectacular after I quit reading… but I don’t think so. Please, Ms. Ryan write me a book that reminds me of all the ones I loved that made me love your writing and characters. Please.
Four years. That’s how long it took these two to figure out their stuff and finally get together. Four. Years. Yeah, yeah, they both had things they needed to learn and figure out during that time in order to be ready for each other, but I wanted them together NOW. And it’s quite possible I got just a liiittle too invested in the lives of these fictional characters. I blame the author.
Layne Anderson isn’t only a high-powered attorney in Los Angeles, but she started her own very successful law practice. She’s brilliant, classy and more than capable. Everything in her life is perfect, really, but she's made her list of desirable attributes and is on the lookout for Mr. Right.
When her employees purchase a massage for Layne's birthday, the massage therapist, Griff, who shows up at Layne’s office with table in tow, is certainly nice eye candy and definitely good with his hands. Although Layne is flattered when Griff asks her out, he checks very few boxes on her Mr. Right list, and he's ten years younger than her. Still, Layne can’t seem to get Griff off her mind, so imagine her surprise when Layne goes to her BFF's apartment and discovers that Griff is her best friend's younger brother!
Doesn’t that make the perfect setup for a terrific romcom? And, if we’re honest, ladies, who of us wouldn’t be flattered by attention from a younger man? But seriously, I wanted to shake Layne so she would get with the program. With as intelligent and capable as she is in her professional life, Layne is completely blind to what's right in front of her face. And Griff, bless his heart, he’s a goner from day one, but I love the way he waits patiently for things to fall into place. In the meantime, he's an amazing friend to Layne and always there when she needs him.
If you love contemporary romance and you haven’t read this talented lady's work yet, you really need to add her to your list of must-reads. She gives us snort-worthy dialog, blushable peach and eggplant scenes, a whole heap of heart, and just enough quirky, memorable characters to keep the reader on her toes.
So get your copy, lock yourself away from interruptions, and fall in love with Layne and Griff. Your time in this book world will be well worth it, and your romantic heart will thank you.
Loved this dating my best friend's younger brother romance!
I really enjoyed How to Date a Younger Man by Kendall Ryan. The story is about Layne who is a lawyer who recently started her own law firm, is a bit of a workaholic, and is in her early thirties. We meet her on her birthday when her office staff chips in and buys her an in-office massage which is given by a young man whose name is Griffen, who is 23 years old, has recently graduated from college, and has taken off a year before he begins grad school to study to become an architect. After Griffen finishes giving Layne her massage, he asks her out to dinner. Layne turns him down because she thinks that she is too much older than Griffen, even though she finds him to be attractive. The next day, Lauren meets up for drinks with her best friend, Kristen, and to Layne's surprise Kristen's younger brother shows up to have drinks with them, too, and Kristen's younger brother turns out to be Griffen. Now Layne is totally convinced that she should not take Griffen up on his offer to go out with him! Layne feels that their ten year age difference is just too much of an age difference, especially since he still has a lot of growing up to do, and she is ready to settle down, get married, and start having babies. She can feel her biological clock ticking away and she wants to find a man who is also ready to get married and start a family. She's always wanted to get married and have a family, and she is getting more frustrated over time that she won't find her "perfect man" and start a family with him, especially since she's not getting any younger.
I really enjoyed this romantic comedy. I liked all of the characters, and feel as if all of their backstories are realistic. The story is original, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a fun romantic comedy!
I love Older Woman/Younger Man romances so it was a given that I would try this one when I saw it. And sadly I was pretty disappointed. I’m not even sure you can consider it a romance as the main characters didn’t get together until much later in the book. They were friends for years before any kind of relationship developed and – well I don’t really consider it much of a romance. It was a pretty well written book, don’t get me wrong, just not what I was hoping. Layne, the heroine is a very successful lawyer in charge of her own practice. She’s very busy in her job and doesn’t have much time for any kind of life outside of it though she is longing to find a husband and have children. She meets Griffin when her staff arrange for him to come to her office and give her a massage. He’s attracted to her right from the beginning but he’s much too young for any kind of relationship even though she finds him attractive in return. She later finds out he’s the younger brother of one of her closest friends which puts him even further out of reach. This book takes place over quite a few years and they have become friends. He’s included in her circle of friends so she sees him fairly often. I found the book confusing as it starts kind of in the middle and then works its way forward, with the two of circling around but Layne still looking for someone to father children with. Then she takes a closer look at this now friend who is younger but still the younger brother of her best friend and begins to see him in a new light.
That’s it. Not nearly enough romance for me. As a romance I can’t recommend it and I know I won’t reread it again.
The author, the cover, and the synopsis sold me on this book. A triple whammy, and as per usual Kendal Ryan did not disappoint. Best friend’s younger brother sexy romance. What’s not to like? There was actually one thing that I was not too keen on. Our heroine, Layne. It took me a while to warm to her, and for one reason alone. She kept putting off Griffin’s advances. If she’d of had a good reason I wouldn’t have minded, but she had a stupid preconceived notion that because Griffin was 10 years her junior there could never be a possibility that a relationship with them could work. As someone who doesn’t think that age matters in a relationship I struggled with her not accepting the 10 year age gap. Yes, it’s more unconventional for a younger man to be with an older woman, but I’m all for it. She had the answer to her dreams right in front of her and she chose not to see it. When she started coming around to my way of thinking, the story really heated up. Then we have Griffin. He was perfect, I loved him. Oh, and let’s not forget that cover. I loved it! It summed up exactly how I imagine Griffin looked. Let me also say, he had a heart of gold, and he would have done anything for Layne. I’m just so glad she finally came to her senses. A sweet, funny, sexy romance that I had trouble putting down. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.
Its a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4.5 stars for Griffin and Layne's slow burn, angsty, age gap, forbidden romance story! Narrators Christian Fox and Emma Wilder was a listen that I could not put down.
Griffin (age early-mid twenties) was Layne's (age early-mid thirties) masseuse that was a gift from her coworkers. At first sight Griffin attracted to this beauty and had even asked her out; however Layne (who also finds him attracted) denies his request. The age gap along with the assumptions she has on someone his age is one she has a challenging grasping and is better to go on their separate ways.
When they met once again the discovery that the hottie Griffin was her best friend's brother made things interesting. Still denying to go out with him especially due to his age and believing he is not ready for the lifestyle she is seeking they remain friends over the years. Their growing connection is making things harder to keep things platonic. Griffin is constantly hinting on wanting more but regardless he would be there for Layne in anyway she chooses.
Cannot help fall for Griffin. He was persistent and patience and had me swooning. Their chemistry is off the charts intense and compatible to each other regardless where they are staged in life. Get ready to be hot and bother in hopes for more for these two.
I have to say as a vintage gal myself, I love this trope! The younger man, older woman dynamic is intriguing to me and makes me feel a bit better when I check out a younger fella! My favorite saying is "Just because I am on a diet, doesn't mean I can look at the dessert tray!!"
This is the lovely story of Griffin and Layne.
Layne is a powerhouse! She is excelling in her career and makes no apologies about it. I admired her independence and her fierceness in her field. Making her way on her own terms. When she first meets Griffin, she likes what she sees, but feels there is no future in such a younger fella.
Griffin is just swoon central! He may be young, but he knows what he wants. He will take Layne any way he can get her. Even to the detriment of his heart.
Griffin and Layne's relationship is white hot and Ms. Ryan writes some of the best smexy scenes I have ever read!

Kendall Ryan is one of my favorite authors and How To Date A Younger Man did not disappoint. The characters have flaws and fears that they both need to work through. For example, our hero has some growing up to do even though he's as sweet as he is sexy. Our heroine has to let go of her preconceived notions of the perfect husband and realize everything she's ever wanted in life has been right in front her. Oh, if only she'd muster up the courage to go after it. Maybe she will, maybe she won't. Only time will tell.Read More...
