In 1991, her advice column, “Ask Rat Dog,” was syndicated by King Features, leading to appearances on virtually every major TV talk & news show of the decade, including Oprah (3 times), Larry King Live and Good Morning America.
Faron has authored three books (“Missing Persons” & “Rip-off,” published by Writer’s Digest; and the self-published, “A Nasty Bit of Business”) and been the subject of “Hastened to their Graves,” a true crime by Edgar award-winning author, Jack Olsen.
In 2001, Faron sold her detective agency and moved to Louisiana, where she was named “Ferrygodmother of New Orleans” in 2016 for saving the local ferry system. In 2020, she was awarded Marquis Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award” for her investigative endeavors and community activism.
“Journey of an Ex-Teetotaling Virgin” is a memoir of her traveling years right out of college.

Way back in the early 1990's I got a judgement against someone who battered me and broke a lot of my possessions. The judge kept asking me, "What else did he break? What else?" So, thanks Judge... but how was I going to collect that money?
I found this book by Fay Faron, a private detective at the Rat Dog Dick Detective Agency ... I believe I bought a paperback copy at a bookstore in the local mall. Perfect! Just what I needed.
According to her website she got her start as an illegal skip tracer, and later became a private eye in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her book was perfect for me. It told me how to skip trace and how to collect on the debt, and did it in an easy-to-read way, with lots of humor. It was a wonderful way to get the information.
And yes, I got my money. Thanks, Fay Faron.
By the way - if you want a copy of the book, this could be a good option. I wasn't able to find a good photo of the cover though there's a small picture on her website.
