In Peter’s eyes, Damon Prince was a lot of things.
1. A fierce, dangerously capable alpha.
2. An annoyingly (endearingly) protective asshat.
3. The sexiest man on the planet.
(He was a pretty good kisser too.)
Damon would argue that Peter ought to add big, bad wolf to the list. Emphasis on the bad part.
Damon had never made to hide the fact that he was the villain in the strange, supernatural turn Peter’s life had taken since being bitten. He had shoved that little tidbit down Peter’s throat even. (Peter wished the man would consider shoving other things down his throat – things that weren’t “little” in the slightest.)
He took every opportunity to remind Peter of his violent past, to hammer it through his skull that he wasn’t a good guy. That there was blood on his hands.
But the thing of it was, Peter had never truly believed him. (How could he when those supposedly blood-stained hands were always so gentle with him?)
Peter had long ago come to the conclusion that Damon wasn’t nearly as big and bad as the man wanted him to think.
…until suddenly, he was.
Big Bad is the second book in the Big Bad Wolves series, and the sequel to Little Red. It is highly recommended you read the books in order.
Please note the trigger warnings in the front matter.
The first book was good, but the second one was a bit boring. The plot got dragged and no big surprises. Where's a menacing and very bad character in this book? The ponytail wolf is a "villain" joke. The guy can't be threatening, he just knows how to make fucking ridiculous threats. Oh, Peter's very boring in this second book, Peter's a wolf who almost got raped by a simple human, it was ridiculous. Wolves heal fast, where's the quick cure? Wolves don't get fucking scars.
Too many mistakes in this book! Peter's thoughts are shameful. Another thing that hurt my reading was to keep remembering that the author plagiarized her own MF story. I couldn't like this story so much after I heard about it.
2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣ Sadly, I was unable to add a star to my rating. Once again, the MCs spend much time apart, dealing with relationship and communication issues. External conflicts from family and villains persist. The happy moments are minor compared to their struggles.
Damon is the older alpha, while Peter is the younger omega. I disliked the fact that, although Damon often behaved like an alpha, he acted more like a beta in the bedroom. The author focused heavily on consent, which led to Peter having to chase after Damon and push him into mating. It made the big mating scene where Peter lost his virginity, less enjoyable.
Then I didn't like how Peter treated his parents, after he grieved for them for months, believing they were dead. More about that below.
🔥 There are three sex scenes. Two are medium-steam and relatively short. The third and final scene, when the MCs mate, is the longest and steamiest.
THE PLOT: (Spoilers Below!) Seven months have passed since Peter arrived in Whitewater, and five months since the conclusion of the first book. Damon has become the head alpha.
An overprotective Damon causes strife, when he refuses to let Peter compete in the Recruiting Rites to prove himself. This stresses out the pack. Knave, from book one, demands that Peter compete for his own secret reason. Peter competes and beats Blaze. Damon, who's proud of him, apologizes.
On his 18th birthday, the pack throws Peter a surprise party. However, memories of past birthdays with his parents grieves him, and the pack comforts him. Damon gifts Peter a wolf earring adorned with precious gems, symbolizing their bond. They each wear one. The night ends with their first sex scene.
Knave is one of the villains. He secretly leaves gifts (dead animals) for Peter, hoping to have him in his pack. When that fails, he gives Peter a pic of his parents and tells him they're still alive.
25% Mark: An enraged Peter leaves for Minnesota. Damon and the pack follow Peter, to keep an eye on him and try to win him back. Damon picks a temporary head alpha until he returns. They're in MN for 3 weeks.
Peter's return home is met with joy but also suspicion, when he lies and says that he had amnesia (plus other lies). His dad, the town sheriff, knows he's lying, while his mom is just happy he's home. Both watch Peter carefully and worry about him, which he resents.
Peter's sister, Savannah, and her husband Chad, have been staying with the parents after the dad had a heart attack. Chad is the second villain.
Peter sees how much life has changed when he learns his old friend, Scott, now has a girlfriend and is friends with Jackson, the guy who used to bully Peter.
The 3rd week (50%), Damon apologizes and explains he lied out of fear of losing Peter. He then confesses his love for him. They reconcile and share tender moments during the full moon, and when Damon sneaks into Peter’s bedroom.
Chad outs Peter to his parents, which doesn't go well. Then he tries to sexually assault Peter in the kitchen. Damon saves him and beats Chad up. The parents not approving of Damon and then wanting Peter to see a therapist, is what causes Peter to decide to leave.
🪦 Later, Damon
Garrett, Damon’s pack beta, was a jerk in book one but proves his worth here by counseling Peter and sharing his story. He's the son of Alpha Burns, Blaze's brother, and former friend of Knave. Damon accepted and helped him despite his past. Garrett asks Peter to give Damon and the pack a second chance. They all really miss and need him.
At 70%, Peter reunites with his relieved pack members and new family. He returns to Canada without saying goodbye to his parents. He only left a note!
😠 Peter calls his dad a month later to say he's fine. He cuts his dad off after a few minutes, and doesn't talk to his mom. He plans to call again a month later, but it's unknown if he did. This is so wrong! As a parent, I would be heartbroken if my child did this to me.
Back in Whitewater, Damon works a lot and Peter rarely sees him. Peter has to pursue Damon and force him to mate him. 😤
Knave gets the MCs to do a mating run in the woods, where Damon will claim Peter. Knave captures Peter to claim him, but he's angry to learn that Damon beat him to it. He then decides to kill Damon to sever their bond. Peter escapes his silver handcuffs and kills Knave, but not before Damon is shot with a silver bullet. Peter removes it, and refuses to leave Damon's side as he lays comatose for days. Garrett tricks Peter into eating.
❤️ After Damon wakes up, Peter finally tells him that he loves him.
In the last scene, the pack enjoys a swim at the falls. Damon and Peter express their love and desire for each other. HFN.
◾Blaze and Skylar are the villains in book 3. This is the result of giving villains a second chance.
2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣1️⃣ This book gets 4 stars for its entertainment value. Did I like everything about it? No. Were the communication issues annoying? Yes. But it kept my attention and I never skimmed.
It has one of my favorite tropes: The big, strong, protective alpha, with a smaller, pretty/cute omega. Few books with this trope are written well.
I also liked the "found family" trope. The pack was one big family. They loved and took care of each other. They didn't always get along, but that's how families are. I felt the love between them.
❤️ I felt the love even more between Damon & Peter. Their sexy times are 🔥🥵🔥.
I've read the mixed reviews for book 3. I'm nervous about the angst and torture scenes, but I'm going to attempt to read it b/c it has Mpreg. I'll skim/skip over the disturbing parts. 🫣
Edited to Add: Book 3 was my least favorite. The MCs are barely together, I had to completely skip over Peter's horrific torture scenes, and the HEA wasn't long enough or satisfying.

I'm really enjoying this series so far. This one is better than the first. I enjoy shifter books, and the family pack dynamic is really strong here. Damon's absolutly got the hot over-protective Alpha bit going on. Little Red is nobody's sub though. He's a fiesty little shit. Just like the first book, I can't wait to read more. Book one was almost no heat, but they make up for it in this volume. ^_~
Other notes: Watch out for some non-con elements. (Not between the main characters.)
I love that we get to basically see Peter and Damon’s relationship grow and develop. I mean Damon is still the broody alpha he was before and Pater is still prone to dramatics. Though, I have to give Damon props to keep to his work about not doing anything other than kissing with Peter until he turned 18.
And while I love reading about these guys and the world they live in so many things (big and small) could be saved if they just TALKED. Both seem to have the quality of half listening to what they are told and making assumptions, which just gets annoying.
I liked seeing that Peter stepped up in this book with his place in the pack and as Damon’s mate and was able to show Damon that he wasn’t so fragile, not that you’ll ever get rid of Damon’s extreme protectiveness.
I received a copy of this book and am giving an honest review.
Good follow-up to the first book, including covering the big lie that Peter was fed in Little Red. There were a few editing errors that pushed this down to 3 stars for me, but they might not bother other readers. Also, part of me likes the abundant use of parenthetical thoughts running through Peter's head while also hating them as being a little too casual. (Yes, I know I use them quite a bit myself, but then I'm not writing a book, now am I? No, just a little GR reviewer here, nothing to see...) Still, I'm sure I'll be reading the next book in the series relatively soon after it comes out next month, if only to see what kinds of holes Peter digs for himself with his snark.

Big Bad (Big Bad Wolves Book Two) by Queenie Wise is an amazing story that I have read. This is book number two in this amazing series that I have read and can not wait to read more from this author. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about LBGT and paranormal romances.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
So I didn't enjoy this as much as I enjoyed the first book. It has the same feel, but at lot of the drama felt unnecessary. There was already a lot of built in conflict and angst that gets ignored in favor of throwing cliches in. There's just something about the character reactions to things that doesn't feel natural. I'm not sure how to explain it, because again it's not a big deal, it's just slightly off. And honestly, I started to get irritated with Peter, he makes a lot of dumb (though understandable I guess) choices that irked me. Nothing major but just eye roll inducing. Meh. I don't even know how to say what I mean. I just, it was easy to read and moved quickly, like breakneck speed, but I didn't feel a connection to the characters. The only parts that really worked were the quiet relationship moments, when Peter and Damon were emotionally connected. Those were my favorite parts.
After I finished, I saw there was a note from the author that says this was originally a MF story that has been repurposed and that actually explains a lot. I had originally thought it was fanfic that was reedited. I just wish I had known that going in, though I probably wouldn't have read it had I known. I don't know. It's fine and I'll probably keep up with the series as it goes but I won't be "dying" to read it.
First I want to say that I really like this series but there were some grammar errors that need too be fix now that's out of the way . We have the continuation of the first book with our couple Damon and Peter who are mate's in all but act and deed . Because Damon vowels to wait until Peter is Eighteen and legal to take their relationship too the next leve that does not sit to well with Peter who swears that he is ready for some down and dirty . In the meantime there are still enemies plotting to destroy our couple so when an enemy of Damon's on the council let Peter now that his parents are still alive Peter is shocked and devastated because Damon and his pack told him that they had not survived the attack by the hunters . Furious and hurt that the man and pack that he's come to love and trust would lie to Peter about something so devastating this sends Peter running home to confirm for himself the truth . But being back home is not what Peter expects it to he soon realises that the sad fact is that he just doesn't fit in the human world anymore . Also with Peter's miraculous return he must now navigate between truth and lies Peter can't tell his family that he's now a werewolf or where and with whom he's been living with . With the lies stacking up and the pressure from his family all of that is blown to bits when Damon comes to town to take his mate back .Things to from bad to worse when Peter's hated brother -in l-aw attacks Peter and tries to sexually assaulted him he's caught red handed by Peter's Alpha Damon almost kills Peter's brother -in- law . Unfortunately that's when the rest of Peter's family show up and witness the end of the beat down . Things get even more cagey with Peter's sister's husband hurt and bleeding on the floor and Peter just as bloody what's a sheriff dad suppose to do pull a gun on the only stranger in the room Peter's Alpha . Of course Damon doesn't stand down gun or no gun his mate has been hurt dad/cop ain't going no were near his mate . So after the brother-in-law tries to weasel his way out of trouble Damon is not having any of that that **it and of course things get even more complicated when Peter's family find out that the mysterious stranger/saviour is none other the infamous DAMON /maybe kidnapper /possible PEDO . Well Cop/dad is fit to be tied Cop/dad is like get the HELL away from my SON and Damon is like **ck off Cop/dad I ain't going no where as tempers cool somewhat cop/dad is like I need to talk to my son ALONE Peter'slikes sorry dad but I needs my big strong Alpha right now so Peter sneakily tells Damon to climb back into his window and stay there until he talks to cop/dad . But Cop/dad has another bomb for Peter Mom and Cop/dad thinks that Peter should see a therapist they believe that Peter has been lying to them about what happened to him when he disappeared . Well Peter is shook and sadly realizes that he can't stay he's not wacky he's just a werewolf but he can't tell his family that . Besides Peter misses his pack mate's and his friends back in Canada he now's that this is no longer his homes so with a heavy heart and with the help of his Sister Van . Peter leaves his home for the last time knowing that this will devastate his family all over again but he has no choice he just doesn't fit in any more . So Peter and his pack happily head back home only to find more trouble when they get there with the hateful/scheming council members that want to ruin Damon by using Peter are on the War path . But Damon is ready too tell the council to **ck-off when councilman knave/jealous bitch strings his trap by suggesting that Damon engages in a primitive mating practice where Damon mate's /have sex in front of the WHOLE pack . Of course that triggers Damon who almost ends Knave on the council floor but Peter knows that the council will NOT take kindly to that . Luckily that plan is shot down but Knave soon comes up with a more subtle plan although Damon still doesn't like it the council approves it's a trap of course that almost succeeds . Lucky for our couple they survive oh and Peter does leave a note for his parents and promises to call them every month which he does and also Damon DID end Peter's brother-in-law Damon is one the number one suspect in the case . Oh well you don't mess with an Alphas mate and expect to live I still think that the blood sample Peter gave to the hospital will come back to bite them in the *ss .
"Big Bad" can undoubtedly boast of a truly fantastic idea for this story that has been really well implemented. The intrigue of this volume is brilliant and rich in action in every respect, thanks to which the reader is constantly interested in this book and eagerly follows subsequent events. This installment of the series consists of many larger and smaller events that are more or less related to one another, thanks to which the whole novel resembles a wonderfully entwined spider web in which the reader is happy to be caught. I must also add that in this volume the author surprises us many times, even when we can guess how she plans to develop her story.
In "Big Bad" I also liked the fact that although our characters are still the same as they were in the first volume, they also began to change, and we are witnessing these changes. In this case, it should undoubtedly be added that the author presented the evolution of the characters in a really natural and believable way, so that we know she didn't force them to be someone else in this installment, as they simply are themselves. As a result, even though after reading the first part of the series we love our "Merry Men", right now we fall in love with them even deeper, even if it seems impossible. I must also add that due to some unexpected revelations and surprising events, we start to look at some characters in a completely differently way. And it's all because Queenie Wise shows her readers an entirely different face of her protagonists.
In summary, "Big Bad" is a fantastic, often surprising novel and a great continuation of "Little Red". After reading this book, we really want more, we want to get back to this universe and the characters we love.

Podsumowując, „Big Bad” to fantastyczna, często zaskakująca powieść i świetna kontynuacja „Little Red”. Po przeczytaniu tej książki naprawdę ma się ochotę na więcej i chce się jak najszybciej powrócić do tego uniwersum oraz ukochanych przez nas bohaterów.
I read "Little Red" a while back and was eagerly anticipating the release of "Big Bad." I'm pleased to say it was just as good as the first book in the series, and I was just as engaged and eager to see what happens to young Peter.
Let's be real here - Peter has been screwed over. Damon is not the Prince Charming one might have hoped. At pretty much every point in the first book, Damon is kind of a d-bag to Peter. Yet he is Peter's "mate," so happily ever after is inevitable, right?
One of the biggest plot points of the first book comes back to bite Damon in the butt in this book, and it was incredibly satisfying to read. Frankly, that whole situation brought Damon to a level of likability in "Big Bad" that he clearly didn't have in "Little Red." Without wanting to give too much away, I will say that I feel this book put Damon and Peter on a slightly more even footing, as opposed to the "you my mate, do what I say" vibe of the first book. (Not to hate on the first book, it was still very good, and you'll definitely need to check it out before reading "Big Bad.") Damon was knocked down a few pegs where Peter is concerned, and Peter attained a bit more maturity. It was very necessary for Wise to alter their dynamic if she was going to build a successful romantic relationship for her protagonists, which I feel she did.
I see that she is planning a third in the series, and I personally hope for a story focusing on secondary character Garrett, who has really grown through the two books. Fingers crossed!
If you're into shifter books and looks at power dynamics, this is a good series to check out. For anyone concerned, no sexual content happens with characters under the age of 18.
This book is just as bad as the first in the series. Yes, I read it to be sure the series really was as bad as I thought.
Issue #1: The apology from Damon and reconciliation between him and Peter is so lackluster. Damon LIED about his parents for SEVEN MONTHS. That's over half a year. There is no excuse for it. Damon should have been making up for that for AT LEAST seven more months. But he's forgiven in basically a day or two. Fuck that shit.
Issue #2: Peter has to be the stupidest motherfucker on the planet. He has very little original thought. He bends to whatever Damon wants or doesn't want, basically. Considering he's modeled after Stiles (Teen Wolf, because this is a fanfic), it's very disappointing how braindead he is. Stiles is intelligent, clever, and far more funny than Peter. Put another way, Stiles is a way better character than Peter and it shows. Peter is the Walmart (Dollar Store?) version.
Issue #3: Damon's violence being flippantly excused is disgusting. Chad was a disgusting guy, yes. He deserved to hurt for it, and to be put in prison. Damon fucked him up really well protecting Peter (e.g. crushed wrist, several broken ribs, etc.). Okay, thats fine. But then he goes and murders him, and we'reled to believe it's in a horrible way. Peter doesn't really care? He's cool with a murderous mate. Yeah, that's it book, automatic 1-star.
Issue #4: Chad is just Blaze with another name. Like they're the same character. And they're both so one-dimensional, it's insane. The author didn't even bother to create anything of interest there. Booooorrrrring.
All of the issues from book 1 remain as well. This is just the continuation of them.
I wonder how much worse it gets in book 3. We'd be in to negative star territory if I could actually give negative stars.
A fantastic continuation of this series! This book dealt with continued life for Peter as he involves himself more in the town of Whitewater and in his clan. The rites to become part of a clan have come and everything in the town is in flux. But the biggest thing this cockroaches on is the grand secret of the last book which gets revealed and changes everything personally for Peter.
While this is werewolves and kidnapping and all sorts of insane circumstances, some things are the same growing up stuff. Revealing sexuality that is anything outside of the norm to family can be a difficult task, and finding that the response is anything but positive is such a rejection of the love and happiness of childhood. As well, finding the fallibility of parents as you grow into an adult is never easy, especially as it leads to choices that parents find difficult.
This book really sets Peter and Damon on the path towards making a life together. From becoming legally a consenting adults to proving themselves to the town and the way things will be done, there is much they go through in this book. While Peter is growing and maturing there are also things that cause him to still realize how much he has yet to go through and all that can change as life continues on. As Damon takes on the increased responsibility in the town it is creating changes in the pack and showing what kind of leader Damon wants to be.
There is so much more story that could happen for these two and the pack and I hope to see more from this ever interesting series!
I read a lot of LGBT genre books. Unfortunately I’ve had to struggle through quite a few due to the poor writing style of the author. That’s one reason I almost jump for joy when I come across a gifted writer like Queenie Wise. This series of two books so far (another coming out in May of 2020) is bloody perfect. Ms. Wise starts with a somewhat common storyline: social outcast teen bitten by alpha werewolf and basically kidnapped only to fall in love with the werewolf. But as the story unfolds and our protagonists face peril after peril, combined with the writing style of a gifted author, the book becomes a must read.
I love a book that keeps me on the edge of my seat. So much so that I can hardly put it down. Especially when you kinda sorta know what’s going to happen and then when it does, it surprises the heck out of you in how brilliantly it is presented. Further, Ms. Wise has an absolutely delightful sense of humor which shows up in every chapter.
I have fallen in love with all the members of Damon’s Pack and I’d love to read a story with each one...especially Garreth, a snarky, obnoxious, yet lovable werewolf who just needs someone to love and be loved back (how true for us all).
Kudos to Queenie Wise for sharing her gift and stories with us. Looking forward to many more.
I give this one points for continuing to keep my interest. It was a definite page turner for me and I didn't stop until I had read it all. The dramatic reveal about Peter's parents was there, but I'm not a big fan of how it all played out. This is really only a 3 star plot because I am sick of the ridiculous repeated assaults on Peter, but, like I said, it gets points for holding my attention. Everything with Chad in this installment was unnecessary and just too much with the Knave storyline. The number of guys that have wanted to sexually violate and/or exploit Peter in these first 2 books is ludicrous. If that trend continues into the last book, I can see my ratings continuing to downgrade. There's more than enough story with just Damon, Peter, the werewolf thing and pack matters that so much could have been edited out to improve these stories. Sure, I read through it all happily enough, but if I ever re-read these books I will be skipping a ton. Here's hoping that the focus in the last book stays tight to keep this series on my really liked/loved list.
I was so excited to see where things would pick up after the last novel. We continue to follow Peter on his journey while he's still acclimating to his new life with Damon and his pack in Whitewater. This installment addresses some of the gaps presented in book one, particularly the big white elephant in the room regarding Peter's past and family. We get to know Peter's family more intimately and boy was hilarious at the same time. The sarcastic humor from the last book was definitely present in this sequel and there were plenty of cute fluffy moments that developed between Peter and Damon. Although lighthearted and fun, there were also moments where Peter was confronted by a betrayal from his pack and with choices that would forever alter the path of his life moving forward.
I was pleased with the flow of this newest installment and am avidly awaiting the next one (hopefully there will be another!).
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This review is for all three books. I received an arc for all three books and these are my honest reviews.
I liked this series. Maybe it’s just me. Aside from a few things: some plot holes, a lot of editing errors which I’m only pointing out here because they have obviously not been fixed as books one and two have been published for quite awhile and although book three was recently published I’m going to guess those errors were not fixed either, (and an extreme overuse of sentences in parentheses), but even with all that I still highly enjoyed them.
There are obviously no se*y times in the first book because Peter is underage. Books two and three do have a couple or three which some people like less se* scenes and some people like more.
Peter has a rough go of it throughout the series. He gets attacked, beat up, almost raped multiple times, somewhat tortured and molested while kidnapped and held hostage, all basically at different times throughout the series.
These books are not for everyone due to whatever reasons but I still recommend them.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
It’s not a book for everyone. I can totally feel the twilight fanfic vibes. The drama and the threat of death and bodily harm to our lovely Peter as Damon scrambles to righteous wrongs and devout himself to his mate, Peter. I loved the high intensity and angst. Peter is still a bit rash and immature but he is getting better. I understand his behavior but it can be frustrating. But I’m 30 and he is 18 dealing with some major crap. So I get it. I love Damon and his devotion though. If you want an mm touch him and die??? This is it. Damon literally will f u up for messing with his mate. And I ate it up. I also appreciated the well thought out plot line and how it culminated in the end. The only thing holding me Back from saying this is the best ever is their lack of communication. Damon doesn’t communicate well and Peter purposely avoids it as well. His snarky asides explain he knows what he’s doing being an idiot but I still wanted to shake them at times and demand words!!! But I loved it.
I really enjoyed this 2nd in series book by Queenie Wise. It expands on the whole pack dynamic without glossing over the huge lie Damon told in the last book. He selfishly did that for Peter’s protection, but it comes back to bite him when Peter finds out from someone else. Someone else who is not his mate. And Peter runs. How far will Damon go to protect Peter and finally Liam his mate? Will Peter be able to forgive the lie and see things through Damon’s eyes? This reads more like a YA book, but there are definitely some sexy times happening between Damon and Peter as well. The characters have grown more in this book and the level of care they show Peter, even the snarky Garrett, is refreshing. I definitely recommend this book if you like paranormal reads, but read book 1 first so you can understand the back story. I can’t wait to see if the author continues the story with some of the secondary characters.
Time always gives one perspective, clarity and a chance to make better choices! Peter is going through typical growing pains. Damon is acting like a typical guardiant knowing what's best and trying to be protective, but doing it all wrong. Trying to do the right thing, be the best person while weighed down by unfulfilled frustrated needs. Peter on the cusp of manhood emotionally feels he jumped over the cusp months ago. Peter's inner dialogue is absolutely the funniest! But he is reslly immature and naive! Peter makes questionable choices and Damon rationalizes why they are okay. They have a few really entertaining adventures that affect a lot of people. I really liked this story and I loved the pack. I thought werewolves had superhearing and sense of smell? Will Peter grow up? Will Damon man up and take Peter as his partner? I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I must admit I was a little nervous to read this book. The first book was so good, adding the pressure for the second book to be just as good or better. Well? I loved this book! I’m usually not one for drama, but I think it fit the story and characters well. Plus, it didn’t just drag on, but the story continued to develop as the drama was worked through. The secondary characters, especially Peter’s pack, are only more lovable in this book! The way the story plays out is satisfying and we finally get the relationship development we all wanted after the tension of the first book. Plus, there’s a plot development that should make everyone happy.
There will be a third book and I can’t wait to read it. I’m not sure where the author will take the story but I trust that the book will be another winner in this series. Shifter stories seem to fall into a rut of recycling the same characters and stories over and over, but this series is unique and engaging and so worth the read!
Last time I said I don't know if I'm gonna read the second book or not, but since my friend convince me that this second book is good, so I read it.
Overall the second book much much better than the first one, they relationship is develop, the 'fire' is hotter in the second book, much much hotter. But it's still have some typos here and there (maybe she should find another editor), some major issues like how can a werewolf (Peter) with a nonhuman strength can't fought a human attacker? Why Peter keep doing stupid things? Why can't they understand each other in their wolf form?
And when I first read the synopsis, I thought Damon gonna do some really really brutal things that makes Peter feel unsafe or a little afraid of him. But it's nothing.... sure Peter gets mad at him for keeping a secret, but that's it.
Am I gonna read the third book? Maybe yes, but not really looking forward to read it.
Oh boy the poo hit the fan in this book. Following the events in book 1 I started book 2 waiting for Peter to discover the big lie that Damon told him. And when Peter did find out their budding romance imploded. I fell for Peter and Damon even more in this book. My heart broke for Peter when he was crushed by what he felt was a betrayal by Damon and the rest of their pack. Things only got worse when Peter went back to his home town. I wanted to hug him so hard he just seems to have the worse luck and is constantly the target of very horrible people. Damon is your classic gruff growly alpha so seeing him begging for forgiveness and declaring his feeling made me swoon. I can't wait for book 3 I really hope they can finally have their HEA and live peacefully with their packs. I'll already guessing not. Really enjoying this series - great characters, fun ensemble cast, fights against the bad guys and first love!! Recommend!
I knew as I was reading the first book that at some point, Damon not telling Peter about his parents would blow up in his face. Well it didn't happen until just now and at this moment I don't even have a desire to skim through to see how they're going to get through this. Both characters are just only sort of likeable and while it was understandable that there would be growing pains throughout the first book, it is a lot less pleasant in this one. Peter never takes a minute to think (even though we have to read his endless inner monologues) before he runs off or says something stupid. Damon and the pack have had 7 months to explain everything concerning werewolves. Peter has had 7 months in school learning things as well but yet he is constantly surprised about stuff concerning werewolves. What do they do all day? Damon is the only one that has a definite job. I may come back to this at another time but I'm not in the mood for obvious plot devices today.
Sometimes second books fall flat for me. This however was not the case. This one did start out a little slower than expected but quickly picked up the pace and made me not be able to put it down. My previous thoughts about the characters still stand. Peter is childish and has had a lot or bad things go wrong in his life. Sometimes his immaturity provides levity and sometimes it reminds you that he is only 18, he however is a rather interesting character despite the fact that half the time he is the damsel in distress. Which would make Damon our knight in shining armor I guess. He's not truly the white knight though, he makes mistakes, he's possessive, he's hot as f, he is also willing to admit he made mistakes (even though it takes him a long while). The side characters are also amazing. Savannah is a good big sister as is Amie. Garrett is my favorite of the pack though. He's an ass in the best way.
Hold on, it's going to be a bumpy ride. We get to see Peter settle more securely into his new life as wolf and his future as Damon's mate. Of course there's action, drama and danger. Someone is playing Peter and Damon like chess pieces from behind the scenes. An ugly truth is uncovered, almost unforgivable which sends Peter running back home and nearly destroys the pack. Once home, Peter has more difficulties and realizes, sometimes you can't go back home. Peter is ever so feisty and pushes Damon to actually see him as an adult, not a child. As he returns back to the pack, having forgiven everyone, ( especially Damon, who needs a good smack ) they once again find themselves embroiled in political intrigue and machinations. There are nearly fatal consequences, but we end on a happy note and I can't wait for the next installment.
I loved this one more than the last one I liked the loose end being done and Peter and Damon being completely on the same page by the end. It felt more like its own story this time I loved the characters even more this time round Peter is such a great character that literally can't stay out of trouble I liked the conflict between him and Damon that wrapped so much by the end. I just loved the relationship between the two of them it was not smooth sailing but it got there eventually interesting things happen and we have a great ending. I loved the plot it starts with Peter and Damon s relationship going well with some hiccups then Peter finds something out get mad runs away back to his human family other things happen he goes back and the relationship between him and Damon gets better one more terrible thing happens and then we have a happy ending.
This is one of the books where it ticks all the boxes for me. The slow burn, conflicts, sweet moments and a whole lot of wickedly sassy humour. All of Peter's internal monologues brings me in to fits of laughter and I just love it. His whole personality, no sweet little lay down and stay down attitude, he shows he's angry and he doesn't make it easy for others to keep him down. Unless it's physical, lacking a bit of muscles.
Damon is like a murderous teddy bear, the most squishy man unless someone looks wrong at Peter, or touches him. And the only one who can bring him to his knees is someone half his size with puppy eyes.
I love the dynamics of the pack and hope to see more of them finding mates or a chance to in the next book. Which I can't wait to read.
