Princess Kerra and Lavenderra come from two vastly different worlds.
With all the royal luxuries, the queen-to-be Princess Kerra's life seems perfect. But she is apprehensive about the future and doesn't feel she is ready to take on the responsibility— until she meets Venx, a cave-dweller and former leader who has fallen from glory. Wanting to be different from the rulers before her, she's determined to help him and his people win back what they have lost.
Lavenderra has worked on her family's farm since she was a child. Lonely and growing weary of her repetitive lifestyle, her future seems to take a turn for the better when she meets Tan, a mysterious but kind boy who lives in utopia. The two instantly befriend each other. But their happiness is short-lived when a long-forgotten enemy emerges and is determined to seek revenge.
Embroiled in a brutal conflict, Princess Kerra and Lavenderra must fight both external and internal forces as they make difficult choices and realize that things aren't quite as they seem.
Dhriti Aiylam has wanted to be a writer for as long as she can remember. She wrote her debut novel, Double-Edged, at age 14, and worked on it all throughout high school. Now a freshman at Northeastern University, she is so excited that her book is finally out and can't wait to share it with the world!
Double-edged is a story written about a princess called Kerra and a farm girl called, Lavenderra. Princess Kena is in line for the throne. The responsibility of it all is too much for her, but Vent, a charming cave dweller, changes all that. She teams up with him to help him with what he has lost and to help his people at the same time.
On the other hand, Lavenderra, who is a farm girl, meets Tan, and they both hit it off immediately. However, things get in the way as trouble arises, and as their past affects their future. This caused conflict between the two, and the relationship was then fought for in order to survive.
I personally enjoyed the two girl protagonists’ storylines. The dynamic and dialogue between the characters were engaging. The pace was steady, and the author clearly tried to keep the story interesting.
The tale possessed multiple layers. There even was Illustrations of the kingdoms at the beginning. The world was fantasy-oriented.
It was filled with magic and adventure. The two separate stories mixed together and created a beautiful experience. I would recommend this book to readers who like coming of age stories and read fantasy novels.
