2.5 Meh
I have a bad feeling about this book. My feeling is that the plot will never actually start and this will continue to be a boring read.
So, book 3/4 now. Only 1 book left and nothing really happened.
The MC is still kinda where she started (no character development whatsoever), the plot is non-existent, despite its huge potential (these 3 books have been kinda standalone books, just detective stuff, no real story in the background), and there is no feeling when reading.
All in all, a boring read.
Will go on with the last book as well, just out of curiosity (I'm still waiting for the MC to reveal her kickass power and become queen of the Underworld or something).

Hexes and Flames is the third book in the Dark files series by Kim Richardson.
Sam is called to investigate a series of humans deaths in New York. She find out the person responsible for those murders is using a magical virus. She new ot figured out who's responsible and quick because more people will die.
I really loved this book and love Faris that i find really funny, Can't wait to read the next book in this serie.

Après une grosse déception avec le tome précédent, je suis contente d’avoir voulu tenter celui-ci, car j’ai retrouvé le style de l’auteure, les codes de l’Urban ( romance en arrière plan et action et intrigue en amont )

Hasta el capítulo 20 le hubiera dado 2.5⭐️. Pobre espalda de Faris debe estar cansado de estar cargando esta saga.
Yo entiendo que pase una cosa una, la segunda te la paso pero ¿enserio tres veces lo mismo? Es que ya se vuelve todo muy repetitivo y no sorprende.
La protagonista me caí muy bien en el primer libro pero mientras más pasan los libros más la voy detestando. Es que me la ponen cada vez más tonta, arrogante, egocéntrica y para el colmo toma una decisión que Dios mío mátame rápido.
¿Mi mayor problema? Creo que lo he dicho desde el primer libro y ese es el protagonista masculino. Que interés amoroso más mierda, después que la tipa lo salvó, confío en él para contarle algo súper personal de ella e hizo tantas cosas por él y aún así no le da ni el mas mínimo atismo de confianza, solo la trata mal y después vuele como si nada.
Se nota que la autora es buena creando situaciones durante todo el libro (paso igual en los otros dos) para que al final pase una pelea épica que uno quede loco, pero la verdad es que siempre al final se soluciona todo súper rápido y queda uno decepcionado.
Pd: solo sigo leyendo por Faris.🖤✨

Nope I didn't like this one
The best thing about this book and the last book is Faris. He's the only thing that's kept me reading, but I have to throw in the towel.
I don't know why Samantha works the job she does, because honestly she's terrible at it.
Every. Single. Time. She starts with the tough talk that goes a little something like this,
"I'm gonna find those baddies and make them wish they were never born, they'll pay for what they've done, I'm gonna kick their a$$!"..... 😒
then Sam and the baddies finally meet, and they promptly kick Sams butt, while Sam sits there thinking " I don't know what to do! I'm gonna die!"🙄
She gets away with her life just barely, goes home to lick her wounds, and then the whole circus starts again. 😵 Over and over this keeps happening, and almost everyone in Sams life treats her like crap...bla bla bla boring!😴

Thrilling from start to finish!
Once again Sam dazzles us with her ability to kickass at the spur of the moment, and totally by the seat of her pants! She's tough, strong, fierce and has a soft spot for those around her. So much is thrown at Sam in Book 3, making the story thrilling from start to finish. I was on the edge of my seat in utter anticipation of what could possibly be thrown at her next.
I absolutely love Faris, he's funny, witty and very sexy for a demon!
Fantastic writing and storytelling keeping us readers on our toes begging for more! I can't wait for the next book to see where this amazing author takes us next!

I love paranormal series. This is the third book in Kim Richardson's Dark Files series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but does have references to things that happened in the first two books, so it is THAT much better when the books are read in order. Book 1 is Spells & Ashes. Book 2 is Charms & Demons. Book 3 is Hexes & Flames, this one. As usual, the characters are unique to this series and wonderful. Although they all have flaws, they definitely grow on you. The end result is that I can't wait to see what happens next with these guys - I want more!

I know I can't be the only one shipping Faris and Sam. I mean come on! Faris is the absolute best!!! I will say that I loved the ending to this book. Honestly, the series could have stopped there and I would have been happy. A little disappointed that it was over. But still happy with the way it went.

I enjoyed this book more than the previous two. There was less “I’ve got a plan and I can definitely beat them, whoops, they’re more powerful, how’s I going to get out of this alive, AHA!”
I mean there’s still plenty of times she’s in over her head, but there’s less arrogance from her, a bit more thought.

Me gustó la historia. Todas hasta el momento siguen un patrón.. Pero la historia nunca pierde la acción y siempre aparece un villano aparentemente invencible. Sami, como le dice Faris, es un excelente personaje aunque un poco impulsiva e irracional. No ha muerto de milagro. No me gusta Logan.. Creo que estaría mejor con Faris. La trata mal, después bien como si nada.

This is great! The last thing she could have expected was her new familiar. He does his job, helping her to stay out of trouble. I love these characters and the story line. Can't wait for the next one. Want to see what happens with the two of her familiars.

Repetitive
Sam goes through the same self doubts and struggles as the past books. Logan and Poe acts like jerks. It wasn’t an enjoyable read. I will persist as I like the world but it needs a bit more joy.

Lectura amena y llena de sorpresas.
El tema y narrativa fue de primera. En ocasiones se me hizo difícil dejar la lectura para irme a dormir. Lo recomiendo a todo el que guste la ficción, la magia y la acción continua con algo de romance.

I want to like this series....but the love interests Logan pisses me off, why she would like a guy who treats her like crap is beyond me. Sam could be a bad ass but she isn't and the only redeeming character is Faris. I love Faris. Sam should end up with him at least he treats her well.

The lore history in this is intriguing enough that I wish there was more of it. Fun read. Faris is still my go to though.

Sin dudas es el libro que más me ha gustado hasta ahora.
La trama se construye muy bien y la participación de los demonios ha sido un 10 absoluto, ahora bien, la relación con Logan me ha dejado un poco con ganas de más, ya que no tenemos mucha conexión entre ellos hasta la mitad del libro y al final los tenemos juntos. Si, se está construyendo desde el inicio, pero si en este era en el que llegaríamos a la consolidación, eché en falta más escenas entre ellos, alejados de la trama de los magos.
Tengo muchas ganas de saber en qué está metido Poe y espero que en el siguiente por fin tengamos el desenlace del padre ya que si lo han traído espero que sea para darle el final que se merece.
Una serie que llego a mi vida por casualidad y que se ha ganado un hueco dentro de las historias de fantasía que disfruto.

Stregonerie e Fiamme è il terzo volume della serie Il Caso Oscuro di Kim Richardson.
Avevamo lasciato la nostra strega oscura Sam ancora sconvolta dopo la sua disavventura nell’Aldilà. Ci avrebbe lasciato le penne se non fosse stato per l’aiuto del demone Faris che ora è diventato il suo famiglio, l’unico modo per mantenere la promessa di salvarlo dalla vendetta dei suoi simili.
Sam inoltre si è dimessa ufficialmente dalla Corte delle streghe oscure per la quale gestiva e risolveva problemi e crimini che nessuno voleva affrontare, come per esempio demoni che scappano dal Velo, lo strato invisibile che separa il mondo terrestre dall’Aldilà. Insomma è una sorta di poliziotta paranormale. Non ha perdonato al consiglio di averla trattata con sufficienza e pietà.
Nonostante questo, non può fare a meno di accorrere quando viene chiamata a investigare su una serie di morti misteriose per due motivi: non può permettersi di rifiutare la ricompensa che le viene offerta dato che deve pur mangiare e mantenere ben due famigli e soprattutto perché è una persona buona e non sopporta che qualcuno di innocente muoia a causa di un potente virus magico.
Ciò che scopre è qualcosa di davvero pericoloso: qualcuno che si credeva ormai estinto da tempo è tornato, vuole vendetta e riprendersi il potere che crede gli sia stato ingiustamente tolto prendendo di mira licantropi, vampiri, angeli nati, fate, folletti e persino umani.
Sam è presuntuosa e saccente, brava e potente, ma questa volta non può farcela da sola e, a malincuore, deve accettare tutto l’aiuto possibile. Vuole dimostrare alla Corte che è coraggiosa e che vale. Ce la farà? A voi scoprirlo.
Vi posso però dire che riuscirà a trovare un’energia che forse neanche lei sapeva di possedere attingendo alle emozioni, una forza capace di trainare il mondo.
La rabbia si risvegliò, una tempesta di emozioni mi travolse come uno tsunami. Era una rabbia nera, un bisogno travolgente di uccidere e distruggere. La marea attraversò il mio corpo come un fulmine, bruciante e dolorosa, ma al contempo bellissima. Quando la marea si ritirò, una calma profonda riempì la mia mente.
Stregonerie e Fiamme è migliorato rispetto agli altri due volumi, ma la caratterizzazione dei personaggi resta superficiale. Si legge, sì, velocemente, è molto dinamico e ricco di azione, ma resta solo quello.
C’è un piccolissimo spazio anche per la sua pseudo-storia con Logan, l’angelo nato a capo della Casa di Michael. Anche questa trattata in modo veloce e sbrigativo.
Sapevo che iniziare una relazione con lui era una follia, che avremmo incontrato ostacoli, ma allo stesso tempo sentivo che era la cosa giusta. E in quel momento, non mi importava di cosa pensassero gli altri. Mi importava solo di noi.
Il personaggio migliore è stato Faris, il demone che ha un cuore, anche se non lo ammetterebbe mai. È stato divertente leggere i battibecchi tra lui e Sam. Il voto in più è tutto per lui.
Alla prossima avventura che dovrebbe essere l’ultima di questa serie.
