Lawyers, Guns and Money

Who protects the sheep from the wolves? Another wolf.

Will Kane suffers from undiagnosed Asperger and is a high functioning autistic, like a number of exceptional people, especially in the arts. Except his art is death and he is very, very good at it.

New York City. 1977. Ex-Green Beret William Kane has crossed the line he vowed never to: killing. But for every action there is a reaction and there are forces after him for revenge, chief among them the IRA. The CIA hasn’t forgotten about him either after his involvement in covert ops in Vietnam.

There is an elite team of IRA soldiers in New York City and they’ve gotten their hands on some powerful weaponry. What is their target? When will they strike?

As the long hot summer of 1977 drags on and the Bronx burns, Kane does some burning of his own, unraveling secrets from his past and helping those who need his particular brand of justice while tracking the terrorists.

His problem: where is his new line?

Who can he really trust?

Besides my own interests, I read whatever my wife tells me to read-- she's a voracious reader and has wide-ranging tastes as my reviews show (she also always has the TV remote and she's always right about what to watch). I read a lot of nonfiction, mostly for research. Some of my favorite books are Lonesome Dove, Mystic River, LOTR, and an array of science fiction classics including the Foundation series. Our house is covered with books, although I finally broke down and started reading eBooks, strangely enough on my iPhone. Since I carry it pretty much everywhere, it means I always have an entire library of books with me.

I'm a West Point graduate, former Green Beret and a New York Times Bestselling Author. I've sold over five million books. My newest series begins with New York Minute, a thriller set in New York City in 1977.

I love using history and science in my books. My Area 51 series pretty much had me rewriting our entire history of civilization.

A Fascinating Story With A 'War'' Starting In New York

This is a thrilling book of several old Green Berets who find Provos from Ireland starting action that will cause the USA to act against the IRA, believing that they are the cause! Many bad things are done by those we think are on our side, FBI, CIA and some in the police force. A longtime army man, working odd jobs now with some amazing friends and contacts, has his nose into everything happening in his city. Not always a good thing, as he increases the number of enemies with every wrong he tries to make right!
This book grabs your attention from the very start and keeps it through every fight and scary move. Definitely a big recommendation from me to all who enjoy thrillers with hints of military action.

Picks up where New York Minute left off. This one has Kane chasing down some IRA members who are planning an attack in NYC.

Mayer..... A Genius!!!!

This is another wonderful novel by Bob Mayer. I started reading and couldn’t put it down till it was finished. He is the master of mixing fact and fiction together and in a way that makes perfect sense and is very believable and entertaining. There hasn’t been an author with his talents that I’ve ever read. He is easily on of my favorite authors. Each new book seems better than the previous, which I would have thought couldn’t be accomplished. Thank you Mr. Mayer for all the entertainment and knowledge you have bestowed to me over the years.

Far too convenient

If Kane doesn't gamble he should, everything just falls into place for him at just the right time
He has a few bumps in the road to keep things interesting, but the main thread just from A to B to C with no real hiccups and all seems just a tad too easy
The relationships between the characters is interesting and hopefully they become more so, in truth, it's the only real suspense in the book

Brilliant

This was even better than the first. Interesting, intriguing, action packed, fast paced & historical. The characters are immensely captivating in that they are mostly just an odd mix of ordinary folk trying to live their best lives. I loved it cause it’s slightly different. Very appealing.

Couldn't get into the story line

I’m enjoying this new series.

Great book. The setting is very interesting. Omg they want 13 more words and I ain’t feeling it. Sigh. Sigh.

Typical Bob Mayer excellence. Hard to put down after starting and ready for the 3rd novel. Have read practically all of Mayer's books and have not been disappointed with any of them. Excellent author.

Good read

A fast pace thriller that I couldn't put down. Kane is amazing as usual. Cannot wait for book number 3 to come out in December.
