The Revelation of Bahá'u'lláh is a four-volume series about the Scriptures of the Bahá'í Faith. It is a unique survey of the Writings of Bahá'u'lláh, using both authentic English translations and original sources, that describes the contents of all major works, including many unknown in the West.
Volume 1 First of four volumes on the Writings of the Founder of the Bahá'í Faith during His forty-year ministry, describing their contents, including much as yet untranslated, with fascinating descriptions of the circumstances of the time and the persons addressed. Vol. 1 covers Bahá'u'lláh's period of exile in Baghdád, 1853-63
Very informative, well written and inspiring; this historical analysis of the first ten years of Baha’u’llah’s Revelation is a true masterpiece. Taherzadeh doesn’t shy away from giving the reader nitty-gritty details of this time period and his commentary on Baha’u’llah’s early works (The Book of Certitude, The Tablet of The Holy Mariner etc.) is truly fascinating.
Will be tapping into this text for quite some time.
I thought this was a good book in the starting mission of Baha’u’llah’s life. It was very detailed. I recommend it if you want to know most of Baha’u’llah’s movements. I do not recommend it if you just want an overview of his life though.
From a Baha'i perspective, this is a good overview of the first decade of Baha'u'llah's mission, ending on his public announcement of His Station. Having read this book originally when it was released and now reading it again five plus decades later, the mixture of important figures associated with his beginning decade with the Divine Revelation is both frustrating and confusing. I understand the wisdom behind this, but for a newer adherent to the Baha'i Faith, this may lead them to simply walk away rather than sticking out. Overall this still remains a favorite of mine, especially now when all four volumes have been published.
This book is most suitable for Baha’is. The late Adib Taherzadeh is one of my favorite Baha'i authors, and, in all honesty, when I first started reading them in my mid-twenties, I can say that they changed my life. I've read pretty much all his books at least twice. I took my time with this one in order to get the most out of it. It’s a very dense book, and not one that I felt like rushing through. Volume 2 will be next.
In the Foreward, the author states “This book is an attempt to describe, in language however inadequate, something of the supreme spiritual phenomenon of this age, namely, the Revelation of Bahá’u’lláh.” This is the first of a four-book series.
What an interesting Book to read. Filled with stories about different prominent Bahá’ís, these narratives are sweet testimonies to the power of Bahá’u’lláh and His revelation. What an amazing tale!
