He once said that he loves me. Now he always shows that he hates me.
Adam Collins was once supposed to be the boy I’d love forever. But then he got mean just before high school. So mean, in fact, that he would have me in tears wherever and whenever we crossed paths.
I’ve tried to ignore him. I’ve tried to understand him. Now, I’m going to try and fight back.
Because the thing about Adam is that no matter how cruel he is, no matter how angry he gets, I can’t stop thinking of him. And I’m going to make damn sure that he doesn’t stop thinking about me if he remains the bully.
bwahahahahahahaaaaa NOOOOOOOOO if there was a zero rating this one would totally get it please for your own sake DO NOT READ THE BOOK i was like ok girl i know this may not be right but let's read about a bully and how the ML would fall in love while acting like a mean j****, yes i'm guilty in here but a bit of hate love once in while is refreshing somehow oooooo how wrong was i . the ML a teen in a body of 18 years old adulte, all he did in the book was shouting , saying f**** and giving the FL a hard time ( i've seen other leads do worst if you ask me ), and tell you what the reason for this ....... to do all this drama cause his stepdad told him there is no love in this world between stangers and it' all lies just like that the ML was done for , he broke up with the FL and started his j**** periode . it's not like the ML was so fond of the stepdad so when the later was drunk and spoke some cruel words and give his widsome thoughts , the hart of the poor ML was broke non mais he hated him why did this effected him like that , and for real!!! he say there is no love out there and you got programmed in a sec ? pleaaaaasse free me of this s*** this was ment to be kind of deep past a one that effected and had a big impact on the ML so much that it left some scars on him , well it was a bwaah and BS a ridiculous s**** FL : living in the past still thinking of that boy and wondering what happened to him , then knowing that you did not actually know anything about him . pfff thing is i was not intrested in her at all and frankly the ML made me mad enough that i could not see anyone else Also i may have no right to speak about grammar since my eng is not the best of the best but at least it's my 3rd language so i think i get a pass but this auther here and the editor should have done better
This book was so BAD oh my God. There is no redeeming qualities and he's an idiot for listening to his step father and believing what he said from like 13 to 18. WHAT AN IDIOT.
I am not going to lie I went in to this thinking it could be like the falling away series and after reading a few reviews I was kind of reluctant to start reading it, but I was pleasantly surprised and did really enjoy Emily and Adam’s story.
Adam doesn’t let anyone close not even his own brother, he has his boys and they rule the school there is only one person that is a threat to his equilibrium and that is Emily the one girl that holds more power than she knows. It’s been three years since they were together and as much as he has pushed her away he keeps her close and the focus of his attention by making her life miserable. He wants to hate her but he can’t let her go but what happens when she pushes back and he loses the hold he had and when she starts dating he knows he wants her but has he left it too late and will she let him back in her heart?
Emily had everything that she wanted three years ago but for reasons she doesn’t know lost the man she loved and became the target of all his anger, ridiculed and bullied to the extreme she is counting down the days till she graduates and can leave Adam Collins and his Broad Street Boys behind. But when she makes the decision that this year she will not be the butt of all his jokes and fights back how will Adam handle the new Emily and will she ever get the answers as to why he hates her so much?
This book had loads of potential but there were parts that seemed a little immature, still I enjoyed reading both characters self-revelations and the secondary characters fitted in with the story well. My advice is read for yourself and don’t go in with any preconceived ideas of the story. Would I read again YES and am I going to read the rest of the series YES.
Ok first I was gonna give this book a 4-star rating, then after reading more it went to 3-stars and eventually I ended on 2-stars. This was a real rollercoaster ride for me. I went from liking it to "wtf".
Plot in short: Ex lovers-enemies-lovers Adam and Emily were in love when they were 15 years old. Because of something I find EXTREMELY STUPID he broke up with her and went straight to bullying her. But the bullying was just a mask he put on, because he really still loved her... Wtf right??!!
Emily was a good girl. I liked her. Even though Adam made her time at school a living hell, she didn't give up, she remained strong and later fought back. When Adam was "confused" about what he wanted, she was strong and chose to lay herself bare and give herself to him. She never let him break her even though he broke her heart and I like that about her. She wasn't weak.
Adam on the other hand was a weak piece of crap. The way he treated Emily was horrible. He was such an idiot. His reasons for doing so is just the stupidest thing ever. Like how do you break up with your girlfriend, whom you love, just because your stepdad said all women cheat and she will too. WHAAAATTTT??? OMG!!!
Even as I'm typing this review I wanna go back and give it 1-star, but I'll leave it the way it is.. This book is a waist of time.

My StepDad once said one bad thing to me so I broke up with my girlfriend and acted liked a sex fiend and a bully to everyone around me for three years.
This is the most unlikable male character I have ever read.
I liked the female and the author gave her a backbone and then took it all away with a painted banner.
I enjoy an angsty book where you get both sides of the story! Yes you want to hate Adam but deep down you know he is putting up a shield to prevent more people from hurting him! That is what Emily sees in him and deep down she knows her sweet, loving and kind Adam is still there somewhere hiding from her and all she wants from him is three little words for the last three years of Hell he put her through........"I am sorry". i must admit Emily has the patience of a saint to allow him to bully her like that but you can only push someone so far and then Boom!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story as it is one of my favorite tropes so after reading all the negative reviews about the spelling and grammar and story line, I had to see for myself if this author is redeemable! I am not an Editor just an avid reader and nobody is perfect and mistakes do get overseen. It did not fase me at all and kept me turning the pages!
I am on to the next book as my appetite has been wetted and yes if you cannot stand this trope and want moonlight and roses and fluffy pancakes then this dark, deep, emotional story is not for you!
How did this book even get 3 stars? SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! I don't even know how/why I finished this book. It was terrible from beginning to end. Adam was not likable at all and the way he treated people was horrible and he had no good redeeming qualities
Enjoyed this book a lot. Adam has a bad child hood. His step dad cheats on his mom and is a bad person. He is mean to Emily trying to push her away. Will he succeed in pushing her away or will he fall in love?
It's not to often when I read a book that I just can't really get behind but this is one of them. I love bully reads but this one just didn't add up. Was Adam a bully? Yes, yes he was but to be honest he was extremely naive. I get that he had a rough upbringing and his beliefs were a bit confusing but the back and forth just have me a headache. Not only was he a bully to the Emily but he treated everyone like crap. Even his so called best friends and brother. As for Emily, she did stand up for herself a few times but she really needed a thicker skin. She was like a little desperate puppy just looking for Adams attention and then pretended that she hated it.
The storyline had a lot of potential but didn't feel totally solid. There were several errors I came across. While I know nothing is ever perfect and several things like auto correct can automatically change words into something else, this was not like that. I make mistakes typing all the time but this book had so many typos it was crazy. With a little tweaking this book could be a gem but for now I'm sticking with 2 stars.
Okay, where do I even begin??? So, I gave this a 2-star rating, b/c I always give 1 star for even writing a book. It's a huge accomplishment. If not for that, this story would have received 1 star from me. I saw other poor ratings for it and wanted to form my own opinion about it, b/c everyone's different. I've learned my lesson with this tale.
I am a sucker for enemies-to-lovers, with a bully element. Up until now, I've been fortunate to read stories where the guy is a major jerk, but is ultimately redeemable...in some way...ANY way. This was not the case.
Adam is a grade A jerk. He hurt someone he loved, based on what someone else, a person he couldn't even stand, told him about women. So he listened, pushed Emily away for no reason, then proceeded to bully her for 3 years. Now, maybe that would have been enough to accept, and possibly improve from there, but Emily wasn't the only person he treated horribly.
Typically, in stories like these, the bully (usually the guy, based on my reading history) can be awful, but he/she can still be understood through relationships with other people such as family and friends. Adam had no loyalty to anyone. The way he talked about about his mother, brother, and friends was just heinous. I especially detested the way he treated and talked to/about Kevin, simply b/c Kevin didn't come from money. There were several times he mentioned that in a fight, his friends, Kevin and Nick, could basically demolish him, but that he was still better. I don't know how. He just was, okay? He also mentioned how his clique was the most popular and that football players came in second. He then turned around and acknowledged that people would consider his clique to come in second and the football players first. What? He talks tough about his stepfather, who happens to be the principal at his school, and how he could take him down with what he knows about him, but he constantly backed down. His grand plan to do this was throw a ridiculous rager, with the goal of trashing his own house, just so his parents could find it in disarray. Whoa...hardcore. The party ended up lasting half an hour, with a ton of money spent and Adam looking like the chump he is, with no one calling him out on his epic fail. The worst he actually did was tell him off later and then nothing.
Adam's logic for the awful things he said about his mom was so nonsensical. Some years after he lost his dad, his mom revealed his father had cheated on her and contracted AIDS, yet he was still placed on a pedestal. He knew his stepfather was a serial cheater who didn't really love his mother the way he should and yet he took this man's word and crappy opinion about women as gospel, even though he was drunk off his ass when he said it. He blamed his mother for everything, b/c she told him the truth about his dad and walked away. But not only that, when his dad died, she was so upset that she didn't answer him when he was screaming for her. That's it. She didn't mistreat him, she wasn't mean to him at all, or neglect him, but goodness, she had the audacity to be sad and grieving, probably suffer from some degree of depression, and have the misfortune of choosing cheaters. What an awful woman.
Adam did a whole lot of nothing besides complain, treat people poorly, and then play victim. His brother and friends called him out constantly for his mistreatment of Emily, and he would only double down. Of course, it's shocking that when Nick tells him Emily agreed to be his date for the dance, Adam felt betrayal. How dare his friend, someone he always insults, take his ex, someone he has tortured for years, to a dance? Why, she was supposed to remain alone and pine for him, while he was just horrible b/c that's what he wanted. At one point in this story, he referred to her as being a bully. I couldn't tell if that was awful sarcasm, b/c no. What I found hilarious was that as much as he tried to get in Nick's face, he never once actually did anything. Adam is nothing more than a coward who talks a lot of crap. He has such an over-inflated sense of self worth that astounds.
What can I say about Emily? I can't say as much about her as I can Adam, but what I can is all good. I found her to be strong, intelligent, resilient, and just all around amazing. I loved it when she would go off on him and defend herself. There was no excuse for Adam to treat her the way he did. She never hurt him or betrayed him. There was never a miscommunication or anything that could be misconstrued that warranted his behavior. She is way too forgiving, especially at the end, but no one is perfect. She deserves so much better and Adam is 100% unworthy. I couldn't really get a gauge on her friendships with Samantha and Jackie. There wasn't that much of them, but I do know if I were Emily, my friendship with Jackie would've ended after that party in the beginning. There was nothing after that between them, but they're supposed to be a trio. Then, there was a random line from Emily in the end about Samantha being her best friend and not Jackie (which, obviously, but still). It was just thrown in the epilogue. What a weird dynamic.
Oh, oh! How could I forget? And... he was a big ol' whore who could have any girl he wanted, at any time. The girls just loved him. He's disgusting. At no point did I feel bad for him or root for him, not even in the flashback when he was 5. Don't even care. At the end, he made a comment about how he needed to earned Emily's trust, but that she also had to earn his. How has she not, by that point??? She endured A LOT from him and ultimately forgave him b/c of a banner. She doesn't need to work for anything else from that douche. I'm now re-thinking my 2-star rating.
I'm disappointed with the way this story ended. There was no resolution with Adam and his parents. We were told things about Emily's parents that weren't really explored. I can't buy Adam's new attitude, when he hasn't apologized or changed his tune with his so-called friends. Kevin needs to pop him one. I've had it.
I have the other books in the series, but it may be a while before I read them. I need to decompress.

Adam might have been a good boy at one time but his step father changed him dramatically. His step father was the high school principal who put on a dramatic role while in public but at home it was a different story. His mother wasn't there emotionally since his father's death. I felt so sorry for Adam. Lonely. Unloved. Now Adam started heading down the path of destruction. After breaking up with Emily, Adam became cold, distant and a complete ahole. The only person that has ever loved him and him her. Constantly belittling her not only in private but public. Deep down he still loved her. Yep. Always hurt the ones you love the most. Emily is a sweetheart and strong. She only has eyes for Adam. For three years she put up with his humiliation. A love/hate relationship but she knew something deep down was bothering him for him to act this way. Will Adam ever come to his senses?
Whoever edited this book needs to be fired. So many grammatical errors and the dialogue felt weird and unnatural. The characters were extremely unlikeable and had a horrible and toxic relationship. Do not waste your time.
I wish this wasn’t the case, but I did not finish the book. I think the plot and the characters could have worked but the execution was off. Adam was just mean and unredeemable. Nothing that happened in the portions I read made sense. And the book seriously needs editing.
So many grammatical mistakes in this book. It was so bad that several sentences had to be reread and reworded in my head just to make sense. Wouldn’t recommend.
the difference between a toxic relationship and an enemy's to lovers is something this book mixed up. that relation was t o x I c. the guy was a jerk and the girl fell into his arms and bed before he apologized. then he broke her heart and insulted her, apologised to her then they got back together, and that was the whole book.
his redeeming qualities are - he apologized wants Emily and I tried really hard to find more but couldn't
the girl 'fought back' she slapped him for calling her a slut and that's about it
there's no connection, passion or love between Emily and adam. it's not one of those ships where you just NEED the characters to get together like they don't need to even be around each other for u as a reader to know that they were in love. it was just so off.
I read alot of this genre and what stuck out a mile with this book was that it was written by a man. Don't get me wrong I've read lots of romance books by men and they have been great. This one had so much potential but the plot was awful, the supporting characters were weak and I didn't like the main characters much. The reason for the hero to bully the heroine just didn't sit right with me but maybe that's because I'm a woman. I also didnt like the way that Adam was such an a## to his friends and they all tolerated it...like really??? Some reviews say the grammar is bad but I didn't notice this to be honest. I just wanted more depth to the story and characters. Glad it was a HEA and I did finish it.
I enjoyed the book, but there had been a few things about it that made me a bit annoyed. For example the heroine forgave way to easily, and the hero never really work that hard for the girl he wanted. Love the wag they where written but i would have like a but more growth for the characters and i also love that Emily alwasy stayed with her beliefs but still think she forgave way to fast. I would have like for Adam to have had to work a bit more to prove himself. I do love that Emily was big on wanting to know what was happening to be able to forgive and never didnt at least try to forgive someone even if she didnt want them in her life afterwords. Adam pissed me off and that is saying something. because I do enjoy bully romances but I wish there was more growth.
First book to be read by Jacob Allen. This was the first bully romance in my opinion that did not make sense to me. Majority of the bullies, bully the girl because they moved, or they lost a loved one and blamed the girl, or etc. Adam bullied emily because his step dad cheated and his step dad basically said all women are no good. So he took that and ran with his. Adam had some major mood swings, I will say this Emily was the first girl out of all my book romances to make adam work for it. Majority of the bully romances the girls become intimate with their bullies like immediately. She made him work for it.
This one was super iffy for me…I get that the story is set in high school but Adam and Emily acted more like they were in middle school half the time. Adam was a jerk just to be a jerk, I know he had issues but they seriously didn’t make sense to me and Emily seemed like a doormat more often than not. The ending also seemed super rushed for my liking.
The story had so much potential but the characters were incredibly immature. The main female character had no grit, no backbone and was too forgiving, more than was logical.
Bully romances aren’t usually my genre, but I’ve got to admit... I liked it. Adam has his flaws, but he clearly cares for Emily and the depth of emotion between them really made this book what it is. The story follows Adam, one of the Broad Street Boys aka the king of his prep school. Emily is the only girl he’s ever cared about - they dated for months in 8th grade - but family problems led him to push her away, and now he bullies her in an attempt to keep her at a distance. Emily loved Adam when they dated, and she knows that something drove him away, but she’s never understood how he could change so completely overnight. She puts up with his bullying because she’s knows that deep down he’s not a bad guy, and if he’s treating her that way, he must have his reasons for doing so.
This is definitely the best bully romance I’ve read - it’s compelling and easy to read, and the dual perspectives help the reader understand why Adam acts the way he does. As always with this genre, the underlying reasons for Adam’s actions are a little naive and juvenile... but he is a high school senior, and he started bullying Emily when they were freshmen. I appreciated that Emily has a backbone - she stands up to him on several occasions. And though Adam may push her boundaries, I never felt like he crossed a line of no return (he would never do anything to physically harm Emily, and deep down she understands that). Overall, this book is definitely worth a read - if this is the start to a new series (which I’m guessing it is), I will check out the next one without hesitation.

This story had good bones. The massive amount of spelling and grammatical errors were way distracting. I am still wondering if the author of this book speaks English as a second language, and I don't mean that in a mean way. This book needs some serious editing. I enjoyed the story, though I had a big issue with Emily. I'm glad she wasn't some meek, weak @$$ heroine, but I hated how little respect she had for boundaries. She was too quick to demand things go her way or no way at all, and felt like she used it against the Hero. She ended up ruining the last couple chapters for me. She used his horrible behavior as an excuse to be an overbearing jerk right back to him. I hated and loved Adam. I felt he definitely had some redeeming qualities, I just hated the power switch at the end. I ended up feeling bad for him, and disliking her. This story has some legit potential. If you can find a way to ignore the errors, it's a good story. Just hard to read
ok this book surprised me! I usually don't like this genre but this fascinated me and I have to tell you I was rooting for Emily and Adam from the first word to the very last. Emily puts up with so much but she knows that Adam isn't what he is portraying when he bullies her. She doesn't understand why all of a sudden he flipped literally overnight! I was concerned that maybe she was letting her heart lead and maybe she imagined what her feelings were when they were together in middle school, I finally understood. This is one of the best stories I have read in this genre and if there is anymore coming I would invest in this series. Very well written and the characters will leave you feeling fulfilled.
